As revealed a few weeks back, Street Fighter 6 just got a bigger roster, with 19th character Rashid being added via DLC.

Available on all formats, you can grab Rashid via the year 1 character pass, by having the Deluxe Edition of Street Fighter 6, or the Ultimate Edition, or just by using 350 fighter coins to unlock him, which will include his outfit 1, and colours 1 & 2. If you’d rather not try him via those methods, you can also use an hour long rental fighter ticket, which you can get via the in-game fighting pass.

Rasid will be eligible for competition use at Evo 2023 (August 4th-6th), as well, so expect to see him in action there. If you do unlock him, as well as the usual ways of playing as a fighter, he’s also going to be part of the World Tour campaign where you can get his moveset. You’ll need to have completed the World Tour mode to access the new missions that have been added “featuring the Mike Haggar Memorial Stadium Tournament and Suval’hal Arena”.

Here’s a list of some of his moves:

• Arabian Cyclone: A new special move that performs a spinning kick and conjures up a whirlwind; can be used as a standalone blow, or transitioned into Rolling Assault or Wing Stroke
• Arabian Skyhigh: A new double jump move that keeps opponents guessing on where Rashid will land from the air
• Super Rashid Kick: Level 1 Super Art that unloads a devastating kick while soaring forward and up through the air
• Ysaar: Previously Rashid’s V-Trigger move in Street Fighter V, this Level 2 Super Art summons a slow-moving whirlwind projectile that can be used to pressure opponents
• Altair: Rashid’s Level 3 Super Art calls forth a tempest that lifts opponents before he rains down on them with a monsoon of powerful blows

Street Fighter 6 is out now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.

Bandai Namco Amusement Europe Ltd will open its first retail experience store called ‘Bandai Namco Cross Store’ in Camden, London, on the 18th of August 2023. This will be the first of its kind outside of Japan and it focuses on a celebration of the physical market and Bandai Namco’s heritage as a worldwide entertainment company.

The store is made up of a collection of shops where customers can ‘see’, ‘touch’, and ‘experience’ characters, products, and events and feel part of an experience to make people smile whilst celebrating community and entertainment.

The first Bandai Namco store in the UK will be in Camden, London, one of London’s most famous cultural hubs and popular tourist destinations. The store is in Camden Market, and it will house seven ‘shops’ that feature Bandai Namco Group content, four of which will be the first in the UK. The shops will offer a wide selection of high-quality Japanese character products from collectibles, card games, figures, video games, and everyday items.

Skybound Entertainment has today announced a brand new third person action game called The Walking Dead: Betrayal. Set in the world created by Robert Kirkman through his excellent comic book series and further flourishing as a television show staring Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln, the new game is describes as a game of “cooperation and deception for up to eight players.”

Out of resources, with a horde of walkers on their heels, players must work together to complete objectives and escape in The Walking Dead: Betrayal. They’ll need to work fast, as walkers aren’t the only threat they will have to face in rural Canada. While these survivors struggle to escape, incognito ‘traitors’ lurk among them, plotting to do everything in their power to delay repairs, and prevent anyone from leaving. As evidence of their sabotage becomes apparent, paranoia and accusations threaten to tear the survivors apart as they desperately work towards escaping.

It’s being developed for PC by Other Ocean Interactive, the team behind Project Winter. Players can now join The Walking Dead: Betrayal Discord channel to sign up for updates, and get a chance to participate in the planned Closed Beta starting on August 10.

“We’re tremendously excited to unveil this latest The Walking Dead experience that fully immerses players with a fresh and unique take on social deception gameplay,” said Robert Kirkman, Chief Creative Director of Skybound Entertainment and creator of The Walking Dead. “Partnering with Other Ocean Interactive, true innovators in this game genre, will allow players to experience hordes of deceit and distrust as they struggle to work together to survive and escape.”

Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games have today revealed the newest survivor coming to Risk of Rain Returns, Drifter, via Dev Thoughts 31.

Drifter is a resourceful brawler who got more than she bargained for when she stowed away on the ill-fated Contact Light – luckily she has some unique skills to not only handle the dangerous inhabitants of Petrichor V but she also has some powerful tools to empower herself and her fellow Survivors. Drifter generates Scrap by attacking enemies, once collected this Scrap can be converted into temporary items for the rest of her team.

In the Risk of Rain Returns Dev Thoughts 31 blog, plenty of details regarding Drifter help to give players an idea of what to expect, including her abilities Blunt Force, Cleanup, Suffocate, and Salvage.

Blunt Force is a 3 hit combo melee attack that hits enemies in a wide area – each successful hit generates lumps of Scrap which litter the floor near Drifter – gather these quickly to fuel your more powerful abilities.

Cleanup tosses out some of your Scrap as piercing projectiles in a short-range burst – imagine a trash powered shotgun that makes mincemeat of even the toughest enemies.

Suffocate fills your meter without having to collect Scrap from the environment – This large melee strike stuns and does 200% damage – any enemy below 20% health when attacked with Suffocate.

2K has today announced that the fourth WWE 2K23 DLC pack ‘Revel with Wyatt’ is available now, featuring Superstars Bray Wyatt, Uncle Howdy, and more. It’s something fans have been clamouring for for some time, as Bray is one of the most charismatic and creative minds the company has ever seen, however, he’s been off TV for some time now.

Despite his absence, he’s still one of the most popular Superstars within the company, and the surprise inclusion of the elusive watcher Uncle Howdy is going to make fans even happier, despite him never having an actual match in WWE. Other Superstars added to the game include Zeus, the monster from the late 80s who had a great rivalry with Hulk Hogan, and featured in the bad but good movie ‘No Holds Barred. Valhalla aka Sarah Logan, who accompanies the Viking Raiders to the ring, is also playable; Joe Gacy, leader of the cult-like faction The Schism; and NXT’s Blair Davenport.

Along with these new Superstars, their moves and taunts are also now in WWE 2K23, which can now be used for custom Superstars, meaning there’s a great opportunity to build the Bray Wyatt faction that could have formed from the ashes of the Firefly Funhouse. Also, MyFACTION cards featuring the new playable Superstars will be available within the DLC.

To coincide with the release of the WWE 2K23 Revel with Wyatt DLC, a new ‘Summer Heat’ card collection has arrived in MyFACTION, including Amethyst tier Batista, Stacy Keibler, Chyna, Ultimate Warrior, and more. Starting July 28, the Neon Horizons card collection goes live, featuring Diamond tier The Prototype, Leviathan and Chad Gable, plus Amethyst tier Alba Fyre, Bruno Sammartino, Grayson Waller, Roxanne Perez, and Scott Steiner, and many more. A brand new virtual reality studio called Creature has launched publicly today, led by industry veteran Doug North Cook. The company has been functioning since January 2023, and is already working on various announced and unannounced games, including a mixed reality title.

Doug has experience as the former head of Robot Teddy, working on Among Us VR and The Last Clockwinder. Joined by other veterans of the industry, they’re currently working on games with Funktronic Labs, Thomas Van Bouwel, and Neat Corporation.

“We’ve built Creature to support artists, designers, and developers who we believe are creating experiences that unlock something new. I believe that operating with a focus on trust, transparency, honesty, and unrelenting quality is the way that we can push the industry in a more playful direction that creates room for developers to build sustainable studios that are able to focus on building their best work yet while we support them every step of the way,” says Doug North Cook, Creative Director and CEO. “Our team is able to do this because we have some of the most talented, experienced, and lovely people who have helped to build some of the most transformative VR experiences to date. We are just getting started.”

The label aims to “assist game developers in building sustainable businesses and to bring high-quality games to consumers,” where it offers business development support, production consulting, and release strategy. The studio’s art direction is being led by Ashley Pinnick, who worked on Tilt Brush and Slimeball, while the engineering team is led by Superhot VR and Gravity Lab’s Mark Schramm. Other members of the team include Chris Hanney (Shredders and Space Pirate Trainer) as Director of Production, Abbey Cooper as Chief Operating Officer, and Rose Gerber as Director of Marketing & Communications.

New Star Games has today announced its new retro-styled racing game New Star GP will be heading to Early Access via Steam on August 8. Not only that, but the team behind New Star Soccer, Retro Goal, and Retro Bowl will also be bringing their racer to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One later in the year.

New Star GP is a fast and exciting arcade motorsport game with stunning retro visuals. Play Career Mode starting in the 80’s and work your way through decades of racing while upgrading your car and your support team, or chase high scores in Championship Mode on your own or in split-screen with up to three friends. The initial Early Access version has races set in both the 80’s and the 90’s, containing 56 individual race events, taking in iconic racing venues like Brisbane, Quebec and Côte D’Azur. As Early Access moves toward a full release, there are plans to evolve the Career Mode to include future decades of racing along with new cars, locations, tracks and rivals. 

New Star GP is by far the most ambitious title the team has worked on, with plenty of modes like the Championship, which has a variety of different championships to play in both single player and multiplayer (up to three friends). New Star Games will add more content throughout the Early Access period, and by listening and working with the community, it has plenty of potential to be another smash hit.

League of Legends is getting a brand new summer event called Soul Fighter, as the full patch notes for the 13.14 update have become available. As part of the event, players will also get a new game mode called Arena, a new in-client metagame called Tournament of Souls, and a whole roster of fighters wearing the new Soul Fighter skinline.

The 13.14 patch will also mark the beginning of Ranked Split 2. It also intends to raise top lane carry potential, lower early jungle gank power, and nudge down bot lane mobility. There’s also going to be some quality of life adjustments to Zyra, Xerath, and Lissandra, some assassin tuning, and changes to balancing regarding ARAM.

Arena

It’s here! The new 2v2v2v2 game mode is launching this patch and we’re excited for all of you to try it out! In the new Arena game mode, four teams of two players each fight one another in rotating combat rounds. After each round of combat, they will power up with unique Augments until only one team is left standing. Combat takes place on four different battlefields which vary in size, terrain density, and theme. Champions from the Soul Fighter universe will make occasional cameo appearances in matches. Sometimes they’ll help, sometimes not so much.

Tournament of Souls

Tournament of Souls is a style-rating-focused combo-battler that takes place in the client. As Samira, you will gain Reputation by playing games of League, which in turn allows you to face new opponents and unlock new abilities for Samira to progress further in the tournament. The objective of the tournament is to become the champion by defeating all ten opponents. You can claim rewards after each victory and take on new challenges after unlocking the Story and Expert difficulty levels.

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment has today launched Season 10 of SnowRunner, available for free to Year 3 Pass and Anniversary Edition owners. Titled ‘Fix & Connect, it includes two new maps, two new vehicles, and new activities across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. There’s also a free update adding new content for all players.

The SnowRunner Season 10 update adds two new summer maps set in British Colombia.

In a remote landscape of log stations and sawmills, farms and silos, as well as fisheries, players will venture far out into extreme wilderness and take in the sights of awe-inspiring lakes and waterfalls. After a destructive storm, Runners will need to deliver generators and parts needed for reconstruction, set up electric poles to reconnect the grid, and fix ferry boats and other crucial infrastructure, such as the weather station.

Players will also get the Mack Defense M917A3 and the Kenworth 963. The Mack Defense is “a superb, fresh-off-the-line off-road truck that shines with durability,” and the Kenworth is “a massive, behemoth of a truck capable of dealing with anything you may throw at it.” The free content update comes with 10 new cosmetics and a big crane add-on.

Gunfire Games and Gearbox Publishing have today released a brand new trailer delving into the returning, reworked Hunter Archetype coming to Remnant 2. We’ve already been introduced to the Handler, Medic, Challenger, and Gunslinger, but the Hunter is the ideal Archetype for those who want to dish out damage and buff their teammates while staying out of trouble.

The trailer, shown below, takes a deep dive into the Archetype which has been retooled since its appearance in Remnant: From the Ashes. Hunters focus on long-range, precision with abilities that increase their fire rate, reload speed, accuracy, and ranged damage.

From a skill that marks all targets (even for your teammates) to outright invisibility, the Hunter is built for focused, sustained damage from the back of the crowd. It may not have the survivability of the Challenger, the healing skills of the Medic or the bestest boy companion of the Handler, but the Hunter brings the best ranged DPS of all classes, as well as a multitude of support skills and buffs.

In Remnant: From the Ashes, the Archetypes really only affected your starting gear and stats – in Remnant 2, Archetypes are essential elements that determine how you’ll fight your way through the apocalypse. From starting gear to Archetype Skills and Prime Perks, these classes will form the backbone of your builds.

Xbox Game Pass Core has been announced by Microsoft as a replacement for the most basic tier of Xbox Live Gold membership, which will be happening on September 14th.

Xbox Live Gold has been around for about 20 years now, but with Xbox Game Pass Core you will get a collection of over 25 games for the cost of £6.99 a month, or £49.99 per year. If you’re a current XBLG member, you don’t actually need to do anything if you’re happy with the service going forwards, as it’ll automatically update at launch to reflect the new membership name and status.

EA Sports FC 24 has finally received a ton of information regarding a release date, new leagues, and features, as well as the new cover star, at the reveal livestream. We’ve put together all the details below on everything revealed so far about EA Sports FC 24, so read on to find out everything you need to know before it releases.

EA Sports FC 24: When will it release?

The game will release on September 29, 2023. However if you pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game, you will get access one week earlier, from September 22, 2023.

What new leagues will be available?

EA has announced that for the first time, players will be able to enjoy Liga F – the women’s Spanish League –  as well as the Frauen-Bundesliga, in Germany. This is in addition to the WSL and Division 1 Féminine already available in previous titles.

It was also confirmed that an exclusive contract has been reached with UEFA for the Champions League for the rights to that tournament. A similar agreement has been reached with the Premier League for exclusivity too.

Any mode updates?

During the live stream, it was also revealed that for the first time, Ultimate Team will be incorporating women players. This now means there are even more options to design your perfect squad of players.

Dotemu and Tribute Games have today revealed an all-new survival mode coming to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. It comes as part of the Dimension Shellshock DLC and will be hitting PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later in the year.

The Survival Mode will introduce collectable crystals that allow players to jump between dimensions, with each one featuring its own look and feel. Some of the dimensions include a Japanese-inspired Edo dimension, and 8-bit backgrounds featuring the four turtles. Players can level up and grow stronger through runs across these dimensions, and when they die and have collected enough crystals, new lives, ninja power bars, Radical Mode, and extra hit points can be unlocked.

We reviewed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge when it released and said, “Shredder’s Revenge isn’t an overlong experience – but it is also generous in terms of content, challenge and replayability. The only real criticism I can level at it, would be that I would have liked the inter-stage cutscenes and introductions to have been fully voiced. Why employ the guys that voiced our childhood, and then miss a trick with that? But that is small potatoes, and this is still a terrific game. Just as the spirit of teamwork shines through in the way Dotemu, Tribute, and Nickelodeon have put this together, this is also one of the best opportunities to team up and enjoy some old school arcade action on or offline with mates. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel – but it does reawaken not only a terrific franchise, but reminds us of how damn cool and iconic the Turtles really are. If you need me, I will be working my way back through the cartoons with a gooey old slice of pizza.”

System Era Softworks has today announced the free Custom Games Update for Astroneer, available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The update will be arriving for Nintendo Switch in late July, and includes new planet generation options, single player solo expeditions, and more.

The Custom Games Update for Astroneer will feature Hardcore and Permadeath modes, as well as the option to create an oasis with added accessibility options for those new to the game. The single player solo expedition can also be played with up to four players, creating new scenarios starting from any planet, with the ability to share the configurations through shareable codes allowing players to spawn with items, per biome customisations, and more.

Players will be able to explore every inch of seven worlds “in search of a mysterious power dispersed throughout the galaxy, and craft a path to discovery ranging from the void of space to cavernous planetary cores and everything in between.” The Terrain tool can be used to dig, collect, shape, and mould surrounding topography across these planets, and even excavate a path underground to explore whatever dangers await.

FIFA is delivering some exciting new content to FIFA World in Roblox, which includes the Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023. Along with the new update, it’s adding official jerseys of competing nations, a 3v3 arcade game, and more.

Users in FIFA World will have access to match highlights, real-time scores, and exciting skill games that will keep them engaged throughout the tournament. Each player avatar can choose their favourite nation to support their team and celebrate the diversity on offer during the World Cup. Visitors to the game are also invited to a virtual exhibition of the FIFA+ Sheroes video series which is curated by the FIFA Museum to share inspiring stories of women both in the game and off the pitch.

There’s also going to be a new Roblox platform-adapted 3v3 arcade football game called FIFA Footblocks that provides an enhanced and competitive player-versus-player experience. Xbox has today announced a new platform-wide, reactive voice reporting feature to Xbox Insiders that starts this week. The new feature will give players the option to capture and report inappropriate in-game voice chats, meaning Xbox is ramping up its safety features with the innovative feature.

The reactive voice reporting feature for Xbox allows players to capture 60-second video clips of an in-game voice incident which they believe violates the Community Standards, then submit it as evidence to the Xbox Safety Team for review. This will then be evaluating to see if a policy violation has taken place. The whole process minimises disruption to play, as the clip stays on a player’s console for 24 online hours.

This means a player can hold off reporting until after their session or until they’re ready. Of course, it can still be sent immediately, but the option provides flexibility. Xbox will also send a report to the player who haven’t sent a grievance within the 24-hour period. If the choice is made not to report, the clip will be erased from the console immediately.

“As a woman online, I often find myself staying silent in online multiplayer to avoid abuse and harassment,” said CamicaziBoss, an Xbox Ambassador. “I am excited for features like this that can help give people like me their voices back. Nobody should miss out on interaction with their fellow gamers because they are afraid to speak.”

The feature was built following on from extensive research and feedback from the player community. It will first be issued to Xbox Insiders before going out to the console player base in English-language speaking markets like the US, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Xbox is also testing and exploring additional languages.

Krafton has today announced a massive crossover with PUBG and Street Fighter 6 as part of the PUBG Survivor Summerfest. Along with the collaboration announcement, other details regarding the event have been revealed, including a host of prizes, special drop events, an overhauled PUBG Arcade, and more.

Between July 26 and September 20, a ton of character skins from Street Fighter 6 will be coming to PUBG, including Chun-Li, Ryu, Luke, and Cammy. Players will be able to look like their favourite fighter while diving into the gripping battle royale matches, marking yet another exciting collaboration for the game.

Players will also be able to earn in-game prizes as part of the event, whereby completing tasks will earn Summer Stamps. These stamps will allow players to be in with a chance to win rewards like a new summer-themed nameplate, in-game premium currency G-COIN, and a high-end gaming PC. PUBG Summerfest ends on September 13, giving players plenty of time to start earning those stamps.

July’s 24.2 update saw a major overhaul to PUBG Arcade, including specialised game modes like Intense Battle Royale and Team Deathmatch joined by a new Bluebomb Rush. This new arcade will act as the home for all future LABS modes, along with the place to test new modes alongside the PUBG community. Superkami and Toplitz Productions have today announced that Sengoku Dynasty will be launching on Steam Early Access on August 10. During its Early Access, players will be offered hours of exploration, crafting, and resource gathering, whether playing alone or with up to four friends via its co-op mode.

Sengoku Dynasty is an all-new adventure set against the backdrop of a fictional Japan ravaged by famine and war. Players will need to rise from a simple peasant to become a legend, as they secure their legacy and build their Kingdom.

Superkami has made sure Sengoku Dynasty is a realistic and faithful representation, utilising plenty of information and visual resources which include historical and cinematic references, and photos from museum exhibits. Unreal Engine 5 has been used to bring its landscapes to life, and the huge open world will embrace the changing seasons as players explore “ancient forests, serene cherry groves, mist-covered hot springs and snow-covered mountain terrain.”

In terms of its gameplay, players will be tasked with growing and developing their villages by crafting tools and weapons, and meals and medicines, cultivating their land to keep their communities alive. Managing multiple locations and building expansive settlements to increase influence is key, as is obtaining vital resources and developing projects. Sengoku Dynasty offers plenty of freedom to create huge inter-connected towns featuring everything from rice fields and bridges to watchtowers and shrines.

In August, Superkami will reveal more details about the game after launch which will include a roadmap of forthcoming features and content updates. The developers will also listen to player feedback during the Sengoku Dynasty Early Access period with the hopes of refining the game and implementing regular updates and devlogs.

Along with the new storylines, it brings challenging raids, islands and events, and quality of life improvements that can be read in great detail via the official blog post.

Some of the highlights for the Lost Ark July update are as follows:

• Elgacia Epilogue – Following the events of the Elgacia quest, players can dive into the Elgacia Epilogue and experience new quests and new rapport NPCs. Players can find their friends and help them discover new futures while they share celebrated memories from their travels.
• Kakul-Saydon Inferno Legion Raid – Players will test their metal in the new Inferno difficulty Kakul-Saydon Legion Raid. Inferno difficulty rewards players with titles, achievements, Stronghold structures and more to showcase their victory to other heroes of Arkesia.
• Music Box of Memories – Experience new stories about the inhabitants of Arkesia with the Music Box of Memories.The Music Box of Memories is the vestige of ancient civilization long gone, manifesting as a gadget that can be played with ‘Memory Orbs’, a new collectible. Back in February last year, we reviewed Lost Ark and said, “Lost Ark is a lot of fun, ultimately. Even played alone, it’s entertaining; but with other people it comes alive. Learning the correct rotation for your skill cooldowns takes time, while things like Stone Faceting and Weapon-Honing seem confusing at first but soon make sense. But like any game of its type, you need to approach it for what it is, not what you expect it to be. If you do that, there’s a massive, sprawling world of adventure to be found. But seriously, bring a wallet the size of a small cottage for all the damn currencies.”

DNF Duel has received a brand new fighter to its roster as part of the Season Pass, introducing a dangerous female slayer called Spectre. Players can gain access right now as long as they’ve purchased the Season Pass.

Spectre, a female slayer, uses “Obsidian,” the deadly nodachi, and “White Fang,” the swift kodachi. Harnessing the power of the Ghost Fastener on the back of her hand, she showcases incredible air mobility, delivering swift strikes that confuse opponents by brutally attacking a broad area at once.

There has also been an update to the gameplay experience of DNF Duel via a patch that has been applied to all characters, as well as two powerful new systems detailed below:

• The “Indomitable Spirit” system encourages more enhanced guarding strategies. Upon using it, block stun time becomes consistent while recoverable White Damage is received through a certain input while guarding.
• The “Select Cube” system empowers players to strategically activate the Awakening system. By using “Gold Cube,” players can unleash the Awakening effect at 30% HP or less. Using “Clear Cube” allows players to trigger a milder – yet impactful – effect when at 50% HP or less.

Along with the new gameplay video featuring co-op in Vampire Survivors, Poncle also revealed a new item called The Friendship Amulet. It can appear on the level-up screen and levels up a random weapon for each player, where they have to chose to improve their own weapons or offer it up to the whole group.

Fully switching to new engine

For a while now, Vampire Survivors has been running simultaneously on its original engine and its new one, however, now the game has reached a point where the new engine has been vigorously tested, the Steam version of VS will fully switch over from August 17 to coincide with the release of co-op.

Co-op hands-on event in London

Finally, Poncle will be hosting its first community event in London in early August. Players and VIPs will be able to try out the co-op mode with friends before it launches. Details on how you can attend will be announced via Twitter and TikTok soon.

Vampire Survivors has had an impressive year, and although we reviewed it last August, it’s just as popular as ever. In it, we said, “Vampire Survivors is a basic yet addictive roguelike, with a surprising amount of depth in its mechanics. Taking on hordes of enemies does seem daunting at first, but when you’re unlocking new weapons and abilities to slay them all, it is when the game is at its best. I don’t really like to bring the cost into a review, but for just over £2, it makes it almost a crime not to try it out. EE has today announced it is teaming up with NVIDIA to offer some great value cloud gaming bundles to add to its ever-expanding gaming offerings. Customers can now gain access to some great cloud-based gaming services, featuring a membership for NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service GeForce NOW, starting at £22 per month.

There are two bundles on offer, and are part of a 24-month plan:

PC Gaming – Firstly, for those who want to PC game, EE’s new cloud gaming laptop bundle gives customers unlimited gaming and video data on their mobile, plus a 6-month Priority membership for NVIDIA GeForce NOW for just £23 a month, with a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 laptop and a Razor Basilisk V3 gaming mouse for £10 upfront.  So, for less than one family takeaway a month, customers can experience incredible PC gaming at 1080p and up to 60fps, with NVIDIA RTX graphics on a great device, and access to over 1,600 games.

Gaming on the big screen – Meanwhile – for those who want to game on the big screen, EE has introduced a new smart TV gaming bundle. The bundle provides customers with unlimited gaming and video data on their mobile, plus a 6-month Ultimate membership for NVIDIA GeForce NOW — for £25 a month— with a 43” Samsung Smart TV with Gaming Hub and a Turtle Beach Recon Cloud controller for £10 upfront. As part of an introductory offer, the smart TV gaming bundle is available until the end of July at just £22 a month, providing customers a saving of £72 over the 24 months. Now customers can get to enjoy epic gaming in more places than ever, with access to GeForce RTX 4080-class performance, up to 4K resolution and 120fps, and access to over 1,600 games —all for less than a takeaway for two.

In support of the launch, EE has teamed up with Leah ‘Leahviathan’ Alexandra, which saw the online streamer test-drive one of the new cloud gaming bundles at the UK’s highest altitude gaming den on the slopes of Ben Nevis, 1,500ft above sea level in the clouds of the Scottish Highlands.

Neon White is a lightning fast first-person action game about exterminating demons beyond the pearly gates. Players assume the role of Neon White, an assassin handpicked from Hell to compete with other (oddly familiar) demon slayers for a chance to live permanently in Heaven.

Following a successful launch last spring, Rockfish Games has announced that Everspace 2 will be releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 15, 2023. Not only will it be releasing next month, the action-RPG will be hitting Xbox Game Pass on day one. Since its release, Everspace 2 has sold more than 350,000 copies, and now players will soon be able to experience it on consoles.

On PS5, it’ll take full advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and speaker features, and on Xbox Series X|S, players will get to explore over 100 handcrafted locations in Everspace 2 via Xbox Game Pass.

“With space adventure games getting more attention than ever, we’re excited to bring Everspace 2 to whole new audiences on Xbox and PlayStation this August,” says Rockfish Games CEO Michael Schade. “The two years we spent in Early Access when developing for our PC launch has served us well in the lead up to our release on consoles and we’ve used the last few months well, polishing an already rock-solid foundation. The iOS and Android RPG Avatar Generations has added an iconic moment from season 1 of The Last Airbender. The update is based on the episode where Gaang breaks Earth Benders out of a Fire Nation mining prison, called “Imprisoned”.

As you’d expect, the new characters and gameplay expansion for the title is via a free update on both Apple iOS devices and Android, too, and includes a new campaign and five new playable heroes, all under the moniker of “The Prison Break Update”. It wasn’t that log ago that the game got five more new rebel characters via an update, so the developer Navigator Games is certainly delivering for fans at the moment.

Occupied by the Fire Nation, the Earthbenders of a small mining village are arrested and sent to a metal prison where earthbending is neutralized. When Haru, a friend of Team Avatar, is arrested, Katara, Sokka, and Aang must infiltrate the prison and convince Haru and his father Tyro to lead the Earthbenders to revolt against The Warden.

Beginning today, players can explore the Prison Rig and collect Haru and Prisoner Haru, Prisoner Tyro, leader of the Earthbender Prisoners, Prisoner Katara, and The Warden. A special addition, the spirit General Old Iron from The Rift graphic novel, will also be available to collect in July. Avatar Studios, alongside Nickelodeon, are directly involved in all artwork and animations to bring these canon characters to life in the game.

The free-to-play “cozy sim” MMO that was recently featured in a Nintendo Direct, Palia has announced its closed beta date is starting on August 2nd, ahead of the open beta on August 10th.

Palia sign-ups are pretty easy to do, as you just need to create an account on the official site, and then access to the closed beta will start rolling out from August 2nd to registered users ahead of that open beta around a week later. If you do get in the closed one, your progress will continue through the open beta, and beyond.

Palia is a new IP from developer Singularity 6, and the team says it’s a “first-of-its-kind community sim multiplayer title that offers a unique blend of community building, adventure, and relaxation in a world that players can call home”. There were more than 600,000 alpha test sign ups when the game was first announced, and as the developer says that “demand to get into Palia’s Alpha tests highlights that players are eager to dive into the game’s wholesome open-world, breathtaking and vibrant visuals, character and housing customization, deep lore, and enticing mystery”.

Palia builds on beloved community sim gameplay mechanics, such as farming, crafting, player and housing customization, and quest exploration by adding a meaningful story, as well as progression and social systems akin to what’s typically seen in MMO games. These multiplayer mechanics, such as a persistent shared-world and an evolving world story, are streamlined to put a greater emphasis on community engagement and developing meaningful in-game connections. Players will work together to hunt, fish, garden, forage, and more as they unravel the secrets of Palia’s always-evolving adventure and meet new friends to help along the journey.

Developer Gardens has announced it has raised $31.3million from its Series A funding, featuring support from some major players in the industry.

The round of funding was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Krafton, while Dreamhaven (co-founded by the long-time CEO of Blizzard), TIRTAA, Nate Mitchell (co-founder of Oculus), Seth Sivak (VP of Development on World of Warcraft), Julien Merceron (CTO of Bandai Namco), and Craig Kallman (CEO of Atlantic Records) were all among the other members included in the list of industry names.

This funding isn’t all, though, as the company also includes Jack Tretton (formerly of Sony) and John W. Thompson (former Microsoft Chairman), and Ben Feder (former Tencent and Take-Two CEO), along with Yamauchi No 10 (Nintendo Family) to its advisory team.

Gardens co-founder and CTO Lexie Dostal was heartened by the positive reception, saying: “It’s both inspiring and validating to see so much excitement around our vision for this game and studio, especially from these incredibly accomplished investors and partners. Folks with deep ties to Blizzard, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, PUBG, Riot Games, Tencent, and more are all coming together around Gardens; we couldn’t be more excited for the party we’ve assembled and the next chapter of our adventure together”.

Gardens co-founder and game director Chris Bell also spoke on the investment, confirming the studio will be making an “ever-evolving” online PvPvE fantasy adventure sandbox ARPG, saying: “It’s a game inspired by our favourite memories playing online RPGs, MMOs, and fantasy action-adventure games over the years, memories of crossing paths with strangers”.

Bell added, “The game builds upon multiplayer ideas and lessons from previous titles I helped design like Journey, Sky, and even my student game Way, while bringing players into a higher stakes, shapeshifting fantasy wilderness where cooperation is key, yet betrayal is still possible. Leonardo Interactive has announced an Xbox demo for Daymare 1994: Sandcastle which goes live from today until July 17. The demo was released during the Xbox Summer Game Fest Demo Event, and will provide players with a “thrilling opportunity to experience the intense and immersive horror world that awaits them in the full game.”

Daymare 1994: Sandcastle delivers a gripping narrative inspired by classic survival horror titles, featuring an atmospheric setting, challenging puzzles, and heart-pounding encounters. Developer Invader Studios’ work on the title has garnered praise and acclaim ahead of launch, with numerous interviews, fan live streams, and exciting updates.

The limited time demo will be available for one week only, showcasing a slice of what to expect, allowing players to “step into the shoes of Dalila Reyes to unravel the mysteries of an isolated area plagued by nightmarish creatures and enigmatic puzzles.”

MINTROCKET has today announced that their indie title that could, Dave the Diver, has sold over a cumulative 1 million copies. The impressive sales figures highlight how many people clearly love it, receiving an 89 overall score through Metacritic and OpenCritic, as well as garnering over 28,000 player reviews and achieving an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam.

Some other impressive figures for Dave the Diver include a peak concurrent player count of over 98,000, 66,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, #5 on Metacritic’s Best PC Game of 2023, appearing on OpenCritic’s 2023 Hall of Fame, and reaching #2 on the Global Top Sellers list on Steam, all within the first 10 days of its release.

The developers behind Cursed to Golf and Pixeljunk Scrappers have teamed up again to create a brand new, Kyoto-based studio called Denkiworks, which already has its first title in development, codenamed Project Tanuki.

Made up of Liam Edwards (Designer), Taku Arioka (Designer), and Jan de Graaf (Programmer), the term Denkiworks has two meanings. Denki, in Japanese, means “electricity”, but also apparently carries a second meaning of “spark of creativity”, which is a fine motto for a developer, really.

The three co-founders were working a Q-Games, having worked on Pixeljunk Scrappers, which is soon coming back around as Pixeljunk Scrappers Deluxe on July 27th, though the team are not involved in that port of the game. Following development wrapping up on that title, Edwards left Q-Games to create Cursed to Golf with Chuhai Labs, and after that, reunited with the other two co-founders to create Denkiworks, with the plan to create future indie games that are unique and have an “East meets West perspective”.

Liam Edwards was excited to reveal the studio, saying “We’ve been hard at work on our first title, inspired by our experiences of life in Japan, coming from an expat and native perspective,” “It’s essentially a love letter to this country and its beautiful culture. We all have an idealised vision of what Japan is, especially its stunning countryside, popularised in art and media over centuries. Project Tanuki will be our take on that”.

Jan de Graaf said: “Our experience working together on Pixeljunk Scrappers was a really special collaboration and we all gelled really well together creatively”, adding “We joked back then that one day we’d re-unite to make a game again. I don’t think we actually thought it would happen, but here we are.. We’re honoured to now be able to plant our personal flag in the Japanese indie scene. If you’re attending BitSummit, please say hi”.

“Forming a new studio is always risky, but we needed to take ourselves out of our comfort zone,” said Taku Arioka. “We have so many ideas and needed complete creative freedom to pursue them. “It’s been so stimulating to collaborate with Liam and Jan again, and work on the new project has been progressing so well already. Fireproof Games has announced its popular VR puzzler The Room: A Dark Matter will be coming to PSVR2 on July 27. The independent game developer from Guilford have spent the last five years focusing on the VR experience, and over the last few months they’ve been working hard on bringing the game to PSVR2.

The modern EMU is seen by millions of passengers each year both in and around London, as well as Kentish natives commuting along the Chatham Main Line as far south as Rainham.

The unit is recreated in a high level of detail, with the interior seating plan, passenger information display and in-cab driver’s screens all featuring as part of a truly representative operating experience, as well as the ability to switch modes between third rail and overhead power and plentiful lighting and safety options to toggle.

Fans of Train Sim World 3 have been requesting the inclusion of the Class 700 since the release of the Southeastern Highspeed route which is now upgraded and extended in the game. This now takes the number of playable services to a hugely impressive 700. Players with the London Commuter and East Coastway route Add-ons can now make use of the Scenario Planner to recreate regular Class 700 services from Brighton to London, or their rarer trips through Lewes and Eastborne.

A bundle will be available that features all relevant Train Sim World 3 content for Souteastern Highspeed, including the Railhead Treatment Train, ROG Class 37, and Class 700. It’ll be the perfect introduction for new players who are coming to Train Sim World for the first time, or those that have yet to play the Southeastern Highspeed route.

Take to the tracks, master the machines and battle the elements. Control iconic locomotives from the USA, UK and Europe, hauling mile-long freight, high-speed passenger and busy commuter trains.

Capcom hosted a special presentation for Exoprimal that shared plenty of new details for their online team-based action game. During the Exoprimal Showcase, Director Takuro Hiraoka offered an early look at upcoming seasonal updates, crossovers with Monster Hunter and Street Fighter 6, ‘Final Mission Selection’ for Dino Survival, and more.

When Exoprimal launches later this week, it’ll feature a mode within Dino Survival called Final Mission Selection that offers three matchmaking options. PvP games sees two rival squads of Exofighters go head-to-head at the end of matches to decide who wins or gets “fed to the raptors.” PvE don’t involve direct PvP, but require speed to complete all objectives first in order to survive. The random option provides “the adventurous with a small experience bonus,” with fighters free to change preference settings to mix things up at any time.

As for the post-launch roadmap, the Exoprimal Showcase offered up plenty of interesting information for what fans can expect in the future. Season 1 begins when the game launches on Friday, with a brand new game mode commencing two weeks later on July 28 called ‘Savage Gauntlet.’ The new mode will challenge teams of five players with late PvE missions rotating weekly and can be replayed for higher rankings and rewards.

On August 17, Exoprimal will feature its first major title update including 10 Alpha variant Exosuits, with the alternate designs featuring completely different weapons from their standard counterparts. Season 2 will kick off in October, and includes a Street Fighter 6 collaboration, a new map and Final Mission, and more rigs and modules.

Finally, in January 2024, Season 3 begins and sees Beta variants of Exosuits, a brand new enemy called the Neo Triceratops, and a collaboration with Monster Hunter. You can watch the Exoprimal Showcase below:

PUBG Mobile will be launching a landmark crossover with Dragon Ball Super this Thursday, alongside a huge gameplay overhaul. Along with new items, vehicles, and areas, two new game modes are included: Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode and Battle ROyale: Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode will take place between July 13 and September 4 and will feature the classic PUBG Mobile battle royale gameplay with elements from the popular anime. Players can collect seven Dragon Balls to summon Shenron and make a wish at the Shenron Summoning Altar for powerful in-game buffs. There are four new areas that will replicate locations and architecture from the series (Dragon Ball Village, Tenkaichi Budokai, Kame House, and Karin Tower) and will feature various goodies for players to find. Players will also be able to travel around in the three-seater Air Car to get around the battlegrounds.

The new mode will also feature Ki energy, allowing players to eat Senzu Beans to gather the integral energy force to perform the Kamehameha beam and Buku-jutsu to fly freely at running speed, along with enhanced mobility on the ground. There will also be more details released soon regarding the hidden Dragon Ball Trial, where players will be tasked with searching for seven Dragon Balls.

The second mode coming to PUBG Mobile is Battle Royale: Dragon Ball Super, and it’ll transform the battlegrounds into a stylistic animated art style world between July 15 and September 4. Players will then be able to embody one of five iconic characters like Son Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo, and Ultimate Gohan. Players will need to gather Spirit Crystlets and Spirit Crystals to restore energy and upgrade their moves.

From July 14, a ton of themed outfits will be available, with more coming on August 11. As for the gameplay enhancements, Version 2.7 is set to improve the World of Wonder creative mode, add new content, rewards, and cosmetics to Cycle 5 Season 13, and more. 2K Games has fully revealed NBA 2K24, including the release date, modes, cross-play functionality, platforms, and the 25th anniversary version. Of course, it was confirmed yesterday (July 6th) that Kobe Bryant would be the cover star for the Black Mamba edition and Kobe Bryant edition, but now we have a plethora of details to go through.

However, just like with NBA 2K23, the cover star will have his own Mamba Moments in the game. 2K Games says you will be able to “recreate some of Kobe’s most captivating performances and progress through his transcendent journey from a young phenom to one of the greatest players of all time”. On top of that a new feature called “ProPLAY” translates real NBA footage into the NBA 2K24 gameplay will be featured, and 2K says it “delivers animations and movements via on-court NBA action for a generational leap in authenticity on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S”.

NBA 2K24 having cross-play is a big deal, as it’s a first for the series, and means that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X players can play together. Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts said: “As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball”, adding “while we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay”.

If you’re in the USA or Canada, you can also purchase a limited version of the WMBA Edition as a GameStop exclusive, and that cover features WMBA All-Star Sabrina Ionescu as the star.

Otherwise, there are three versions of the game, as follows:

Developer World Makers has confirmed the Deceit 2 release date for both PC and Consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X), and it’s coming on August 31st.

The release for Deceit 2 marks the first time the franchise has been on console, and it will include cross-play for people so you can play with PC users as well, if you do end up playing on console. The developer explains that there is “revamped gameplay mechanics, an overhauled graphics and lighting system built on Unreal Engine 5, and an immersive horror atmosphere that creates tense gameplay moments as Innocent players attempt to escape the Asylum from the clutches of hidden Terror players”.

Deceit 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter where you wake up in a group of players, of which two have been infected with a virus. Check out a trailer below to see what it’s all about:

Milhaven Asylum, 1979. An occult ritual goes horribly wrong, killing all but one member of a once prominent family. The case was left cold for decades until the fearless Truth Seekers Anonymous stepped in. Now, you’re imprisoned, forced to participate in the Ritual of Deceit at the hands of the malevolent Game Master.

Deceit 2 is a 6-9 player social deduction horror game where two among you have been Infected. Whilst the Infected do the Game Master’s bidding, the Innocent must work together to escape the Ritual whilst deducing who is plotting against them. So who can you trust?

Infected players can activate Weak Points located across the Ritual Site, weakening the veil of reality until it breaks. This transports all players to The In-Between, a parallel dimension in which the Infected have terrifying powers. Infected players will wreak havoc and sabotage the efforts of innocent players, but can be eliminated if exposed outside of the In-Between.

The original game came out in 2017 and we well received on Steam, currently sitting on a “Very Positive” rating, review wise.

When Chris White tried the sequel in May this year he said “Chatting amongst the survivors and coming up with a plan of action is also a way to play, giving you complete freedom during both phases. With only playing two phases, I didn’t get to see how many different scenarios between people played out, but the hints of intrigue and deception gave me a reason to get excited for when Deceit 2 releases this year. The possibilities seem endless, and I can’t wait to see new characters and locations added after release, as well as taking great pleasure in seeing just how creative I can be with my lies, and how clever I am when trying to weed out the evil”.

Deceit 2 is coming to PC and consoles on August 31st.

After revealing the likes of Sub-Zero and Liu Kang as leads in Mortal Kombat 1, it’s a bit of a surprise to see the next fighters announced as Smoke and Rain, but that’s exactly what Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios has done.

It’s all part of a new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer called “Lin Kuei” which shows how Scorpion and Sub-Zero are struggling to “establish the Lin Kuei’s purpose in Liu Kang’s new Mortal Kombat Universe”, so the trailer introduces Smoke, who is “a fellow member of the ancient warrior clan with a mastery of stealth and practical magic”. Smoke is deeply linked to Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and has “made the clan’s mission his own and joins his Lin Kuei brethren in defense of Earthrealm”.

Rain is also revealed as part of the trailer (as seen below), and Rain is the High Mage of Outworld who controls water magic, and “now hopes to learn the realms’ darkest and most powerful sorcery”. Elsewhere in the trailer you can see Sektor, Cyrax, Frost, and Scorpion as new Kameo Fighters, who can provide support moves and abilities during fights. You can also see some Johnny Cage in action, though he’s on the receiving end of a bit of a beating. You can also see who I presume is Kenshi getting beaten to a bloody pulp, too. Kung Lou also shows up for a bit as well.

Chris White played the recent network test for Mortal Kombat 1, and loved it, saying: “The four fighters in the Mortal Kombat 1 stress test gave me a good idea of how they play and the styles on offer, and the Kameo system could be a game changer when September rolls around. The visuals took my breath away, and the various fatalities were utterly brutal, especially Kenshi’s sword down the throat performance. Folks, I can’t wait to play more, and when the beta in August happens, I urge you to join me”.

Mortal Kombat 1 is due out on September 19th for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Odyssey Interactive has released a major update for Omega Strikers which adds lots more content, including a new mode, and as part of the content update, a mystery for a new character reveal which was solved by the community in under two hours.

Fans had been curious as to who the new character was, but the developer was surprised by how quickly fans worked it out, saying “Okay. Wow. You all revealed Finii in… less than 2 hours???! SO. Finii, the Tenacious Trickster, is available now!! Get into Omega Strikers, try her out, and have some fun with her gravity-bending magic!!”.

The game itself is free on all platforms, and this new update is called High-Tea Hijinks, and adds a host of new content, as follows:

• Rotating Goal Mode: a brand-new mode with rotating maps, featuring the four bubble tea teams and a challenge to reveal the culprit! All Strikers on the map will have their own Hijinx buff which will grant 125 Move Speed, 75 Power, 30 Ability Haste, 35% Size and increased in-game experience gain!
• New Maps: Flipped, Corner Pocket, Back to Back and About Face
• New Emotes: four new Emotes corresponding to each flavored team, with the winning team’s emote available for free at the end of the event and the remaining three available for purchase with Style Points
• New Titles: “Caffeinated”, “Boba” and “Jelly”, available through limited-time event rewards
• New Emoticons: “Dubu Barista” and a mystery emoticon, available through limited-time event rewards

As well as that, there are quality of life improvements and bug fixes, with a full list available here.

Lyle really likes Omega Strikers, and gave the game a 9/10 score in his review, saying: “Omega Strikers is a fantastic and innovative multiplayer game, which is easy to jump into but has plenty to master. Learning how to best use different characters is seriously compelling, and those progression hooks kept me coming back for more every single day. With a bit of luck and regular updating, this could be the multiplayer success story we’ve needed in 2023”.
