The post Doom & Destiny Worlds review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Doom & Destiny Worlds feels like an amalgamation of ideas and styles from a multitude of titles like Minecraft, Zelda, and Stardew Valley. It’s a surprisingly deep explorative game with tons of crafting and adventuring to be had, and while the grinding can become frustrating, there’s plenty to do. It’s also a charming game about friendship, venturing into the realms of fantasy thanks to the four nerds’ love of all things tabletop. It might feel repetitive at times, at least as far as the combat goes, but there’s plenty of environments to explore and engage with.

While sat having a chilled out session of Dungeons & Dragons (or one of many available pen and paper games), the four main characters are teleported into a strange world. Waking up naked and alone, without a single tool or weapon at your disposal, you must find your friends and work out what the hell is going on. It doesn’t take long until your first job is to save a friend from the top of a tower, and the opening section provides you with the knowledge needed to play, thanks to a decent tutorial. After bumping into the physical embodiment of Destiny, you learn about three tyrants who must be defeated in order to return home.

There’s no audible dialogue, instead opting for conversational bubbles and the odd quip in text. The writing is fun and fundamental, and acts as a nice gap between the times you are out trying to gather enough resources for crafting. This is where Doom & Destiny Worlds feels laborious at times, as you’ll do a lot of grinding by breaking rocks, chopping trees down, and gathering materials for what you need. Certain elements of crafting and farming aren’t as well explained as they could be, and gathering so many blueprints can lead you feeling lost, especially in the early stages.

There’s a lot to get your head around, and with a messy inventory, it’s easy to get lost in there. Much of the learning is done on your own, and it would have been nice to have a little more guidance in how to craft items, or a clearer UI for how to build things. You can craft a whole manner of things from armour, weapons, and building blocks to traverse across the islands, and when you do begin to grasp these mechanics, Doom & Destiny Worlds can be fun. There’s just a lot to take in and a lot to manage, and with four characters all needing to be equipped with tools and such, it’s easy to forget where you are.

One thing I did like was how streamlined the combat is. While it can become repetitive, it’s easy to get to grips with. Each enemy has a health bar and an energy bar. The energy bar provides the ability to use certain skills, and while you and your foe has it, it needs to be broken down until the health can be depleted. Once the energy is removed, the health is the only thing keeping their hearts beating. it also acts as an extra level of defence against enemies, feeling just as much of a shield as a way to dish out certain spells and attacks.

Doom & Destiny is gorgeous. The pixel art allows the developers to get creative with the sheer amount of islands available, and I’m a sucker for this kind of art style. Heartbit Interactive has made a charming adventure, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. The music was wonderful as well, and provided the perfect soundtrack to my journey to find the tyrants and go home. It’s humour is great, and the relationship between the friends is relatable. As a DnD player myself, I appreciated how the nuances of the game were implemented into certain aspects of it.

It may become quite the chore to grind for resources or to craft a particular item, Doom & Destiny does reward you for your dedication. The art style and music is wonderful, and the world is vast and ripe for exploration. Combat is straightforward and often fun, although it can become repetitive when enemies keep rushing towards you. It won’t be for everyone, but the charming characters and opportunities to craft some cool equipment is present throughout.

Victrix Pro BFG Controller review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/victrix-pro-bfg-controller-review/ Mon, 24 Jul 2023 09:03:51 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=281029 For the players

The post Victrix Pro BFG Controller review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The Victrix Pro BFG Controller for PlayStation 5 is the first officially licensed third-party controller for the console, and it’s also one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of using. It comes with extra buttons on the back of the controller that can be mapped to any of the inputs, removeable modules for specific genres and layouts like fighting games, adjustable pressure points for the triggers, and more. These features go a long way to customise exactly how you play across a multitude of titles, and it has a reliable battery life to boot.

One of the controllers coolest features is the ability to unscrew the sticks and buttons on the front to replace for a module that has the R1 and R2 buttons next to the X, Square, Triangle, and Circle buttons. For fighting fans, playing Street Fighter 6 with these in play makes a world of difference, allowing for much smoother and speedier combos to be inputted. There’s no lag whatsoever, and make for a fantastic gameplay experience when in a fight.

Victrix Pro BFG Controller review

Other spare parts that can be added are an alternative D-pad, and a taller analogue stick perfect for precision during FPS titles like Call of Duty, when you need a tighter aim. All of these changes can be done quickly thanks to the mini tool included. Whatever you need, and whatever style you prefer when playing, the Victrix Pro BFG Controller has you covered. While it feels a little light in your hands, it’s in no way a flimsy controller, and does everything you need in any given situation.

There’re so many customisation options that you can take advantage of, whether a casual gamer or someone that thrives in the esports scene. The Tournament Lock option gives players confidence that any buttons accidentally pressed like the options button won’t hit. I’m not one such player, but it’s a fantastic addition for those who are. There are also sliders in place that can fix the position of where the triggers are pressed, allowing the amount of pressure needed to press them has a wide range for players.

On the back of the controller, there are four customisable buttons that can be mapped to any standard inputs for an added layer of customisation, however, I didn’t tend to use them as I would press them accidentally at times. The grip on the handles feels good, and provides no-slip performance, and the general feel of it is great. It works well across PC and PlayStation 5, and for those who use a PlayStation 4, the Victrix Pro BFG works for them as well.

Victrix Pro BFG Controller review

It has the ability to play wireless as long as you insert the dongle into the console, and there’s a 3-metre long cable if you need to play wired. There’s no vibration or haptic feedback functionality, but it wasn’t an issue for me as I feel that’s still something developers are trying to get right, finding the balance between essential inclusion in a title and a novelty. It’s the customisation where it holds its own, and I’m more than impressed by what it offers.

The Victrix Pro BFG Controller is a fine addition to PlayStation, and has so many customisation options for a wide range of players and playstyles. The way it works with fighting titles is next level, and I never had any glitches or functionality issues. While the lack of vibration might put off casual gamers or PS5 fans, it’s all about how it feels to use, ergonomically designed to suit everyone, and the ease of use and set up make it one of the best third-party controllers on the market.

Skybound Entertainment has today announced a brand new third person action game called The Walking Dead: Betrayal. Set in the world created by Robert Kirkman through his excellent comic book series and further flourishing as a television show staring Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln, the new game is describes as a game of “cooperation and deception for up to eight players.”

Out of resources, with a horde of walkers on their heels, players must work together to complete objectives and escape in The Walking Dead: Betrayal. They’ll need to work fast, as walkers aren’t the only threat they will have to face in rural Canada. While these survivors struggle to escape, incognito ‘traitors’ lurk among them, plotting to do everything in their power to delay repairs, and prevent anyone from leaving. As evidence of their sabotage becomes apparent, paranoia and accusations threaten to tear the survivors apart as they desperately work towards escaping.

It’s being developed for PC by Other Ocean Interactive, the team behind Project Winter. Players can now join The Walking Dead: Betrayal Discord channel to sign up for updates, and get a chance to participate in the planned Closed Beta starting on August 10.

“We’re tremendously excited to unveil this latest The Walking Dead experience that fully immerses players with a fresh and unique take on social deception gameplay,” said Robert Kirkman, Chief Creative Director of Skybound Entertainment and creator of The Walking Dead. “Partnering with Other Ocean Interactive, true innovators in this game genre, will allow players to experience hordes of deceit and distrust as they struggle to work together to survive and escape.”

“Pairing our deep experience and love for social deception gameplay with the incredible The Walking Dead universe is truly a match made in heaven,” said Andrew Ayre, CEO of Other Ocean Interactive. “It’s an honor for our team to collaborate with Skybound and we can’t wait to reveal more in the coming months, and for fans to experience it starting with our upcoming beta.”

Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games have today revealed the newest survivor coming to Risk of Rain Returns, Drifter, via Dev Thoughts 31.

Drifter is a resourceful brawler who got more than she bargained for when she stowed away on the ill-fated Contact Light – luckily she has some unique skills to not only handle the dangerous inhabitants of Petrichor V but she also has some powerful tools to empower herself and her fellow Survivors. Drifter generates Scrap by attacking enemies, once collected this Scrap can be converted into temporary items for the rest of her team.

In the Risk of Rain Returns Dev Thoughts 31 blog, plenty of details regarding Drifter help to give players an idea of what to expect, including her abilities Blunt Force, Cleanup, Suffocate, and Salvage.

Blunt Force is a 3 hit combo melee attack that hits enemies in a wide area – each successful hit generates lumps of Scrap which litter the floor near Drifter – gather these quickly to fuel your more powerful abilities.

Cleanup tosses out some of your Scrap as piercing projectiles in a short-range burst – imagine a trash powered shotgun that makes mincemeat of even the toughest enemies.

Suffocate fills your meter without having to collect Scrap from the environment – This large melee strike stuns and does 200% damage – any enemy below 20% health when attacked with Suffocate.

Salvage allows Drifter to generate 4 temporary items – these can then be collected by any player making her the survivor with the strongest support abilities in Risk of Rain. Have your teammates not been as fortunate as you when rolling the dice at chance shrines? Create some temporary items to share among your team before facing the tough challenges that await you.

2K has today announced that the fourth WWE 2K23 DLC pack ‘Revel with Wyatt’ is available now, featuring Superstars Bray Wyatt, Uncle Howdy, and more. It’s something fans have been clamouring for for some time, as Bray is one of the most charismatic and creative minds the company has ever seen, however, he’s been off TV for some time now.

Despite his absence, he’s still one of the most popular Superstars within the company, and the surprise inclusion of the elusive watcher Uncle Howdy is going to make fans even happier, despite him never having an actual match in WWE. Other Superstars added to the game include Zeus, the monster from the late 80s who had a great rivalry with Hulk Hogan, and featured in the bad but good movie ‘No Holds Barred. Valhalla aka Sarah Logan, who accompanies the Viking Raiders to the ring, is also playable; Joe Gacy, leader of the cult-like faction The Schism; and NXT’s Blair Davenport.

Along with these new Superstars, their moves and taunts are also now in WWE 2K23, which can now be used for custom Superstars, meaning there’s a great opportunity to build the Bray Wyatt faction that could have formed from the ashes of the Firefly Funhouse. Also, MyFACTION cards featuring the new playable Superstars will be available within the DLC.

To coincide with the release of the WWE 2K23 Revel with Wyatt DLC, a new ‘Summer Heat’ card collection has arrived in MyFACTION, including Amethyst tier Batista, Stacy Keibler, Chyna, Ultimate Warrior, and more. Starting July 28, the Neon Horizons card collection goes live, featuring Diamond tier The Prototype, Leviathan and Chad Gable, plus Amethyst tier Alba Fyre, Bruno Sammartino, Grayson Waller, Roxanne Perez, and Scott Steiner, and many more. Finally, on August 4, the SummerSlam card collection will launch featuring Diamond tier Roman Reigns, Asuka, Scott Hall, Bianca Belair, and Jake Roberts, plus many more.

New Star Games has today announced its new retro-styled racing game New Star GP will be heading to Early Access via Steam on August 8. Not only that, but the team behind New Star Soccer, Retro Goal, and Retro Bowl will also be bringing their racer to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One later in the year.

New Star GP is a fast and exciting arcade motorsport game with stunning retro visuals. Play Career Mode starting in the 80’s and work your way through decades of racing while upgrading your car and your support team, or chase high scores in Championship Mode on your own or in split-screen with up to three friends. The initial Early Access version has races set in both the 80’s and the 90’s, containing 56 individual race events, taking in iconic racing venues like Brisbane, Quebec and Côte D’Azur. As Early Access moves toward a full release, there are plans to evolve the Career Mode to include future decades of racing along with new cars, locations, tracks and rivals.

New Star GP is by far the most ambitious title the team has worked on, with plenty of modes like the Championship, which has a variety of different championships to play in both single player and multiplayer (up to three friends). New Star Games will add more content throughout the Early Access period, and by listening and working with the community, it has plenty of potential to be another smash hit.

League of Legends is getting a brand new summer event called Soul Fighter, as the full patch notes for the 13.14 update have become available. As part of the event, players will also get a new game mode called Arena, a new in-client metagame called Tournament of Souls, and a whole roster of fighters wearing the new Soul Fighter skinline.

The 13.14 patch will also mark the beginning of Ranked Split 2. It also intends to raise top lane carry potential, lower early jungle gank power, and nudge down bot lane mobility. There’s also going to be some quality of life adjustments to Zyra, Xerath, and Lissandra, some assassin tuning, and changes to balancing regarding ARAM.

Arena

It’s here! The new 2v2v2v2 game mode is launching this patch and we’re excited for all of you to try it out! In the new Arena game mode, four teams of two players each fight one another in rotating combat rounds. After each round of combat, they will power up with unique Augments until only one team is left standing. Combat takes place on four different battlefields which vary in size, terrain density, and theme. Champions from the Soul Fighter universe will make occasional cameo appearances in matches. Sometimes they’ll help, sometimes not so much.

Tournament of Souls

Tournament of Souls is a style-rating-focused combo-battler that takes place in the client. As Samira, you will gain Reputation by playing games of League, which in turn allows you to face new opponents and unlock new abilities for Samira to progress further in the tournament. The objective of the tournament is to become the champion by defeating all ten opponents. You can claim rewards after each victory and take on new challenges after unlocking the Story and Expert difficulty levels.

The post Astrometica, a new space survival game, announced by RockGame appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

RockGame has today announced it is working with solo developer BeryMery to publish a new space survival game called Astrometica. The new title promises to take players on a journey through the cosmos “unlike anything seen before” by taking the gameplay seen in Subnautica and Planet Crafter, and including resource gathering, crafting, and base-building.

Immerse yourself in the vastness of space, the final frontier, where danger and intrigue lie in wait. Astrometica is an adrenaline-pumping space survival game that plunges you into the harshest environments imaginable, testing your ability to adapt, strategize, and persevere.

With a series of integrated systems – including an innovative battery system, an intuitive vehicle system, a robust crafting mechanism, and an exploratory research system – Astrometica ensures an enriching and immersive gameplay experience that goes beyond just survival.

The unknown will be your playground and your battlefield.

The key features for Astrometica include:

Resource Collection: In Astrometica, survival hinges on your ability to gather vital resources such as iron, copper, and ice from the vast expanse of space. Iron and copper are invaluable for crafting, and ice, when refined, becomes life-sustaining water. Beyond these, other materials lie hidden in asteroids and distant stars, waiting to be discovered. The art of strategic resource collection will test your adaptability and resourcefulness in this challenging environment.

Crafting and Tools: Crafting lies at the heart of survival in Astrometica. Using collected resources like iron and copper, you’ll be tasked with creating a range of tools and items critical to your existence and progression. From simple hand tools to advanced machinery, your crafting skill will directly impact your capacity to endure and thrive. The better your tools, the better your chances of survival.

Base Building: In Astrometica, you’ll need to establish your own space base, equipped with habitats, airlocks, observation centers, and essential machinery. This will be your sanctuary and command center, offering safety and strategic advantage in the infinite expanse of space. Your base’s design and advancement will largely depend on your resource management and crafting abilities. Navigating these complexities to construct a thriving base showcases your strategic skills in this rigorous survival adventure.

Signal Following: In the cold void of the cosmos, signals are your compass. Decrypt them, follow them, and unveil secrets and rewards that may aid in your survival. But be cautious, as not every signal may lead to safety.

Space ships: Speed across galaxies with an array of space vehicles. Be it a swift scout ship or a sturdy mining vessel, mastering space navigation and vehicle management will be critical to your survival and exploration.

Unravelling Mysteries: The mystery of a station’s destruction lies at the heart of your journey. With every clue you uncover, you’ll get one step closer to understanding what happened – and what your place is within this grand cosmic puzzle.

Titled ‘Fix & Connect, it includes two new maps, two new vehicles, and new activities across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The SnowRunner Season 10 update adds two new summer maps set in British Colombia.

In a remote landscape of log stations and sawmills, farms and silos, as well as fisheries, players will venture far out into extreme wilderness and take in the sights of awe-inspiring lakes and waterfalls. After a destructive storm, Runners will need to deliver generators and parts needed for reconstruction, set up electric poles to reconnect the grid, and fix ferry boats and other crucial infrastructure, such as the weather station.

Players will also get the Mack Defense M917A3 and the Kenworth 963. We were a big fan of its maps when the game released in 2020 and said, “Normally, I tend to frown when a game offers overly large maps, but here, I just wondered how I could get to the next Watchtower or which route would be best for my next delivery. Whether you’re carefully driving a big rig to a warehouse on the other side of the map, or taking on vertical challenges in a Scout, it’s just a joy to explore SnowRunner’s expansive environments.”

The post Viewfinder review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Rarely does a game come along as smart as Viewfinder. Throughout the short yet fascinating playthrough, I used various images to transcend through a dreamlike world, where reality is constantly shifting through diversely artistic environments. It’s fundamental in its gameplay, yet you’re constantly challenged through well-thought out levels across mind-bending puzzles that feels as though you’re in some part-Escher, part-The Matrix existence. It’s been some time since I’ve been this impressed with a single player puzzler, and that’s thanks mainly to the ingenuity carefully poured into each challenge you face.

Viewfinder sees you transport between levels in a variety of ways. Sometimes you might need to locate a couple of batteries to power up a portal; use sound to initiate a path of electrical current; or stand on platforms to charge the gateway to another world. Much of the early stages see you finding photographs or paintings to then place in the environment, allowing you to pass into them and use whatever might be present in them, such as walls and ceilings as bridges to the end portal. These early levels aren’t particularly challenging, but they give you an idea about how the fundamental mechanics work.

Once you get to grips with how Viewfinder works, it decides to step things up and provide you with a camera that you can take your own pictures of the world with and then utilise them to find the right path to your goal. You might need more than one battery to power a panel, but by taking a photo of a battery or using a nearby photocopier, you’ll gain access to a second one, thus allowing you to complete the puzzle. Things get even wilder when parts of the environment disappear after taking a photo, or the negatives you gather start to play with the environment.

It starts to get more complex as you play, with some levels pushing your own creativity of what is possible. There are often multiple ways to solve something, and that was something I loved about Viewfinder. Much like it celebrates art in multiple forms, it also wants you to experiment and find your own way through the game. When it combines different styles of artwork by allowing you to travel through watercolour paintings, sketches complete with crosshatching, children’s drawings, and even cartoons, it becomes so fascinating you’ll often wonder how it was possible. It feeds on creativity, both in the designs of its puzzles and the ever-changing aesthetics of its world.

I never felt overwhelmed by the challenge, giving off similar vibes to Portal in how it layers new mechanics, however, the final puzzle, without giving anything away, requires both speed and creativity, forcing you to make use of everything you’ve learned up until that point. It’s the toughest part of Viewfinder, but it’s not without success if you have remembered everything up until that point. Scattered throughout the levels are telephones where someone called Jessie is communicating with you, offering some background to the narrative.

You’ll also meet a digital cat called Cait, who feeds you with little bits of the story until you realise what is going on, and there’re also gramophones that offer sound files from various characters who play a role in its tale. Viewfinder also has collectables scattered across the levels, and there are even optional puzzles that don’t need to be completed to progress from one hub to the next, but they add to the length of your playthrough. Once you’ve solved all the necessary puzzles, you’ll hop in a cable car and head to the next hub. It gives you a nice pacing between the worlds, and a brief respite before putting your brain to the test once again.

I was impressed with Viewfinder, especially with how it blends a variety of art with its puzzles. You’re constantly tested with new mechanics and ideas, yet it never throws too much at you. It looks incredible, and there’re also a few secrets and moments of warm silliness that further add to the charm of its gameplay. You will be challenged, especially towards the end, but it’s well worth playing if you want something that dares to push the boundaries of what’s possible within the single player puzzle genre. The story might be a bit hard to follow, but the world is filled with wonder.

]]>

With increased political tensions across the globe, and a Cold War that never ended, the last thing anyone needs is an alien invasion. Thus is the backdrop for Xenonauts 2, a turn-based strategy that feels more like XCOM than any other game I’ve seen within the genre. While still in Early Access, there’s a deep tactical edge that allows you to get lost in the war you found yourself in, and despite it being unforgiving at times, you’re more than equipped with military options in your fight against both the aliens and a human threat known as the Cleaners.

You manage a secret multinational military organisation known as the Xenonauts tasked with ridding the world of a new alien threat. Despite the combat being filled with options, you’re given a deep tutorial that helps you to become familiar with the nuances of war. Spending your time between upgrading and improving the Xenonauts back at base, you’ll also be tasked with various objectives that often result in all-out warfare. It is in these battles that it becomes a tense and fulfilling experience where anything can happen, and one wrong decision can have dire circumstances.

You control your soldiers from an isometric viewpoint, where the map can be rotated and zoomed in and out of, offering different angles for you to see what is going on at any given time. Each soldier has a particular skillset, complete with a variety of weapons from snipers to shotguns. At first, the map is shadowed out in places, forcing you to explore the unknown and walk a fine line of risk and reward. You could see an abandoned house in front of you that seems empty, but as you approach, an alien can come out of nowhere and shoot you dead.

It’s imperative to make use of cover, plan every action with precision, and use your action points to move cautiously. Each soldier has a set amount each turn, and if you use all your action points to move, you won’t be able to fire a weapon, launch a grenade, or use something else in your arsenal. Everything costs AP including crouching, so you’re also forced to think about cover from fellow soldiers when exploring a seemingly quiet location. If your assault rifle can’t be used due to a lack of AP, a pistol can be fired, but they’re not going to do as much damage.

When you do engage in combat, you can see the route of an attack and how effective it will be before you action it. The environment is destructible, and sometimes it’s necessary to blow up barricades in order to get the shot on. Enemies are lurking everywhere, and you can be cut down at any point, making each turn as stressful as possible. It’s exhilarating as it is frustrating, but the more you research back at base and upgrade or unlock new equipment and skills, your next fight will be a little more bearable.

Through autopsies and recovery of alien technology, you’ll be able to use their own minds against them. It makes battle more complex and consuming, as hours pass and you realise just how much of a hold this game has on you. I failed a lot. I lost soldiers through death and panic, feeling as though I was losing the war. Yet despite these failures, I began to get better – began to understand what I was up against – and the gameplay loop started to feed my success.

There’s a lot to familiarise yourself with, but by playing through and reading the text that’s available, you begin to improve your base and it air force, leading to an empire of strongholds across the globe. Outside of missions (which are varied in what you do), you’ll have to take out UFOs in air combat, although these play out automatically, taking into account how strong your aerial assault is. It’s the boots on the ground elements of Xenonauts 2 which is where the most enjoyment to be had is, as that’s where you feel your tactical prowess is allowed to flourish.

Graphically, it’s relatively basic. There’re no bombastic cinematics or animations, yet the crispness of gameplay is enough to keep you enthralled in the visuals. Being Early Access, not all the text is completed, which is something that will grow as the developers add more content. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means, and if anything, it means the plans going forward for Xenonauts 2 is at the forefront of Goldhawk Interactive’s mind. What is here currently is more than enough to give fans of turn-based titles plenty to do.

Xenonauts 2 is a rich strategy game that gives you plenty of options in combat. The missions where you are in charge of your soldiers are consistently evolving, forcing you to think on the fly and change your tactics with every turn. Whether you have to kill al enemies, find vital intelligence, or face the Cleaners, these fights are tough yet satisfying, and I enjoyed just how much there was to do in the heat of battle. It’ a shame that most of the maps feel familiar, but if you like the variety of its gameplay, it’s not going to pose too much of a problem.

]]>

Dotemu and Tribute Games have today revealed an all-new survival mode coming to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. It comes as part of the Dimension Shellshock DLC and will be hitting PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later in the year.

The Survival Mode will introduce collectable crystals that allow players to jump between dimensions, with each one featuring its own look and feel. Some of the dimensions include a Japanese-inspired Edo dimension, and 8-bit backgrounds featuring the four turtles. Players can level up and grow stronger through runs across these dimensions, and when they die and have collected enough crystals, new lives, ninja power bars, Radical Mode, and extra hit points can be unlocked.

We reviewed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge when it released and said, “Shredder’s Revenge isn’t an overlong experience – but it is also generous in terms of content, challenge and replayability. The only real criticism I can level at it, would be that I would have liked the inter-stage cutscenes and introductions to have been fully voiced. Why employ the guys that voiced our childhood, and then miss a trick with that? But that is small potatoes, and this is still a terrific game. Just as the spirit of teamwork shines through in the way Dotemu, Tribute, and Nickelodeon have put this together, this is also one of the best opportunities to team up and enjoy some old school arcade action on or offline with mates. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel – but it does reawaken not only a terrific franchise, but reminds us of how damn cool and iconic the Turtles really are. If you need me, I will be working my way back through the cartoons with a gooey old slice of pizza.”

An 11-minute trailer was released to showcase what players can expect from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Survival Mode when it drops.

Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/operation-wolf-returns-first-mission-review/ Thu, 13 Jul 2023 10:25:21 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=280736 At ease, soldier

The post Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

I remember playing operation Wolf at at arcade in Skegness along time ago, complete with a plastic assault rifle controller. It was exciting as a kid to play something like that, and fast forward decades later, I’m wearing the Meta Quest 2 headset with controllers in hand, feeling like I did back on the promenade. Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission is a short game, but in the couple of hours or so, you get enough action to make you feel like Rambo in the best possible way.

The main campaign is made up of six missions with various stages which take you through various environments like deep jungles and weapon facilities. Choosing between four weapons and a handful of grenades, you’ll have to kill a lot of enemies. The pistol is a simple weapon to use, however, it won’t cut the mustard when you’re facing down burly men wielding grenade launchers or helicopters. The submachine gun has an unbalanced spread of bullets, but as long as you’re pointing it in their general direction, you’ll be fine.

The other two weapons on Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission require two hands to hold, but I found the shotgun to be clumsy and pretty useless. Meant for close combat, I was rarely near enemies without more breathing down my neck. You don’t feel comfortable using it as at times there can be a lot of enemies shooting at you, making the assault rifle a much better choice. I seldom used anything else because it was the most effective. You can throw grenades into swarths of soldiers for quick bouts of destruction, too.

By killing enemies, you’ll earn more ammo, and there’re also various chickens and pigs that can be shot at to bag yourself a few more rounds, ammo vest, or first aid kit. Hostages are also scattered around the jungle, and by blasting off the cabin doors, you’ll free them to earn a first aid kit. Exploding barrels can be fired at for a nice explosion, and some enemies will drop special weapons in the form of a rocket launcher and grenade launcher.

There were other cool moments that pop up and mix up the gunplay, such as a stationary rail gun. Enemy soldiers come out you from the sky, sneaking around a building or from a local barracks. There are tanks, helicopters, and even boss fights at the end of each stage, always providing a challenge or two. The on-rails nature of combat is smooth and lacked any kind of motion sickness for me, and the difficulty didn’t tend to put an end to my run. Even if you do die, continues throw you right back into the action. All in all, Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission is fun as hell, albeit a tad repetitive and far too short.

You can obviously replay the campaign to get a better rank which is based off how good your combo kills are, how many first aid kits you use, and how much damage you take. I rarely dipped below an A rank, but the difficulty can be changed if you so wish. The only other mode is a survival mode where you pick a stage and fight off hordes of enemies until you die. There’s not a lot to do outside of this, but if you’re looking for something simple and quick, it might be worth a go.

Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission is a basic on-rails shooter, but its gunplay is pretty decent despite the shotgun being a little redundant. It’s too short and there’s little to do beyond the campaign and survival mode, yet it kept me interested. The story is daft and never takes itself seriously, but I found that refreshing as it was all about the chaos and gunfire. It tries to mix things up as it goes, and the easy controls make it a good jump in and play type of game.

Manic Mechanics review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/manic-mechanics-review/ Thu, 13 Jul 2023 10:19:07 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=280730 Start your engines!

The post Manic Mechanics review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

There’s no denying Manic Mechanics is similar to Overcooked. You can see that from the trailers, and even when you jump into the first garage, there are other noticeable likenesses. Instead of food; it’s car parts, but that’s not a complaint because Overcooked has some of the best co-op gameplay, especially on the Switch. While it isn’t a difficult game to play, getting the best possible scores aren’t easy on your own. When you start to work out the shortcuts and play with friends or family, it becomes a much better game entirely.

The main premise of Manic Mechanics is straightforward enough. By inflating tires, polishing car doors, and fixing engines via quick and easy minigames, you’ll fix cars and move on to the next one. You collect the parts off a conveyor belt, take them to the correct station, complete the minigame, take it to the car, and repeat. At first, it’s all rather formulaic, but as you unlock new areas and levels, new challenges are added, as well as new parts to attach to the broken down bangers.

Batteries start to play into proceedings, whereby you have to charge them and add them to cars, however, if you leave them charging for too long they’ll explode. These batteries can also be connected to the engines at another new station, or they can be used to create shortcuts within the confines of the garage by powering up blockades to move them, or powering on huge fans to get you across areas. Sometimes, a car part will be gleaming on the conveyor belt, meaning they don’t need any work before attaching them to the car.

There are a lot of moving parts in Manic Mechanics, with other small hacks to get the job done quicker. You can dash towards a station or the belt, and parts can be thrown either onto the car or a station, helping to speed up the process. To counteract this, certain garages will have opposing forces ready to counteract your progress. Oil and water spills can cause you to slip, electrified floors and flowing lava can provide a hindrance, and when it comes to facing the bosses in the final level of an area, you better bring your A-game.

Between levels, you can drive around an overworld of sorts. By honking your horn or dashing, secrets can be uncovered which will lead to new characters being unlocked along with more cogs being found – the game’s currency. There’s not a lot to do here, but it acts as a nice segue between the levels when you want a short break. What makes Manic Mechanics great, though, is the co-op elements. You can play online, however, I spent a fair few hours sitting around with my daughters trying to remain as calm as possible.

Just like Overcooked, it is the moments in co-op that provide the most fun. Trying not to get in each other’s way and doing your best to formulate some kind of strategy, only for it to backfire the moment the clock begins to count down. There’s plenty of room for you and your friends to work together and get the most out of the different levels, and by focusing on a particular part or job within the team, it allows your score to rise a lot faster than it does on your own.

Manic Mechanics doesn’t change the co-op world or flip it on its head. It isn’t pushing boundaries, but it finds a great balance between fun and challenge, especially when playing with others. It’s a charming little game with colourful characters and a childlike sense of humour perfect for all ages. If you want a nice and chilled (for the most part) party game, this is definitely one to try. It never feels repetitive, always adding new mechanics and ideas, and the cartoony look was appreciated by me, an older player, and my two kids.

We reviewed Super Mega Baseball 4 and said, “However you decide to play, this is a superb looking title that is brimming with hilarity and comedic timing, with something for everyone. The presentation is whimsical and enticing and capable of drawing you in, but Super Mega Baseball 4 has massively addictive hidden depths that bely the cartoony feel, and for me place it amongst the best sporting titles to have dropped this year. It begs to be played in couch multiplayer with a few cold ones over the summer, but the franchise play will keep you going way beyond that. A home run.

Before you take advantage of the Super Mega Baseball 4 Steam Free Trial tomorrow, have a watch of the accolades trailer below:

The post Xbox announce reactive voice reporting feature, starting next week appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Xbox has today announced a new platform-wide, reactive voice reporting feature to Xbox Insiders that starts this week. The new feature will give players the option to capture and report inappropriate in-game voice chats, meaning Xbox is ramping up its safety features with the innovative feature.

The reactive voice reporting feature for Xbox allows players to capture 60-second video clips of an in-game voice incident which they believe violates the Community Standards, then submit it as evidence to the Xbox Safety Team for review. This will then be evaluating to see if a policy violation has taken place. The whole process minimises disruption to play, as the clip stays on a player’s console for 24 online hours.

This means a player can hold off reporting until after their session or until they’re ready. Of course, it can still be sent immediately, but the option provides flexibility. Xbox will also send a report to the player who haven’t sent a grievance within the 24-hour period. If the choice is made not to report, the clip will be erased from the console immediately.

“As a woman online, I often find myself staying silent in online multiplayer to avoid abuse and harassment,” said CamicaziBoss, an Xbox Ambassador. “I am excited for features like this that can help give people like me their voices back. Nobody should miss out on interaction with their fellow gamers because they are afraid to speak.”

The feature was built following on from extensive research and feedback from the player community. It will first be issued to Xbox Insiders before going out to the console player base in English-language speaking markets like the US, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Xbox is also testing and exploring additional languages.

The reactive voice reporting feature is detailed in much more detail on the Xbox Wire blog, which you can read here.

Superkami and Toplitz Productions have today announced that Sengoku Dynasty will be launching on Steam Early Access on August 10. During its Early Access, players will be offered hours of exploration, crafting, and resource gathering, whether playing alone or with up to four friends via its co-op mode.

Sengoku Dynasty is an all-new adventure set against the backdrop of a fictional Japan ravaged by famine and war. Players will need to rise from a simple peasant to become a legend, as they secure their legacy and build their Kingdom.

Superkami has made sure Sengoku Dynasty is a realistic and faithful representation, utilising plenty of information and visual resources which include historical and cinematic references, and photos from museum exhibits. Unreal Engine 5 has been used to bring its landscapes to life, and the huge open world will embrace the changing seasons as players explore “ancient forests, serene cherry groves, mist-covered hot springs and snow-covered mountain terrain.”

In terms of its gameplay, players will be tasked with growing and developing their villages by crafting tools and weapons, and meals and medicines, cultivating their land to keep their communities alive. Managing multiple locations and building expansive settlements to increase influence is key, as is obtaining vital resources and developing projects. Sengoku Dynasty offers plenty of freedom to create huge inter-connected towns featuring everything from rice fields and bridges to watchtowers and shrines.

In August, Superkami will reveal more details about the game after launch which will include a roadmap of forthcoming features and content updates. The developers will also listen to player feedback during the Sengoku Dynasty Early Access period with the hopes of refining the game and implementing regular updates and devlogs.

Amazon Games has today released the Lost Ark July update, which features a ton of exciting features including new story content and more. Along with the new storylines, it brings challenging raids, islands and events, and quality of life improvements that can be read in great detail via the official blog post.

Some of the highlights for the Lost Ark July update are as follows:

 • Elgacia Epilogue – Following the events of the Elgacia quest, players can dive into the Elgacia Epilogue and experience new quests and new rapport NPCs. Players can find their friends and help them discover new futures while they share celebrated memories from their travels.
 • Kakul-Saydon Inferno Legion Raid – Players will test their metal in the new Inferno difficulty Kakul-Saydon Legion Raid. Inferno difficulty rewards players with titles, achievements, Stronghold structures and more to showcase their victory to other heroes of Arkesia.
 • Music Box of Memories – Experience new stories about the inhabitants of Arkesia with the Music Box of Memories. The Music Box of Memories is the vestige of ancient civilization long gone, manifesting as a gadget that can be played with ‘Memory Orbs’, a new collectible. Players can gain hints from various continents and progress quests to collect Memory Orbs and earn rewards.
 • Maharaka Festival – The summertime Maharaka Festival returns with unique games where players can earn valuable progression rewards ahead of the incoming new raids in August. This month’s special activity is the “Run, Mokokos!” section of the Maharaka Festival where players will compete and race to the finish line as a Mokoko, dodging obstacles as they go.

Back in February last year, we reviewed Lost Ark and said, “Lost Ark is a lot of fun, ultimately. Even played alone, it’s entertaining; but with other people it comes alive. Learning the correct rotation for your skill cooldowns takes time, while things like Stone Faceting and Weapon-Honing seem confusing at first but soon make sense. But like any game of its type, you need to approach it for what it is, not what you expect it to be. If you do that, there’s a massive, sprawling world of adventure to be found. But seriously, bring a wallet the size of a small cottage for all the damn currencies.”

DNF Duel gets new character Spectre as part of the Season Pass https://www.godisageek.com/2023/07/dnf-duel-gets-new-character-spectre-as-part-of-the-season-pass/ Wed, 12 Jul 2023 09:01:42 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280708 Fangs for the memories

The post DNF Duel gets new character Spectre as part of the Season Pass appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

DNF Duel has received a brand new fighter to its roster as part of the Season Pass, introducing a dangerous female slayer called Spectre. Players can gain access right now as long as they’ve purchased the Season Pass.

Spectre, a female slayer, uses “Obsidian,” the deadly nodachi, and “White Fang,” the swift kodachi. Harnessing the power of the Ghost Fastener on the back of her hand, she showcases incredible air mobility, delivering swift strikes that confuse opponents by brutally attacking a broad area at once.

There has also been an update to the gameplay experience of DNF Duel via a patch that has been applied to all characters, as well as two powerful new systems detailed below:

 • The “Indomitable Spirit” system encourages more enhanced guarding strategies. Upon using it, block stun time becomes consistent while recoverable White Damage is received through a certain input while guarding.
 • The “Select Cube” system empowers players to strategically activate the Awakening system. By using “Gold Cube,” players can unleash the Awakening effect at 30% HP or less. Using “Clear Cube” allows players to trigger a milder – yet impactful – effect when at 50% HP or less.

Players can purchase the Season Pass for $19.99 which includes four additional characters set to be released in the future. Individual characters, including Spectre, can be purchased for DNF Duel at a cost of $6.99.

We reviewed DNF Duel back in June last year and said, “DNF Duel is an extremely welcoming fighting game that I’d recommend to genre veterans and newcomers alike. The battles are tense, the visuals are out of this world and the inputs and tutorials make it really easy to pick up and play. I never thought I’d truly get into this genre of video game, but DNF Duel managed to drag me into it and I couldn’t be happier.”

Poncle has revealed the first co-op gameplay video for Vampire Survivors, along with information about the new engine, community items, and more. You can find a breakdown of the information below, and more information here. .

Steam Community Items out now

All of these items are available now, and players can unlock the following to improve their Steam profiles, with some potentially cool references to other video games in the trading cards.

 • 5 Trading Cards
 • 6 Badges
 • 5 Emoticons
 • 3 Profile Backgrounds

First co-op mode gameplay video

New co-op item revealed: The Friendship Amulet

Along with the new gameplay video featuring co-op in Vampire Survivors, Poncle also revealed a new item called The Friendship Amulet. It can appear on the level-up screen and levels up a random weapon for each player, where they have to chose to improve their own weapons or offer it up to the whole group.

Fully switching to new engine

For a while now, Vampire Survivors has been running simultaneously on its original engine and its new one, however, now the game has reached a point where the new engine has been vigorously tested, the Steam version of VS will fully switch over from August 17 to coincide with the release of co-op.

Co-op hands-on event in London

Finally, Poncle will be hosting its first community event in London in early August. Players and VIPs will be able to try out the co-op mode with friends before it launches. Details on how you can attend will be announced via Twitter and TikTok soon.

Vampire Survivors has had an impressive year, and although we reviewed it last August, it’s just as popular as ever. In it, we said, “Vampire Survivors is a basic yet addictive roguelike, with a surprising amount of depth in its mechanics. Taking on hordes of enemies does seem daunting at first, but when you’re unlocking new weapons and abilities to slay them all, it is when the game is at its best. I don’t really like to bring the cost into a review, but for just over £2, it makes it almost a crime not to try it out. It’s the perfect game to spend an hour or two on when you’re struggling to choose something, and will more than likely give you something to play when you’re in a funk.”

iam8bit, Skybound Games, Annapurna Interactive, Ben Esposito, and Angel Matrix have today announced Neon White physical editions are coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 on September 12, with pre-orders starting from July 13.

Neon White is a lightning fast first-person action game about exterminating demons beyond the pearly gates. Players assume the role of Neon White, an assassin handpicked from Hell to compete with other (oddly familiar) demon slayers for a chance to live permanently in Heaven.

Players will be able to purchase physical editions of Neon White, featuring popular anime-inspired speedrun gameplay mechanics, for £34.99, which come with an original 11 x 17 foldout poster and artwork by character artist Rebecca Ryan. An iam8bit exclusive Edition will also be available through their official website for $44.99, including five Neon White anime-style “character peeker” stickers, an exclusive cover sheet by Ryan, a soundtrack by Machine Girl, and a region-free cartridge with worldwide compatibility.

Neon White has a 90 overall score on Metacritic, as well as nominations for ‘Best Debut,’ ‘Best Design,’ and ‘Innovation Award’ at the 2023 Game Developers Choice Awards, as well as a nomination for ‘Most Innovative Gameplay’ via the 2023 Steam Awards.

We reviewed the game over a year ago and said, “Neon White is a magnificent take on the FPS-genre, building complex and thrilling levels where simply pulling the trigger isn’t enough. It forces you to be on your toes constantly, and a single lapse of concentration will send the entire run into disarray. With an entertaining story and a loveable cast of characters, a gorgeous aesthetic and stylish design, Angel Matrix have made something that will be adored by a lot of people. Once again, Annapurna has backed the right horse, and I can’t wait to keep playing this for a good while.”

Everspace 2 gets PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release date https://www.godisageek.com/2023/07/everspace-2-gets-ps5-and-xbox-series-xs-release-date/ Tue, 11 Jul 2023 18:00:04 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=280588 Reach for the stars

The post Everspace 2 gets PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release date appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

Following a successful launch last spring, Rockfish Games has announced that Everspace 2 will be releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 15, 2023. Not only will it be releasing next month, the action-RPG will be hitting Xbox Game Pass on day one. Since its release, Everspace 2 has sold more than 350,000 copies, and now players will soon be able to experience it on consoles.

On PS5, it’ll take full advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and speaker features, and on Xbox Series X|S, players will get to explore over 100 handcrafted locations in Everspace 2 via Xbox Game Pass.

“With space adventure games getting more attention than ever, we’re excited to bring Everspace 2 to whole new audiences on Xbox and PlayStation this August,” says Rockfish Games CEO Michael Schade. “The two years we spent in Early Access when developing for our PC launch has served us well in the lead up to our release on consoles and we’ve used the last few months well, polishing an already rock-solid foundation. Series X and PlayStation 5 players can look forward to exploring the star systems of Everspace 2 supporting 60 FPS when we launch later this summer.”

Everspace 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will launch on consoles with a 30-hour campaign featuring more content filled with side missions, jobs, distress calls, location challenges, puzzles, and more. We reviewed it, and said, “Everspace 2 is just a lot of fun. It presents you with a great big galaxy to unlock and explore, a ton of customisation options, a smorgasbord of activities to indulge in, or the option to just fly around and see what kind of mischief you can get into. Its move away from the Roguelite template hasn’t harmed it at all, and there’s so much here to get stuck into that you’ll lose hours just exploring and playing hero. An absolute blast.”

Fireproof Games has announced its popular VR puzzler The Room: A Dark Matter will be coming to PSVR2 on July 27. The independent game developer from Guilford have spent the last five years focusing on the VR experience, and over the last few months they’ve been working hard on bringing the game to PSVR2.

Designed from the ground up for the unique capabilities of VR, players can inhabit the spine-tingling world of The Room and interact with its strange contraptions in this compelling new chapter. The game begins deep within The British Institute of Archaeology, where the disappearance of an esteemed Egyptologist prompts a Police investigation into the unknown. Explore cryptic locations, examine fantastic gadgets and discover an otherworldly element which blurs the line between reality and illusion.

When it released in 2020, The Room VR: A Dark Matter was well received, managing to knock off Beat Sabre from the #1 spot on Oculus Quest, earning an ‘overwhelmingly popular’ player rating on Steam. We reviewed it and said, “The Room VR: A Dark Matter is a complex puzzler that gives you plenty to do, and makes sure you’re never left in limbo if you’re struggling to progress. The visuals are great, and the audio makes every crank, mechanism, and object feel real. Whilst the rooms take a while to complete, and the text and level of detail can strain your eyes, it’s still a fantastic puzzle game that keeps you on your toes throughout.”

For players who owned the original game on PlayStation will be able to upgrade free of charge when it releases at the end of the month. The Room VR: A Dark Matter on PSVR2 will feature higher resolution assets and visuals, and support for rumble.

It’s up to you to solve the mysteries of Snaktooth Island: What happened to Lizbert? What are Bugsnax and where do they come from? But most of all, why do they taste SO GOOD?

Players will be able to experience Bugsnax on the App Store with the following features:

 • Make Yourself At Home! Complete challenges from your mailbox, collect decorations to personalize your hut, and most important of all: put hats on your favorite Snax!

When Bugsnax released almost three years ago, it became one of our biggest surprises, and in our review we said, “Bugsnax offers thrilling gameplay with a poignant story about community and hope that continues to keep you engrossed throughout. The hundreds of bugsnax are well-designed and different, allowing you to come up with various ways to catch them. It looks gorgeous, both in the island and the grumpuses you meet, with a fantastic voice cast where no-one outperforms anyone else. Bugnax is a brilliant albeit short adventure filled with warmth, and I will definitely be playing it again very soon.”

Train Sim World 3 sees the addition of a new content to Southeastern Highspeed as it has made the Thameslink Class 700 available from today. The modern EMU is seen by millions of passengers each year both in and around London, as well as Kentish natives commuting along the Chatham Main Line as far south as Rainham.

The unit is recreated in a high level of detail, with the interior seating plan, passenger information display and in-cab driver’s screens all featuring as part of a truly representative operating experience, as well as the ability to switch modes between third rail and overhead power and plentiful lighting and safety options to toggle.

Fans of Train Sim World 3 have been requesting the inclusion of the Class 700 since the release of the Southeastern Highspeed route which is now upgraded and extended in the game. This now takes the number of playable services to a hugely impressive 700. Players with the London Commuter and East Coastway route Add-ons can now make use of the Scenario Planner to recreate regular Class 700 services from Brighton to London, or their rarer trips through Lewes and Eastborne.

A bundle will be available that features all relevant Train Sim World 3 content for Souteastern Highspeed, including the Railhead Treatment Train, ROG Class 37, and Class 700. It’ll be the perfect introduction for new players who are coming to Train Sim World for the first time, or those that have yet to play the Southeastern Highspeed route.

Take to the tracks, master the machines and battle the elements. Control iconic locomotives from the USA, UK and Europe, hauling mile-long freight, high-speed passenger and busy commuter trains.

The Train Sim World 3 Thameslink BR Class 700/0 loco DLC is available from today for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam for £12.99.

Capcom hosted a special presentation for Exoprimal that shared plenty of new details for their online team-based action game. During the Exoprimal Showcase, Director Takuro Hiraoka offered an early look at upcoming seasonal updates, crossovers with Monster Hunter and Street Fighter 6, ‘Final Mission Selection’ for Dino Survival, and more.

When Exoprimal launches later this week, it’ll feature a mode within Dino Survival called Final Mission Selection that offers three matchmaking options. PvP games sees two rival squads of Exofighters go head-to-head at the end of matches to decide who wins or gets “fed to the raptors.” PvE don’t involve direct PvP, but require speed to complete all objectives first in order to survive. The random option provides “the adventurous with a small experience bonus,” with fighters free to change preference settings to mix things up at any time.

As for the post-launch roadmap, the Exoprimal Showcase offered up plenty of interesting information for what fans can expect in the future. Season 1 begins when the game launches on Friday, with a brand new game mode commencing two weeks later on July 28 called ‘Savage Gauntlet.’ The new mode will challenge teams of five players with late PvE missions rotating weekly and can be replayed for higher rankings and rewards.

On August 17, Exoprimal will feature its first major title update including 10 Alpha variant Exosuits, with the alternate designs featuring completely different weapons from their standard counterparts. Season 2 will kick off in October, and includes a Street Fighter 6 collaboration, a new map and Final Mission, and more rigs and modules.

Finally, in January 2024, Season 3 begins and sees Beta variants of Exosuits, a brand new enemy called the Neo Triceratops, and a collaboration with Monster Hunter. You can watch the Exoprimal Showcase below:

PUBG Mobile will be launching a landmark crossover with Dragon Ball Super this Thursday, alongside a huge gameplay overhaul. Along with new items, vehicles, and areas, two new game modes are included: Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode and Battle ROyale: Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode will take place between July 13 and September 4 and will feature the classic PUBG Mobile battle royale gameplay with elements from the popular anime. Players can collect seven Dragon Balls to summon Shenron and make a wish at the Shenron Summoning Altar for powerful in-game buffs. There are four new areas that will replicate locations and architecture from the series (Dragon Ball Village, Tenkaichi Budokai, Kame House, and Karin Tower) and will feature various goodies for players to find. Players will also be able to travel around in the three-seater Air Car to get around the battlegrounds.

The new mode will also feature Ki energy, allowing players to eat Senzu Beans to gather the integral energy force to perform the Kamehameha beam and Buku-jutsu to fly freely at running speed, along with enhanced mobility on the ground. There will also be more details released soon regarding the hidden Dragon Ball Trial, where players will be tasked with searching for seven Dragon Balls.

The second mode coming to PUBG Mobile is Battle Royale: Dragon Ball Super, and it’ll transform the battlegrounds into a stylistic animated art style world between July 15 and September 4. Players will then be able to embody one of five iconic characters like Son Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo, and Ultimate Gohan. Players will need to gather Spirit Crystlets and Spirit Crystals to restore energy and upgrade their moves.

“One of the world’s most iconic Japanese manga and anime franchises, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Super have achieved something truly exceptional in staying relevant and meaningful to the generation that grew up watching and reading it, whilst constantly engaging new and young audiences,” said Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing at Tencent Games. “In addition to its multi-generational and international appeal, its famous theme of conquering challenges really resonates with PUBG MOBILE and our players, and meant PUBG MOBILE team really worked hard to make this one of the most impressive in-game brand collaborations.”

From July 14, a ton of themed outfits will be available, with more coming on August 11. As for the gameplay enhancements, Version 2.7 is set to improve the World of Wonder creative mode, add new content, rewards, and cosmetics to Cycle 5 Season 13, and more. Gylt review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/gylt-review/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 15:00:19 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=280183 What we do in the shadows

The post Gylt review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Horror is a genre that tends to go for severe jump scares, buckets of blood and gore, and fiendishly detailed monsters that have a tendency to flip your stomach over when you set your eyes on them. Few titles strip back these elements in favour of an approach to a younger audience, and while Gylt is in no way only for teenagers or children, I would have no qualms about letting my daughters play it. It feels more Coraline than Resident Evil – more Corpse Bride than Outlast. By framing the tension and aesthetics this way allows the audience to understand a more realistic horror many have been privy to in their lifetime.

Bullying is something we’ve either witnessed happening to those we know or to us ourselves. It can destroy confidence and a will to live, ruining lives and impacting childhoods well into becoming adults. Maybe we can blame the bully’s upbringing or the things going wrong in their own lives, but when those being affected are feeling crippled by that oppressive hold it has on them, crying in toilet cubicles afraid to leave, or refusing to get out of bed in the morning, it’s upsetting to see. Gylt starts off with a girl finding an alternative route home because she’s afraid of the bullies who are heckling and taunting her, setting the tone for what’s to come.

Gylt Review School

In the fictional town of Bethelwood in Maine, USA, Sally finds the town isn’t what it normally is, embodying the Silent Hill switcharoo, where weird creatures lurk in the shadows, streets now void of life. It’s spooky but not outright terrifying, and that’s fine. Gylt isn’t trying to be a brash and offensive bloodbath awash with mutilated bodies and shrieking banshees. The creepy monsters aren’t cutting you to shreds or impaling you with razor-sharp tendrils, but rather hunting you down and forcing you to start over from the last checkpoint, minus the grisly end. In an effort to avoid being spotted, you must sneak around the shadows, hiding behind bushes, crates, or whatever you find.

Each enemy has a field of vision, although you’re never quite sure what this is as darkness doesn’t always mean your invisible to them. It simply provides a better cushion of protection. They walk the same paths, so it’s easier to work out when they’ll start circling back towards you, giving you plenty of options to sneak past them and get to the next area of safety. You have a flashlight that can highlight a way through in the darkness, but it will also fend of monsters in a similar way to Alan Wake. These encounters aren’t particularly scary, and dealing with enemies can feel repetitive, but it doesn’t carry the same level of monotony other horrors have a tendency to exhibit.

Gylt has the occasional puzzle involving familiar tropes of the genre, such as finding certain keys or turning valves and moving climbable platforms, but they work well with the confines of the environment. You’re never stuck, and that simplicity makes for a nice flow to gameplay. The visuals look great on PlayStation 5, despite some of the darkly lit areas, yet environments like the arcade are brimming with vibrancy and offer a nice alternative to the gloom and eerie hallways of the school. It’s a pretty game, making the switch from Stadia exclusive to multi-platform very well.

Gylt Review Arcade

As Sally searches for Emily, her missing cousin and another victim of bullying, the story fleshes out somewhat, although there feels like some omissions into the overarching narrative. It’s emotional at times, but some of the answers I had didn’t feel like they were answered. You can find letters and documents scattered around to provide some backstory, but I didn’t feel satisfied by the time it reached its conclusion. Others may feel different, and it may have a bigger impact on those that have been victims of bullying, but I didn’t get out of it the answers I wanted.

Gylt is enjoyable albeit familiar. with many mechanics seen in a fair few games before. Puzzles are relatively easy to solve, but they offer a nice break from the stealth elements, always giving you something to do while searching for your cousin. While the story is enjoyable, I feel like it could have done more in explaining things. It’s gorgeous to look at, touching upon a style of horror seldom seen in the medium, and despite it being on Stadia for almost four years, the transition to modern consoles has done it the world of good.

Crash Team Rumble review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/crash-team-rumble-review/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 08:31:28 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=280005 Know your role

The post Crash Team Rumble review appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

What started as a simple platformer on PlayStation’s flagship console, Crash has features in various titles and genres over the years. We’ve seen sequels, remakes, racing, party, and even toys-to-life games featuring the cheeky orange bandicoot, and the latest title dips its toes into the Battle Royale genre. Toys for Bob has done a decent job within the confines of the online multiplayer in Crash Team Rumble, but it’s quite surprising this isn’t free-to-play. Although it controls well and has various layers to its teamwork, it feels quite limited in what you can do at the moment, and the Season Pass isn’t that exciting.

The main premise of Crash Team Rumble is quite simple. Two teams of four must collect more Wumpa fruit than the opposition, reaching the goal of 2,000. What makes things more complex – bringing the thrilling elements to it – is how you can take on different roles within your team. There are three roles at present, and each has a role with specific goals, and if everyone knows their role and sticks to it, matches can be fun.

The first role is the Scorer, and they’re responsible for collecting the fruit and delivering it to the scoring platform. Characters like Crash are faster than their teammates and can also carry more Wumpa. They have decent abilities to fend off enemies who want to try and attack them, however, the Blockers are much better at dishing out damage. Dingodile and Dr. N. Brio fall into this category, and their job is to hurt the enemy, protect the scorers, and try their best to defend their platform or prevent the opposition from depositing their Wumpa.

The final role is the Booster, and in my opinion, the most important. Not surprisingly, I found few players wanted to take on this role, just as players rarely want to be a Healer in Overwatch. Few people enjoy support roles, but I found them to be the most flexible. Coco and Dr. Neo Cortex play a pivotal role in building scoring multipliers by jumping on sets of gems, turning them the colour of their team. They can also activate map-specific bonuses such as the ability to heal all of your team or spawn a bonsai tree that’s home to a ton of Wumpa fruit.

In theory, players should stick to these roles. In the majority of matches I played, teams stuck to their roles for the most part, but it loses its enjoyment if players stray from them. Toys for Bob has been meticulous in how these roles all work together, so it’s a shame if players want to deviate. Of course, this isn’t a fault of the developer, but it loses its appeal when matches populated by strangers aren’t working together. Voice chat is integral to playing in unison, and if you’re risking matches with people you don’t know, the same level of enjoyment isn’t present.

Luckily, each player has a power-up that can be charged over time. These can range from a Flytrap Spitter that acts as a turret of sorts, and whenever an enemy is in range it’ll dish out a handful of damage. The Wumpa Stash increases your deposit bonus; Power Drain zaps the rate at which the enemy team’s fill their power-up gauge; and the Gasmoxian Guard is fantastic at dealing enemy damage and making it hard for the opposing team to drop off Wumpa.

Crash Team Rumble is fun to play as far as the controls go. The platforming elements are fluid and responsive, and I never had issues with movement or getting around. It also looks good, with the various maps all designed wonderfully. My main concern is how the Battle Pass progresses far too slowly, something I mentioned in our preview. The content within the battle pass isn’t that exciting either, unless you’re a diehard Crash fan, and the rate of progressing takes a lot of successful runs. There’s still some cool stuff, but having to pay for a game that still feels limited and then the battle pass, I’d have expected more.

Crash Team Rumble is much better than I first thought it would be. Matches can be a lot of fun if everyone sticks to their roles, and the maps look great, but are also designed in interesting ways to make use of character roles. As it’s a live-service title, I hope Toys for Bob is dedicated to keeping it fresh and it doesn’t become another victim of a low player base; though suggestions are this might already be happening. Despite a battle pass that takes a lot to progress through, there’s an enjoyable experience here.

All Elite Wrestling changed the professional wrestling landscape four years ago, and ever since it has continued to grow in talent and popularity. Thanks to Tony Khan, an alternative to WWE has offered fans some of the best matches of all time, continuing to surprise us with an ever-expanding roster and engrossing storylines. Personally, it revived my faith in professional wrestling in the US, and gave me a chance to watch favourites of mine like Kenny Omega on a weekly basis. AEW: Fight Forever is the first official video game from the promotion, and despite it having some issues, it’s a hell of a lot of fun to play.

When it gets down to brass tacks, action inside the ring is relatively simple and addictive. Despite it being clunky at times, that feel of No Mercy and WrestleMania 2000 from the N64 days has been faithfully recreated, and more often than not, the gameplay is straightforward. The fundamentals are easy to master. You can punch and kick to deliver short combos, and lock in a grapple to perform a handful of moves. You can Irish whip an opponent into the corner or the ropes, and perform a few simple aerial moves off the top rope.

The move sets aren’t too varied, but it’s the ease of performing that makes it engaging. Some of the basic moves like picking up an opponent off the mat or turning them round for a grapple from behind aren’t detailed anywhere, so I had to work them out for myself. It’s a little frustrating, especially as some of the best signature moves are performed from behind. However, once you work it out, matches can flow reasonably well, and when you incorporate diving moves like the Tope Con Hilo et al, action is frantic. One of the coolest aspects of AEW: Fight Forever is how you can keep performing signature moves without losing the ability to do so.

AEW: Fight Forever CM Punk and Darby Allin

For example, in one of my first matches, I played as Kenny Omega and hit a Dragon Screw Suplex, followed by a V-Trigger, then another couple of Dragon Screws. In a game that doesn’t take the realism too seriously, it adds one of the most realistic aspects of professional wrestling to it. Many matches will see a signature move performed a couple of times in succession, and it’s good they’ve incorporated it here. To perform a Special, or finishing move, you simply have to taunt the opponent with the right stick, then get in the correct position and flick the right stick again.

With most of the signatures and specials, you’ll get a quick replay that adds to the arcade feel, and it’s wonderful to watch. My biggest gripe, though, is that matches can be won in under a minute. Now I know this does happen, but AEW is known for its epic matches, and these quick finishes diminish the grandeur of getting Bryan Danielson to step up against the likes of CM Punk or Jon Moxley. It’s not the worst thing imaginable, but I often refused to pin an opponent because I wanted the matches to keep on going. The way you get to the point of pulling off a fancy move is by building momentum, and this can be done by executing different moves or gaining buffs for specific actions during a match.

It has a nice flow to it, and in 1v1, AEW: Fight Forever is excellent. Tag matches are also a lot of fun, as are the triple threat and 4-way matches, however, the real stars of the show are the Lights Out and Exploding Barbed Wire Matches. These are the moments where it doesn’t take itself seriously. Lights Out offers players a ton of different weapons to use against an enemy, such as a mop wrapped in barbed wire, a football helmet that can be thrown on an opponent, a baseball bat with nails attaches to it, golf clubs, and the more traditional weapons like steel chairs and tables. You can reach over the barriers and pick up a weapon quickly, making these matches even more enjoyable.

As for the Exploding Barbed Wire Match, after a certain time, the barbed wire that’s replaced the ring ropes will explode, greatly damaging anyone close enough. The Casino Battle Royale is also in AEW: Fight Forever, as are ladder matches, giving fans plenty of match types. It would have been cool to see trios matches included, along with the Iron Man match, Blood and Guts, and a few others, but in many ways, it feels like the game isn’t the complete package.

AEW: Fight Forever Eddie Kingston

AEW: Fight Forever has a limited roster. Some professional wrestlers are being added, but there’re some notable omissions like The Acclaimed and Swerve Strickland, and future DLC additions like FTR, Keith Lee, and Hook should simply be a part of the original roster. I’m hoping that other professional wrestlers will be added later down the line because it does feel like it’s missing some key members of the roster. In other ways, AEW: Fight Forever feels massively out-of-date, and that they got to a point where they had to stop updating or else it would never be released, however, Ortiz and Santana are nowhere to be seen.

The Road to the Elite mode acts as a career of sorts, and Omega’s influence is felt right through it. He’s a massive fan of the Yakuza series and developers Ryu Ga Gotoku, and a lot of interactions have a similar humour and presentation. It’s silly at times, but I loved it, probably because I adore Yakuza as well. The mini games are also a ton of fun and again, feel like they’re a respectful nod to RGG as well. It only lasts for a year, but each block is made up of four weeks where you can go for a meal at a local restaurant or sightsee at specific places depending where Dynamite is being held; do some training at the gym; appear on a talk show; and even compete on Dark and Rampage, followed by competing at one of the four major PPVs.

Each week, completing these tasks help to improve your motivation, energy, skill points, and cash. The higher your energy and motivation, the better shape you’re in for your weekly match on Dynamite. The more skill points you have helps to upgrade your created wrestler’s (although you can play though the career as an AEW wrestler), and cash can be spent on unlocking weekly perks, however, I never felt like I needed them as the time I had across the week gave me enough opportunity to maximise things like how motivated or recovered I was. When it comes to the weekly match, stories from AEW’s early years feature, such as Inner Circle and MJF’s rivalry.

AEW: Fight Forever Kenny Omega

It is in these moments that it feels out of date the most. I get it’s celebrating its beginnings, but showing video packages of Taz introduce the FTW belt feels like a lifetime ago. Maybe I’m being too picky, as the actual flow of Road to the Elite is nice and quick, arcadey, and funny. Watching Hangman and me pose in front of the Lincoln Memorial, or getting a boop from Kris Statlander while eating my New York Hot dog shows how it doesn’t take itself seriously, as well as paying homage to RGG Studio. There’re also a ton of Easter eggs and in-jokes, including a few references to WWE thrown in for good measure.

The custom suite isn’t packed full of options, but there’re some decent enough options in the custom arenas. The custom wrestlers are limited, though. I couldn’t find a decent beard at all, and I hope these get added to the in-game store. By the end of my year in the career mode, I had so much cash I didn’t know what to do with it, so fingers crossed more stuff gets added. While it doesn’t feel unfinished, it does feel outdated at times, but thankfully it’s so much fun to play.

The gameplay in AEW: Fight Forever isn’t going to blow fans away, but it does remind me of the times spent on my N64 pulling off quick and simple moves that look awesome. Some of the wrestlers don’t look like who they’re supposed to be, but the characters are more cartoony than lifelike, and I’m fine with that. This isn’t a polished 2K WWE-style game. Fans might not like that, but I honestly enjoyed getting involved in matches. It’s quick and easy to jump in, and I hope more gets added to it over the coming months. It would be a shame if, after a few DLC drops, that’s all we get.

While AEW: Fight Forever does feel a little empty and outdated, jumping into a match as Chris Jericho, Orange Cassidy, and Britt Baker is so damn cool. I love this company with all my heart, and while I might have been down on it at certain points, I’m in no way disappointed. I just pray to TK and Yuke’s that there’s more to come from it down the line. Still, the developers have reminded us why they were so good at making wrestling games fun, just like what All Elite Wrestling has done for the sport as a whole.

Last month, I got to play the first couple of chapters of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, and having never played the original, I found that it stood on its own in today’s era of gaming as a strong puzzler with bold and colourful visuals. Now I’ve played much more, my feelings have changed a little, however, I still enjoyed the majority of the surprisingly long murder mystery involving a dead man and the search for how he met his grisly end. Its bonkers and inherently Japanese in its humour and flamboyancy, yet a lot darker than I thought it might be.

After finding yourself dead in the middle of a junkyard, you play as a spirit with no memory of who you were or what happened to you. It’s a simple premise at first, but one that grows into a much bigger conspiracy that has you hooked throughout. While some of the gameplay can drag due to its linear nature of solving puzzles and tons of dialogue, it was still enjoyable, and the various people you encounter along the way are full of surprises. In order to complete certain puzzles, you must possess different objects during ‘Trick Time,’ and these can range from a spinning Christmas decoration to a screwed up piece of paper.

Each area is self-contained in Ghost Trick: Phantom detective, and you can travel to a new location through the phone wires. At each area or chapter, you’re tasked with solving a certain puzzle. I’d have liked to be able to try different methods in order to do so, but it’s more a case of finding the one way to solve whatever your presented with. Thankfully, they’re varied enough, keeping things fresh as you press forward. Some are much more complex than others, and some are as simple as knocking a pair of headphones into a fish tank.

Other puzzles join together to create longer conundrums to solve. One had me trying to get a rat from the attic to fall down to help a posh, terrible mother find her dictionary that you need to possess. As she moves you over to her table, you can then take control of a desk lamp that makes her mess up her typing (she’s writing a smutty novel, obviously) and throw a piece of paper into a bin, with you having to possess the paper at the right time so you go flying across the room with it. Some objects can’t be used, acting as a pathway to a more useful one, however, there’re plenty of ways to get the attention of the living and complete these puzzles.

While most of the challenges give you as much time as you need, there are specific sections that rewind back to four minutes before a death (and there’s a lot of dying), where you have to find the solution quickly or else you’ll fail. You can of course replay these until they’re solved, yet they offer a nice bit of pressure in order to progress. As you get used to moving around the screen and switching between Ghost mode (the time when you can move around as a spirit and possess objects) and the real world, Ghost Trick: Phantom detective is at its best.

One of the biggest downsides for me was the amount of dialogue you have to read in order to actually play. This could be story-building, or it could be a conversation, a thought going through someone’s head, or even Sissel’s (that’s you!), always popping up when you’re eager to start solving the latest puzzle. While some of the writing is funny, it’s also unintentionally so, however, there’s just too much silliness, even for me. If you can get past these awkward moments then there’s plenty of enjoyment when it lets you play.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is gorgeous to look at, and every environment is packed full of detail. The character animations are smooth, and while this is a HD remaster of a Nintendo DS title, it looks great on a PS5. The music is always funky and upbeat, with a vast soundtrack for you to enjoy as you play. You can check out a fancy gallery to listen to the excellent music, as well as unlocked artwork. It’s presentation is one of its biggest plus points, and I never grew tired of the visuals or the score.

If, like me, you never got to play Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective back in 2010, then now is a great time to experience one of the most inventive point-and-click puzzlers ever made. While there’s plenty of dialogue and little freedom, the variety in how to solve puzzles and get through the story is varied enough to hold your attention, and with a killer soundtrack and beautiful visuals, it still holds up almost 13 years later.

Mark Zuckerberg has today announced a brand new VR subscription service called Meta Quest+, available for Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets. Starting today for £7.99 a month or £59.99 annually, players will get two hand-picked titles every month. For anyone that sights up now until July 31, it’ll cost just £1 for the first month.

Starting on the first of every month, two titles will be available to redeem, and once downloaded they’ll be available to play as long as players remain subscribed to the service. Players are also free to unsubscribe at any time, however, if rejoining later on, every title downloaded while a player has been subscribed will become available once more.

The first two titles available are the awesome rhythmic FPS Pistol Whip from Cloudhead Games, and ARVORE Immersive Experiences’ nostalgia-fuelled arcade adventure Pixel Ripped 1995. August’s games have also been announced, with players able to jump into MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE from Terrible Posture Games, and the social VR experience that is Mighty Coconut’s Walkabout Mini Golf.

We reviewed Pistol Whip when it originally released in 2020 and said, “Pistol Whip is my favourite PSVR game of all time. The excitement of moving through the gorgeous levels whilst firing your gun in different directions, all whilst listening to an exhilarating soundtrack make it feel like nothing I’ve played before. With three difficulty levels, multiple gun controls, and various modifiers, you’re given plenty of control in how you play as well as making the game as challenging or as easy as you want.”

You can check out the full terms and conditions on the official website. A launch trailer for Meta Quest+ was released, and you can watch it below:

Kingdom Eighties review https://www.godisageek.com/reviews/kingdom-eighties-review/ Mon, 26 Jun 2023 11:00:39 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?post_type=it_reviews&p=279705 Stranger Kings.

I’m a sucker for anything relating to the 1980s, whether it’s the music, the movies, the fashion, or the aesthetic. Being born in that era, I have small memories of it, specifically through the media I consumed; I just wish I could have been old enough to appreciate it more at the time. Kingdom Eighties grabs that time by the horns and uses the synth waves and style as a backdrop to craft a wonderful strategy title that gives you plenty of freedom to fend off the threats that await you as well as allowing you to explore the town for all of its secrets, lore, and nods to the coolest decade of all time.

There’s an evil lurking within the town known as the Greed. At first, you’re not too sure what they are or where they came from, but as you progress through the episodes, you understand your own family’s involvement in their emergence and what your relevance is in the story. It’s often played out through 80s-style cartoon cutscenes between episodes and after spending coins to dig deeper into the lore. Even the story feels like a homage to classics from the time, and it really comes into its own after arriving on Main Street.

I’d never played a Kingdom game before, and its base-building elements were a nice surprise. Each episode follows a day and night cycle. In the day, you spend coins on expanding and reinforcing your base, hiring local kids to become builders or warriors ready to defend against the Greed when the night falls, and finding other ways to help your fight. You can head east or west of the base, chopping down trees to connect your base to the next area (wherever a traffic cone is present), while at the same time finding other objectives like recruiting one of your friends to help you out, or unlocking a new bike or mode of transport.

At the same time, you can upgrade your base to allow better fortifications against the enemy, and in turn unlocking a dumpster to help protect you as you push towards whatever the episode’s main objective is. As the day unfolds, you’ll earn more coins by finding chests or telephone boxes; collecting them off the kids within your camp who might have killed some nearby animals; through jobs the kids can complete like fishing or being a lifeguard; and more. The more coins you have, the stronger the base can become, and as you progress, new things can be constructed to help you out, such as turrets and laser-firing robots.

Kingdom Eighties has a nice flow to it, with the day and night cycle and the ease of dropping a few coins into something to either build or harvest, and there’re a ton of secrets to find that offer some really cool Easter eggs. My favourite involved a certain scene from Back to the Future Part II and an iconic skateboard, but there’s much more to find, and fans of pop culture from the time are going to have plenty of fun finding it all, with nods to E.T., Gremlins, and more.

When the night rolls around and the Greed begin to attack your base, it can be a tense experience, especially when you’re trying to decide whether you have time to fortify before one of the little creatures takes out a worker, or whether five archers are going to be enough to fend off the next wave. When I first started playing, I felt lost when it came to earning coins and what to do, as there was little guidance other than a floating figure who told you to go to something and pump some coins into a building or object.

You do begin to work out what you need to do, but the enemy can be relentless, and if they knock the crown off your head and take it back to where they came from, you’re screwed. Thankfully, the more coins you have and the better your defence, it starts to become rather satisfying. As the Leader, you start to unlock your friends to join you. The Champ is a jock with the ability to fend off the Greed with force; the Tinkerer is able to tweak inventions and help to fight the Greed; and the Wiz is a tech-loving nerd who helps with certain contraptions and problems you encounter.

The pixel-art is stunning, with various neon signs and homages to the 80s done so in plenty of detail, with gorgeous colour in everything you see, whether it’s at the camp you initially start at or the mall, it just looks so good. Even the animations of the various iterations of the enemy look great. The soundtrack is also a great addition to Kingdom Eighties, helping to bring the era alive and create both tense and beautiful moments throughout the story.

I love Kingdom Eighties. Not just because of the era it was set in, but because the gameplay is so addictive. The base-building elements and the exploration make every new episode exciting to play, and the different ways you must progress all pose interesting challenges. It was tricky to get to grips with at the start, and unless you’re fully prepared it can be easy to lose your crown. Regardless, I had so much fun with it, and I fell in love with the story and animation.
