Let’s face it the last Nintendo Direct was amazing, with plenty to get excited about, well, not being ones to rest on their laurels Nintendo have now revealed that there’ll be a Pokémon Direct tomorrow with a PR blurb that literally states ‘seven minutes of new information’.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I am well up for a new range of Pokémon with silly pun names like Flambéar, Buoyson or Gnulip, the question then remains, where will it be based? Tune in to the Nintendo UK YouTube channel to find out.

SENRAN KAGURA Burst Re:Newal for PS4 finally has its EU Physical Collector’s Edition detailed.

Marvelous Europe has always done fantastic editions for the Senran Kagura games in Europe and the tradition continues with Burst Re:Newal. The game is a remake of the previously 3DS exclusive Burst for PS4 and it will release in Europe this Autumn. The Bountiful Beauties Edition is pictured below:

It contains the following:

SENRAN KAGURA Burst Re:Newal PS4 Game
SENRAN KAGURA Burst Re:Newal Soundtrack Collection
SENRAN KAGURA Burst Re:Newal Art book
Six “Busty Bestie” Keychains with Display Stands
DLC Voucher for the following content:
Burst Girls Uniform
Old Hanzo Uniform
“Lovey Dovey” Diorama Pose
Playable Character Yumi & Prologue Chapter

It is Marvelous Europe store exclusive so pre-order it here.

The Digital Deluxe Edition is called the Shinobi Rivals Edition and it includes the game, a digital soundtrack app, and DLC that’s in the physical CE. It also has some uniform DLC exclusives.

SENRAN KAGURA Burst Re:Newal Shinobi Rivals Edition and the Bountiful Beauties Edition are both PS4 exclusive and will be released this Autumn alongside the standard edition of the game. I usually end with buying both the EU and US releases for these games so I’m now waiting to see what XSEED/Marvelous USA announces for Burst Re:Newal. Watch the Japanese trailer below:

As part of the Pokémon company’s Year of Legendary Pokémon you can get Xerneas and Yveltal from GAME and GameStop stores.

Running from May 4 until May 26 Pokémon players on either Sun, Moon or Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon will be able to go to a GAME store in the UK or GameStop in Ireland to get a code for these Legendary Pokémon. As well as this, if you’re into the Pokémon duel app then Xerneas and Yveltal are two of eleven new boosters being added to the game today.

If you’re a Pokémon fan and you haven’t picked up Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon yet, you probably should do that, we reviewed it back in November last year giving it 9.5/10.

That’s right, Nintendo’s exploring Toadstool is getting a re-release on Nintendo Switch, with a co-op mode, where one person controls the good Captain, while the other throws food at enemies to clear a path. The game will also feature kingdoms based on Super Mario Odyssey, with New Donk City being shown in the direct.

But, in a surprise twist, 3DS owners will also get a port of Captain Toad, so if you have Nintendo’s older handheld system then you’re not being left out.

The game will release on July 13.

I hope you’re feeling Comfey because here’s a new Detective Pikachu trailer giving us some new info on the game before it’s March 23 release.

Everyone’s favourite electric mouse is here with a bunch of his Pokémon pals, to solve the case in Ryme City with the help of a few…oddish looking humans. As for what the case is, we have no idea, but apparently it involves Mewtwo in someway. Could we be expecting something to Exploud?

They’ve really captured Pikachu’s likeness Beautifly, but the human models do look rather Gastly (I’m going to stop with the puns now before I hit the bottom of the Bibarel).

Anyway, watch the trailer, there’s just over a month to go.

If you though Pokémon Gold and Silver for 3DS were enough you;d be wrong, Pokémon Crystal is also coming, and it’s only next month.

Pokémon Crystal was an expanded version of both Gold and Silver, and seeing as both of those precious metals have seen their release on 3DS already it only makes sense for Crystal to folow shortly after, and January is the time.

Pokémon Crystal was the first game in the Pokémon series to let you choose a male or female player character as well as bring animations to Pokémon battles, and when the game launches on Jan 26 the game will be fully compatible with Pokémon bank, allowing you to transfer your pokémon from it to the newer games.

Also, in this version there’ll be an event after the main game is finished to meet and catch the pokémon Celebi.

The post Giovanni returns in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon along with other familiar faces appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

The head of Team Rocket returns in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, this time he’s backed up with the head of every villain team from Pokémon games past.

This new group of villains is known as Team Rainbow Rocket, and while their motivations aren’t known, with Giovanni (the head of Team Rocket from Pokémon Red and Blue) in charge, it can only be bad news.

Giovanni and the other villain bosses aren’t the only blasts from the past to come in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, if you head through one of the Ultra Wormholes in the game you can meet Legendary Pokémon from previous titles too. Mewtwo, Kyogre, Zapdos, Lugia, Yveltal, Ho-oh and more all are waiting for you should you explore beyond the confines of Alola. The Pokémon you can meet will differ between the two versions, but if you missed any of these Pokémon in the previous games this is your chance to get them, either by trading or owning both titles.

Other features coming to US&M are a Battle Agency, where players have to win battles with rented Pokémon, rewards are available for good performance through the ranks. There’s also totem stickers to be found in the environment, which when collected can grant access to large ‘totem’ pokémon, one again, the ones you meet will depend on the version of the game you have.

I think it’s fair to say that this is looking to be the most feature rich Pokémon game of all time, and it’s becoming apparent that this is not just a rehash of Sun & Moon. It’s out on November 17 on the 3DS family of systems.

Atlus will be no longer partner with third parties for its European output and will now handle it themselves.

According to a post on Gamesindustry.biz the Persona publisher will operate its own European publishing arm out of SEGA Europe’s offices, this is obviously a knock-on effect of SEGA’s acquisition of the company. The new team is looking to add a PR manager and a product marketing manager to join commercial director Simon Inch.

Handling this distribution themselves will allow them to better serve their fans in regard to the Special Editions claims Senior PR of Atlus US Jacob Nahin:

It is a strong example of the growth we are experiencing as a company. Publishing in Europe is simply the next step for us. What this means initially for fans is a parity for launch and premium editions. From a business perspective, we’ll be better positioned to address the needs of each market in which we release our titles.

Exciting stuff, and can only be good for Atlus’ output going forward, including the forthcoming Persona dance and Persona Q2 games. While I have your attention, you might want to check out Persona 5 if you haven’t already. Our own Mikhail played it and loved it, check out his 10/10 review here.

Monster Hunter Stories has its own amiibo or it did in Japan at launch and as of now no details are available about these amiibo being released in the West. There are also some monster raising elements in Stories. It is great to see another Monster Hunter game make its way to 3DS. I wonder when Nintendo and Capcom will announce a Switch Monster Hunter.

Nintendo Switch and 3DS to coexist says Reggie Fils-Aime https://www.godisageek.com/2017/01/nintendo-switch-3ds-coexist-reggie-fils-aime/ Sat, 14 Jan 2017 08:21:45 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=187714 By my side

The post Nintendo Switch and 3DS to coexist says Reggie Fils-Aime appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Reggie Fils-Aime says the Switch and 3DS will live side by side.

In an interview with WIRED, Fils-Aime spoke about the future of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems now that the Switch is nearly in the market. He had the following to say about the 3DS and the Switch:

3DS has a long life in front of it. We’ve already announced games that will be launching in the first couple quarters of this year. There are a number of big games coming. And in our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side. You’re going to be meeting different price points, you’re going to be meeting different types of consumers, you’re going to have the newest, freshest content available on Nintendo Switch, you’ve got a thousand-game library available on Nintendo 3DS, plus some key new ones coming. They’re going to coexist just fine. We’ve done this before, managing two different systems. I think there’s a sense that Nintendo Switch is a portable device. It is portable. But at its heart, it’s a home console that you can take with you on the go.

This is interesting because even though Nintendo is marketing the Switch as a home console first, it can be played almost completely as a portable as well. Another interesting point of contention is how some of the biggest supporters of the 3DS have been absent when it comes to anything Switch related like the Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney teams at Capcom or Level 5. Yokai Watch is a huge deal on 3DS and Monster Hunter is arguably bigger. Both were nowhere to be seen at yesterday’s event. Nintendo is releasing a few Wii U game ports or versions for Nintendo 3DS early this year but it remains to be seen how 3DS is supported after. Atlus announced a new 3DS project for the 25th anniversary of Shin Megami Tensei as well. There’s a rumoured Pokémon game releasing on the Switch but that is big enough to warrant its own announcement or event.

Nintendo Switch will be available from March 3 and it is region free.

Thanks, WIRED.

Dragon Quest XI is also confirmed to launch on Nintendo Switch (NX).

Here’s the glorious opening for Dragon Quest XI as well:

The post Dragon Quest VIII releases on Western 3DS systems in January 2017 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

One of the best games ever made releases early next year with a raft of improvements specially for 3DS systems.

Dragon Quest VIII is one of my favourite all time games. With it’s excellent cell shaded looks and great localisation it captivated me back on PS2, and it looks set to do so again when it releases on Nintendo’s 3DS family of systems on January 20th 2017.

It isn’t just a straight port either. There’s a bunch of changes being made to the game. For starters, random encounters no longer exist. Instead the monsters will roam the lands for you to pick and choose your battles, similar to how they did it in Dragon Quest VII earlier this year. There’ll be extra story content, two new characters to play as and a photo mode complete with poses and enhancement features.

January isn’t that far away, and I can’t wait to get back into this. If you can’t wait, and you haven’t played Dragon Quest VII yet you can read what I thought of it here. It’s pretty good, and should keep you occupied until VIII launches.

We really liked Yo-Kai Watch on the 3DS, and you can read our review here.
It appears that all that love hasn’t fallen on deaf ears as it looks like the US will be treated to TWO versions of the sequel.

Recieving a lot of love in Japan, the sequel to the first game, developed by LEVEL-5 will offer the same rewarding gameplay and zany adventures.
You’ll be given the chance to explore new areas outside of Springdale with more than 100 new Yo-kai.

There will be a new-and-improved Yo-kai Watch and even the ability to time travel.
If that wasn’t enough, you’ll be able to make a choice between Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls, each featuring rare Yo-kai that can only be found in their respective games.

Tied in with a new season of cartoons, toys and mechandise, Yo-Kai is becoming an unavoidable, adorable franchise to keep a ghostly eye on. Here’s hoping it makes an appearance in Europe as well.

Hyrule Warriors: Legends Preview https://www.godisageek.com/2016/02/hyrule-warriors-legends-preview/ Thu, 25 Feb 2016 14:00:26 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=174646 If Hyrule’d the world.

The post Hyrule Warriors: Legends Preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

It’s been over a year since Hyrule Warriors came to the Wii U. Omega Force’s Musou take on the Legend of Zelda universe was a gorgeous technicolour feast for the eyes and was positively dripping with fan-service for the die-hard franchise followers. When it was announced that the game was going to be coming to the 3DS I had to wonder how they were going to capture the look and intensity of the game and fit it within the constraints of the 3DS hardware. What has been produced is nothing short of a technical marvel.

If you weren’t paying attention when it originally released, Legends is a different style of game to every other Legend of Zelda game in existence. Koei Tecmo’s team speciality is the musou game. You roam large maps dispatching foes and capturing structures to expand your army and turn the tide of battle in your favour. Battle conditions change constantly and you’ll find yourself needing to move across the area to ensure you keep control of the tide of battle.

LinkleThis flowing mission structure can see you fighting for upwards of twenty-five minutes at a time, giving you more than enough to do, but not really being friendly for short public transport trips. People with longer commutes will have no problems though, and anyone else will find the DS sleep system comes into its own preserving your battle ready for the next time you open up your DS system (just remember to keep it charged though).

When you leap into the game you’ll wonder how your 3DS isn’t bursting into flames as it renders the expansive battlefields and rolling hills of the game’s stages. These aren’t Monster Hunter style small interconnected locations, no, these are large, sprawling locales filled with hundreds of enemy mobs to hack and slash away at. You’ll regularly rack up over a thousand kills per mission, that’s the scale of the battles on offer here. It really is amazing how Omega Force managed to achieve this.

While obviously losing some of the fidelity of the original Wii U version, Hyrule Warriors: Legends is still the full experience, only shrunk down and placed into your hands to take wherever you want. Not only that, but they’ve fleshed the game out with all the DLC that came out for the original and included a six new characters, including Linkle with her own side story. This isn’t just some rush job for the series’ thirtieth Anniversary.

Hyrule Warriors: Legends is shaping up to be an excellent version of the Wii U title. Not only does it come with the base experience, but all the add-ons and more. You’ll be able to obtain new weapons via amiibo and play all new stages. You can even transfer the new characters to your Wii U and use them in the home console version. All this gives fans a multitude of reasons to double dip with the title.

Nintendo and HAL have today announced a follow-up to last years indie BOXBOY!, titled BoxBoy: One More Box.

The sequel is currently available on the Japanese eShop, with a Western release assumed to be on the way considering the success of the original BOXBOY. Nintendo Everything reports that players will once again control Qbby, who can unleash boxes just like in the first game. Apparently he is more powerful, being able to release two boxes at once. Nintendo also commented saying that the stages are undauntedly powered up, providing players with even more of a challenge.

Medals collected in the different levels provide costumes, musics, and comics. Those with save data from the first BOXBOY! can also use costumes from that game. Our guy Nick gave the original 7.5 in his review, stating that it’s a “decent puzzle game that doesn’t overstay its welcome”.

The post SteamWorld Heist Available on 3DS, Devs Thank Fans For Support in Open Letter appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

SteamWorld Heist is now available across all regions on the Nintendo eShop for 3DS, and the team over at Image & Form could not be happier.

In an email sent to outlets, CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson said that the game is currently sitting 89%, making it the best new 3DS game of 2015 as well as the 6th best of all-time on the site. He asked that we don’t regurgitate a press release, but instead publish a heartfelt letter he’s written to thank fans for their support during development. Just a few things we must note first.

SteamWorld Dig is only available on 3DS for the time being, but will be coming to Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, PC, Linux and Mac OS sometime next year. The game is currently discounted, sitting at a price of £11.99 right through until December 31 and if you buy before then, you get a free HOME screen theme.

Our review for SteamWorld Heist will be up in the next couple of days, Lee has played plenty of it but just needs a bit more time with it to finalise his thoughts. You can see Sigurgeirsson’s letter below.

Dear all,

After two years of developing SteamWorld Heist, our biggest effort to date, we’ve come out on the other side. Towards the end we beat a near-impossible time schedule to have the game approved on the first try by Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe. We made it: it would be released in 2015. A week ago we sent out for reviews and wrung our hands in giddy, dreadful anticipation of the verdicts. And we passed that test as well: in terms of reviews, SteamWorld Heist is a resounding success.

SteamWorld Heist is a game that requires a longer explanation than a brief elevator pitch. It’s a new game, a mashup of genres where the sum constitutes something unique and larger than its parts. In short you control Captain Piper, who commands a rag-tag band of steam-driven robot pirates throughout strategic, turn-based shootout missions. It’s set in 2D, so you can use the environment to bounce shots, take cover and get the upper hand. You’ll find weapons and equipment, collect swag and gather experience to upgrade your crewmates, while you’re slowly getting tangled up in a war of factions.

Today, December 10, SteamWorld Heist is finally out of our hands. It’s strange that we cannot really affect it anymore. From today it will be put to the real test – the judgment of the Nintendo 3DS community. When we released SteamWorld Dig on Nintendo 3DS in 2013, we came from nowhere and were embraced, lifted up. You can’t imagine what that’s like. Because of that, since then we’ve been determined to give as much back as possible: to make a game so great that it could change people’s preferences, to make them play a game they thought they wouldn’t like – and ending up loving it.

I believe we’ve made such a game, and here it is. With it, I hope we never have to listen to phrases like “It’s a great game… for an indie studio,” because it implies that indie studios will somehow always be second-rate. With such a preconception, we cannot charge adequately even when making top-notch games, and in turn it means that we can’t be brave enough, economically and creatively, to go all in.

Well, we have gone all in this time, and we’re not afraid. Games aren’t indie or AAA – they’re just better or worse. We know we’ve made one of the best games this year, and we want you to find that out for yourself. Your faith in our promise is the only thing we need to continue creating magic. Thanks for supporting us.

Steamworld Heist launches on December 10, and you know what that means……LAUNCH TRAILER TIME!!!

Brought to you by the people behind the lovely Steamworld Dig, Image & Form Games takes you on a strategic shooter galactic tour.

It launches, via eShop, worldwide (Japan excepted) on Thursday for Nintendo’s 3DS family of systems. Post launch there will be a free content update offering a bunch of new ‘fun-game stuff’ and French, German, Russian and Spanish languages. While that may seem odd, there is a sweetener for people not au fait with the English language. It’ll launch at $16.99/€16.99/£11.99, down from the RRP of $19.99/€19.99/£14.99, and they’ll even throw in a 3DS Home theme too. So, it does pay to adopt early even if English isn’t your mother tongue.

The embargo for review lifts tomorrow, and our review is coming, but it might land after release. We want to make sure we’ve adequately put it through it’s paces before we let you guys know what we think.

Games review aggregate site OpenCritic has been updated with a couple of new features today.

Chief among these is a new ranking graph system.

The purpose of this is to show inquisitive gamers just whereabouts a particular score falls amongst the other games ranked on the site. So you can see if the game’s aggregate score puts it in the top games around, or the worst.

Next up is a percentage recommended indicator. Essentially, this boils down to a marker that tells you how many outlets have scored the game above 80%, thus indicating a recommendation. Any non-scoring outlets that have branded a game as recommended or higher will also be included in this figure.

OpenCritic is really setting itself out to be the prime destination for your game score aggregative needs. Simple to use, and with a host of information for you to get your teeth into.
