Skybound Entertainment has today announced a brand new third person action game called The Walking Dead: Betrayal. Set in the world created by Robert Kirkman through his excellent comic book series and further flourishing as a television show staring Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln, the new game is describes as a game of “cooperation and deception for up to eight players.”

Out of resources, with a horde of walkers on their heels, players must work together to complete objectives and escape in The Walking Dead: Betrayal. They’ll need to work fast, as walkers aren’t the only threat they will have to face in rural Canada. While these survivors struggle to escape, incognito ‘traitors’ lurk among them, plotting to do everything in their power to delay repairs, and prevent anyone from leaving. As evidence of their sabotage becomes apparent, paranoia and accusations threaten to tear the survivors apart as they desperately work towards escaping.

It’s being developed for PC by Other Ocean Interactive, the team behind Project Winter. Players can now join The Walking Dead: Betrayal Discord channel to sign up for updates, and get a chance to participate in the planned Closed Beta starting on August 10.

Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games have today revealed the newest survivor coming to Risk of Rain Returns, Drifter, via Dev Thoughts 31.

Drifter is a resourceful brawler who got more than she bargained for when she stowed away on the ill-fated Contact Light – luckily she has some unique skills to not only handle the dangerous inhabitants of Petrichor V but she also has some powerful tools to empower herself and her fellow Survivors. Drifter generates Scrap by attacking enemies, once collected this Scrap can be converted into temporary items for the rest of her team.

In the Risk of Rain Returns Dev Thoughts 31 blog, plenty of details regarding Drifter help to give players an idea of what to expect, including her abilities Blunt Force, Cleanup, Suffocate, and Salvage.

Blunt Force is a 3 hit combo melee attack that hits enemies in a wide area – each successful hit generates lumps of Scrap which litter the floor near Drifter – gather these quickly to fuel your more powerful abilities.

Cleanup tosses out some of your Scrap as piercing projectiles in a short-range burst – imagine a trash powered shotgun that makes mincemeat of even the toughest enemies.

Suffocate fills your meter without having to collect Scrap from the environment – This large melee strike stuns and does 200% damage – any enemy below 20% health when attacked with Suffocate.

New Star Games has today announced its new retro-styled racing game New Star GP will be heading to Early Access via Steam on August 8. Not only that, but the team behind New Star Soccer, Retro Goal, and Retro Bowl will also be bringing their racer to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One later in the year.

New Star GP is a fast and exciting arcade motorsport game with stunning retro visuals. Play Career Mode starting in the 80’s and work your way through decades of racing while upgrading your car and your support team, or chase high scores in Championship Mode on your own or in split-screen with up to three friends. The initial Early Access version has races set in both the 80’s and the 90’s, containing 56 individual race events, taking in iconic racing venues like Brisbane, Quebec and Côte D’Azur. As Early Access moves toward a full release, there are plans to evolve the Career Mode to include future decades of racing along with new cars, locations, tracks and rivals. 

New Star GP is by far the most ambitious title the team has worked on, with plenty of modes like the Championship, which has a variety of different championships to play in both single player and multiplayer (up to three friends). New Star Games will add more content throughout the Early Access period, and by listening and working with the community, it has plenty of potential to be another smash hit.

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment has today launched Season 10 of SnowRunner, available for free to Year 3 Pass and Anniversary Edition owners. Titled ‘Fix & Connect, it includes two new maps, two new vehicles, and new activities across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. There’s also a free update adding new content for all players.

The SnowRunner Season 10 update adds two new summer maps set in British Colombia.

In a remote landscape of log stations and sawmills, farms and silos, as well as fisheries, players will venture far out into extreme wilderness and take in the sights of awe-inspiring lakes and waterfalls. After a destructive storm, Runners will need to deliver generators and parts needed for reconstruction, set up electric poles to reconnect the grid, and fix ferry boats and other crucial infrastructure, such as the weather station.

Players will also get the Mack Defense M917A3 and the Kenworth 963. The Mack Defense is “a superb, fresh-off-the-line off-road truck that shines with durability,” and the Kenworth is “a massive, behemoth of a truck capable of dealing with anything you may throw at it.” The free content update comes with 10 new cosmetics and a big crane add-on.

We were a big fan of its maps when the game released in 2020 and said, “Normally, I tend to frown when a game offers overly large maps, but here, I just wondered how I could get to the next Watchtower or which route would be best for my next delivery. Dotemu and Tribute Games have today revealed an all-new survival mode coming to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. It comes as part of the Dimension Shellshock DLC and will be hitting PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later in the year.

The Survival Mode will introduce collectable crystals that allow players to jump between dimensions, with each one featuring its own look and feel. Some of the dimensions include a Japanese-inspired Edo dimension, and 8-bit backgrounds featuring the four turtles. Players can level up and grow stronger through runs across these dimensions, and when they die and have collected enough crystals, new lives, ninja power bars, Radical Mode, and extra hit points can be unlocked.

We reviewed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge when it released and said, “Shredder’s Revenge isn’t an overlong experience – but it is also generous in terms of content, challenge and replayability. The only real criticism I can level at it, would be that I would have liked the inter-stage cutscenes and introductions to have been fully voiced. Why employ the guys that voiced our childhood, and then miss a trick with that? But that is small potatoes, and this is still a terrific game. Just as the spirit of teamwork shines through in the way Dotemu, Tribute, and Nickelodeon have put this together, this is also one of the best opportunities to team up and enjoy some old school arcade action on or offline with mates. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel – but it does reawaken not only a terrific franchise, but reminds us of how damn cool and iconic the Turtles really are. If you need me, I will be working my way back through the cartoons with a gooey old slice of pizza.”

System Era Softworks has today announced the free Custom Games Update for Astroneer, available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The update will be arriving for Nintendo Switch in late July, and includes new planet generation options, single player solo expeditions, and more.

The Custom Games Update for Astroneer will feature Hardcore and Permadeath modes, as well as the option to create an oasis with added accessibility options for those new to the game. The single player solo expedition can also be played with up to four players, creating new scenarios starting from any planet, with the ability to share the configurations through shareable codes allowing players to spawn with items, per biome customisations, and more.

Players will be able to explore every inch of seven worlds “in search of a mysterious power dispersed throughout the galaxy, and craft a path to discovery ranging from the void of space to cavernous planetary cores and everything in between.” The Terrain tool can be used to dig, collect, shape, and mould surrounding topography across these planets, and even excavate a path underground to explore whatever dangers await.

DNF Duel has received a brand new fighter to its roster as part of the Season Pass, introducing a dangerous female slayer called Spectre. Players can gain access right now as long as they’ve purchased the Season Pass.

Spectre, a female slayer, uses “Obsidian,” the deadly nodachi, and “White Fang,” the swift kodachi. Harnessing the power of the Ghost Fastener on the back of her hand, she showcases incredible air mobility, delivering swift strikes that confuse opponents by brutally attacking a broad area at once.

There has also been an update to the gameplay experience of DNF Duel via a patch that has been applied to all characters, as well as two powerful new systems detailed below:

• The “Indomitable Spirit” system encourages more enhanced guarding strategies. Upon using it, block stun time becomes consistent while recoverable White Damage is received through a certain input while guarding.
• The “Select Cube” system empowers players to strategically activate the Awakening system. By using “Gold Cube,” players can unleash the Awakening effect at 30% HP or less. Using “Clear Cube” allows players to trigger a milder – yet impactful – effect when at 50% HP or less.

Along with the new gameplay video featuring co-op in Vampire Survivors, Poncle also revealed a new item called The Friendship Amulet. It can appear on the level-up screen and levels up a random weapon for each player, where they have to chose to improve their own weapons or offer it up to the whole group.

Fully switching to new engine

For a while now, Vampire Survivors has been running simultaneously on its original engine and its new one, however, now the game has reached a point where the new engine has been vigorously tested, the Steam version of VS will fully switch over from August 17 to coincide with the release of co-op.

Co-op hands-on event in London

Finally, Poncle will be hosting its first community event in London in early August. Players and VIPs will be able to try out the co-op mode with friends before it launches. Details on how you can attend will be announced via Twitter and TikTok soon.

Vampire Survivors has had an impressive year, and although we reviewed it last August, it’s just as popular as ever. In it, we said, “Vampire Survivors is a basic yet addictive roguelike, with a surprising amount of depth in its mechanics. Taking on hordes of enemies does seem daunting at first, but when you’re unlocking new weapons and abilities to slay them all, it is when the game is at its best. I don’t really like to bring the cost into a review, but for just over £2, it makes it almost a crime not to try it out. It’s the perfect game to spend an hour or two on when you’re struggling to choose something, and will more than likely give you something to play when you’re in a funk.”

Neon White is a lightning fast first-person action game about exterminating demons beyond the pearly gates. Players assume the role of Neon White, an assassin handpicked from Hell to compete with other (oddly familiar) demon slayers for a chance to live permanently in Heaven.

Players will be able to purchase physical editions of Neon White, featuring popular anime-inspired speedrun gameplay mechanics, for £34.99, which come with an original 11 x 17 foldout poster and artwork by character artist Rebecca Ryan. An iam8bit exclusive Edition will also be available through their official website for $44.99, including five Neon White anime-style “character peeker” stickers, an exclusive cover sheet by Ryan, a soundtrack by Machine Girl, and a region-free cartridge with worldwide compatibility.

Leonardo Interactive has announced an Xbox demo for Daymare 1994: Sandcastle which goes live from today until July 17. The demo was released during the Xbox Summer Game Fest Demo Event, and will provide players with a “thrilling opportunity to experience the intense and immersive horror world that awaits them in the full game.”

Daymare 1994: Sandcastle delivers a gripping narrative inspired by classic survival horror titles, featuring an atmospheric setting, challenging puzzles, and heart-pounding encounters. Developer Invader Studios’ work on the title has garnered praise and acclaim ahead of launch, with numerous interviews, fan live streams, and exciting updates.

The limited time demo will be available for one week only, showcasing a slice of what to expect, allowing players to “step into the shoes of Dalila Reyes to unravel the mysteries of an isolated area plagued by nightmarish creatures and enigmatic puzzles.”

MINTROCKET has today announced that their indie title that could, Dave the Diver, has sold over a cumulative 1 million copies. The impressive sales figures highlight how many people clearly love it, receiving an 89 overall score through Metacritic and OpenCritic, as well as garnering over 28,000 player reviews and achieving an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam.

Some other impressive figures for Dave the Diver include a peak concurrent player count of over 98,000, 66,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, #5 on Metacritic’s Best PC Game of 2023, appearing on OpenCritic’s 2023 Hall of Fame, and reaching #2 on the Global Top Sellers list on Steam, all within the first 10 days of its release.

Train Sim World 3 sees the addition of a new content to Southeastern Highspeed as it has made the Thameslink Class 700 available from today. The modern EMU is seen by millions of passengers each year both in and around London, as well as Kentish natives commuting along the Chatham Main Line as far south as Rainham.

The unit is recreated in a high level of detail, with the interior seating plan, passenger information display and in-cab driver’s screens all featuring as part of a truly representative operating experience, as well as the ability to switch modes between third rail and overhead power and plentiful lighting and safety options to toggle.

Fans of Train Sim World 3 have been requesting the inclusion of the Class 700 since the release of the Southeastern Highspeed route which is now upgraded and extended in the game. This now takes the number of playable services to a hugely impressive 700. Players with the London Commuter and East Coastway route Add-ons can now make use of the Scenario Planner to recreate regular Class 700 services from Brighton to London, or their rarer trips through Lewes and Eastborne.

A bundle will be available that features all relevant Train Sim World 3 content for Souteastern Highspeed, including the Railhead Treatment Train, ROG Class 37, and Class 700. It’ll be the perfect introduction for new players who are coming to Train Sim World for the first time, or those that have yet to play the Southeastern Highspeed route.

Take to the tracks, master the machines and battle the elements. Control iconic locomotives from the USA, UK and Europe, hauling mile-long freight, high-speed passenger and busy commuter trains.

Capcom hosted a special presentation for Exoprimal that shared plenty of new details for their online team-based action game. During the Exoprimal Showcase, Director Takuro Hiraoka offered an early look at upcoming seasonal updates, crossovers with Monster Hunter and Street Fighter 6, ‘Final Mission Selection’ for Dino Survival, and more.

When Exoprimal launches later this week, it’ll feature a mode within Dino Survival called Final Mission Selection that offers three matchmaking options. PvP games sees two rival squads of Exofighters go head-to-head at the end of matches to decide who wins or gets “fed to the raptors.” PvE don’t involve direct PvP, but require speed to complete all objectives first in order to survive. The random option provides “the adventurous with a small experience bonus,” with fighters free to change preference settings to mix things up at any time.

As for the post-launch roadmap, the Exoprimal Showcase offered up plenty of interesting information for what fans can expect in the future. Season 1 begins when the game launches on Friday, with a brand new game mode commencing two weeks later on July 28 called ‘Savage Gauntlet.’ The new mode will challenge teams of five players with late PvE missions rotating weekly and can be replayed for higher rankings and rewards.

On August 17, Exoprimal will feature its first major title update including 10 Alpha variant Exosuits, with the alternate designs featuring completely different weapons from their standard counterparts. Season 2 will kick off in October, and includes a Street Fighter 6 collaboration, a new map and Final Mission, and more rigs and modules.

Finally, in January 2024, Season 3 begins and sees Beta variants of Exosuits, a brand new enemy called the Neo Triceratops, and a collaboration with Monster Hunter. You can watch the Exoprimal Showcase below:

Mark Zuckerberg has today announced a brand new VR subscription service called Meta Quest+, available for Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets. Starting today for £7.99 a month or £59.99 annually, players will get two hand-picked titles every month. For anyone that sights up now until July 31, it’ll cost just £1 for the first month.

Starting on the first of every month, two titles will be available to redeem, and once downloaded they’ll be available to play as long as players remain subscribed to the service. Players are also free to unsubscribe at any time, however, if rejoining later on, every title downloaded while a player has been subscribed will become available once more.

The first two titles available are the awesome rhythmic FPS Pistol Whip from Cloudhead Games, and ARVORE Immersive Experiences’ nostalgia-fuelled arcade adventure Pixel Ripped 1995. August’s games have also been announced, with players able to jump into MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE from Terrible Posture Games, and the social VR experience that is Mighty Coconut’s Walkabout Mini Golf.

There have been a lot of short gameplay trailers released for AEW: Fight Forever over the last few weeks, and the latest focus is on its Ladder Match mode. THQ Nordic and AEW have released a new trailer that focuses on two of the craziest wrestlers within All Elite Wrestling, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin, as it cuts between some nice promo work and in-game footage.

AEW: Fight Forever is already being recognized for its retro approach to design, which includes hand-crafted animations and a nostalgic arcade feel. AEW: Fight Forever presents fans with their first chance to pull off wrestling moves only seen on the wildly popular AEW programming. Online co-op wrestling is going completely next level with Tag-Team matches that feature sequences of team maneuvers performed with simple commands. Game modes including Ladder Match, Exploding Barbed Wire and Casino Battle Royale, along with a stacked roster of popular AEW wrestlers, career mode, wrestler customization, signature AEW arenas, multiple match types and some good ol’ fashioned unsanctioned fun await.

THQ Nordic has been showing off a whole host of videos focusing on roster reveals including Powerhouse Hobbs, Thunder Rosa, and Ricky Starks, as well as giving fans a taste of what to expect from the AEW: Fight Forever Tag Team mode. With less than a fortnight to go, hype is starting to grow for what many hope will be a great alternative to Visual Concept and 2K’s WWE series.

Tony Kahn and AEW are on a high right now, with the company going from strength to strength. They have a new weekly show starting this Saturday called Collision, featuring the return of CM Punk, and Forbidden Door on June 25, which sees wrestlers from AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling compete against each other. The environments are filled with various biomes that differ greatly from one another, along with deadly enemies and boss fights, deep labyrinths and secrets galore.

In this brand new Hyper Light adventure, you are a Breaker, a mercenary tasked with entering the Overgrowth, a world in disarray within the Hyper Light universe. Either solo or with up to two fellow Breakers, you will explore large open biomes, with global day, night and weather cycles, along with a blended mix of handcrafted and procedurally generated elements that change with every playthrough. By wall-dashing, hoverboarding, and gliding, Breakers will have the freedom to choose their own path across the Overgrowth.

Curve Games and Microbird have announced that their new hack ‘n’ slash action RPG Dungeons of Hinterberg is coming to Steam in 2024. Revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, it’ll allow players to battle monsters from Alpine myths, explore dungeons, and forge friendships.

In the small Austrian village of Hinterberg, a tourist destination with lush scenery, crisp mountain air, and magical dungeons full of Alpine mythical monsters, adventurers from all over the world come to complete the Dungeon Challenge, find epic loot and hang out at Hinterberg’s famous apres-slay bar. Players can explore dungeons, solve puzzles, slay huge bosses – then have a Schnitzel with the locals and other slayers from around the globe. Building deep relationships can unlock special abilities and give players key items, helping them find their way through a daunting dungeon.

DON’T NOD has revealed its brand new game at the Xbox Games Showcase, an action puzzle climbing game called Jusant. It was also announced it will be arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Fall 2023, and is going to be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Experience climbing like never before in this action-puzzle climber and meditative journey to reach the top of an immeasurable tall tower and uncover clues along the way. Challenge yourself at your own pace, explore different paths, and unravel the secrets left behind from a bygone civilization with the help of a mysterious companion.

To give players a chance to try out Jusant, a playable demo is available now on Steam. It’s all about mastering climbing tools and watching stamina in an effort to navigate the tower. Players will be challenged to choose the best approach, using their tools correctly and finding different ways to climb up, reaching higher altitudes and honing their skills. There’re clues scattered around and leftover signs that show what happened to the people that once lived there.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, it was announced that The Legend of Monkey Island will be coming to Sea of Thieves, starting July 20. Popular characters like the legendary Guybrush Threepwood, LeChuck, Murray the Demonic Talking Skull will all be arriving over monthly instalments as part of the ‘Three Tall Tales,’ arriving for free.

It’ll be exciting to experience Monkey Island in Sea of Thieves in a first-person view as opposed to the iconic point-and-click style, and the trailer gave us a big idea of what to expect. Made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, it’s set to deliver “an authentic story with a single hypothetical question at its heart – what if Guybrush and co. arrived on the Sea of Thieves?” On Xbox Wire, there’s an exclusive interview with Sea of Thieves creative director Mike Chapman, a lot more information was revealed.

“The idea of what could a potential story be if Guybrush and Elaine found their way into the Sea of Thieves, that was something we thought about during the development of A Pirate’s Life,” said Chapman. “It felt like that was a really interesting idea to get players guessing: “Would they actually go tell a Monkey Island story?” So that did inspire the side quest that takes place in A Pirate’s Life – let’s explore a little sliver of what point-and-click gameplay could feel like in Sea of Thieves. You use some items, there’s some nested solutions that you need to discover. We were definitely inspired by what a Monkey Island experience could look like in Sea of Thieves.”

The loveable Keanu Reeves made an appearance at Xbox Games Showcase to introduce a new trailer for Phantom Liberty, the first expansion for CD Projekt Red’s open world RPG Cyberpunk 2077. Along with the footage, it was also revealed that it’ll be launching on September 27.

In Phantom Liberty, players once again take on the role of V, a cyberpunk for hire, as they embark on a mission to save the President of the New United States of America after her orbital shuttle is shot down over the deadliest district of Night City — Dogtown. What follows is a deep dive into an intricate story of espionage and political intrigue which connects the highest echelons of power with the brutal world of black-market mercenaries. The stakes are larger than life, but so is the reward — your very survival.

Idris Elba is joining the cast as Solomon Reed, an FIA sleeper agent, and Johnny Silverhand is also making a comeback. Phantom Liberty will feature a ton of new quests, gigs and gig types, new vehicles, tech, cyberware, and weapons. There’s also a new skill tree to allow more freedom for crafting one’s own unique playstyle. Pre-orders are also available.

Obviously the game had a rocky beginning, and in our original review, we said, “Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It’s also one of the biggest, one of the most well-realised, one of the most well-written, but it’s not without fault. It’s let down by elements that should have been better; not the bugs, in particular (because they will be fixed), but things like the melee combat, the explanation of systems, the oppressive influx of side quests. I can’t stop thinking about this game, about what comes next in the half dozen side-gigs I’m still planning to go back and do, or about how I might tweak V’s abilities for the next few levels.

This is a truly exceptional video game. It wears its influences and heart on its sleeve, isn’t afraid to go to places many games would avoid, and delivers immersion and storytelling on a scale rarely seen, despite the best efforts of its own bugs and glitches to prevent that. After eight years in the making, we’re finally invited to Night City, but once you’re there, don’t be surprised if you never want to leave.”

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order revealed the first gameplay for Cities: Skylines II at the Xbox Games Showcase. Not only did fans get a first look at what to expect, it was also announced that it’ll be releasing on October 24 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

In Cities: Skylines II, players build detailed cities at an epic scale. Intricate economic systems present players with choices that have ripple effects across the city. Dynamic maps set in various biomes present both challenges and opportunities for city builders. High-fidelity visuals showcase the beauty of cities like never before, from a humble city block to an iconic city skyline. For the first time ever, each citizen has their own individual life, including occupation, household, relationships and more, making cities feel alive. Players can now follow how their choices affect citizens’ lives, adding weight and immediate impact to every strategic decision.

Starbreeze has today announced an official release date for Payday 3, and it’ll be releasing on September 21 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, it was accompanied by a world-exclusive gameplay trailer which you can watch at the bottom of the page. Regular DLC is set to be released after the launch, and will be on sale at the recommended retail price of $39.99.

Payday 3 takes players to the city of unlimited possibilities – New York City. The Payday Gang, consisting of Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains return from retirement, and find themselves in the Big Apple after an unknown threat appears, shattering the illusion of peacefully living on the “right” side of the law. As they say, “Leopards can’t change their spots”, and thanks to years of experience and a mysterious new player in the criminal underworld, they quickly get their hands on the first lucrative heists and leave their explosive calling card with the city’s security and police forces.

It’ll feature plenty of cool features which are listed below:

• The Tightest Crew – The legendary Payday Crew, feared by the law and underworld alike, is back. New York City has a lot of opportunities for a heister with a plan.

Obsidian Entertainment showed off the first ever gameplay for their upcoming fantasy game Avowed at the Xbox Games Showcase. In the footage, players got to see Kai, one of the first companions, how Obsidian created the first-person combat system, and the world of the Living Lands.

Speaking in more detail on Xbox Wire, studio head at Obsidian Feargus Urquhart offered lots of details about what was seen. “Expanding the universe that we created for the original Pillars of Eternity games, Avowed brings a new perspective, a new way to fight, and a new land to explore in the world of Eora. The Pillars games are near and dear to us and we can’t wait to share Avowed with everyone next year,” said Urquhart. “In Avowed, you’ll explore the Living Lands, a plagued, wild island set in the world of Eora. The Living Lands are full of mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, and choice and consequences.”

“Unique to the world of Eora, the Living Lands is home to bustling port towns and rolling hills adorned with weird and fantastical plant life. Every part of the Living Lands is home to its own ecosystem. Around every corner there are creatures, sentient mushrooms, or tribes of lizard-like Xaurips looking to make you their next meal.”

In regards to the first-person combat, Urquhart said, “first-person combat has been a huge focus for us. We’ve incorporated a host of ways for players to fight the flora and fauna of the Living Lands. You will have swords, shields, pistols, magical spells, and more at your disposal, including the ability to dual wield, creating a vast number of combinations to choose from.”

Atlus has finally announced Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the popular JRPG, at the Xbox Games Showcase. It is stylistically similar to Persona 5, and looks pretty damn incredible. It’ll be releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, however, there is no release date as of yet.

We reviewed Persona 3 Portable at the start of the year, and had the following to say:

Just like it’s PSP forebear, Persona 3 Portable for modern consoles still lacks some of the epilogue content from the PS2 originals. Some may argue that they prefer the 3D models over the wholly 2D direction chosen here – however it does lend the game a breezier feel especially in handheld mode, and it is a lot less likely you will find yourself getting lost or struggle to find certain areas thanks to the easy menus and maps. As well as the choice of gender, like the accompanying Persona 4 Golden re-release this one also allows you to choose a difficulty level from the start, including the mind bending Maniac mode, which will see all but the best have their asses handed to them in Tartarus until they have done some serious Persona grinding.

Ultimately Atlus would go on to eclipse this release with the larger, deeper and more satisfying sequel, but do not let that put you off. This is still very much one of the finest role-players of its time, and a game that I managed to sink 30 hours into in worryingly quick time. Like Persona 4, the localisation is superb, the script sharp as a tack; and one which makes you identify and fall in love with the quirky cast of characters that you interact with, as well as feeling very much in control of your protagonist. There is talk of Atlus fully remaking Persona 3 using similar aesthetics to Persona 5. There is certainly a lot of potential to expand and tinker with its universe, and the strength of characterisation and story to warrant such a release. Until then, this is more than worthy of your time and comes thoroughly recommended.

At the Xbox Games Showcase, Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games showed off a brand new open world title called Star Wars Outlaws. It’ll be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Ubisoft Connect in 2024, and a first look will premier during Ubisoft Forward on June 12.

Development is being led by Massive Entertainment and will show players a period of Star Wars set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

As the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives. Fans will play as cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess, brought to life by Humberly González, and her loyal companion Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates and join the galaxy’s most wanted.

“When we first imagined the first open-world Star Wars game, we explored where and when it could take place, and quickly realized that we had all the right ingredients for the journey of a scoundrel. These outlaws live life under the thumb of the Galactic Empire, but can still thrive given the opportunities that the criminal underworld opens up for people looking to take advantage of the turmoil,” said Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment. “The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make their name, and Kay Vess is written in the stars.”

A brand new game from Compulsion Games called South of Midnight was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase. Coming from the developers of Contrast and We Happy Few, it sees protagonist Hazel try and subdue the supernatural as they spill into the real world.

More details were revealed on Xbox Wire, including an interview with creative director David Sears and narrative producer and creative specialist James Lewis. South of Midnight is said to be inspired by “the more interesting geological, topographical, cultural, societal, historical areas of the South.” It’ll be set in the modern world and be almost exclusively rural. “It springs from the concept that monsters are real – you just need to jump over the backyard fence,” says Sears. “The farther you get away from the influences of civilization, the more magical the world becomes.”

“Magic Realism is, is one of the calling cards of Southern Gothic,” says Sears. “It’s a licence to actually put magic in the modern world, and to have creatures there that are just accepted. We’re not going to give you an information dump in the game, and that’s in the spirit of Magic Realism, right? We’re explaining enough that you will just accept it.”

The interview is a pretty substantial one, and details a lot of things like Hazel, the type of magic and enemies players will encounter, and the mysterious Shakin’ Bones, the cool guy playing guitar at the start of the trailer. While little has been announced in regards to a release date or actual gameplay, we do know it’ll be coming to Game Pass on Day One for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. At the Xbox Games Showcase, fans got a brand new trailer for Fable, starring actor and director Richard Ayoade. It’s been some time since we’ve seen or heard anything about one of Xbox’s greatest series, and while there’s little gameplay itself to go on, there’s still plenty to get excited about. At this point, there’s no release date as of yet.

What does it mean to be a Hero? Well, in the fairytale land of Albion, that is entirely up to you. With a dark threat looming, and in a world where your reputation precedes you, your choices will change Albion forever.

For starters, Richard Ayoade is a big name in UK entertainment, best known for his work on The IT Crowd, but in Fable, he’s known as Dave, the vegetable enthusiast. OK, we’re none the wiser either, but he’s a giant, talking about how he’s more interested in innovation than fighting legendary beasts. Suddenly, he gets interrupted by a human and begins chasing her around his kitchen. We’ve got little else to go on, and while there might have been a tiny bit of gameplay in there, that’s about it.

The Playground Games-developed re-imagining was first detailed in 2020, and although this trailer gives little away, it’s nice to know it’s still happening. You can watch the trailer for Fable from the Xbox Games Showcase right here:

NEOWIZ has revealed the release date for Lies of P at the Summer Game Fest 2023, and it’ll be coming September 19. Not only did an official date get announced, a new gameplay trailer was released to celebrate, along with a public demo that is now live. Pre-orders are also available for the digital standard edition and deluxe editions.

Inspired by the familiar story of Pinocchio, Lies of P is an action Souls-like game set in the dark, Belle Époque-inspired city of Krat. Once a beautiful city, Krat has become a living nightmare as deadly puppets run amok and a plague sweeps the land. Play as P, a puppet who must fight his way through the city on his unrelenting journey to find Geppetto and finally become human. Lies of P presents an elegant world filled with tension, deep combat and character customization systems, and a gripping story with interesting narrative choices where the more lies told, the more human P becomes. Just remember: in a world filled with lies, no one can be trusted…

The gameplay demo will give players early access to the first two chapters, including “challenging boss encounters, introductions to key characters, and unique areas to explore.” There’s hours of gameplay where players can also explore the primary hub area, the Hotel Krat.

A brand new side-scrolling Sonic the Hedgehog game was announced at Summer Games Fest 2023 called Sonic Superstars. Although seldom details have been released, we do know it is coming fall 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

A new Spin on a Classic: The 2D Sonic high-speed sidescrolling action platforming you know and love, reimagined with fully 3D graphics, new powers and abilities, an all-new setting, and new ways to play! You’ve never played classic Sonic like this before!

Players will be able to play together in co-op or alone, and it looks to have been inspired greatly from the old school platformers fans fell in love with.

Sonic Superstars doesn’t appear to be a sequel to Sonic Mania from 2017, and the visuals are vastly different, using some gorgeous 3D environments. Players will be able to play as sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles as they take on Dr. Robotnik and returning enemy Fang. The action will take place on the mystical Northstar Islands, featuring a brand new story and the ability to play with three other friends.

Adventure through the mystical Northstar Islands in this all-new take on classic 2D Sonic high-speed action platforming. Play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose and harness all-new Emerald powers to move and attack in dynamic new ways. Navigate gorgeous, never-before-seen environments solo or with up to 3 other players and stop Dr. Eggman, Fang, and a mysterious new adversary from converting the islands’ giant animals into Badniks before it’s too late!

At Summer Game Fest 2023, Ubisoft revealed a brand new game from a returning IP, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The footage showed various cutscenes laced with a side-scrolling gameplay style. featuring a ton of boss battles, puzzles, and more. More footage is said to be revealed this Monday at Ubisoft Forward.

In this brand-new adventure, players will embody Sargon, a young, gifted warrior, and member of an elite group called The Immortals. As they are sent to rescue Prince Ghassan, they will explore Mount Qaf, a once wondrous place, now cursed and hostile. Sargon and his brothers-in-arms will soon discover that time itself will be a treacherous foe and that the world balance must be restored.

Presenting: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, an action-adventure platformer game set in a mythological Persian world.

 Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will let players explore a handcrafted world inspired by Persian mythology, unlocking new powers, abilities, and more, combining them in combat. Sargon will end up delving deeper into Mount Qaf where he’ll solve puzzles, find secrets, and complete side quests. There’re also mythical enemies, big bosses, and dangerous traps, and by combining combat and platforming skills, players will defeat time-corrupted creatures such as Jahandar, the dreadful Manticore, guardian of the Citadel.

The soundtrack comes from Mentrix, where the Iranian-born composer mixes both traditional instruments and modern sounds. Gareth Coker will be joining him to bring his own unique sound to convey the rousing score during boss fights. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is coming on January 18, 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Explore Elgacia

The Demon invasion beginning in South Vern and the Legion Commanders’ powers are growing with the Chaos Gates all over world. With Kazeros’ resurrection nigh due to the Dimensional Rift, it’s time for gates of Elgacia to open. Kadan and Nineveh will lead you to Elgacia, the land of Lazeniths.

Players will explore Ereonnor, the city of light built in reverence to the Gods, as well as the blessed Hestera Garden and the sacred Mount Phylantos as they uncover the secrets of the Lazeniths. The continent of Elgacia arrives in the June Update next week, on June 14, 2023.

Note: Venturing to Elgacia will require Item Level 1460.

Kayangel Abyssal Dungeon

The storyline isn’t the only epic experience in Elgacia. Kayangel, Light’s Sanctuary also arrives— a 4-player Abyssal Dungeon that can be accessed after completing the Elgacia story. The Kayangel Abyssal Dungeon has two difficulties; Normal and Hard, and has 4 gates to save your progress.

• Normal Mode will require Item Level 1540+
• Hard Mode will require Item Level 1580+

The harder the difficulty, the more impressive the rewards will be, one of which enables the ability to upgrade Ancient Legion Raid gear set bonuses to level 3, and another that upgrades Relic Ability Stones to Ancient.

At the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Fast Travel Games and co-developer Windswept revealed the first expansion for Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game. The expansion, which is also free to all players, will include two new ships, a relaxed mode, and an autosave feature, which is now available for Meta Quest 2.

Set in Paradox Interactive’s hit galactic universe, the expansion includes the following content:

● PANDORA: Aggressive but nimble, the Pandora is powered by Meteorite Thrusters, giving it the unique ability to ram other ships to deal heavy damage. The Pandora is equipped with a Surge Laser, Parasite Blaster, and Swarm Missile, enabling it to deal double damage in close combat, recharge its shield after a successful hit, or attack multiple targets simultaneously.

● IRIS: Built for strategy, the Iris can use special Blink Thrusters to teleport between waypoints, dropping explosives that detonate when an enemy comes within proximity. The Iris is equipped with a Sniper Blaster, Link Laser, and Odin Missile, letting players pick enemies off from afar, quickly manage crowd control, or deal massive damage in one hit.

● RELAXED MODE: In this mode, ship damage is reduced, ammunition is increased, the currency threshold is raised, and shops will offer more items. All options can be individually adjusted with multiple levels, allowing players to tune the game’s difficulty.

● AUTOSAVE: Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game now autosaves at the start of each sector. Players can pick up where they left off with the Continue Game option, or start a new journey by choosing the Abandon Game option. Autosave is automatically enabled for all players.

Fast Travel Games has announced Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice, a brand new VR horror action RPG at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. Set in the World of Darkness universe, you’ll be able to prowl the streets of a “dark and blood-soaked Venice,’ on Meta Quest 2 and PSVR2 later this year.

In this first-person single-player adventure RPG, you play as Justice, a vampire of the Banu Haqim clan. After your sire is mysteriously murdered and a relic is stolen, you travel to Venice, Italy, home of the death-worshiping Hecata vampires, in search of answers. Fiercely devoted to upholding their moral code, the Banu Haqim are known for enforcing laws, handling threats, and punishing transgressors. Use your vampiric Disciplines to hunt and remain hidden from society’s gaze while you work to track down the culprits.

“Justice allows players to experience the tantalizing world of Vampire: The Masquerade like never before, thanks to the power of virtual reality. Get ready to get up close and personal with allies, enemies, and of course, prey, all in stunning VR,” said Erik Odeldahl, Creative Director and co-founder of Fast Travel Games. “There is no shortage of mysterious Kindred to meet, exotic locales to traverse, or foes to splatter on the architecture.”

Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice is set to feature a main narrative with various side missions, as well as unique dialogue options, where players will be able to do the following:

● BE A STEALTHY VAMPIRE: Hide in plain sight with Cloak of Shadows, boil the insides of your victims with Cauldron of Blood, or place a Shadow Trap to drag them into Oblivion. Players can also use the crossbow attached to their arms for combat and solving puzzles.

● BECOME THE APEX PREDATOR: Upgrade stealth, combat, or stamina skill trees to become more powerful. Skill tree experience is gained by completing missions or specific objectives.

● EXPLORE A DARK AND MYSTERIOUS VENICE: See what Venice looks like outside the tourist photos. Explore murky alleyways, ensanguined canals, forgotten catacombs, and opulent palazzos in your quest for retribution.

Schell Games has revealed the newest villain set to join I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. The third instalment in the award-winning spy-themed VR puzzle series will launch this summer for Meta Quest and in the fall for SteamVR.

Outwit your most cunning adversary to date in the latest installment of this award-winning, spy-themed VR puzzle series. Wield new gadgets, visit action-packed locales, and wear custom disguises as you dive back into the world of espionage in this escape room game.

Dr. Prism is the name of the new villain from I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine, who is being described as “a genius inventor with a robot obsession.” The character will be voiced by Daisy Lightfoot, who fans may know as the actor behind Shuri in various Marvel animated shows such as Marvel’s Avengers, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Black Panther – Trouble in Wakanda, and Marvel Rising: Operation Shuri.

“We really tried to fill the characters in I Expect You To Die 3 with personality to enrich the player experience throughout the game and pull agents into that world of danger and espionage. The writing combined with our actors’ incredible vocal performances hopefully creates a unique experience that is made even more immersive in VR,” said Jared Mason, Narrative Director for IEYTD1 and IEYTD3 and voice of The Handler. “Voicing the Handler in this series is so much fun, and being able to shape the story across the franchise has been one of the highlights of my career. We can’t wait for new and returning Agents from all over the world to step into the role of an elite (or disastrous) spy.”

Schell Games also revealed a sneak peek of their first ever VR horror title, Silent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire, at Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.

Hello Games has announced that No Man’s Sky is launching on Mac from today, making use of the platform’s technology. This version of the space exploration game has been built from the ground up, making full use of the Metal and Apple silicon, and will also run on select Intel-based Macs.

Last June at Apple’s keynote at their Worldwide Developers Conference, we announced that No Man’s Sky would be coming to Mac for the first time. We’ve worked closely with Apple to produce a version that feels at home on Mac. This paves our way for an exciting future on Apple hardware.

It’s release on Mac will be free to millions of players who already own it on Steam, and will also support cross save across both systems, letting everyone jump between PC to Mac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio. There’s support for cross play, allowing players to connect with other adventurers across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and VR.

In terms of the Mac’s technological capabilities, players can expect fast load times courtesy of its internal SSD; consistent performance across all Macs due to being one of the first titles to support MetalFX Upscalling, both Temporal and Spacing; and the ability to achieve console quality graphics thanks to Metal 3 support while still maintaining battery life on laptops and lower end devices.

No Man’s Sky is available on any Mac with Apple silicon, including Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. It will also be playable on Intel-based Macs with a Core i5 processor (minimum specs of 8GB RAM and Radeon Pro 570X 4GB Graphics Card, 20GB Storage). It is now available on Steam, coming to Mac App Store shortly. All future updates coming to No Man’s Sky will also be available on Mac in the future.

The PS2-stylised title is out on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, where players embark on a fun weekend that quickly takes a turn for the worst.

Join Emily and her college buddies as they gather at a remote rental house to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Nacon and Cyanide Studio have revealed new trailers for two of their upcoming games, Tour de France 2023 and Pro Cycling Manager 2023. Both games are set to release on June 8, with Tour de France 2023 coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, and Pro Cycling Manager 2023 coming to PC.

Both games are set to feature tons of teams across various competitions, with Tour de France 2023 featuring riders from 21 teams in this year’s competition, and Pro Cycling Manager 2023 allowing players to manage teams across World Tour, Pro Tour, and most of the Continental. Climber, Sprinter, Puncher, and Rouleur rider profiles and characteristics will also be available on both titles.

Jerseys from the cycling world have been faithfully reproduced, with the four distinct jerseys of the Tour de France (yellow, green, white, and polka-dot) available, as well as national champion and world champion rainbow jerseys. Tour de France 2023 also includes red bibs for the Super Combative rider and yellow bibs for the best ranked teams.
The new features in Tour de France 2023 include:

• As well as the “Race of the Moment”, which was introduced in the previous edition, a new challenge has been added: the “Downhill of the Moment”. This new game mode takes place solely on downhill stretches and so requires unique strategies. Players can then compare their ranking with other competitors from all over the world.
• More realistic rating system: The introduction of Agility and Medium Mountain ratings can lead to unexpected incidents, such as falls within the peloton, and also has an effect on what path the riders take.
• More strategic gameplay: Players can devise different strategies depending on their team members and their statistics.
• Updated rider equipment, now rated based on quality.
• Distinctive bibs added: “Super Combative” and “Best Team” for a greater challenge.
• Various technical improvements: including collisions, AI behaviour and the path riders take in downhill stretches.

As for Pro Cycling Manager 2023, players can expect the following:

• Improved user interfaces with a redesign of the “race results” page and a brand-new “race page”.
• A new training system: management of the training calendar and tasks so priorities can be set.
• Official races with all ASO races (Tour de France, Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Nice).
• A redesigned world ranking, now based on the real-life system and UCI points classification.
• A new system for managing nation registration for the World Championships.
• A new “Medium Mountain” rating.
