As revealed a few weeks back, Street Fighter 6 just got a bigger roster, with 19th character Rashid being added via DLC.

Available on all formats, you can grab Rashid via the year 1 character pass, by having the Deluxe Edition of Street Fighter 6, or the Ultimate Edition, or just by using 350 fighter coins to unlock him, which will include his outfit 1, and colours 1 & 2. If you’d rather not try him via those methods, you can also use an hour long rental fighter ticket, which you can get via the in-game fighting pass.

Rasid will be eligible for competition use at Evo 2023 (August 4th-6th), as well, so expect to see him in action there. If you do unlock him, as well as the usual ways of playing as a fighter, he’s also going to be part of the World Tour campaign where you can get his moveset. You’ll need to have completed the World Tour mode to access the new missions that have been added “featuring the Mike Haggar Memorial Stadium Tournament and Suval’hal Arena”.

Here’s a list of some of his moves:

 • Arabian Cyclone: A new special move that performs a spinning kick and conjures up a whirlwind; can be used as a standalone blow, or transitioned into Rolling Assault or Wing Stroke
 • Arabian Skyhigh: A new double jump move that keeps opponents guessing on where Rashid will land from the air
 • Super Rashid Kick: Level 1 Super Art that unloads a devastating kick while soaring forward and up through the air
 • Ysaar: Previously Rashid’s V-Trigger move in Street Fighter™ V, this Level 2 Super Art summons a slow-moving whirlwind projectile that can be used to pressure opponents
 • Altair: Rashid’s Level 3 Super Art calls forth a tempest that lifts opponents before he rains down on them with a monsoon of powerful blows

Street Fighter 6 is out now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.

]]>

In our Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide we will teach you how to farm the mighty Purple Pikmin, which you’ll need in order to 100% the game.

As you progress through the story mode of Pikmin 4, you will naturally come across every type you need, from Red to the more secret ones later on, but the type that’s essential for 100% completion, is the mighty Purple lads and lasses. There are a few ways you can get lots and lots of them, but our Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide will net you ten new purples every few minutes, so read on to find out how. We’ve even included a handy video guide for you if you fancy, so subscribe to our YouTube Channel to never miss another video.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide: how many do I really need?

Chances are if you’re even searching for a Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide, then you know why you need at least 90, if not 100 of the little friends, and that’s to get the largest and heaviest treasure from the final location. Yes, to get the gold bar you’ll need 1000 strength, and the purple Pikmin have 100 each, so you can do the sums here, and work out that without Oatchie, you’d need 100 of them, or 90 and a maxed-out Oatchie who can add 100 to the strength meter.

Where to farm them?

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

You’ll need to be a little way into the game, but not that far, and have unlocked “Hero’s Hideaway” as a destination. Here, the easiest starting location is 2. Feasting Centre. From there head to Plunder Palace, which is a dungeon with 5 sublevels, and you need to ride a lift up after climbing up a few little objects.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

Take any ten Pikmin you fancy, it doesn’t matter, but know they will be converting to purples, so don’t bring any critters you will miss. Hit start and button through any menus or animations, then immediately head under the toys past a giant breadbug, and up the ramp, bending left towards the first Pikmin flower.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

Throw your first five Pikmin in, collect up your new five purples, and head to the lift. If you’re quick enough, on some cycles this can all be done without waiting for the lift at all.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide

Once up the lift, ignore any enemies and run diagonally across the table to the next purple flower. Hop down and throw five more in, and collect up your new purples.

Lastly, with your ten new friends in tow, jump off the chair and sprint with Oatchie to the exit. Skip all the scenes, and that’s it, you’ve got ten more purple Pikmin.

Next steps

All you have to do now is turn around, jump back in and repeat the steps above. It should take less than two minutes to get ten new purple friends, meaning you can get up to or over 100 in no time at all.

If you’re still struggling, check out our full video walkthrough, below.

]]>

It’s probably not much of a shock to hear that Pikmin 4 is a good game. With a free demo, and three previous games to go off, it’s not a surprise to know that Nintendo has made another good title in the series. What is a surprise, however, is quite how much the developer has gone to town on Pikmin 4, breaking it out into something so huge, so engrossing that, after thirty hours, I was still going back in for more.

Sometimes it seems like a Switch-era Nintendo thing to do. Take a beloved franchise and flip it on its head, adding in ideas and depth that you just wouldn’t ever think of. Pikmin 4 does this as well, removing much of the time constraints (though not all), adding in night modes, reviving caves that were missing from the third entry, and just creating the most full Pikmin title to date. It does that thing when you finish it, like so many current-era Nintendo games, by making you wonder “where the hell do they go next?”.

This time around you’re playing rescuer to Olimar, with a created avatar leading the rescue mission, along with faithful pooch, Oatchie. As before, you explore the oversized worlds with your miniature adventurer, collecting treasures for your collection. But right away, the feeling of quite how “big” this game is, shows its hand.

Pikmin 4 review

Now, you’re finding treasures which transform into power for your ship. You need to power it up to boost the radar to find levels deeper into the world to explore, and eventually get enough juice to escape with everyone you save. There are resources that can be gathered and spent in an item shop, upgrading yourself and Oatchie, or buying items. Oatchie can be upgraded too via his Pup Drive. For every person you rescue it’ll gain a Pup Drive Point, and before you know it your two-legged dog is able to wield the power of 100 Pikmin by itself, can swim, dash, kill foes in one go, and so on. This is Pikmin, but not as you know it.

Levels are enclosed but huge, but there are caves you can explore which will also be filled with treasures, and it’s often where you’ll meet new creatures in Pikmin 4. For those who aren’t aware, the leafy plant-based creatures you control throughout the adventure are the titular Pikmin, and each colour signifies a different kind of use. Red is fire and also your generic worker. Yellow handles electricity, Blueys can swim and venture underwater: every type has its use. New to Pikmin 4 is the ice type (light blue), and they are superb. Able to freeze enemies in place, in thirty hours I never got tired of bombarding a giant enemy with masses of light blue icy friends, then charging into them with Oatchie and utterly decimating them with the rest of my army.

Pikmin 4 review

The levels are also really clever, and designed in a way that you might set off to do one thing, only to be distracted by something else you have spotted, and spend your entire day doing that instead. There are side quests now, too, offering reasons to play more, expand your Pikmin army, and find survivors. Whether it’s being rewarded for blooming more Pikmin, or building more bridge structures, there’s always positive reinforcement happening back at your home base after a day spent in the field.

And it could have stopped there and still been a really good Pikmin game. But no, this time around, you can adventure out during the night. While I won’t spoil the reason behind why you do this, I will say the night missions are anything but a gentle sojourn. The creatures are rabid at night, with glowing red eyes, and all of a sudden it becomes a tower defence game. You control the green Glowmin here, and have to gather enough of them to defend against growing armies wanting to topple your bases and fail your mission for you. The music ramps up and screeches orchestrally at you: it’s an actual stressfest and a nightmare, but it’s brilliant, and offers a break from the “regular” Pikmin moments you might be used to.

Dandori is a word you’re going to hear a lot during Pikmin 4. On top of everything else, there are multiple Dandori battles within each level of the main game. Here your screen is split in half and you face off against an opponent, and the idea is you need to get enough points by grabbing treasures, enemy bodies, gold, and more, to win the match. There are bonuses for certain items, and even this mode evolves over time to become more and more complex. Some Dandori battles are just timed solo missions, and the idea behind the word is that you plan accordingly and execute a strategy, while also being able to change on the fly. And let me tell you, getting the platinum medal on one of these missions is as satisfying a thing as I’ve done all year. It requires you to entirely clear a stage of all treasures, enemies, and items. It’s great.

Pikmin 4 review

The deeper you venture into Pikmin 4, the more it reveals itself. Early stages offer simple battles and puzzles to solve with your strategy, but by the end you need to understand why and how things work, especially if you want to unlock and see everything. There is just so much game here, it’s difficult not to be impressed by what’s on offer. Everything is underpinned by adorable visuals, and a soundtrack and audio design that’ll almost certainly be overlooked by most. But when you hear the Pikmin singing as you’re wandering around, or hear footsteps change from metallic sounding to cardboard underfoot, it deserves to be applauded.

I understand why people might be reluctant to dive in with Pikmin on the fourth entry. But this is a proper, truly modernised version of a series that is crying out for more love. The storytelling, gameplay, and wealth of things to do makes it a great jumping-in point for newcomers, while fans will adore the easter eggs and new things to do. You don’t need to know how many times Olimar has been brilliant, because this is a new adventure; this is your adventure. Pikmin 4 has magic within it, and is a truly accessible, brilliant experience for all ages. I’ve always liked the series but this is something pretty special.

The post EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team | What’s new, what’s changed? appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out how FC 24 Ultimate Team shakes things up for the most talked-about mode in the title. Starting out as a paid addon many years back, FC 24 Ultimate Team is a chance for the developer to make big changes, as you don’t get the chance to make a brand new game in a sports series very often.

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, and of course, Ultimate Team was front and centre, with Garreth Reeder (Senior Producer) and Jean Teather (Producer) kicking things off talking about the brand new feature: Evolutions.

FC 24 Ultimate Team: Evolutions

The idea behind Evolutions is that you can create an ultimate team player card that nobody else has. Reeder explained it’s “a new feature that lets you upgrade player ratings, skills, positions, and the items themselves”, and that yes, these would be permanent upgrades.

EA isn’t ready to show us any ratings for FC 24 Ultimate Team just yet, so used last year’s FIFA 23 ratings for examples.

Using Youssoufa Moukoko from Dortmund as an example, completing challenges they were able to get him from a 69-rated silver card, to an 85-rated gold. Once you start the process, a player is marked as an “in progress player” and the game will track his actions and progress, as you complete challenges. You might hit tier one first, which takes him from 69 overall, up to 77. Even after you hit 85 as a max, that might not be the end. A new evolution might fit the player and can keep growing him, which allows you to have a player you take through your whole season.

FC 24 La Liga walkout

Play Style and Play Style+

As per the main game, Play Style and Play Style+ are present in Ultimate Team. Tying into the evolutions mechanic, Teather explained that “Special and campaign items can be upgraded, too”. As an example, FIFA 23 Jude Bellingham Team of the Week got a Play Style+ upgrade and better stats. You can even upgrade the cosmetics of your Ultimate Team cards, and EA Sports has signed a deal with Nike to make custom animations for FC 24.

PlayStyles+ are visible on the cards to the left side of the card. There are going to be some seriously impressive cards fully upgraded. TOTW cards might have added PS+ attributes because of real-world stuff. The producers explained that if someone like Erling Haaland scored an amazing-headed goal in the Premier League, he could end up with a TOTW card that had the Power Header Play Style Plus attribute.

Position Changes

You can finally change players with ease, adding better stats and Play Style additions along the way. Instead of relying on cards from packs or the market to change someone from, let’s say, a CDM to a CM, you can change them wholesale. We’re talking players like Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk moving from centre-back into midfield. We even saw goalkeepers as strikers.

FC 24 Ultimate Team: Women’s football

This new game has given EA Sports the chance to add female players into Ultimate Team, meaning you can mix and match squads, or even have an all-female Ultimate Team squad. This brings in new chemistry options, so Chelsea players like Sam Kerr will have good chemistry with players from the Chelsea men’s team.

There are six new women’s football competitions represented: Women’s Super League, champions cup, Liga F, D1 Arkema, Frauen-Bundesliga, and the NWSL. The player stats are linked to the competition they play in the real world, not against the numbers for the male players.

Icon chemistry, finally fixed

Lastly of major note, EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team will have fixes that make the icons easier to use. Now they will give chemistry for every league represented in the squad. So this means that you don’t have to worry about the position modifier step, you can just move players around and they’l;l gain chemistry for their alternate and primary positions.

EA Sports FC 24 launches on all formats on September 29th, 2023.

The post EA Sports FC 24 Career mode | What’s new and what’s changed? appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out how FC 24 Career Mode shakes things up for the much-loved, but often missed-out mode in the series. Career Mode is often the place many of us will spend hundreds of hours, but sometimes it’s a mode that gets forgotten or left behind a bit.

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, and FC 24 career mode had a big part of that, with Alex Constantinescu (Principal Game Designer) and Pete O’Donnell (Game Design Director) speaking about not one, but two modes, as Player and Manager career are split up this year.

Manager Career: tactical vision

EA says this year the focus is on a “total management system”, offering more control, and a chance to implant your tactical vision onto a team. There are seven tactical visions to choose from, including the likes of Tika Taka, Gegenpressing, Park the Bus, and so on.

This plays into some of the other new features for FC 24 such as Play Styles. For example, you can now focus on individual fixtures in terms of preparation. You’ll get pre-match reports, and therefore you and your backroom staff can prepare a training plan. This means you can select drills that exploit the weaknesses of your upcoming opponent, and will allow you to gain temporary Play Style bonuses for players who otherwise wouldn’t have them. If you’re up against a team that plays “Park the Bus” for instance, you can train with the “Drill Maze” and that will give lesser talented players temporary access to the Technical Dribbler Play Style.

EA Sports FC 24 Career mode

FC 24 career mode: coaches and backroom staff

As well as hiring scouts, now you have to hire backroom staff in the form of coaches. The idea is that you’ve set your stall out as a manager who likes Tika Taka, you’ll hire coaches that also help in that area, making you upgrade your players and get the tactics across more quickly.

EA’s team explained that the idea is to combine your tactical vision with your coaching staff to get the best results.

Tactical view

Tactical view is a new camera angle for spectating matches. You can focus on a single player, or you can orbit the ball. Crucially you can make changes as the match goes on, and honestly, some of it reminded me of the old FIFA Manager games, and more recently, of course, the Football Manager series.

FC 24 career mode: player career

Not to be outdone, Player Career now includes player agents. You will be offered guidance and objectives that will help you try to make your career path trajectory. Basically, on-the-pitch objectives that, should you achieve them, can make your dream move a reality.

Of course, you can also incorporate the Play Style system into your pro, and the player cam will have a larger focus on you as a player. That’s not all, however, as you can now win the Ballon D’or award in-game, with a cut scene playing out and everything. There are other awards you can win, but EA hasn’t revealed them yet.

EA Sports FC 24 launches on all formats on September 29th, 2023.

]]>

It’s tempting to say the devil is in the details of EA Sports FC 24. After spending a weekend playing a pre-beta build of the game, there are reasons to be impressed with what EA is attempting with it’s brand new, not-FIFA title, while there are also elements that will undoubtedly feel familiar to people who have ploughed in hundreds and hundreds of hours of the past year, let alone the past few years.

The truth of the matter is, that a lot of what EA is doing to make EA Sports FC 24 stand out this year isn’t on offer to actually play yet. While we have a feature that details all the changes that make it a different prospect, I want to talk about how the game feels on the pitch, at least in the current state, which is admittedly subject to change, and EA says it’ll be listening to feedback to potentially make those changes.

That said, the presentation is another level up for FC 24. New menus and UI is one thing, but EA is attempting to push things a little further than even the broadcasters do right now, and as such has implemented some new unique stat overlays that’ll appear on the pitch, such as “Most Fatigued Players”, giving you an idea of either how much you’re over-using the sprint button, or perhaps just over-doing the wide play, which could even give you an idea why you can’t break down an opposition team’s defense.

EA Sports FC 24

Lighting is better, there’s a focus on showing what’s happening off the pitch a little more, and all manner of smaller touches that make it feel both more authentic, and less immersion-breaking than before. New features and buzzwords such as “GPU Cloth” (a fancy way of saying that shirts and kits look and react more realistically) and “EA Sports Sapien Technology” (muscles have been mapped to understand and replicate how the flex and move) are all present, as is the “GTAO” or “Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion” (better lighting and shadows), and all this adds up to make this simple statement true: FC 24 looks great, and better than ever before, with more realistic looking players, crowds, and stadiums.

But without question, the most significant change from FIFA 23 to EA Sports FC 24 is the introduction of “Play Style” and “Play Style Plus”. Have you ever played a match in any FIFA and you’ve gone to tackle an opposition player, won it cleanly, and the ball has somehow remained in their possession? That’s a rhetorical question, because of course you have. Ping-pong tackling has been a problem in football games for as long as I can remember, but the Play Style that the likes of Nathan Ake for Manchester City has now, means he has extra animations and will keep the ball close to him when making that tackle, and thus eliminating the frustration of making a great tackle, but somehow still not winning the ball. While I’d question slightly the choice of Ake in this pre-beta to show off that Play Style Plus, the execution is superb, and something I’ve been waiting to see addressed for the longest time.

There are three tiers to Play Style in EA Sports FC 24. Some players will be more generic, and have no Play Style. The next tier is for more well-known players who have been identified using OPTA (the stats people, no less) to have those Play Styles, while the top-tier professionals have the plus moniker. In practice, this means someone like Bernado Silva who has the Play Style Plus dribbling bonus will be just that bit better on the ball than someone without the plus, who will in turn be better than someone without it.

EA Sports FC 24

This all amounts to additional animations that only the right players will have. Speed dribbler, block, power shot, power header, dead ball, tricksters, and more, these boosts are going to make certain players feel very important in the new game, and should combine with things like the improved collision system which should mean that when a physical battle happens, there are fairer outcomes based on who is actually involved in the battle. For example, Rhodri for City isn’t that fast, but he’s economical with the ball and wins his duels, and that’s exactly how he felt in the matches I played. Mbappe is going to outpace him, but that’s no longer the be-all and end of the gameplay, and while my sample pool was limited to just four teams, there’s a lot of early promise here that suggest FC 24 might not just end up a pace-fest like FIFA 23 did.

There are new features worth noting, such as the precision passing that benefits the players who can utilise it. Holding left trigger, right bumper, and triangle will allow you to perform a swerved precision pass, and a line will appear on the screen showing you in advance where it’s going to go. There’s a new effort dribble touch that will make your player stretch out a leg to make contact with the ball sooner, so if it looks like you’re going to lose the ball to a tackle, you can get an extra touch in and move away.

Four new skill moves (skill rainbow, flair nutmeg, ball roll drag, drag back turn) have been added, and a controlled sprint dribble that’s somewhere between a standard jog and a full sprint offers more control over faster movement without hitting a full sprint. It all works, and it’s all very promising. But FIFA 23 wasn’t a bad game on the pitch, for the most part, so these changes don’t feel revolutionary, instead evolving a good game into a better one.

EA Sports FC 24

In truth, the biggest changes seem like they are under the hood, with massive updates to Ultimate Team and Career Mode. So far, EA Sports FC 24 looks and sounds the business, and there’s even a new secondary commentary team this year in the form of Guy Mowbray and Sue Smith. It plays a damn fine game of football, offering balanced matches that retain the feeling they could go either way, like proper football should. Tactics matter, players matter, and it really could be something special.

It really does feel like Ultimate Team and Career Mode have been given the biggest boosts off the pitch, and I’m dying to find out how what EA has told us actually plays out when experienced firsthand. Fingers crossed this early hands-on isn’t misleading, then, because so far EA Sports FC 24 is onto a winner, with smart additions, tweaks, and under-the-hood changes. It may not be a full-on revolution on the pitch, but it certainly did leave me wanting to sample the rest of the game in detail.

As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out if any attention has been paid to FC 24 Pro Clubs. Will cross-play be included this time around, what of the league systems, and can anything be done to stop smurf accounts making new players feel rubbish?

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, including Jeff Antwi, Line Producer for Clubs & Volta, because yes, first things first: they’ve dropped the “Pro” to match the branding of the game now. Introducing FC 24 Clubs.

FC 24 Pro Clubs: cross-play

So aside from that major change to the name, the biggest news is that Antwi confirmed cross-play for both clubs and Volta Football. This will include all match types, so that’s drop-in, friendly, playoffs, and leagues.

There will also be all new virtual pro content produced all year round, including gear by Nike as EA Sports has signed a new partnership with the brand. Play Styles (and the Play Style Plus) will be available in clubs for virtual pros.

The league structure for EA Sports FC 24 Pro Clubs (now clubs!) has been overhauled. Antwi explained this is to keep the competition “fresh for the entire year”. It will reset every six weeks, and you’ll have an all-new trophy room.

The idea is to build your club’s identity each league season, as every club match will contribute toward a shared club progression, adding fans as you get bigger and better. Fans are an experience bar of sorts, and as you get more, you will unlock bigger stadiums and more customisation content, and your AI teammates will also improve, getting better overall ratings. There are new rewards for every season, from banners to colours, lighting to inflatables, and there are also new animated TIFOs.

Volta mode

While Volta will also get the customisation options that come in through the partnership with Nike, and also benefit from the cross-play functionality, EA Sports hasn’t revealed any other major new ideas or content for Volta in FC 24.

EA Sports FC 24 launches on all formats on September 29th, 2023.

]]>

Xbox Game Pass Core has been announced by Microsoft as a replacement for the most basic tier of Xbox Live Gold membership, which will be happening on September 14th.

Xbox Live Gold has been around for about 20 years now, but with Xbox Game Pass Core you will get a collection of over 25 games for the cost of £6.99 a month, or £49.99 per year. If you’re a current XBLG member, you don’t actually need to do anything if you’re happy with the service going forwards, as it’ll automatically update at launch to reflect the new membership name and status.

Here’s the list of games that will be part of Xbox Game Pass Core. Note that the Xbox team says there will be new titles added two to three times a year.

There are four plans, total, as per the image below.

Jerret West, CVP, Gaming Marketing explained on the official blog post, and said: “Thank you to everyone who has been with us since the early days, joined along the way with friends, and now with us in Xbox Game Pass. I’m proud and humbled by the stories we hear about online teammates becoming real-life friends after years playing, or even marriages whose initial spark was ignited in a pre-match lobby. We can’t wait to hear more from the community when it launches on September 14, and we’ll see you online!”.

Here’s some quick bullet points for you:

 • On September 14, Xbox Live Gold members will automatically become Game Pass Core members, with no change in pricing, and have immediate access to a new library of over 25 high-quality games.
 • Member deals & discounts will also be part of Game Pass Core.
 • Games with Gold will come to an end on September 1.
 • Players can continue to access any Xbox One games they previously redeemed through Games with Gold if they remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member.
 • Regardless of subscription status, any Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold in the past will be kept in a player’s library.

The iOS and Android RPG Avatar Generations has added an iconic moment from season 1 of The Last Airbender. The update is based on the episode where Gaang breaks Earth Benders out of a Fire Nation mining prison, called “Imprisoned”.

You can check out the preview trailer for the update here:

As you’d expect, the new characters and gameplay expansion for the title is via a free update on both Apple iOS devices and Android, too, and includes a new campaign and five new playable heroes, all under the moniker of “The Prison Break Update”. It wasn’t that log ago that the game got five more new rebel characters via an update, so the developer Navigator Games is certainly delivering for fans at the moment.

Occupied by the Fire Nation, the Earthbenders of a small mining village are arrested and sent to a metal prison where earthbending is neutralized. When Haru, a friend of Team Avatar, is arrested, Katara, Sokka, and Aang must infiltrate the prison and convince Haru and his father Tyro to lead the Earthbenders to revolt against The Warden.

Beginning today, players can explore the Prison Rig and collect Haru and Prisoner Haru, Prisoner Tyro, leader of the Earthbender Prisoners, Prisoner Katara, and The Warden. A special addition, the spirit General Old Iron from The Rift graphic novel, will also be available to collect in July. Avatar Studios, alongside Nickelodeon, are directly involved in all artwork and animations to bring these canon characters to life in the game.

Avatar Generations is a mobile RPG adventure in which players assemble teams of iconic heroes and villains as they experience the series’ core story, all-new original adventures and never-before-seen gameplay of Avatar Kyoshi. Players strategize in turn-based battles, utilizing team synergy and formations. The free-to-play “cozy sim” MMO that was recently featured in a Nintendo Direct, Palia has announced its closed beta date is starting on August 2nd, ahead of the open beta on August 10th.

Palia sign-ups are pretty easy to do, as you just need to create an account on the official site, and then access to the closed beta will start rolling out from August 2nd to registered users ahead of that open beta around a week later. If you do get in the closed one, your progress will continue through the open beta, and beyond.

Palia is a new IP from developer Singularity 6, and the team says it’s a “first-of-its-kind community sim multiplayer title that offers a unique blend of community building, adventure, and relaxation in a world that players can call home”. There were more than 600,000 alpha test sign ups when the game was first announced, and as the developer says that “demand to get into Palia’s Alpha tests highlights that players are eager to dive into the game’s wholesome open-world, breathtaking and vibrant visuals, character and housing customization, deep lore, and enticing mystery”.

Palia builds on beloved community sim gameplay mechanics, such as farming, crafting, player and housing customization, and quest exploration by adding a meaningful story, as well as progression and social systems akin to what’s typically seen in MMO games. These multiplayer mechanics, such as a persistent shared-world and an evolving world story, are streamlined to put a greater emphasis on community engagement and developing meaningful in-game connections. Players will work together to hunt, fish, garden, forage, and more as they unravel the secrets of Palia’s always-evolving adventure and meet new friends to help along the journey.

“We designed Palia to challenge genre conventions and bring people together in a cozy MMO where they can forge new friendships, and we’re thrilled to finally welcome new players to create the coziest versions of themselves,” said Aidan Karabaich, Co-Founder and Game Director at Singularity 6. “We’ve worked hard to create an experience that feels like a relaxing home away from home, and we view our Beta phase as the next step in a continuous journey to expand and improve the game alongside our players. We hope you’ll join us”.

There will be a special gameplay “first look” livestream for the title on July 18th at 10am PT / 6pm BST (UK), and you can catch that on the game’s official YouTube Channel.

Palia is coming to closed beta on August 2nd, and open beta on August 10th.

The post Developer Gardens raises $31 million in funding from major investors appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Developer Gardens has announced it has raised $31.3million from its Series A funding, featuring support from some major players in the industry.

The round of funding was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Krafton, while Dreamhaven (co-founded by the long-time CEO of Blizzard), TIRTAA, Nate Mitchell (co-founder of Oculus), Seth Sivak (VP of Development on World of Warcraft), Julien Merceron (CTO of Bandai Namco), and Craig Kallman (CEO of Atlantic Records) were all among the other members included in the list of industry names.

This funding isn’t all, though, as the company also includes Jack Tretton (formerly of Sony) and John W. Thompson (former Microsoft Chairman), and Ben Feder (former Tencent and Take-Two CEO), along with Yamauchi No 10 (Nintendo Family) to its advisory team.

Gardens co-founder and CTO Lexie Dostal was heartened by the positive reception, saying: “It’s both inspiring and validating to see so much excitement around our vision for this game and studio, especially from these incredibly accomplished investors and partners. Folks with deep ties to Blizzard, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, PUBG, Riot Games, Tencent, and more are all coming together around Gardens; we couldn’t be more excited for the party we’ve assembled and the next chapter of our adventure together”.

Gardens co-founder and game director Chris Bell also spoke on the investment, confirming the studio will be making an “ever-evolving” online PvPvE fantasy adventure sandbox ARPG, saying: “It’s a game inspired by our favourite memories playing online RPGs, MMOs, and fantasy action-adventure games over the years, memories of crossing paths with strangers”.

Bell added, “The game builds upon multiplayer ideas and lessons from previous titles I helped design like Journey, Sky, and even my student game Way, while bringing players into a higher stakes, shapeshifting fantasy wilderness where cooperation is key, yet betrayal is still possible. We’re including novel cooperative gameplay that rewards players who help each other, which can encourage friendship and dialogue with PvP and conflict in interesting and subversive ways. We’re growing the world we want to play in every day, a world designed to offer new experiences every time you play, growing and evolving for years to come. Thanks to our amazing new partners and this latest round of funding, we can continue crafting the best game possible while growing and supporting our incredible team”.

The team includes industry veterans from such acclaimed games as Sky: Children of the Light, Journey, What Remains of Edith Finch, Blaseball, Ultima Online, Outer Wilds, Tunic, Dustforce, and Ashen, and films such as The Hobbit and The Adventures of Tintin.

The post Cursed to Golf and Pixeljunk Scrappers devs form new studio, Denkiworks appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The developers behind Cursed to Golf and Pixeljunk Scrappers have teamed up again to create a brand new, Kyoto-based studio called Denkiworks, which already has its first title in development, codenamed Project Tanuki.

Made up of Liam Edwards (Designer), Taku Arioka (Designer), and Jan de Graaf (Programmer), the term Denkiworks has two meanings. Denki, in Japanese, means “electricity”, but also apparently carries a second meaning of “spark of creativity”, which is a fine motto for a developer, really.

The three co-founders were working a Q-Games, having worked on Pixeljunk Scrappers, which is soon coming back around as Pixeljunk Scrappers Deluxe on July 27th, though the team are not involved in that port of the game. Following development wrapping up on that title, Edwards left Q-Games to create Cursed to Golf with Chuhai Labs, and after that, reunited with the other two co-founders to create Denkiworks, with the plan to create future indie games that are unique and have an “East meets West perspective”.

Liam Edwards was excited to reveal the studio, saying “We’ve been hard at work on our first title, inspired by our experiences of life in Japan, coming from an expat and native perspective,” “It’s essentially a love letter to this country and its beautiful culture. We all have an idealised vision of what Japan is, especially its stunning countryside, popularised in art and media over centuries. Project Tanuki will be our take on that”.

Jan de Graaf said: “Our experience working together on Pixeljunk Scrappers was a really special collaboration and we all gelled really well together creatively”, adding “We joked back then that one day we’d re-unite to make a game again. I don’t think we actually thought it would happen, but here we are.. We’re honoured to now be able to plant our personal flag in the Japanese indie scene. If you’re attending BitSummit, please say hi”.

“Forming a new studio is always risky, but we needed to take ourselves out of our comfort zone,” said Taku Arioka. “We have so many ideas and needed complete creative freedom to pursue them. “It’s been so stimulating to collaborate with Liam and Jan again, and work on the new project has been progressing so well already. We cannot wait to reveal it to the world!”.

The post NBA 2K24 is coming September 8th, will feature cross-play appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

2K Games has fully revealed NBA 2K24, including the release date, modes, cross-play functionality, platforms, and the 25th anniversary version. Of course, it was confirmed yesterday (July 6th) that Kobe Bryant would be the cover star for the Black Mamba edition and Kobe Bryant edition, but now we have a plethora of details to go through.

However, just like with NBA 2K23, the cover star will have his own Mamba Moments in the game. 2K Games says you will be able to “recreate some of Kobe’s most captivating performances and progress through his transcendent journey from a young phenom to one of the greatest players of all time”. On top of that a new feature called “ProPLAY” translates real NBA footage into the NBA 2K24 gameplay will be featured, and 2K says it “delivers animations and movements via on-court NBA action for a generational leap in authenticity on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S”.

NBA 2K24 having cross-play is a big deal, as it’s a first for the series, and means that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X players can play together. Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts said: “As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball”, adding “while we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay”.

If you’re in the USA or Canada, you can also purchase a limited version of the WMBA Edition as a GameStop exclusive, and that cover features WMBA All-Star Sabrina Ionescu as the star.

NBA 2K24

Otherwise, there are three versions of the game, as follows:

 • The brand new, limited availability 25th Anniversary Edition will be available through September 10, 2023 for £129.99 on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The exclusive 25th Anniversary Edition includes a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass courtesy of Take Two; a Summer League Pre-Order Bonus (available from July 7 – July 17, 2023); 100K Virtual Currency and MyTEAM content, including 50K MyTEAM Points; a Ruby Cover Star Kobe Bryant “Rookie Card”; an all-new 2K24 Option Pack Box; One 10-pack Box MyTEAM Promo Packs; a Kobe Bryant Cover Star Sapphire Card (24 era); 1 Diamond Shoe; 1 Ruby Coach; and a new 2-hour Double XP Coin; as well as MyCAREER content, including 15x 6 types of MyCAREER Skill Boosts; 15x 3 types of Gatorade Boosts; a 2-hour Double XP Coin; 4x MyCAREER T-Shirts; Backpack; Electric Skateboard; and Arm Sleeves a new Black Mamba MyPLAYER Capsule featuring a Black Arm Sleeve, Purple Oversized T-Shirt, a Yellow T-shirt and a Kobe Player Panel.
 • The Black Mamba Edition will be available for £89.99 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC; along with 100K Virtual Currency and MyTEAM content, including 15K MyTEAM Points; an all-new 2K24 Option Pack Box; One 10-pack Box MyTEAM Promo Packs; a Kobe Bryant Cover Star Sapphire Card (24 era); 1 Diamond Shoe; 1 Ruby Coach; and a new 2-hour Double XP Coin; as well as MyCAREER content, including 10x 6 types of MyCAREER Skill Boosts; 10x 3 types of Gatorade Boosts; a 2-hour Double XP Coin; 4x MyCAREER T-Shirts; Backpack; Electric Skateboard; and Arm Sleeves.
 • The Kobe Bryant Edition will be available for £59.99 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC and £69.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

It’s worth noting that the Black Mamba Edition and the 25th Anniversary Edition include dual-generation access, so if you want to play on the current and old-gen of consoles for your preferred format, you’ll need to get either of those versions.

NBA 2K24 will be released on September 8th.

The post Deceit 2 release date confirmed, it’s coming in August appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Developer World Makers has confirmed the Deceit 2 release date for both PC and Consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X), and it’s coming on August 31st.

The release for Deceit 2 marks the first time the franchise has been on console, and it will include cross-play for people so you can play with PC users as well, if you do end up playing on console. The developer explains that there is “revamped gameplay mechanics, an overhauled graphics and lighting system built on Unreal Engine 5, and an immersive horror atmosphere that creates tense gameplay moments as Innocent players attempt to escape the Asylum from the clutches of hidden Terror players”.

Deceit 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter where you wake up in a group of players, of which two have been infected with a virus. Check out a trailer below to see what it’s all about:

Milhaven Asylum, 1979. An occult ritual goes horribly wrong, killing all but one member of a once prominent family. The case was left cold for decades until the fearless Truth Seekers Anonymous stepped in. Now, you’re imprisoned, forced to participate in the Ritual of Deceit at the hands of the malevolent Game Master.

Deceit 2 is a 6-9 player social deduction horror game where two among you have been Infected. Whilst the Infected do the Game Master’s bidding, the Innocent must work together to escape the Ritual whilst deducing who is plotting against them. So who can you trust?

Infected players can activate Weak Points located across the Ritual Site, weakening the veil of reality until it breaks. This transports all players to The In-Between, a parallel dimension in which the Infected have terrifying powers. Infected players will wreak havoc and sabotage the efforts of innocent players, but can be eliminated if exposed outside of the In-Between.

The original game came out in 2017 and we well received on Steam, currently sitting on a “Very Positive” rating, review wise.

When Chris White tried the sequel in May this year he said “Chatting amongst the survivors and coming up with a plan of action is also a way to play, giving you complete freedom during both phases. With only playing two phases, I didn’t get to see how many different scenarios between people played out, but the hints of intrigue and deception gave me a reason to get excited for when Deceit 2 releases this year. The possibilities seem endless, and I can’t wait to see new characters and locations added after release, as well as taking great pleasure in seeing just how creative I can be with my lies, and how clever I am when trying to weed out the evil”.

Deceit 2 is coming to PC and consoles on August 31st.

The post Mortal Kombat 1 trailer reveals Smoke and Rain appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

After revealing the likes of Sub-Zero and Liu Kang as leads in Mortal Kombat 1, it’s a bit of a surprise to see the next fighters announced as Smoke and Rain, but that’s exactly what Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios has done.

It’s all part of a new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer called “Lin Kuei” which shows how Scorpion and Sub-Zero are struggling to “establish the Lin Kuei’s purpose in Liu Kang’s new Mortal Kombat Universe”, so the trailer introduces Smoke, who is “a fellow member of the ancient warrior clan with a mastery of stealth and practical magic”. Smoke is deeply linked to Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and has “made the clan’s mission his own and joins his Lin Kuei brethren in defense of Earthrealm”.

Rain is also revealed as part of the trailer (as seen below), and Rain is the High Mage of Outworld who controls water magic, and “now hopes to learn the realms’ darkest and most powerful sorcery”. Elsewhere in the trailer you can see Sektor, Cyrax, Frost, and Scorpion as new Kameo Fighters, who can provide support moves and abilities during fights. You can also see some Johnny Cage in action, though he’s on the receiving end of a bit of a beating. You can also see who I presume is Kenshi getting beaten to a bloody pulp, too. Kung Lou also shows up for a bit as well.

Chris White played the recent network test for Mortal Kombat 1, and loved it, saying: “The four fighters in the Mortal Kombat 1 stress test gave me a good idea of how they play and the styles on offer, and the Kameo system could be a game changer when September rolls around. The visuals took my breath away, and the various fatalities were utterly brutal, especially Kenshi’s sword down the throat performance. Folks, I can’t wait to play more, and when the beta in August happens, I urge you to join me”.

Mortal Kombat 1 is due out on September 19th for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Odyssey Interactive has released a major update for Omega Strikers which adds lots more content, including a new mode, and as part of the content update, a mystery for a new character reveal which was solved by the community in under two hours.

Learning how to best use different characters is seriously compelling, and those progression hooks kept me coming back for more every single day. With a bit of luck and regular updating, this could be the multiplayer success story we’ve needed in 2023”.

The post Helldivers 2 trailer shows off co-op and combat appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Sony has released a new Helldivers 2 trailer that reveals some of the combat and co-op mechanics for the PS5 and PC title. While the original wasn’t third-person, this new trailer really shows the scale of how much bigger Helldivers 2 is, with Arrowhead Games’ creative director Johan Pilestedt referring to it as “a tactical third-person co-op action shooter”.

Stratagems are back from the previous game, which allows you to call in air support of a kind, to change the flow of battle in your favour. It really does look like they’ve taken that superb original title and thrown a bigger budget at it, making it look stunning in the process.

Check out the trailer, below:

Freedom. Peace. Managed Democracy. Your Super Earth-born rights. The key pillars of our civilization. These are under attack from deadly alien civilizations, conspiring to destroy the Super Earth and its values.

You’ll step into the boots of an elite class of soldiers whose mission is to spread peace, liberty, and Managed Democracy using the biggest, baddest, and most explosive tools in the galaxy. Team up with up to four friends and wreak havoc on the alien scourge that threatens the safety of your home, Super Earth.

The Helldivers must take on the role of galactic peacekeepers in this Galactic War and protect their home planet, spread the message of Democracy, and liberate the hostiles by force.

Mikael Eriksson, game director, also appears in the video and explained “if you’re facing off against a heavily armoured foe, you want to bring special armour penetrating weapons, but if you’re blowing up a bug hive, make sure to bring orbital barrages or other highly explosive stratagems”.

The original title was released in March 2015, and we scored it 8.5/10 with Mick saying “Minor gripes aside, Helldivers is an instant multiplayer classic, mixing the teamwork of Destiny with the shooting set-up of Dead Nation and the sci-fi style and humour of Starship Troopers. The cross-platform chat and saving makes it accessible to all PSN gamers, meaning there should be plenty of people playing for a while to come. Happy to be hardcore, Helldivers is a great shooter to play alone or with others.”.

Helldivers 2 is due for release this year on PC and PlayStation 5.

2K Games has revealed the cover star for NBA 2K24, and in their words, it’s the “18-time All-Star, five-time NBA World Champion, two-time Finals MVP, two-time Olympic Gold Medallist and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer” Kobe Bryant.

Bryant will be the cover star for the NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition, as well as the Black Mamba edition. Bryant has an absolutely mammoth list of career highlights and awards from his playing career at LA Lakers (1996-2016), even winning things like the 1996 NBA slam dunk content, twice winning the NBA scoring champion (2006, 2007), and even grabbing the MVP award four times in the all-star games, as well. He has a superb 25 points per game average, and won Olympic gold medals in both Beijing (2008) and London (2012).

Last year’s game featured another legend of the sport in the form of Michael Jordan, which also brought back the Jordan Challenge that was previously last seen in NBA 2K11. It seems the marketing for NBA 2K24 is ramping up, so hopefully we’ll have more exciting news for basketball fans in the coming days and weeks.

NBA 2K23 went down well with most people, but Chris White did feel a bit fatigued by the microtransactions, saying “NBA 2K23 is both an exceptional game and an irritating one. I understand they want players to keep playing and progress through continuous play throughout the year, but VC is just too much of a problem. Grinding is fine, but when the reward for success if too small, it forces you to either spend money to feel any real benefit, or just stick to the modes where VC isn’t a factor. Thankfully, The Jordan Challenge and MyNBA Eras are good enough to make that choice easier. Gameplay is wonderful, and the small tweaks do enough to make it stand tall above last year’s entry in that respect, at least.” in his review.

The post Dredge gets new aberrations and photo mode via update appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The update for Dredge that adds photo mode and new aberrations from the deep, as well as new modes, has been released today.

Black Salt Games and Team17 Digital has confirmed the free update has now hit, and what it includes. Obviously the photo mode will be interesting to many, as the team says that it has “been a regularly requested feature since Dredge launched on 30th March, but like the game, all isn’t as it seems”, adding that before you can use it, you have to fish for a piece of equipment and “exchange it with a new islander, a photographer, for the new device”.

This is all part of the roadmap announced in May, and the new Passive Play Mode is aimed at people who don’t want as much of a challenge as the main game offers, with Team17 saying it allows players to “lean into the game’s laid back fishing gameplay while avoiding the more sinister side of the adventure”.

As mentioned, there are also ten new aberrations to be caught, and there’s even new wildlife events to check out including “a graceful whale shark – the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate – and pods of orca whales. Finally, a new monster from the deep has also been added, sure to ‘terror-ray-se’ even the hardiest of fishing vessels”.

Dredge came out this year (March 30th), and we loved it. In Lyle’s 9/10 scoring review, he said it “is a fishing game that breaks all the rules, and is all the better for it. The combination of relaxing fishing and Lovecraftian horror is a match made in heaven (or maybe hell) and the loop of catching sea creatures and selling them for upgrades is consistently compelling. If you think you can handle the horrors that lie beneath, you’ll find a fantastic game that’s unlike anything else”.

Dredge is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting even bigger this month, as Nintendo is releasing wave 5 of the booster pack on July 12th. The fifth wave will add eight new (old) courses, and three more characters.

Coming to the pack, character wise, is Kamek (from Mario Kart Tour), Petey Piranha (Mario Kart Double Dash!!), and Wiggler (Mario Kart 7). It’s safe to say Petey Piranha is a fan favourite, as it even got an Amiibo a few years back.

Check out the newly released wave 5 booster pack trailer, and the official word on the new courses, below:

Take on the Cherry Cup and get ready for a star-studded sprint around Los Angeles Laps (Mario Kart Tour), sandy surprises through Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart: Super Circuit), watery wonders in Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii) and the cool runnings of Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour). And in the Feather Cup, enjoy two classic courses in Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart: Double-Dash!!) and Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii), a historical tour with Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour) and the brand-new course, Squeaky Clean Sprint. Each course can be played locally or online.

With wave 5, this brings the courses available in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe up to 88, and Nintendo says there are 8 more to come before the end of the year. The Booster Pack is actually free if you have Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, though it can also be purchased separately.

I scored MK8 Deluxe a full 10/10 back when it came out for Switch in April 2017, saying it “is a beautiful game that just works for all ages and abilities, this time it even includes smart steering to aid newer players. When we came time to pick our Game of the Year for 2014, I said I had to read my original review to remind myself why I hadn’t given it full marks. I wrote that “the battle mode is truly lazy”, and thus felt it wasn’t quite deserving of that ten out of ten. Now, three years on, Nintendo has listened, and acted accordingly. I’m a man of my word, folks”.

Pokemon Sleep pre-registrations are now open https://www.godisageek.com/2023/07/pokemon-sleep-pre-registrations-are-now-open/ Thu, 06 Jul 2023 13:31:41 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280345 Catching em while you sleep.

The post Pokemon Sleep pre-registrations are now open appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The Pokemon Company has confirmed that pre-registrations for Pokemon Sleep are now open, meaning you can sign up for the sleep app that the company says turns sleep into entertainment. Pre-registration for Pokemon Sleep is open for Google Play (Android) devices currently and we’ve even got a new trailer to show off how it all works.

The developer says that “Tto play Pokemon Sleep, players place their smartphone device or Pokémon GO Plus + by their pillow and go to sleep. When they wake up, they can check the results of the sleep tracking, study the sleep styles of the Pokémon that have appeared, and work together with Pokémon sleep researcher Professor Neroli to record them in the Sleep Style Dex”. The Pokemon Company says that “the more sleep players get, and the bigger Snorlax becomes, the more Pokémon they can meet, and the more sleep styles they’ll be able to discover. Players can also raise Snorlax during the day”.

In Pokémon Sleep, players will be assigned a “sleep score” based on how long they’ve slept. Players get 100 points when they sleep for at least 8.5 hours. The longer players sleep, the greater Snorlax’s Drowsy Power will become, which in turn determines how many Pokémon gather each time they wake up.

During the day, the player’s helper Pokémon will gather Berries to give to Snorlax, and can activate skills to support them in raising Snorlax. Helper Pokémon can gather Berries even during times of the day when Pokémon Sleep is not being played.

Sleep will categorised in three types: dozing, snoozing, and slumbering. Apparently “Pokemon whose sleeping pattern matches the player’s sleep type will gather around Snorlax. After players have studied the sleep styles of the gathered Pokemon, they can give Pokemon Poké Biscuits. This will make them friendlier, and they’ll become able to join players as helper Pokemon”.

If you connect your Go Plus + device to Pokemon GO and spin PokeStops, your device will keep a record of it, and give them berries when it’s connected to Sleep. You can also share you “sleep research” with friends by adding players to the app. You can share things like “number of sleep styles”, for example.

Pre-register for the app here, via Google Play.

Rebellion has announced the details of the final content pack for Sniper Elite 5, “Kraken Awakes”, which will also include a new versus map called Abandoned Quarry. The developer says that it’s not just going to add a new narrative to play through, but there will be new additions to your arsenal, as well.

There’s an all-American look for Karl with a Patriot weapon skin and American Airborne skin. There’s the Mod.712 pistol, which allows you to detach magazines and has a great automatic fire rate, which Rebellion says is great for close quarters combat.

Check out the new trailer, showcasing the Kraken Awakes content for Sniper Elite 5, below:

Intel gathered in previous missions has revealed that Operation Kraken is still a looming threat that demands your immediate action. Karl Fairburne, the legendary sniper, must utilise the cover of darkness and harness the power of shadows to sabotage an under-construction aircraft carrier, that is the new home of Operation Kraken, and ensure it never sets sail. The fate of the Allies hangs in the balance as you face off against Friedrich Vogel, former deputy to Abelard Möller and the new mastermind behind this diabolical scheme.

Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you navigate an intricately designed military dock and unravel the mysteries hidden within the sprawling aircraft carrier. With an abundance of secrets waiting to be uncovered, take your time to gather valuable intel and gain the upper hand in your mission to save the world from impending doom.

The Kraken Awakes DLC is available now, as part of Season Pass Two (priced £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99), or as a separate purchase for £9.99 / €10.99 / $10.99. The new content adds a new multiplayer map, Abandoned Quarry, which Rebellion says will cause “heart-pounding firefights as you explore the treacherous depths of the old mine”, and adds that you can “seek out vantage points and hidden corners in the nearby coal processing centre, providing ideal sniping sightlines across the map. Whether you prefer the stealthy approach or all-out gunfire and action, the Abandoned Quarry offers an adrenaline-fueled experience for Snipers of all playstyles”.

We covered the Landing Force DLC, which was ace, as Chris White scored it 8/10 saying “It all boils down to whether you enjoyed the main game, and if you want the same high-quality of level design, this is definitely for you”.

Sniper Elite 5 is out now for PC, PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.

The post Hitman developer IO Interactive opening a new studio in Brighton, UK appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

IO Interactive, the developer best known for the Hitman series, has announced it’s opening a studio in Brighton, UK. This announcement means that IO Interactive now has studios in Brighton, Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, and Istanbul, and ties in with the philosophy the team has of working on any project from any studio. In fact, IO says that this means it is “bringing development of Project 007, the first James Bond origin story, to the UK”.

The developer says that “all five IOI studios make significant contributions to the ambitious development and publishing efforts on all games currently in active development: Project 007, Project Fantasy, and HITMAN“, and notes that “IOI Brighton is located in the centre of one of the UK’s cultural and artistic hubs. Known for its beautiful beach and iconic pier, Brighton also pairs great food and shopping with incredible night-life and architecture, making it a stand-out choice for relocation within the UK”.

Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive explained further, saying “We are extremely proud and excited to open our next studio in Brighton, where we see enormous potential to expand our incredible team and attract the very best talent from the exciting UK development scene. We’re eager to expand our operations to new shores and believe that IOI Brighton is an extremely appealing destination for developers of all crafts”.

It’s been fairly quiet on all things IO Interactive recently, with the last major news of note that Hitman 3 was renamed to World of Assassination, back in January. The James Bond title, (codenamed Project 007) was announced way back in 2020, so with a bit of luck we’ll see something on that sometime soon.

The other title in active development we know if is Project Fantasy, an online fantasy RPG. IO Interactive explains this is “a game built from the core to entertain players and expand for many years to come. It feels familiar, yet at the same time IOI is going on a journey unlike any we have been on before”.

Project Fantasy and Project 007 are likely a way off, however, as the team is still hiring for Sound Design (lead sound designer), Game Design (gameplay director), and Programming roles (lead multiplayer programmer) on Fantasy, while 007 is still hiring for gameplay animator, senior character artist, and other roles.

Krafton has announced that the newly renovated Arcade in PUBG: Battlegrounds is available now via the PC test server, which means you can test out the new Bluebomb Rush Mode now, ahead of the final release to live servers for everyone. The update is planned to go live on July 12th for PC players and July 20th on consoles also adds a new reputation system that lets players reward their teammates.

It’ll also have tweaks to Tactical Gear, as per feedback from players, but the big deal is the PUBG Arcade new mode, and makeover. Krafton says that “the newly revamped PUBG Arcade offers several different ways to play, including Team Deathmatch, Intense Battle Royale, and the new Bluebomb Rush mode. This 6v6 match type is a capture/defend showdown, with teams facing off for control of a Blue Zone Generator. Playing Bluebomb or any of the other PUBG Arcade modes allows you to earn all-new Arcade Points that can be used to purchase Arcade-specific rewards”.

Check out the PUBG patch report for 24.2, which shows off the features, below:

In terms of the new reputation system, it’s explained thus: “If you’ve ever seen someone on your squad pull off an incredible play and you wanted to commend them for it, now you can. Our new Reputation System allows players to shower their teammates with recognition for their skills, leadership, or communication on the battle royale field. Players who receive these commendations will gain points towards their reputation level, which grants an assortment of one-time rewards and recurring benefits”.

The Tactical Gear has had tweaks, as we say, and in that respect the blue chip detector has been removed from tactical gear, while EMT gear has had it’s times changed, with them all being decreased by 1-2 seconds. the repair kit has also changed, with usage dropped from 10 times to 6.

The dev explained, saying: “Tactical Gear has received positive feedback since its launch, but we observed instances where players had to sacrifice their primary weapon slots to make room for Tactical Gear, leading to challenges in combat. Balance issues also emerged with certain gear like the Spotter Scope and Tactical Pack. To address these issues, we made several balance adjustments and introduced a renewed Tactical Gear system in Update 24.1. Our intention was to underscore the strategic aspects of the game and offer players more options to personalize their playstyle, enhancing the diversity of gameplay”.

The post Hi-Fi Rush Arcade Challenge update adds two new game modes for free appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Tango Gameworks and Bethesda has released the Arcade Challenge update for Hi-Fi Rush for free, that adds new modes to play through for fans.

The two new modes for Hi-Fi Rush are BPM Rush! and Power Up! Tower Up! and both require you to have played through the main game before you can get into them. In BPM Rush! mode, you go through fights that get tougher and tougher as the songs speed up, there are three difficulties (easy, normal, EX) with each going up to 200 beats per minute.

Power Up! Tower Up! mode is a bit different, and is remixed version of the existing Rhythm Tower mode, only with randomised enemies and challenges. On top of that, Chai (the main character) starts without any of his upgrades. You have to grab his upgrades between rounds to get back up to your best, but upgrades also carry special traits that will change the next fight, sometimes boosting you, and sometimes making it even harder.

There are also two new enemies that are part of the new update, more rewards; including special attacks, costumes, and a “secret final prize for players who clear all 40 challenges tied to the two new modes”.

We loved Hi-Fi Rush when it was shadow dropped back in January this year, with Chris White scoring it a massive 9.5/10 and saying: “We rarely get surprises like this, and when they’re this good, it helps to cement just how important enjoying games is. Too often the world gets caught up on what developers do wrong, or how a fascination with deep and unnecessary critiquing has become the norm. Instead, we should treat games with more respect. Tango Gameworks has put something out that oozes fun and a good time. The combat is excellent, as is its soundtrack, traversal, and visuals. Try to remember how fortunate we are, and then thank Hi-Fi Rush for being around at a time when we need to let loose now more than ever”.

Hi-Fi Rush is out now for PC and Xbox Series S|X.

The post Silent Hope opening anime movie released, coming in October appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Silent Hope, the action RPG due out later this year has had its opening anime movie released for all to see, and it looks pretty great, featuring a viral rock band called Kami Wa Saikoro Wo Furanai, which features Shuusaku Yanagita on vocals, Kiichi Yoshida on guitar, Gaku Kiriki on bass, and Ryousuke Kurokawa on drums.

The anime intro for Silent Hope shows the seven heroes enjoying some chilled out downtime at their base camp, then going out into the world to have at the enemies in the Abyss. Marvelous Europe says that the rock band “complements Silent Hope’s wordless world with an energetic original song, setting players up for the perilous journey that lies ahead”.

Check out the intro movie for the game, below:

In a world without words, what hope is there for humanity? Silent Hope takes place in a once-peaceful land, silenced by the former King who stole people’s speech before escaping into the endless chasm known as The Abyss. Following these events, the Princess, mourning her father’s actions, wept endlessly until her sorrow entombed her in a magical teardrop. Now, years after these events faded from memory, seven heroes find themselves imbued with new powers and drawn towards the Princess; to restore their world, they must brave the depths of The Abyss to find the long-lost King and free the Princess from her crystalline prison.

Silent Hope harkens back to the glory days of isometric dungeon-crawlers while adopting modern features. Players will take the role of seven unlikely heroes, each with their own unique weapon, fighting style, and non-combat job. After spending their days battling through enemies and collecting materials in The Abyss, the heroes return to Base Camp to craft items, improve gear, and rest up for their next adventure. Each journey into The Abyss will be a fresh experience, with randomized layouts ensuring every excursion has the element of chance, with even greater dangers lurking the further the heroes dare to venture.

Shuusaku Yanagita, lead singer of Kami Wa Saikoro Wo Furanai was excited to create the theme song for Silent Hope, saying: “I’ve loved RPGs ever since I was a child. While party games are about competing with others, RPGs are about taking things at your own pace, whether levelling up your party, enjoying the scenery, or diving deeper into the stories of the main cast and even the supporting characters as well”.

Yanagita added: “When I was chosen to write the theme song for Silent Hope, a brand-new action RPG, my eyes lit up just like I was a kid again. The story and themes of this game, set in a world that has lost the ability to communicate through language, feel like an antithesis to today’s social media society. Words are a double-edged sword–a single, simple word can hurt someone deeply, but on the other hand, a single word can also save someone’s life. We hope that the message of Silent Hope and of our song will reach not only audiences in Japan, but around the world!”.

Silent Hope is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch and PC on October 3rd, 2023.

Capcom has revealed that Rashid will be the first DLC character added to Street Fighter 6, and he’s coming to the game on July 24th, adding even more content to the World Tour mode, as well as everything else.

In the Street Fighter 6 story mode (World Tour), once you’ve grabbed the DLC, he’ll now be a mentor for you to learn his moveset from, and apply to your custom avatar, and of course there will be story cut-scenes just like with every other character. In Fighting Ground, Rashid is the 19th playable character, and in Battle Hub there will be Rashid-based gear, emotes, and more through what Capcom is calling this month’s “Rashid Arrives” fighting pass.

Let’s take a look at his trailer, below, and note he first appeared in Street Fighter V:

Here’s the moveset for Rashid, from the press release:

 • Arabian Cyclone: A new special move that performs a spinning kick and conjures up a whirlwind; can be used as a standalone blow, or transitioned into Rolling Assault or Wing Stroke
 • Arabian Skyhigh: A new double jump move that keeps opponents guessing on where Rashid will land from the air
 • Super Rashid Kick: Level 1 Super Art that unloads a devastating kick while soaring forward and up through the air
 • Ysaar: Previously Rashid’s V-Trigger move in Street Fighter™V, this Level 2 Super Art summons a slow-moving whirlwind projectile that can be used to pressure opponents
 • Altair: Rashid’s Level 3 Super Art calls forth a tempest that lifts opponents before he rains down on them with a monsoon of powerful blows

To get Rashid in Street Fighter 6 you’ll need to own the Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Year 1 Character Pass, though you can also try him out with a one hour Rental Fighter ticket that you can get via the in-game Fighting Pass.

Street Fighter 6 is out now for PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5.

Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment has lifted the lid on Snowrunner season 10, which is coming on July 18th to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and is going to be part of the season pass for those who own the Year 3 pass already.

The new season of Snowrunner will add two new maps, two new vehicles, and new things to do in the Canadian region of British Columbia.

Season 10 of Snowrunner, then will “will keep the Canadian journey going, taking Runners to British Columbia for the first time with two new 4km² summer maps”, says the developer, adding that “in a remote landscape of log stations and sawmills, farms and silos, as well as fisheries, players will venture far out into extreme wilderness and take in the sights of awe-inspiring lakes and waterfalls”.

After a destructive storm, Runners will need to deliver generators and parts needed for reconstruction, set up electric poles to reconnect the grid, and fix ferry boats and other crucial infrastructure, such as the weather station.

Vehicle wise, the two new ones are the Mack Defense M917A3 (“a superb, fresh-off-the-line off-road truck that shines with its durability”), and the Kenworth 963, “a massive, behemoth of a truck capable of dealing with anything you throw at it”. The post Top-down shooter Killsquad coming to PlayStation after success on Steam appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Novarama has announced that the top-down shooter that’s been popular with Steam players, Killsquad is coming to PlayStation on July 20th.

Killsquad has hit 350,000 players on Steam (and is currently 60% off, via the Steam Summer Sale), with a “Mostly Positive” rating from nearly 3000 players, and now it seems PS5 (and PS4) players are going to be able to get in on the action, too. It’ll cost $29.99 / 29.99, so isn’t a full-priced release, either.

Check out the official PlayStation gameplay trailer, via the video below:

In Killsquad, play as one of five space-roving bounty hunters as you pursue loot and glory on alien planets teeming with vicious and mythical enemies. Experiment with diverse builds by combining firearms, melee weapons, armor, and unlockable skill trees to take on levels filled with alien fodder and fierce boss battles with friends. It takes quick thinking and quicker hands to survive Killsquad’s bounties.

Here’s some of the features from the game:

 • Top-down combat with a huge number of melee and ranged weapons to experiment with.
 • Online co-op play of up to 4 players, featuring cross-play between PC and PlayStation.
 • Customizable character builds using weapons, gear, and unlockable skill trees. Survive to claim the bounty and show off!
 • Hordes of enemies waiting to greet you and your expendable crew properly.
 • Glory to the victors. Loot to the survivors.

We actually reviewed Killsquad in 2021, where Mick gave it a 7.5/10 score, and said: “Novarama are dedicated to improving and growing the game, adding new content, gear, cosmetics and emotes, as well as characters and zones. That said, after two years of early access, Killsquad is launching in a strong position to build on a solid, playable, and enjoyable foundation”.

Killsquad is out now for PC, and coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 20th.

The post Tears of the Kingdom updated to version 1.2, fixes progression bug appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Nintendo has confirmed that version 1.2.0 of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been released, adding general updates and fixes. Technically released yesterday (on July 4th), you can manually update your copy of Tears of the Kingdom by hitting the “+” button on the home menu game icon and selecting “software update” then “via the internet”.

The list of general updates is a bit peculiar, as Nintendo says that “By starting the game from within certain articles released on a specific Switch News channel (accessed via the HOME Menu) players can receive a number of in-game items”, though adds that “Depending on the state of gameplay progression or the location in which the data is reopened, there may be cases in which the items cannot be received”.

Basically, this means that in the Switch News channel there will be certain stories you can select that will get you some in-game items. Don’t get too excited as this was also made available in Breathe of the Wild and wasn’t too dissimilar to using an Amiibo, whereby you’d get some food and basic items to make use of.

Here’s the list of additional fixes:

 • Fixed an issue where players could not progress beyond a certain point in the main quests “A Mystery in the Depths” and “Secret of the Ring Ruins”, the side adventures “Hateno Village Research Lab” and “Lurelin Village Restoration Project”, the shrine quest “Dyeing to Find It”, and the side quests “Village Attacked by Pirates”, “The Incomplete Stable”, and “Seeking the Pirate Hideout”. Downloading the update will allow players to proceed past that point
 • Fixed an issue preventing fairies from appearing under certain conditions when they originally should have appeared
 • Fixed an issue preventing the meals provided by Kiana of Lurelin Village from changing under certain conditions
 • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is out now for Nintendo Switch.

The post Midnight Ghost Hunt hits a million players, full controller support is coming appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

In a world where multiplayer titles are closing down, Midnight Ghost Hunt is celebrating a milestone for its player count, having now hit a million players, which makes sense since we said it “could be something truly special”, when we first played it back in April 2022.

To celebrate the million players milestone, Coffee Stain has announced a brand new roadmap for the coming months, and it’s going to include full controller support (hopefully the controller support means console versions are coming soon), in-van entertainment (while waiting for matches to start), and other updates and improvements. Midnight Ghost Hunt is also on sale via Steam’s Summer Sale right now, so it’s 66% off until July 13th.

The developer says that “We are planning to improve our overall controller support over the next few months to provide an equally excellent experience for all players, regardless if you are playing on mouse & keyboard or using a controller”, and added the team is “working on sleeker menus, better tooltips, and enhanced visual cues to hopefully provide more clarity and convenience”.

You can see the roadmap, below:

Midnight Ghost Hunt roadmap

Midnight Ghost Hunt is the 4v4 multiplayer prop hunt game where the props fight back. Hunters track down and destroy Ghosts until the clock strikes midnight, when the witching hour begins and the Hunters become the hunted! Midnight Ghost Hunt launched into Steam Early Access in late March last year to universal acclaim, and has progressed since with a series of consistent content updates, as well as a recent successful launch on the Epic Games Store in June.

In our hands-on time, Lyle said “Midnight Ghost Hunt is the first competitive multiplayer game that’s hooked me like this in a long time, and is so incredibly polished for an early access title. Both sides are fun to play as, and the gameplay, loadout options and stages are so creative you’ll never want to stop playing. If they can improve the new player experience a little before they hit 1.0, then they’ll have created something truly special that everybody should try out”.

Midnight Ghost Hunt is out now for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).

The post Persona 3 Reload gets new trailer, showing gameplay and character details appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

Atlus has revealed a new video for Persona 3 Reload that details Akihiko, Mitsuru, and Fuuka in the highly anticipated remake.

The new trailer was revealed at the ATLUS Presents: The Official Persona 3 Reload Panel at Anime Expo, and featured six of the new voice actors from the game, including Heather Gonzalez (Yukari Takeba), Alejandro Saab (Akihiko Sanada), Suzie Yeung (Fuuka Yamagishi), Zeno Robinson (Junpei Iori), Aleks Le (Protagonist), and Allegra Clark (Mitsuru Kirijo).

The remake (or Reload) will have new scenes, character interactions, and additional voiceover, and you can check out the new trailer, below:

Step into the shoes of a transfer student thrust into an unexpected fate when entering the hour “hidden” between one day and the next. Awaken an incredible power and chase the mysteries of the Dark Hour, fight for your friends, and leave a mark on their memories forever.

Persona 3 Reload is a captivating reimagining of the genre-defining RPG, reborn for the modern era.

Persona 3 Portable released earlier this year (January 19th, 2023) and was well received, with the Switch, Xbox Series S, PC, and Steam Deck versions tested by us, and getting a huge 9/10 score from Sean Smith, who said: “Like Persona 4, the localisation is superb, the script sharp as a tack; and one which makes you identify and fall in love with the quirky cast of characters that you interact with, as well as feeling very much in control of your protagonist”.

Interestingly, he also said that “There is talk of Atlus fully remaking Persona 3 using similar aesthetics to Persona 5. There is certainly a lot of potential to expand and tinker with its universe, and the strength of characterisation and story to warrant such a release. Until then, this is more than worthy of your time and comes thoroughly recommended”, and indeed, we’ll see how the remake does when it comes out next year.

Persona 3 Reload launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Steam, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 in early 2024. Persona 3 Reload will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

During ATLUS Presents: The Official Persona 5 Tactica Panel at Anime Expo, the developer revealed a new Persona 5 Tactica trailer that dives into the characters you’ll be spending (presumably a lot of) time with when the game launches later this year on all formats, and into Game Pass.

The new trailer features voice actors from the game such as Leeanna Albanese (Erina), Matthew Mercer (Yusuke), Cherami Leigh (Makoto), and Xanthe Huynh (Haru) and is all about the “background and unique set of skills that characters Joker, Morgana, and Erina (new character) bring to the battlefield against the tyrannical Legionnaires”.

Check out the new trailer, below:

After a strange incident, the Phantom Thieves wander into a bizarre realm where its citizens are living under tyrannical oppression. Surrounded by a military group named Legionnaires, they find themselves in grave danger until a mysterious revolutionary named Erina rescues them and offers an enticing deal in exchange for their help. What truth lies behind Erina and the deal she offers to the Phantom Thieves?

Persona 5 Tactica features an all-new story, the return of fan-favorite characters, and brand-new allies and foes. Join the group as they lead an emotional revolution in this thrilling combat adventure!

Persona 5 has been a major hit with pretty much all the team here that have played it, first on PlayStation, then the Royal version that added even more content, and now the Steam and Switch version. Before this strategy-RPG take on the game, there was Strikers, which was a musou-style game, and even that was pretty good, with Chris White saying: “The music is great, and the visuals are solid, even if they do look exactly the same as Persona 5 did nearly five years ago. This isn’t some cheap cash-in for Persona fans; it’s a great game with a fresh approach to combat and a gripping story”.

Persona 5 Tactica launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on November 17th, 2023. Persona 5 Tactica will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Laced Records has announced that pre-orders are open for the Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope soundtrack on vinyl, and that it’ll be a triple-LP full of music from the “legendary team-up of Yoko Shimomura, Grant Kirkhope & Gareth Coker”.

The Galactic Edition features sky blue, orange, and blurple (!) galaxy-effect discs, and is exclusive to Laced Records, and both versions will set you back £50, regardless of edition. It’s a 52-track soundtrack, and Laced says it has “been specially remastered for the vinyl format and will be pressed onto heavyweight discs”. The vinyl for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will come in “spined inner sleeves, all contained in a widespined slipcase”.

Here’s some of the official word from the press release, and our video review for the game:

Talk about a composer dream team — the credits of Yoko Shimomura, Grant Kirkhope and Gareth Coker speak for themselves. 35-year veteran Shimomura-san has touched many of the most beloved series including Street Fighter, Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and more. Kirkhope has created some of the most recognisable and beloved soundtracks in gaming, including GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie and Viva Piñata. The relative newcomer of the trio, Coker has amassed an enviable credits list, having helmed the Ori and Ark series as well as working on Minecraft and Halo Infinite.

The three talents were tactically deployed across the score by audio director Romain Brillaud, bringing different orchestral and electronic sensibilities to the game. Kirkhope retained his “friendly-epic” sound from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and was assigned the narrative and character elements of the sequel’s soundtrack. Nothing can rouse the troops quite like Shimomura-san’s stirring piano and orchestral style, and she typically wrote Sparks of Hope’s battle cues. Coker helped bring new colours and emotions to specific settings in the game as well as some boss fights, touching on styles including French impressionism to enrich the score. The whole OST is remarkably cohesive, aided by joint orchestral recording sessions that took place in Tokyo, Japan.

Nintendo composer Koji Kondo and his co-composer on Super Mario Galaxy, Mahito Yokota, supervised the soundtrack, and it won “Best Original Video Game Score” at the Ivor Novello Awards 2023.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is out now for Nintendo Switch.

The post Disney Speedstorm leaving early access this September appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Gameloft and Disney has announced that cross-platform combat racer, Disney Speedstorm, is leaving early access on September 28th. Currently the early access programme means you have to pay to play the game, but as of September 28th it’ll become free-to-play, as was always intended, in a similar fashion to Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Given that people now know it’ll be free in a few months, founders packs will still be available for purchase until September 28th, and will start out at $29.99 / €29.99. These packs currently offer exclusive content such as limited-time racing suits, liveries for the karts, and that kind of thing. Game Loft says that there will be “special discounts ranging from 20% to 30%” on all platforms.

Aska Suzuki, Game Manager explained that “Since the launch of Early Access, we’ve received invaluable feedback and support from players, which have been instrumental in shaping Disney Speedstorm into the incredible racing experience it is today. Suzuki added, “Our incredible community’s enthusiasm, dedication, and love for the game have been our inspiration from day one, and we can’t wait to continue this journey together as we enter this exciting new phase”.

“We are immensely proud of what Disney Speedstorm has become”, says Alexandru Adam, VP & Studio Manager, Gameloft Barcelona. “With the additions and improvements made during Early Access, we are excited to move to free-to-play, which allows for a true and robust competitive and co-op player experience”.

Chris White reviewed the early access build, saying: “In its current state, Disney Speedstorm has far too many menus, upgrades, currency, and confusion to warrant reccomendation. Sure, the racing is fun, if too punishing when it doesn’t need to be, but hopefully that will get balanced out the more we get into the Early Access period. It’s also worth mentioning that the soundtrack is pretty fantastic, utilising some of the better Disney songs and giving them a completely new spin, utilising electronic and dubstep genres to try and make the racing more exhilarating”.

Disney Speedstorm is coming to all platforms on September 28th.

Not even a week after lots of new announcements for Farming Simulator 22, Giants Software has confirmed the next content drop for this month.

Coming to PC and consoles on July 25th, Farming Simulator 22 is getting a new map along with 14 machines from German manufacturer, HORSCH. The new map is the HORSCH AgroVation farm located in Kněžmost, Czech Republic, and the developer says that “players look forward to a faithfully recreated environment from the real world. The farm layout with its small to large fields and various storage buildings was digitized for Farming Simulator 22 and equips farmers with a fleet of brand-new HORSCH machines that debut in the game”.

Check out the new trailer, then let’s get into the new machines you can use.

Efficient tillage, seedbed preparation, drilling and more: The HORSCH AgroVation Pack features efficient high-performance machines like the Maestro 24.50 SV precision planter and the Avatar 12.25 D seed drill, the Cura 24 ST weeder, or the Cultro 12 TC mulcher, and Transformer 12 VF hoe.

Here’s the complete list:

 • Avatar 12.25 SD (Seed Drill)
 • Cultro 9 TC (Mulcher)
 • Cultro 12 TC (Mulcher)
 • Cura 24 ST (Weeder)
 • Finer 6 SL (Shallow Cultivator)
 • Joker 8 RT (Disc Harrow)
 • Maestro 9.75 RX (Precision Planter)
 • Maestro 24.50 SV (Precision Planter)
 • Partner 1600 FT (Additional Tank)
 • Pronto 3 DC (Seed Drill)
 • Pronto 6 DC (Seed Drill)
 • Taro 6 SL (Seed Drill)
 • Tiger 8 MT (Cultivator)
 • Transformer 12 VF (Hoe)

During this year’s FarmCon, the premium expansion will be presented, but for now there’s a trailer to have a look at. The premium edition will include the game, obviously, six maps, seven content packs, and two expansions. It’ll also include the co-op and competitive multiplayer, which was recently revealed fully.

The premium expansion is available separately, but comes as part of the premium edition, and adds a new map called Zielonka, which is an environment in Central Europe, which the developer says is “perfect to grow vegetables, as carrots, parsnips & red beet are added to the list of overall 20 crops, alongside new factories, and production chains”.

Farming Simulator 22 is out now for PC, Mac, PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.

On this week’s podcast, both Lyle and Adam have been deep-sea diving, all in aid of finding sushi for their restaurant. No, they’ve not had a career change, instead they’ve both been enjoying the delights of Dave the Diver, a game that had some buzz during early access, but has now been released fully with it’s 1.0 launch.

Keeping with the feeling of being quite small in a bigger universe, Lyle has also been playing Pikmin 1 and 2 HD, while Adam previewed Pikmin 4, and the demo is also available now as well. Chris Hyde, not to be outdone, has gone BIG by playing Final Fantasy 16, so it’ll be interesting to see if his initial impressions of the demo have continued into the full adventure.

PUBG Mobile partnership with Dragon Ball Super coming in July https://www.godisageek.com/2023/06/pubg-mobile-partnership-with-dragon-ball-super-coming-in-july/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 09:17:13 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280026 Super, just Saiyain.

The post PUBG Mobile partnership with Dragon Ball Super coming in July appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

PUBG Mobile has confirmed that the partnership with Dragon Ball Super will be launching with the huge Version 2.7 update in July.

First revealed back in August 2022, it’s actually the first time that Dragon Ball Super has been part of a mobile-only game, and Krafton says it’ll be one of the biggest partnerships in the history of PUBG Mobile. July sees that 2.7 update drop, which the developer says will include an “unprecedented amount of in-game content”, and will add new game modes, as well as a cast of Dragon Ball Super characters, along with limited time sets and items to use.

PUBG Mobile has previously collaborated with other beloved anime properties, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Jujusu Kaisen, and even the recent League of Legends Netflix series, Arcane (series 2 when, Netflix?). However, this Dragon Ball Super collaboration sounds like it’s going to be something even bigger, with the team saying it’s unlike anything the game has previously undertaken, “bringing players closer to this globally beloved world and cast of characters than ever before”.

It’s interesting that the game is partnering with Dragon Ball Super, as it’s the more current show, and is still running to date. As we say, the mobile version is no stranger to collaborations, even adding Bruce Lee not that long ago.

In other PUBG related news, the non-mobile game has recently had a massive overhaul and a tactical gear slot added, while the Nations Cup 2023 teams and host city have also been revealed. The tournament will have a large prize pool of $300,000, which doesn’t yet include additional crowdfunding contributions.

The previous tournament event was in Bangkok, Thailand, last year, where the UK team won the whole thing. The developer/publisher says that “of the Europe and Middle East teams, Team Germany and Türkiye are also returning to the stage after their participation in the two previous editions. This year, Team Denmark is a new addition to the territories participating in the tournament”.

PUBG Mobile is available for free, now.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising online beta coming in July https://www.godisageek.com/2023/06/granblue-fantasy-versus-rising-online-beta-coming-in-july/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 09:04:48 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280021 Fight!

Cygames has announced that you can sign up now for the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising open beta, to play in a tournament at Evo 2023. The registration for the open beta is available right now, and you can find it here.

The Arc System Works fighter, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is coming to PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, and the online beta have also been confirmed, with details below.

August 4th is when the tournament will be taking place, starting at 2pm for the Wave A pools, then at 4pm for Wave B, and 6pm for Wave C. The August 5th events are to be determined, but the registration cutoff for the tournament is August 2nd, 11:59 PDT.

It will be a double Elimination Bracket with 2/3 Rounds per Game, 2/3 Games per Set. There are 3/5 Games for Winners Finals, Losers Semifinals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals (Top 4). Cygames says that “This tournament is only open to players who, from the time of entry and until all prizes have been awarded are 18 years of age and above”.

The Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising online beta for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 platforms will take place over three days, starting with a closed Pre-Access Beta on July 26 (PT), before the Open Beta from July 28 until July 30 (PT). Only players who have registered will have a chance to participate in the Pre-Access Beta—registration opens at 12:00 midnight, July 5-6 (PT). More details regarding the online beta will be announced on the official Granblue Fantasy Versus Twitter account.

Granblue Fantasy Versus was released back in March 2020, and Sean loved it when reviewing it. He scored it 9/10 back then and said: “Producing a tie-in that is stylistically completely at odds with a role-playing game as hugely successful as Granblue Fantasy is a big gamble. Konami and Squaresoft are past offenders – witness the horror of Castlevania Judgement and Ehrgeiz – but boot up Versus and you feel that this bold step will payoff twofold. On one hand, the fan service, interesting storylines, RPG-lite elements and the ability to control beloved characters in a new setting will draw in the core fanbase. There is also definite scope for future DLC, make no mistake. But the real success here is that this feels like the start of a special new fighting franchise for the company, to join their duo of heavy hitters in Guilty Gear and Blazblue. In short, it’s an absolute triumph”.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is coming to PC, PS4, and PS5 in 2023.

Nobody Saves the World plushie announced, Drinkbox titles on sale https://www.godisageek.com/2023/06/nobody-saves-the-world-plushie-announced-drinkbox-titles-on-sale/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 08:51:48 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280017 Everyone wants that nobody.

The post Nobody Saves the World plushie announced, Drinkbox titles on sale appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Drinkbox Studios has announced a physical edition of Nobody Saves the World, along with a new plushie, other merch, and frankly, a lot more.

Teaming up with Limited Run Games (for a limited time only), the Nintendo Switch and PS4/PlayStation 5 physical editions of Nobody Saves the World are available to pre-order now via this link. There is a deluxe edition for each platform that will come with the game (obviously), but also a sticker sheet, soundtrack (on a real physical CD no less!), a Randy pin, and a collector’s case.

Elsewhere, Drinkbox has teamed up with Makeship to make a Nobody plushie (seen below), which even has a detachable wand. Again, this is a limited offer, and you can grab it from this link.

Nobody Saves the World plushie

On top of that, there are new t-shirts (featuring Nobody along with some of the team’s favourite forms), a Nobody enamel pin, and a sticker sheet. If you’re still playing Nobody Saves the World, by the way, make sure you check out our complete guide so you don’t miss out on anything.

Even the DLC is worth playing, as per Chris Hyde’s review, where he scored it 8/10 and said: “Players who tailored their characters not only had more fun but were able to take on some of the game’s harder challenges too. Frozen Hearth feels like a well-considered extension of this ethos, with challenges specifically designed to get you considering loadouts to best suit a particular situation. The new forms offer something new to play around with and integrate well with existing forms. And whilst the challenge of the Colloseum is varied and commands your attention, it is over rather quickly, leaving you wanting a little more”.

Drinkbox Studios has also announced that all of its titles are 75% off for the Steam Summer Sale, and there’s a bundle where you can get all the studio’s games, soundtracks, and DLC content for an extra 10% off when you get them together. There’s also two new t-shirts featuring Guacamelee heroes and villains, a Pollo enamel pin (with spinning legs), and a standee featuring Juan vs the Guacamelee villains. For those wondering, the bundle link is here, and is frankly a ridiculous value for money proposition.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/master-detective-archives-rain-code-review/ Thu, 29 Jun 2023 23:00:26 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=279843 It pours.

The post Master Detective Archives: Rain Code review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Knowing the pedigree behind Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, it’s no surprise to say that it’s chock-full of unique ideas, dark storylines, and humour that you either are there for, or aren’t. The Danganronpa series is beloved for a reason, but Rain Code rarely hits the highs of its spiritual forebear, for a variety of reasons. It’s by no means a bad game, but it’s also hugely complicated and uneven.

Playing as Yuma, you are an amnesiac would-be detective in the World Detective Organisation (or WDO). You’ve made a pact with a Death God called Shinigami, who appears as a Luigi’s Mansion-like purple ghost in the real world. You can’t remember anything before your deal, but Shinigami has given you the power of coalescence, meaning in a world where the WDO members have unique individual abilities, you can share them. Oh and you can also enter a Mystery Labyrinth dungeon which helps you solve each case, whereby Shinigami turns into a female who constantly makes sexual references, and even refers to her own jiggle physics. Yeah, this is that kind of game.

Rain Code review

Rain Code plays out across multiple segments during each chapter. First of all there will be some exposition and time spent with your fellow WDO agents, then you’ll end up embroiled in an investigation to solve a mystery. This takes place in an open world of sorts, in a place called Kanai Ward. Here there is no traditional enforcement, and instead the megacorporation runs rule with an iron fist. There are slums, posh areas, and it’s all as you’d expect. The Amaterasu corporation opposes the WDO and is trying everything to stop the mystery of Kanai Ward being solved, one case at a time.

Exploring the case will eventually lead to you entering the Mystery Labyrinth, and it’s here the game turns into more of an adventure. There are mini-games galore, including the often fun Reasoning Deathmatch. During this event, the person trying to hide the truth will fire accusations and rebuttals back at you, and you have to find the right solution key (gained through your prior investigation sections) to fire back at them. They will shoot red herrings at you, and it’s your job to get the right key for the right enquiry, over multiple stages, eventually forcing an enquiry.

Rain Code review

During the dungeon you have a stamina bar that can be depleted if you get things wrong, though it’s worth noting it’s easily upgradable and you won’t get enough wrong to really trouble yourself until the later stages. The RPG elements come into play as everything you investigate count towards your overall level, with each acquired one giving you a point to put into a skill tree that can upgrade your stamina, or alter the mini-games.

The trouble is, some of the upgrades seem like they do the opposite of what you’d want. There’s a mini-game where you have to shoot swords into letters on a barrel to solve a missing word and unveil a bikini-clad Shinigami, and you can slow the turning barrel down, which makes it harder to solve quickly. You can remove some of the red herrings from the Deathmatch scenes, but there are still enough that you don’t always know exactly what question it is the game wants you to solve.

Rain Code review

And therein lies one of the major issues at the heart of Rain Code: logic. You are at the behest of the minds behind the title, in that you might come up with the solution, or guess the culprit early on, but it won’t be for another five hours that you are allowed to solve it, and only in the way the developer intended. The narrative might go to great pains to explain (as it does during an early chapter) that a vent is only big enough to get a finger in, then later on explain a case by saying a nail was hammered on through that very vent. It’s fine to suspend your disbelief for an otherworldly adventure like this, but it’s important that the person weaving the narrative follows the logic that they themselves put down.

But that isn’t the biggest issue the game has. The pacing is some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a modern title. After spending 3-5 hours adventuring, exploring, deducing, and going through the labyrinth, you have to complete a “Deduction Denouement”. Here, you’re presented with a book that has gaps in it, and it’s the final mini-game in each chapter. You’ve already solved the case (as that’s what the entire labyrinth is for), but now you have to piece it together again, to complete proceedings.

Rain Code review

As if that weren’t enough of a waste of your time, after doing so Rain Code will show you a lengthy cut-scene that wraps up the entire chapter again, which actually feels insulting. Having solved the case not once, but twice (and assuming you didn’t guess the culprit earlier) you have to sit through a scene showing you what you just deduced, again. I kid you not, after spending nearly five hours in a chapter, the scene I got was seven minutes long. It wasn’t alright in Danganronpa V3, and it isn’t alright here, and I just can’t help but feel like a heavy edit would have made this all a better game.

There is merit in Rain Code, however. It’s unique and interesting, offering a dark world to explore and some strange humour that, while on the nose, does tickle the funny bones. Almost everyone has a name like it’s from The Mighty Boosh; we’re talking Viva Twilight, Pucci Lavmin, Zilch Alexander, Halara Nightmare, and more. It’s really well voiced throughout, as well, and Kanai Ward is one of the stars of the show. The neon lit location is always raining, and it has a beauty to it that really does stand out. The camera is pulled in close to Yuma, creating a claustrophobic city that feels alive.

Rain Code review

Neither a visual novel nor a full-on dungeon crawling role playing game, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code struggles to find a rhythm, with some of the worst pacing issues I’ve seen in a game. Requiring you to sit for sessions upwards of four to five hours is asking too much, but not doing so means you are going to forget key minutia of a case you’re investigating, and it all adds up to feel like it doesn’t respect your time in any way.

Were this a visual novel, I’d have no issue recommending it, but the expansion into dungeons, investigations, and more, hurts the game due to how long everything takes. It may feel like I’m labouring the point, but I cannot stress how much time every single part of the gamer takes to get through. While it has a vast amount of ideas that work individually, Rain Code rather feels like a missed opportunity that doesn’t quite come together right.

As one person projects go, Michel Ziegler’s Mundaun is pretty ambitious. Having released in March 2021 for PC via Steam, the game is relaunching with Annapurna Interactive as publisher, and coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Hidden Fields is the developer, but Michel Ziegler is the one-man studio, and is a massive labour of love, having taken six years to hand draw every element of the game, from the characters to the textures you see when exploring the environment. Ziegler says that “Mundaun takes a unique approach to horror by immersing players into a world set in the beautiful and serene region of the Swiss Alps, but offering a darker version inspired by mythical folklore where reality and myth intertwine. In the beautiful worlds, players are on a journey to explore various areas that are full of secrets to discover, mysteries to solve through a variety of hand-crafted puzzles and more”.

Here’s the synopsis of the game, as well as a trailer to whet your whistle for the relaunch.

After learning of his grandfathers mysterious death in a fire, the protagonist travels to Mundaun for the first time since childhood. He will soon discover that something old and diabolical is haunting the remaining inhabitants. The quest to find out the meaning behind these sinister events takes the player on an odyssey up Mundaun mountain: From steep meadows across stony fields and to the snow-covered peak.

Mundaun is a lovingly hand-pencilled horror tale set in a dark, secluded valley of the alps. Explore various areas full of secrets to discover, survive hostile encounters, drive vehicles, fill your inventory and solve a variety of hand-crafted puzzles.

The relaunch of the game will allow it to feature “next-gen” graphical improvements, and patch updates that “provide clearer presentations of the game’s unique hand-penciled style at a higher frame rate”.

Mundaun is out today for Nintendo Switch.
