As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out how FC 24 Ultimate Team shakes things up for the most talked-about mode in the title. Starting out as a paid addon many years back, FC 24 Ultimate Team is a chance for the developer to make big changes, as you don’t get the chance to make a brand new game in a sports series very often.

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, and of course, Ultimate Team was front and centre, with Garreth Reeder (Senior Producer) and Jean Teather (Producer) kicking things off talking about the brand new feature: Evolutions.

FC 24 Ultimate Team: Evolutions

The idea behind Evolutions is that you can create an ultimate team player card that nobody else has. Reeder explained it’s “a new feature that lets you upgrade player ratings, skills, positions, and the items themselves”, and that yes, these would be permanent upgrades.

EA isn’t ready to show us any ratings for FC 24 Ultimate Team just yet, so used last year’s FIFA 23 ratings for examples.

Using Youssoufa Moukoko from Dortmund as an example, completing challenges they were able to get him from a 69-rated silver card, to an 85-rated gold. Once you start the process, a player is marked as an “in progress player” and the game will track his actions and progress, as you complete challenges. You might hit tier one first, which takes him from 69 overall, up to 77. Even after you hit 85 as a max, that might not be the end. A new evolution might fit the player and can keep growing him, which allows you to have a player you take through your whole season.

FC 24 La Liga walkout

Play Style and Play Style+

As per the main game, Play Style and Play Style+ are present in Ultimate Team. Tying into the evolutions mechanic, Teather explained that “Special and campaign items can be upgraded, too”. As an example, FIFA 23 Jude Bellingham Team of the Week got a Play Style+ upgrade and better stats. You can even upgrade the cosmetics of your Ultimate Team cards, and EA Sports has signed a deal with Nike to make custom animations for FC 24.

PlayStyles+ are visible on the cards to the left side of the card. There are going to be some seriously impressive cards fully upgraded. TOTW cards might have added PS+ attributes because of real-world stuff. The producers explained that if someone like Erling Haaland scored an amazing-headed goal in the Premier League, he could end up with a TOTW card that had the Power Header Play Style Plus attribute.

Position Changes

You can finally change players with ease, adding better stats and Play Style additions along the way. Instead of relying on cards from packs or the market to change someone from, let’s say, a CDM to a CM, you can change them wholesale. We’re talking players like Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk moving from centre-back into midfield. We even saw goalkeepers as strikers.

FC 24 Ultimate Team: Women’s football

This new game has given EA Sports the chance to add female players into Ultimate Team, meaning you can mix and match squads, or even have an all-female Ultimate Team squad. This brings in new chemistry options, so Chelsea players like Sam Kerr will have good chemistry with players from the Chelsea men’s team.

There are six new women’s football competitions represented: Women’s Super League, champions cup, Liga F, D1 Arkema, Frauen-Bundesliga, and the NWSL. The player stats are linked to the competition they play in the real world, not against the numbers for the male players.

Icon chemistry, finally fixed

Lastly of major note, EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team will have fixes that make the icons easier to use. Now they will give chemistry for every league represented in the squad. So this means that you don’t have to worry about the position modifier step, you can just move players around and they’l;l gain chemistry for their alternate and primary positions.

EA Sports FC 24 launches on all formats on September 29th, 2023.

]]>

As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out how FC 24 Career Mode shakes things up for the much-loved, but often missed-out mode in the series. Career Mode is often the place many of us will spend hundreds of hours, but sometimes it’s a mode that gets forgotten or left behind a bit.

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, and FC 24 career mode had a big part of that, with Alex Constantinescu (Principal Game Designer) and Pete O’Donnell (Game Design Director) speaking about not one, but two modes, as Player and Manager career are split up this year.

Manager Career: tactical vision

EA says this year the focus is on a “total management system”, offering more control, and a chance to implant your tactical vision onto a team. There are seven tactical visions to choose from, including the likes of Tika Taka, Gegenpressing, Park the Bus, and so on.

This plays into some of the other new features for FC 24 such as Play Styles. For example, you can now focus on individual fixtures in terms of preparation. You’ll get pre-match reports, and therefore you and your backroom staff can prepare a training plan. This means you can select drills that exploit the weaknesses of your upcoming opponent, and will allow you to gain temporary Play Style bonuses for players who otherwise wouldn’t have them. If you’re up against a team that plays “Park the Bus” for instance, you can train with the “Drill Maze” and that will give lesser talented players temporary access to the Technical Dribbler Play Style.

EA Sports FC 24 Career mode

FC 24 career mode: coaches and backroom staff

As well as hiring scouts, now you have to hire backroom staff in the form of coaches. The idea is that you’ve set your stall out as a manager who likes Tika Taka, you’ll hire coaches that also help in that area, making you upgrade your players and get the tactics across more quickly.

EA’s team explained that the idea is to combine your tactical vision with your coaching staff to get the best results.

Tactical view

Tactical view is a new camera angle for spectating matches. You can focus on a single player, or you can orbit the ball. Crucially you can make changes as the match goes on, and honestly, some of it reminded me of the old FIFA Manager games, and more recently, of course, the Football Manager series.

FC 24 career mode: player career

Not to be outdone, Player Career now includes player agents. You will be offered guidance and objectives that will help you try to make your career path trajectory. Basically, on-the-pitch objectives that, should you achieve them, can make your dream move a reality.

Of course, you can also incorporate the Play Style system into your pro, and the player cam will have a larger focus on you as a player. That’s not all, however, as you can now win the Ballon D’or award in-game, with a cut scene playing out and everything. There are other awards you can win, but EA hasn’t revealed them yet.

]]>

It’s tempting to say the devil is in the details of EA Sports FC 24. After spending a weekend playing a pre-beta build of the game, there are reasons to be impressed with what EA is attempting with it’s brand new, not-FIFA title, while there are also elements that will undoubtedly feel familiar to people who have ploughed in hundreds and hundreds of hours of the past year, let alone the past few years.

The truth of the matter is, that a lot of what EA is doing to make EA Sports FC 24 stand out this year isn’t on offer to actually play yet. While we have a feature that details all the changes that make it a different prospect, I want to talk about how the game feels on the pitch, at least in the current state, which is admittedly subject to change, and EA says it’ll be listening to feedback to potentially make those changes.

That said, the presentation is another level up for FC 24. New menus and UI is one thing, but EA is attempting to push things a little further than even the broadcasters do right now, and as such has implemented some new unique stat overlays that’ll appear on the pitch, such as “Most Fatigued Players”, giving you an idea of either how much you’re over-using the sprint button, or perhaps just over-doing the wide play, which could even give you an idea why you can’t break down an opposition team’s defense.

EA Sports FC 24

Lighting is better, there’s a focus on showing what’s happening off the pitch a little more, and all manner of smaller touches that make it feel both more authentic, and less immersion-breaking than before. New features and buzzwords such as “GPU Cloth” (a fancy way of saying that shirts and kits look and react more realistically) and “EA Sports Sapien Technology” (muscles have been mapped to understand and replicate how the flex and move) are all present, as is the “GTAO” or “Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion” (better lighting and shadows), and all this adds up to make this simple statement true: FC 24 looks great, and better than ever before, with more realistic looking players, crowds, and stadiums.

But without question, the most significant change from FIFA 23 to EA Sports FC 24 is the introduction of “Play Style” and “Play Style Plus”. Have you ever played a match in any FIFA and you’ve gone to tackle an opposition player, won it cleanly, and the ball has somehow remained in their possession? That’s a rhetorical question, because of course you have. Ping-pong tackling has been a problem in football games for as long as I can remember, but the Play Style that the likes of Nathan Ake for Manchester City has now, means he has extra animations and will keep the ball close to him when making that tackle, and thus eliminating the frustration of making a great tackle, but somehow still not winning the ball. While I’d question slightly the choice of Ake in this pre-beta to show off that Play Style Plus, the execution is superb, and something I’ve been waiting to see addressed for the longest time.

There are three tiers to Play Style in EA Sports FC 24. Some players will be more generic, and have no Play Style. The next tier is for more well-known players who have been identified using OPTA (the stats people, no less) to have those Play Styles, while the top-tier professionals have the plus moniker. In practice, this means someone like Bernado Silva who has the Play Style Plus dribbling bonus will be just that bit better on the ball than someone without the plus, who will in turn be better than someone without it.

EA Sports FC 24

This all amounts to additional animations that only the right players will have. Speed dribbler, block, power shot, power header, dead ball, tricksters, and more, these boosts are going to make certain players feel very important in the new game, and should combine with things like the improved collision system which should mean that when a physical battle happens, there are fairer outcomes based on who is actually involved in the battle. For example, Rhodri for City isn’t that fast, but he’s economical with the ball and wins his duels, and that’s exactly how he felt in the matches I played. Mbappe is going to outpace him, but that’s no longer the be-all and end of the gameplay, and while my sample pool was limited to just four teams, there’s a lot of early promise here that suggest FC 24 might not just end up a pace-fest like FIFA 23 did.

There are new features worth noting, such as the precision passing that benefits the players who can utilise it. Holding left trigger, right bumper, and triangle will allow you to perform a swerved precision pass, and a line will appear on the screen showing you in advance where it’s going to go. There’s a new effort dribble touch that will make your player stretch out a leg to make contact with the ball sooner, so if it looks like you’re going to lose the ball to a tackle, you can get an extra touch in and move away.

Four new skill moves (skill rainbow, flair nutmeg, ball roll drag, drag back turn) have been added, and a controlled sprint dribble that’s somewhere between a standard jog and a full sprint offers more control over faster movement without hitting a full sprint. It all works, and it’s all very promising. But FIFA 23 wasn’t a bad game on the pitch, for the most part, so these changes don’t feel revolutionary, instead evolving a good game into a better one.

EA Sports FC 24

In truth, the biggest changes seem like they are under the hood, with massive updates to Ultimate Team and Career Mode. So far, EA Sports FC 24 looks and sounds the business, and there’s even a new secondary commentary team this year in the form of Guy Mowbray and Sue Smith. It plays a damn fine game of football, offering balanced matches that retain the feeling they could go either way, like proper football should. Tactics matter, players matter, and it really could be something special.

It really does feel like Ultimate Team and Career Mode have been given the biggest boosts off the pitch, and I’m dying to find out how what EA has told us actually plays out when experienced firsthand. Fingers crossed this early hands-on isn’t misleading, then, because so far EA Sports FC 24 is onto a winner, with smart additions, tweaks, and under-the-hood changes. It may not be a full-on revolution on the pitch, but it certainly did leave me wanting to sample the rest of the game in detail.

The post EA Sports FC 24 Pro Clubs | Cross-play and all the new changes detailed appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As one of the biggest games of 2023, all eyes are on EA Sports to find out if any attention has been paid to FC 24 Pro Clubs. Will cross-play be included this time around, what of the league systems, and can anything be done to stop smurf accounts making new players feel rubbish?

We recently had a chance to attend a 90-minute-long producer session, where each of EA Sports FC 24’s producers had a chance to come out and speak about their mode, including Jeff Antwi, Line Producer for Clubs & Volta, because yes, first things first: they’ve dropped the “Pro” to match the branding of the game now. Introducing FC 24 Clubs.

FC 24 Pro Clubs: cross-play

So aside from that major change to the name, the biggest news is that Antwi confirmed cross-play for both clubs and Volta Football. This will include all match types, so that’s drop-in, friendly, playoffs, and leagues.

There will also be all new virtual pro content produced all year round, including gear by Nike as EA Sports has signed a new partnership with the brand. Play Styles (and the Play Style Plus) will be available in clubs for virtual pros.

League structure

The league structure for EA Sports FC 24 Pro Clubs (now clubs!) has been overhauled. Antwi explained this is to keep the competition “fresh for the entire year”. It will reset every six weeks, and you’ll have an all-new trophy room.

The idea is to build your club’s identity each league season, as every club match will contribute toward a shared club progression, adding fans as you get bigger and better. Fans are an experience bar of sorts, and as you get more, you will unlock bigger stadiums and more customisation content, and your AI teammates will also improve, getting better overall ratings. There are new rewards for every season, from banners to colours, lighting to inflatables, and there are also new animated TIFOs.

Volta mode

While Volta will also get the customisation options that come in through the partnership with Nike, and also benefit from the cross-play functionality, EA Sports hasn’t revealed any other major new ideas or content for Volta in FC 24.

EA Sports FC 24 launches on all formats on September 29th, 2023.

EA Sports and Codemasters has confirmed the F1 23 real-world challenges and free items coming to F1 World for July. The in-game hub is designed to connect players to the real-world sport they love, adding daily, weekly, and seasonal content to EA Sports F1 23.

EA says that there will be “multiplayer races, Community Grands Prix, and Hot Laps challenges for players to compete in. Players can earn exclusive rewards tied to the 2023 season, such as special edition liveries, driver helmets, race suits, and more. As a bonus, all players who log in during the Austria Grand Prix weekend will receive Max Verstappen’s special edition Miami Grand Prix race helmet”.

Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters said” We’re always looking for more ways to partner closely with Formula 1 and the F1 teams, and F1 World unlocks that potential and enables us to create real-world challenges and reward players with free exclusive one-off items for use throughout the season”, adding “F1 Replays is another huge step forward allowing our players to jump into the previous Grand Prix and re-write history by competing with an identical grid”.

F1 23 red bull july

The idea is that every month the F1 23 “F1 World” section will change things up, and since it’s the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend (July 1st-2nd), there will be a hot lap challenge at the Red Bull Ring track, while you can also get the Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Miami Grand Prix car livery for use across F1 World modes, and the My Team mode. There are other items you can get by completing challenges at bronze, silver, and gold levels.

In our review of the game, Chris White said “Whether you’re looking for the most realistic F1 experience in how it controls and looks, EA Sports F1 23 has nailed it. Races are thrilling and the attention to every little movement to the controller is reflected instantly, providing complete control on the tracks. Visually it’s impressive, both with how the courses look and how the animations are presented, and the sounds of the cars on the circuits are more than impressive. If you felt like last year’s entry wasn’t quite enough, or didn’t offer you the best racing experience it could, this is definitely a big step in the right direction.” and awarded the game a 9/10 score.

EA Sports F1 23 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor released in April to some pretty high acclaim. Continuing the story of Cal Kestis that began in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Survivor tightened up many of its predecessor’s issues to deliver a compelling, engaging adventure. Some of the most common complaints, however, focused on the game’s stability, which wasn’t always great and varied from platform to platform.

Well, today developer Respawn have released a new patch that fixes a host of technical bugs and issues in the game. Below is a list of problems addressed in Patch 6, which should make the game much more stable across the board.

  • Fix for bounty hunters not spawning
  • Fix for an issue where Caij would become invisible
  • Fix for occasional issue where “Find the Gorge’s Secret” Rumor could not be completed
  • Collision improvements
  • Improved blaster handling
  • Fixes for Photo Mode
  • Wind puzzle on Jedha fixed
  • Updates to the holomap data
  • The training dummy on Jedha was “sneaking around”. It has now been immobilized
  • Various bug fixes & Improvements
  • Various crash fixes across all platforms

The team at Respawn have also confirmed that they will continue to work on the technical side of the game going forward, so expect to see more patches down the line. If you haven’t played Survivor, you can read our review here, in which we said:

“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is going to make a lot of fans happy, whether you’re unfamiliar with the wider universe or not. Combat and traversal is sublime, and despite certain boss fights being as tough as Beskar nails, the satisfaction of taking down a legendary enemy feels euphoric. There’s so much to do and see, with a story that grips you until the very end, never taking its foot off the gas and giving you all the thrills and excitement seen in some of the most highly regarded stories fans already know and love.”

Today marks the release of the latest Wild Hearts content update, which brings a new Kemono in the form of the Alpha Venomglider.

This update also allows you to forge a new armour set after hunting the monster a few times, as well as a new monacle cosmetic ornament, just for funsies. The update adds a story quest to hunt down the Alpha Venomglider, and then adds a new repeatable quest to hunt the new kemono for materials to craft the new gear, pictured here.

Wild Hearts new "Alpha Venomglider" content update

Wild Hearts is a monster-hunting adventure game that mixes an ancient Japanese aesthetic with a thrilling, innovative build-crafting system that sees you construct devices on the fly that can launch you into the air, allow you to glide, or otherwise hinder, harm, or outright slay the huge beasts you hunt. You can team up with friends and strangers, or tackle the danger alone with a variety of weapons that completely alter the way you approach each challenge.

When we reviewed Wild Hearts at launch we said: “Wild Hearts is a fantastic video game. It has so much flair and personality, and so much of it is designed with fun in mind. Yes, it’s challenging and some of the Kemono will test your skill and patience, but there’s so much to find and grind for, secrets in the wilderness to uncover, dozens and dozens of weapons to get to craft, side quests, repeatable hunts, optional Karakuri to unlock.” We also scored it a very respectable 9/10. The post FIFA 23 Ultimate Team of the Season (TOTS) revealed appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

EA has lifted the lid on the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team of the Season, the best players from across all leagues and nationalities, and we’ve got the full list for you to peruse.

The developer says that the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team of the Season (FIFA 23 TOTS) release means that award winner items will be in select packs in game, and these rare awards will feature “on a unique TOTS Award Winner shell, with the same stats and action shot as their original TOTS item and be in packs at the same time”.

EA says that “Only Ultimate TOTS players are able to receive a TOTS Award Winner item. TOTS Award Winner items will be available in select store packs and engagement packs only during Ultimate TOTS week, ending June 16, 6pm BST”.

Here’s the list, with the first eight players having the special new purple cards, which are related to players who won individual awards (player of the season in their league, etc). While EA didn’t name them for us, we’re calling them “Award Winner” TOTS cards, and they’re the eight players in bold, below.

  1. Bellingham, Jude (Dortmund)
  2. Nkunku, Christopher (RB Leipzig)
  3. Osimhen, Victor (Napoli)
  4. Benzema, Karim (Real Madrid)
  5. Clauss, Jonathan (Marseille)
  6. Rafael Leão (AC Milan)
  7. De Bruyne, Kevin (Manchester City)
  8. de Ligt, Matthijs (Bayern Munich)
  9. Vinícius Jr. (Real Madrid)
  10. Fofana, Seko (RC Lens)
  11. Frimpong, Jeremie (Bayer Leverkusen)
  12. Éder Militão (Real Madrid)
  13. Pedri (Barcelona)
  14. Griezmann, Antoine (Athletico Madrid)
  15. Haaland, Erling (Manchester City)
  16. Hernández, Theo (AC Milan)
  17. Kvaratskhelia, Khvicha (Napoli)
  18. Lewandowski, Robert (Barcelona)
  19. Mbappé, Kylian (PSG)
  20. Messi, Lionel (PSG)
  21. Rashford, Marcus (Manchester United)
  22. Salah, Mohamed (Liverpool)
  23. Saliba, William (Arsenal)
  24. ter Stegen, Marc-André (Barcelona)
  25. Musiala Jamal (Bayern Munich)

As you can see from the list, there’s a major lack of Manchester City players, which is especially given odd when, at the time of writing, they’re on the cusp of winning the treble (Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup), which would be the first time it’s been done by an English team since Manchester United in 1998-99 season.

On the other hand, there seems a lot of Real Madrid players, and given how well Arsenal have played all season, a lack of players from them as well.

FIFA 23 is available now on all formats.

]]>

During Summer Game Fest, EA and Ascendant Studios released a new Immortals of Aveum trailer, showing off more gameplay.

The new trailer for Immortals of Aveum, called “Colossal Assault” had an interesting caveat at the start, saying “visual quality depends on your system”, as the game is coming to PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, and shows off more about “the epic fight undertaken by our hero Jak (Barnet) and his fellow Immortal Magni, Devyn and Zendara, as they hop aboard one of the most imposing elements of the game, a 400-foot-tall Colossal; an ancient titanic war machine able to transport an entire battalion of Magni into battle”.

EA says that “the Colossals are heavily regulated due to their immense destructive power, but Jak and crew will use whatever means to chase down Sandrakk and gain the upper hand in the Everwar”. Check out the trailer, below:

Immortals of Aveum is set in an original fantasy universe engulfed in magic, rife with conflict, and on the edge of the abyss. Players experience this visceral and cinematic, story-driven game through the eyes of Jak, as he joins an elite order of battlemages, masters all three colors of magic – blue, green, and red – and decimates legions of enemies with clever chained attacks and well-timed counters. Combining a modern story within a fantasy setting, the world of Aveum is filled with unforgettable characters, fast-paced action and spell-based combat that defies FPS conventions.

“I’m incredibly excited to finally show the world Immortals of Aveum. It’s been a five year journey for us at Ascendant, and I’m so proud of the team and their commitment to making something great,” said Bret Robbins, CEO and Game Director at Ascendant Studios. “We set out to create a cinematic, thrilling shooter set in a new fantasy world, with fast and fluid combat and an epic story. I can’t wait for everyone to play it.”

Immortals of Aveum is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X on July 20th.

EA and Maxis has just revealed that The Sims 4 will be getting more kit packs coming on June 1st, and hitting PC (via the EA App), Mac via Origin, Epic Games Store, Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.

With these kits, Maxis and EA says that players can “relish in a dynamic duo of creative possibilities that empower you to celebrate your Sim’s unique style and curate peaceful hideaways. Merge the rebellious spirit of the grunge movement with the tranquillity of reading sanctuaries, and let your Sims embrace their authentic selves”.

The latest packs for The Sims 4 will be the Grunge Revival kit, and the Book Nook kit. It feels strange typing this about Grunge and The Sims 4, but EA says that with that pack you can “dive headfirst into a realm of unfiltered self-expression that celebrates the unpolished, the imperfect, and the free-spirited”, adding that you can challenge expectations (in The Sims) full for worn textures, layered options, and “bold accessories”, you can strut your stuff “with a wardrobe that’s all about experimenting with effortless, confident fits”.

The Book Nook Kit

EA reveals The Sims 4 Grunge revival and Book Nook kits

Onto the Book Nook kit, that’s more about cosy escapes and quiet corners to escape from the busy world (of The Sims, but I guess of life as well if you love the game). EA says that “this kit features plush window seating, stackable bookshelves and cushy sofas with soft, relaxing accents that’ll help your Sim escape into captivating stories and enjoy the magic of the written world in their new favourite spot in the home”.

It’s pretty strange to think that the game has been out for nearly ten years in some form or another, and Mick Fraser scored it a whopping 9/10 when he covered it in 2020 for us, saying it’s “something I can just put on and drift around in, hopping between households and locations as the mood takes me. It may not be anything new, but The Sims 4 in 2020 is definitely alive and kicking”.

The Grunge Revival and Book Nook kits are coming to PC and consoles on June 1st.

Respawn is a very busy developer right now, because right after Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has released, Apex Legends has a new trailer for a major update, as Apex Legends: Arsenal is coming on May 9th.

The latest trailer (below) shows off the new Legend, Ballistic, also known as August Brinkmann. He’s an assault class who happens to be 63 years old, and apparently his style was “wild, reckless, and utterly selfish”, which is how he became the first celebrity in the Thunderdome.

  • New Legend Ballistic: The ultimate competitor of the original Thunderdome Games, new Legend Ballistic has come out of retirement, and with decades of fighting experience, Ballistic’s arsenal is a force to be reckoned with. As far he’s concerned, this old dog has learned all the tricks he needs to teach his foes some manners.
  • World’s Edge is Healing: Time heals all wounds as World’s Edge lava levels have risen and cooled, and construction crews have implemented considerable repairs. Climatizers have changed the landscape with new snowbanks, less volcanic smoke and clearer visibility. Apex Games Museum Players can even explore the history of the Apex Games in the new Apex Games Museum in Fragment East.
  • Weapon Mastery: The new Weapon Mastery system lets Legends flex their proficiency with every weapon in game by earning weapon XP and completing difficult challenges across all modes. Once players progress to specific milestones, they will unlock in-weapon trials. Trial rewards include weapon specific badges, trackers, a Legendary Banner Frame and a Legendary Weapon Pack. Master every weapon in the game to unlock special Weapon Master rewards.
  • Upgraded Firing Range: Good, better, best. Practice makes perfect in the newly-updated and majorly expanded Firing Range. And what will dropping in here improve? Anything you set your mind to. Start your basic training on Core, or try the Duel Pit, Training Grounds, and Agility Course to hone your skills in close quarters, combat and navigation. Experiment with the range’s new buildings, and for the first time, customize the dummies to run, strafe, and give you the fight of your life.
  • High-Caliber Battle Pass Rewards: New weapon skins, character skins, emotes and more are launching alongside Arsenal on May 9.
  • Ranked Updates: Additional details are dropping May 3rd.

The Arsenal update launches on May 9th for all formats (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Origin, Steam).

Electronic Arts has revealed the first flurry of information regarding EA SPORTS FC, with more details to follow this July. EA hopes that the rebranding of their flagship football series will become their platform to “create, innovate and grow new football experiences, connecting hundreds of millions of fans through console, mobile, online and esports products.”

“This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take it into a fan-first future,” said Nick Wlodyka, SVP & GM, EA SPORTS FC. “EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.”

Over the next few days, the EA SPORTS FC brand will start to appear across 100 matches all over the world, including games in the Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and the Premier League. Fans will start to see the new brand identity in the wild for the first time, hailing a new era for the game.

The new brand has taken inspiration from one of the most dominant shapes within the sport. The triangle features everywhere from the isometric angles of the original FIFA game and the triangular polygons that make up every pixel of most of EA’s modern games, to the iconic player symbol that appear above every athlete in every match.

For over 30 years, EA SPORTS has defined interactive football and built a global community of over 150 million players across many platforms. Seldom details have been revealed about the new instalment, however, there will be over 19,000 fully licensed players, 700 teams, and 30 leagues, with the support of over 300 football partners that’ll further expand into arenas for both women’s and grassroots football.

The post Wild Hearts second free content launch has gone live, adds new kemono appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The second free content update for Wild Hearts has launched, adding another new Kemono subspecies to hunt, farm, and take down. In a similar style to Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, EA and Koei Tecmo are supporting Wild Hearts with these regular free content updates that add new monsters, or in the case of Wild Hearts, kemono, to hunt.

This second Wild Hearts update adds new weapons, a Fulgent armour set, and the Grimstalker to chase down. On top of that there is also three new higher difficulty quests, and you can net some new Chat Stamps and Emotes from doing well in them. First up, though, let’s get into the meat of things, with the new kemono, and all the information about it straight from the developer.

Wild Hearts: Grimstalker

A Kemono steeped in mystery, Grimstalker has been spotted on the Natsukodachi Isle. This mighty beast has the ability to manipulate both searing flames and surging seas. Down this prey, and in doing so attain even greater heights as a hunter.

The most striking feature of Grimstalker is the way in which its rage levels affect the elements of nature at its command. Normally, it wields water and waves to hamper its adversaries’ movement. Once enraged, however, it switches to fire, unleashing devastating attacks of molten rock. You’ll want to make use of Elemental Lanterns in order to combat both types of attacks. And don’t let the beast escape unscathed whenever it leaves itself vulnerable!

Elsewhere, the new quests will task you with defeating Ametarasu in Akikure Canyon without dying once, while another is against Kingtusk and Icetusk with only two lives. Then there’s a hunt to beat Mighty Dreadclaw, Pearlbeak, and Lavaback in one go. I don’t know who most of those kemono are, but they sure sound nasty!

Koei Tecmo and EA also confirmed that April will bring another free update on the 6th, with a new “petal-manipulating fox Kemono Murakumo”, as well as yet more new weapons, armour, Karakuri, and more “enhancements and fixes”.

Wild Hearts is out now for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. You can read the latest patch notes, here.

EA Sports has detailed the career mode and features for PGA Tour, coming Friday, April 7th to new-gen consoles, and PC via Epic Games Store.

EA says that EA SPORTS PGA Tour will have the “most in-depth career mode” yet, and has released a trailer (below) that showcases it.

From becoming a major champion to earning a grand slam title, to even winning the FedExCup and more, you’ll be able to experience what it is like to compete each week in golf’s biggest events with Career Mode.

You’ll start your journey by customizing your golfer’s appearance with a variety of visual customizations, equipment options, and swing styles to choose from. You can control your golfer’s swing style by selecting their swing animation, swing tempo, preferred shot shape, and ball trajectory throughout your career. You’ll also be able to customize your club head, shaft, grips, and more so you’ll perform just like you want to on the course. And to make sure you’re looking your best when you’re on the course, you’ll be able to equip yourself with accessories and clothing from a variety of iconic and new-age golf brands.

It seems like there will be a massive career mode, which you can read all about on the official blog. You will be able to purchase club specs from the store to ape your favourite pros, upgrade your attributes (power, accuracy, control, recovery, etc),

We got to have an early look at EA Sports PGA Tour back in January, and Sean felt it looked stunning, saying “Footage of this was shown, and it was confirmed that during such online play you can actually see the other players golfing on the course with you in real time. I cannot wait to take a swing at this one, both on and offline, when it releases in March”.

EA Sports PGA Tour will be released on April 7th.

Respawn, EA, and Lucasfilm Games have revealed story details for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with a brand-new trailer. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 28, the next chapter in Cal Kestis’ story as he battles the Empire looks set to utilise the current generation of hardware, set to deliver the “ultimate cinematic Jedi experience.”

The dark times are closing in as Cal Kestis seeks out a safe haven far from the reach of the Empire. Five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a more mature Cal Kestis must look beyond his lightsaber to find his destiny in the shadow of the Empire. Familiar friends and new allies – Cere Junda (Debra Wilson), Greez Dritus (Daniel Roebuck), Merrin (Tina Ivlev), and the newly introduced mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal) – stand by Cal’s side against the Empire and galaxy’s most ruthless foes. Cal’s quest will take him to new planets and familiar frontiers in the Star Wars galaxy, including Koboh, which is the home of the Bedlam Raiders.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order saw Cal Kestis and the crew of the Mantis travel across the galaxy to fan-favourite locations like Kashyyyk, home of the Wookies, and Dathomir, home of Asajj Ventress, Savage Opress, and Darth Maul. In our review, we said, “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has some remarkable combat, with a decent story that feels more like Rogue One than one of the main Episodes. The ending was a bit of a let down, but the challenges you’ll face (particularly on a higher difficulty) and the amount of exploration to be done make it a game you should certainly play if you’re a fan of Star Wars, the genre, or both.”

The post Battlefield 2042 free on Steam from today until March 16th appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

EA and Dice has announced that Battlefield 2042 will be free for all Steam users from today until March 16th. This comes just after Season 4: Eleventh Hour has just launched, which offered a major revamp of the game.

With Season 4, Battlefield 2042 brought things back to what fans of the series were more used to with the return of the Class System, rather than the setup the game launched with, which didn’t seem to go down well. Now there are four classes: Support, Engineer, Recon, and Assault, which any fan of the series should be instantly familiar with.

The Battlefield 2042 Season 4 update also came with improvements to multiple weapons, balancing changes, enhancements to the audio and visuals, and a reworking of the Breakaway map. Of course the Steam version you can play for free includes all of these changes and the prior seasons of content as well. You can check out the season 4 trailer, below:

We reviewed the game in November 2021, where Mick said “Battlefield 2042 isn’t a bad shooter, but to release in this quarter of this year it really needed to bring its A-game, and it hasn’t done that”. He called out the technical issues, specialists being dull, and content, which it seems has all been addressed since the updates have hit. While he gave it a 6/10 then, saying “It almost doesn’t feel like a complete game. Perhaps it’s because there’s only a few modes, maybe because the cosmetics on offer for each Specialist are so unexciting, maybe it’s because it’s a technical shambles at times”, it may seem that it’s a great time to jump back in and try again?

Battlefield 2042 is out now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, and PS5.

A new trailer has been released for EA Sports PGA Tour, highlighting the game’s meticulously crafted courses and some core gameplay set to feature. As you’ll see in the trailer below, the game looks stunning. EA are using state-of-the-art course mapping technology to provide realistic visuals, employing photogrammetry scanning, drone technology, and survey-grade GPS.

EA Sports PGA Tour will include 28 real-life courses and two fantasy ones, along with 30 unique and immersive experiences to play when it launches on March 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. An official blog post has been released, featuring plenty of details in a deep dive of the courses.

The post details the use of Frostbite, and how they were able to design the courses in game. “Each course is designed in stunning quality with Frostbite, so you can immerse yourself in golf’s finer details more than ever before. And to achieve the most true to life course visuals we meticulously mapped Augusta National, the home of the Masters, and other courses, with state-of-the-art technologies like photogrammetry scanning, drone technology, and survey-grade GPS.

We also led custom LiDAR helicopter flights over each course in the game, scanning at lower altitude with slower speeds to achieve more data-point-density and a higher level of realism than scans from publicly available sources. Using these technologies, which are actually designed to discover underground gold mines and oil reserves, we achieved pin-point accuracy down to the blade of grass for many courses in-game. Each course’s scan has been transferred into EA SPORTS PGA TOUR to be developed and tuned for the most accurate depiction of them possible.”

Wild Hearts is the new boss hunting game from Omega Force, the developer behind the Toukiden series. It takes as many cues from Monster Hunter World as it does from Toukiden, but there’s enough new stuff in here that even veterans of Capcom’s genre-leader might struggle a little. We’ve played a lot of it now, so brush up on the basics with our Wild Hearts Beginner’s Tips.

Wild Hearts Beginner’s Tips 1: Don’t forget to eat

As in the Monster Hunter games, making sure you’re well fed before a hunt can increase various stats and impart special skill bonuses to your hunter. You don’t have to do this at a canteen or even at camp, and can simply scarf down various raw ingredients from your inventory.

However, for best results build a drying rack or two near your starting zone and hang ingredients on it. This uses up a lot of items, but creates much more potent food. It takes the duration of a hunt or two to finish, but it’s essential.

Wild Hearts

2: Upgrade your Tsukumo

These cute little spherical Karakuri constructs are more useful than they look. The first one you find will stick with you. You can name it and change its look based on others you collect when you rest at a campfire, and it will help you in solo fights by healing you, detracting the Kemono, or giving you Karakuri Thread when you run out.

Every one you find will give you an Old Cog, which can be used to upgrade the Tsukumo at a campfire to improve its stats and abilities. Make sure to do this for a more efficient hunting helper.

3: Train smart

Stick a Forge near the training bear in town, and you’ll always be able to easily change weapons while you’re training. It helps if you want to try out something new or refresh yourself on a weapon you haven’t used before.

4: Spend your Kemono Orbs

You’ll gather this currency simply by breaking parts on a Kemono or completing Fishing Guild requests or side jobs. It’s used to upgrade and unlock your Karakuri, but the game doesn’t always tell you when you can. Check in periodically on the skill tree in the game menu to unlock more and maintain effectiveness.

Wild Hearts Beginner's Tips

5: Do Fishing Guild jobs

Once you reach Minato you’ll be introduced to side quests, which appear on the map as scroll symbols. One down by the Dock will let you meet a representative of the Fishing Guild. He’ll offer you a list of challenges similar to the Optional Side Quests in Monster Hunter Rise. Each rewards you with favour that builds towards tiers, and unlocking tiers rewards you with materials, money, and items. It’s well worth always keeping 5 of these live, and when you clear the list he’ll repopulate it.

Wild Hearts Beginner’s Tips 6: Don’t skip side quests

As mentioned, the scroll symbols on the town map signify side quests. These are often multi-part quest lines that reward you with rare materials, new Karakuri schematics, or even just allow you to grind on Kemono. More than this though, they often reveal backstory for the NPC townsfolk you’ll be spending time with.

7: Don’t work too hard

One very useful Dragon Karakuri you can unlock actually goes out fishing for you. Place this device in water, and let it run. Revisit it every now and then and it’ll be full of fish for you to dry, pickle or ferment in one of your other Dragon Karakuri. Or you can just eat them, of course. Fish often impart Water resilience, which come in handy for certain Kemono.

You can also build a shrine which lets your Tsukumo go out foraging for you, and they’ll bring back food, metal, stone and lumber to help you upgrade your gear.

Wild Hearts Beginner's

8: Spread Hunting Towers

In order to find Kemono on the map, you’ll want to install Hunting Towers to cover large areas of the wilderness. You’ll need to build up your Dragon Pits to construct more, but ideally you’ll want 3 or 4 installed across a given area to overlap coverage and give your Kemono nowhere to hide.

9. Know your i-frames

Kemono hitboxes in Wild Hearts can be somewhat unpredictable. Some Kemono can outright track you as they attack, making them very hard to dodge, and follow up combos can wipe you out. Dodge rolling is an effective way to evade contact, while using Karakuri Springs and Crates and the Celestial Anchor later on help you move fast

But if you want to avoid taking damage altogether, the best move by far is the slide. If you press B or Circle with your weapon sheathed while sprinting, you’ll slide instead of rolling. This has incredible i-frames, which is essentially a window of pure invincibility where you are impervious to attack. The right timing will save your life over and over. It’s worth noting that the Spring also has i-frames, but it’s not as easy or effective as the slide.

Wild Hearts Beginner’s Tips 10. Keep pets

You’ll have noticed a great deal of endemic life while running around Wild Hearts’ various biomes. At first you might wonder what a Berrybright Squirrel or Cheery Bug even does. Well, catch at least one of everything.

Later on in the game you’ll be able to make Karakuri cages to keep pets in. After every hunt, they’ll let you take something from them such as a feather, piece of shell, or lock of hair. These reagents are super useful for upgrading armour and weapons. Ideally build a few cages in Minato where there’s no Dragon Pit cost and revisit them after every hunt.

Wild Hearts Beginner's Tips

11: Check whether to pet or Slay

As you run around the map you’ll notice an absolute abundance of things to collect. Some are edible, like plants and fish, others are for crafting like lumber, ore, and stone. Gather as much as you can see, and stock up at every opportunity.

It’s not only what you can pick or mine, though. Most of the less hostile small Kemono can be approached in the wilderness if you crouch and go slowly. You’ll then get the option to pet them or slay them. While both are easy, petting often guarantees that the rarer item drops. So be nice.

Wild Hearts Beginner’s Tips 12: Use your Hunter’s Arm

You’ll notice as you hit Kemono, you knock chunks of their flesh or armour off, to reveal bright blue, glowing patches. These are Weaknesses, and you will want to exploit them.

You do this by grabbing the monster using the right bumper, and climbing to the Weakness. Once there, you’ll get a prompt to hold the left trigger and use your Hunter’s Arm. This allows you to pull Karakuri Thread out of the Kemono, which can give you up to twice as much Thread as you can usually carry for a brief period.

This is also the best way to farm Talisman’s from Kemono. Using Hunter’s Arm massively increases your chance of dropping a Talisman when the Kemono is slain.

Sapscourge is one of the earlier kemono that you’ll fight in Wild Hearts. Like all kemono, they have a unique set of attacks and patterns you’ll need to learn to overcome it. But here at God is a Geek, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know to take down Sapscourge in Wild Hearts.

Strategy

The Sapscourge will likely be the second kemono you face after Ragetail. This enemy a long worm-shaped foe that can move surprisingly quickly and pack quite a punch. The best way to manage this fight is to learn the enemy’s moves and be ready to dodge. At this early stage in Wild Hearts, the Sapscourge can easily kill you in a couple of hits, so keeping out of its way and healing is key.

You’ll learn about creating the spring Karakuri during this fight and it can be great to have a few of these around the area you are fighting to help you escape an attack. The safest place to do damage to Sapscourge is his tail, as most of his attacks are front-facing, but still, be wary of him moving backwards and hitting you. Do enough damage to the tail area and it can actually be cut off.

You’ll notice the head is the enemy’s weak point, but this is a dangerous place to position yourself in general as you’ll likely get hit a lot. Instead, aim for the head when the kemono is stunned or down for maximum damage. Also when attacking from above, whilst using the crate Karakuri, try to aim for the head for additional damage.

The raged version of Sapscourge introduces more of the enemy’s sap attacks. Wherever possible try and avoid this by dodging or using a spring, as getting covered in it causes you to slow down considerably, leaving you vulnerable. Generally speaking keep mobile, and avoid the large lunge attacks from Sapscourge and you’ll be fine, just keep hitting him where you can and it will fall relatively quickly.

The post Wild Hearts | Tsukumo Guide appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

In Wild Hearts, you’ll notice scattered throughout the landscape are little Tsukumo, tiny mechanical creatures of unknown origin. Without proper explanation it is unclear what the function of these little critters is, and how to get the most out of them. Well, here at God is a Geek, we’ve uncovered everything you need to know about Tsukumo in Wild Hearts.

Wild Hearts | What are Tsukumo?

Tsukumo are little mechanical creatures you can find throughout each area of Azuma. There are many to find, but one of them will accompany you on your journey to hunt Kemono. Whilst you are in single-player mode, the Tsukumo will act as your companion in battle, assisting you throughout to help you topple your foe.

How many Tsukumo are there?

There are five main areas in Azuma, and 50 Tsukumo to find in each area. That makes for a total of 250 to find. That may sound like a lot – and it is – but don’t worry you don’t need to find them all to succeed in Wild Hearts, but the more you do, the more assistance you will unlock in battle, when playing solo.

Why should I look out for Tsukumo?

The Tsukumo themselves that you find aren’t don’t make the difference in a fight. However, when you find a new Tsukumo, you will also locate an Old Cog. This is the real treasure as these can then be used to upgrade the Tsukumo that will join you in your fights.

How do I upgrade my Tsukumo?

To upgrade your Tsukumo you need to construct a Campfire – it’s one of the Dragon Karakuri. At the Campfire, amongst other things you can upgrade your Tsukumo using Old Cogs. You can upgrade the Tsukumo in four areas:

  • Attack Form – boosts the attack power of the Tsukumo
  • Defense Form – boosts the defense of the Tsukumo
  • Assist Form – boosts the revival speed when the Tsukumo is dead, as well as its healing capabilities
  • Threader Form – boosts the speed in which the Tsukumo will provide you with more Karakuri Thread

As you upgrade each form, they increase in level. And each further upgrade in that area requires more and more Old Cogs.

Which Tsukumo upgrades should I choose?

Our preference is to always go for upgrading Assist Form as a priority as it means the Tsukumo is alive more of the time to help you and it greatly increases its ability to heal you, which is always great in a pinch. After that, prioritise Threader Form so that your Tsukumo is keeping you topped up with Karakuri Threads so you can keep topped up in battle and use Karakuri whenever needed.

Attack and Defense are less important. However, the other benefit of upgrading your Tsukumo is that every few upgrades, the amount of Karakuri Thread you can hold increases by one. This is always useful, as it gives you more options as you play. As such sometimes it is worth upgrading Attack or Defense if you need one more upgrade to reach a new Karakuri Thread level.

If you’re a Monster Hunter fan who has played any other monster hunting game you’re probably already wary of Wild Hearts. Of the few offerings, Dauntless might be the closest thing to a real pretender to Capcom’s wild throne. While Dauntless has more of an MMO feel, it’s a game aimed squarely at the same fanbase. Wild Hearts is similar, but where Dauntless walks the “Games as a Service” road, Omega Force’s game does not. It has positioned itself right alongside World and Rise, and fans may well leap to defend Capcom’s legendary franchise – but they don’t need to. Wild Hearts isn’t saying “I’m better, play me instead.” It’s saying “I’m different, play me as well.”

The similarities between the franchises are strong. Wild Hearts borrows many elements from the older series. There’s eating before or during hunts, claiming body parts and reagents from slain beasts to fashion new armour and weapons. There’s even a story about the monsters being stirred up by some malevolent unknown force.

Wild Hearts preview 1

But this is a template only, one that Capcom has proven works perfectly as a framework for the outer cladding of bringing down the beasts. That’s the real selling point here, and in this respect Wild Hearts sets out its stall very early on.

The monsters, known as Kemono, are too powerful for any one human to defeat. Hunters must face the beats in groups and rarely survive. Your mysterious hunter has arrived in Azuma to seek out Kemono for reasons you get to choose during character creation. Maybe you came for money, glory, or research. It’s up to you, and these choices affect dialogue later on.

To fight Kemono alone, you’re given a Karakuri Seed, the last remnant of an ancient technology that once allowed Hunters to control the spread and migrations of these dangerous beasts. And it’s this item that completely transforms Wild Hearts. Without it, it’s already a serviceable boss-hunting game; with it, it becomes a unique, exhilarating experience.

WH preview

Mapped to the left shoulder button and assorted face buttons, the Karakuri are summoned instantly and immediately change the battlefield. Summon Crates to swan dive onto the enemy from above, springboards to catapult yourself out of danger or across gaps, and bulwarks to halt a charging Kemono in its tracks. Or maybe use Karakuri Thread to build a Forge in your camp, or a device that catches fish for you. Even outside of combat, it’s a game-changing mechanic.

It’s enough to set Wild Hearts apart. It’s far more than just a gimmick; it’s an integral part of the experience that works dynamically with any of the weapons you choose. There are 8 weapon archetypes, with scores of upgrade paths to choose from – if you have the materials. With the Karakuri, you’ll stand a chance of earning them.

Without playing it yourself it’s hard to explain just how intuitive and satisfying it is to use the right Karakuri at the right moment. There’s an incredible flow to each fight, a pace that rarely lets up, even if you are battling the camera as much as the Kemono now and then. If any game needs an FoV slider, it’s Wild Hearts.

Wild Hearts preview 3

Anyone worried that Wild Hearts looks too much like Monster Hunter will be surprised when it launches. Yes, it shares DNA and it has a similar feudal Japanese setting to some of the Monster Hunter games, but the mechanics of each hunt feel different. It’s a faster game, and the Karakuri adds a tactical element you might not be expecting. It’s Nioh to Monster Hunter’s Dark Souls, and there’s more than enough room for both to exist.

Wild Hearts will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S and X on February 17, 2023. We will bring you a full-scored review closer to launch.

Wild Hearts from Koei Tecmo is a unique take on the monster-hunting genre, mainly due to its inclusion of the mysterious Karakuri and how they can be used not only to get around Azuma but also help in taking down the vicious kemono that you will hunt.

Wild Hearts Karakuri Guide

What are Karakuri?

Karakuri are an ancient technology that has sat dormant for years. They are wooden structures imbued with magical properties. Seemingly the knowledge of how to use these Karakuri has been lost over time but you are the last hunter able to wield them. They will help you navigate the world of Azuma with ease. Additionally they can also give you the edge in your ongoing battle against the various kemono you will encounter along your journey.

What types of Karakuri are there?

There are three main types of Karakuri that you will use on your adventure. They are:

  • Basic Karakuri – Helpful tools that assist you in exploring hunting areas
and fighting Kemono. They require Celestial Thread to build.
  • Fusion Karakuri – Combinations of Basic Karakuri that offer protection or increased damage.
  • Dragon Karakuri – Weapons and devices with special characteristics,
but draw on Dragon Pit energy to build.

Basic Karakuri

Basic Karakuri are simple tools that can assist you whilst you are exploring the areas of Azuma. They include the Crate which can be used to reach higher levels, the Spring which you can bounce off for rapid movement, and the Torch to light up an area or add fire to your weapon to take down pesky vines.

However, Basic Karakuri can also help in your fight against the Kemono. Crates can be stacked and climbed to help attack an enemy from above – often a great start to a fight. Also, Torches can imbue your weapon with fire, which is particularly handy when you’re facing a foe weak to that element.

Fusion Karakuri

These special Karakuri are created when a combination of Basic Karakuri are placed together. They fuse together to create something altogether more useful. You can only use Fusion Karakuri once you have unlocked them, mostly during battles with Kemono. In certain situations, you will encounter a Fusion Flash even, which slows time and tells you a specific combination of Basic Karakuri to use to create something new. The first of these is the Bulwark you can unlock whilst fighting Kingtusk. Placing six crates together will unlock the Bulwark Fusion Karakuri, which can stop the Kingtusk charging. Once unlocked, Fusion Karakuri can be used at any point.

Dragon Karakuri

These special Karakuri draw on Dragon Pit energy from the area you place them in. There are plenty to unlock and each have specific characteristics. You can create Tents to rest at and they act as Fast Travel points on the map. You can unlock a Forge to upgrade your gear on the fly, and even a Campfire to manage your hunts and the mysterious Tsukumo.

Each Dragon Karakuri has an element associated to it and a cost to build. In order to build it you must have enough of that element available across all your unlocked Dragon Pits. Find and unlock more Dragon Pits across each area in Azuma to give yourself more options.

Can you upgrade your Karakuri?

You can, and unlock additional Dragon Karakuri as well, to customise your experience. In the main menu, scroll along to the Karakuri page. Here you will find an enormous Skill Tree-type mechanic linked completely to Karakuri. Using Kemono Orbs which you get from defeating kemono and breaking their parts, you can invest in upgrades to existing Karakuri or even completely new ones to try out and enhance your adventure.

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHICH KARAKURI YOU SHOULD UNLOCK FIRST IN WILD HEARTS

Anything else?

The best thing to do with Karakuri is to experiment. Wild Hearts is a game all about discovery, with plenty of ways to help you tackle its trickier challenges. Unlock a new Karakuri and try it out, often it’ll be a new way to help you find new secrets or a way to bolster your stats, or evade a kemono. See what works for you and share your tips and tricks with your fellow hunters.

Spineglider’s outward appearance doesn’t exactly instill fear. It’s one of the smallest Kemono in Wild Hearts, and resembles some kind of water-based squirrel. However, don’t let appearances decieve: it’s a quick little sod that can hit pretty hard when it wants to. But here at Godisageek, we’ve got everything you need to take down Spineglider in Wild Hearts.

Strategy

Wild Hearts Spineglider

The Spineglider is very fast, and will come at you primarily with frontal attacks. Its tail can fill up with water, which it uses to “grow” a gnarled branch out of the ground. It will climb this branch and then leap into the air, spreading its four legs to glide at you and deliver a powerful attack. Sometimes, it will instead pelt you a pair of huge seeds – or become a mini bomber and hit you with a whole volley of the things.

The trick to beating Spineglider is to always keep your eyes on it, and move with it. If you stand still for too long it will dance rings around you, striking at you with swift sprays of water or horn-butts. Now and then it will launch itself at you, spinning towards you like a propellar – an attack that becomes much more devastating when it’s enraged.

Spineglider is surprisingly strong, too, and its large tail can easily knock you down or stagger you with successive hits. That being said, it’s not a hugely challenging fight. It’s weak to most attack types and ailments, so use any weapon you feel comfortable with. Keep some distance and don’t let it out of your sight, and you’ll soon take it down. The Karakuri Mallet is your friend here, too: it will obliterate the Spineglider’s perch with one hit.

Even when Enraged, it doesn’t become too dangerous. It will occasionally fill its tail up and perform a series of ground slams that can do massive damage if it catches you, so once you see it winding up the attack, get some distance and prepare to punish the little bugger when it stops.

The post Wild Hearts | Best Karakuri Upgrades appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As you progress through Wild Hearts, you’ll want to pay attention to attention to your Karakuri and which upgrades you can get for them. There are plenty to choose from and most of them are useful to further enhance your playstyle. However, some are better than others, and here at God is a Geek we’ve summarised the best Karakuri upgrades in Wild Hearts, and therefore the ones you should consider getting as soon as possible.

Wild Hearts | How to get Karakuri Upgrades

The first thing you’ll need to understand is where to go to upgrade your Karakuri. First, head to the main menu, and scroll right until you get to the Karakuri section. You’ll notice a big vertical Skill Tree that you can navigate your way down and unlock various upgrades. Here you can select different upgrades, as long as you have gotten previous upgrades in the tree.

What do I use to upgrade Karakuri?

To upgrade Karakuri you need Kemono Orbs. These are obtained in two ways. The first and most obvious way is by defeating Kemono. You are rewarded at the end of the battle with a number of Kemono Orbs. The more difficult the Kemono you felled, the more orbs you obtained. However many times your carted (died) during the fight also impacts your Orb reward. Carting once reduces your reward by one-third, and carting twice reduces it by two-thirds. So it’s better to stay alive to maximise your Kemono Orbs.

The other way to obtain Kemono Orbs is by breaking parts during a Kemono fight. You’ll be rewarded with a few Orbs upon breaking the part, but this wounding process will also cause Orbs to scatter on the ground, which look like small blue beads of light. Collect them to top up your Kemono Orb total.

Each Karakuri upgrade costs a certain number of Orbs to unlock.

Why can’t I access certain Karakuri upgrades?

Some upgrades in the Karakuri upgrade tree are actually Fusion Karakuri. To unlock these you need to have observed the corresponding Fusion Flash in a certain fight. If the image is a Question Mark, then you haven’t encountered the Kemono yet. If it shows the image of a Kemono, then you need to replay that fight and try and witness the Fusion Flash to unlock it.

For more information on Fusion Karakuri, check out our main Karakuri Guide here.

Wild Hearts | Best Karakuri Upgrades

We will now list the best Karakuri upgrades to get you started in Wild Hearts

Water Toter

There are a few of these throughout the Karakuri Skill tree, and it’s recommended to get them as you unlock and can afford them. Each one increases the number of Healing Water you can hold by one. This means you have more healing capability during battle, and you can make more use of the numerous Healing Water Flowers scattered across the landscape to keep yourself topped up. An absolute must.

Hunting Tower: Expansion

One of the most useful early Dragon Karakuri you will use is the Hunting Tower as it allows you to find Kemono in the area as well as other points of interest. Getting this upgrade expands the range of each Tower meaning you’re more likely to find the Kemono in range of a tower, and you won’t need to flood the map with lots of Hunting Towers to find what you need.

Wind Vortex

An optional Dragon Karakuri, but one that gives a unique traversal option when exploring. It is basically a large air vent that allows you to fly high up into the air and reach otherwise unreachable areas. Great for giving you options to explore your surroundings quickly and getting to places a Flying Vine simply can’t reach. You can also combine this with a Glider Karakuri (just walk onto the Wind Vortex with one) to go flying into the air, and then Glide to new areas.

Ingredients Chest

Whilst it may not seem it at the start, before long with everything you will pick up, your ingredient pouch will get full. As such you won’t be able to pick up any more varieties of food. A great way to combat this is to use and Ingredients Chest to store your ingredients for later. Popping these in camps next to a Tent allows you to Fast Travel to them with ease and take out what you need as and when, giving you greater flexibility when cooking or eating ahead of a hunt.

Paddle Scoop

This Karakuri can be placed in water to catch fish. You can leave it to work and it will automatically go out fish whilst you are off doing other things. It makes amassing ingredients much more efficient. You can use them as part of your cooking or simply sell them for extra gold. Either way it means you can spend your time hunting kemono, rather than gathering fish.

Tsukumo Ore Shrine

The Tsukumo Ore Shrine works in a similar way to the Paddle Scoop, except this one needs to be placed on land and focusses on gathering ore. Whilst you’re away your obedient Tsukumo will gather ore for you and leave it for you to collect at the shrine. Be mindful to return regularly to check on their progress and take what they have gathered to stop it being at max capacity and no longer working for you.

Hunting Tower: Deep Probe

This upgrade to the Hunting Tower gives them the additional functionality of locating nearby Tsukumo and documents. This can make the hunt for them significantly easier, and allow you to grab them with ease. Definitely, one to work towards as you progress through the Karakuri Skill Tree.

Looking Glass

For those of you who want to change the look of your hunter after the initial configuration, the Looking Glass is for you. It can only be used in Minato, but it allows you to alter how you look and even allows you to change your hunter name too.

Strategy

The Kingtusk is a powerful kemono that likes to use its large tusks and bulky frame to do you serious harm. Most of its attack involve charging at you or flailing its body at you in some way. Stand too close and it will trample you, be in front of it at it will swing it’s mighty tusks at you, and then if you’re behind it, the tail can swipe at you. Also at range, Kingtusk can throw rocks at you, launch its whole body at you in a spinning motion, or even charge full pelt into you. It can be quite intimidating.

Luckily there are a few tips and tricks to make this fight much easier. By far the best place to go is behind Kingtusk. From here you can attack its vine-like tail where it is weak. Just make sure you aren’t equipping a water-based weapon, raw damage at this point in your adventure is best. From behind Kingtusk the only two attacks you need to worry about are its tail swipe, which it will do twice before the tail returns to position and can be hit again. The other attack is a trample attack that Kingtusk will do whilst stepping back to try and catch you out. Be on the lookout for Kingtusk trying to turn, and position yourself behind him whenever you can.

Sometimes, however, Kingtusk will put some distance between you. One of his moves at this point will be to charge at you. You know this is coming, when he scrapes his hooves on the ground to charge up. After a while, you should get the Fusion Karakuri slow-mo event to create a Bulwark. This is done by putting six crates in two stacks of three next to each other. Doing so whilst the Kingtusk is preparing to charge and then position yourself behind it and the Kingtusk will crash into it, causing him to fly backwards, and be toppled for a few moments. Here’s your chance to get some more hits on the tail (which can eventually be cut) or the head, as this is his most vulnerable area (note, not the tusk, the actual head).

This strategy of keeping behind him and using Bulwarks still works well when Kingtusk is in rage form. He now has a Aoe attack which you should distance yourself from to avoid, and he will become quicker and more aggressive, but he still can’t deal much against this strategy. You can always also use 3 crates for height and wail on him from above to mix up your attacks.

The post Wild Hearts | How to find all the Documents appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Documents are one of the collectibles in Wild Hearts, and one of the most interesting. They offer up additional lore about the world of Azuma as well as more granular looks at other aspects such as the mysterious Karakuri. But it can prove difficult to find them all. However, here at God is a Geek, we’ve pulled together a guide so you can find all the Documents with ease.

Wild Hearts | How to find all the Documents

Rather than having to worry about finding all the Documents on your own, Wild Hearts implements a system to help you find them on your own. However you need to do a few things to help yourself first, and then finding them should be a doddle.

1. Explore the area

It might sound counter-intuitive but for this method to work you’re going to need the map discovered. The map in Wild Hearts has a fog that is only lifted if you’ve explored near the area. This will naturally lift, particularly in the early areas, as you explore and hunt monsters. But if you notice areas you can see are still misted out, try and visit near them until it all appears on the map.

2. Get the Hunter Tower: Expansion upgrade

In the Karakuri Skill Tree, you’re going to want to firstly prioritise unlocking the Hunter Tower: Expansion upgrade. This will increase the circular range of every Hunter Tower you place in an area, which will be critical for the next few steps.

3. Place your Hunter Towers carefully

At the beginning of the game, you’ll likely just be experimenting with Dragon Karakuri and not really considering where you put things. However, to help you find collectibles, you’re going to need to be a bit more thoughtful. Each Hunter Tower has a circular radius, and you’re going to want to make sure that every part of the map is covered by a Hunter Tower. You should have all the fog cleared to see where you need to cover. Once your towers are placed, every part of the map should be covered by them.

4. Get the Hunter Tower: Deep Probe upgrade

The key upgrade here for the Hunter Tower is the Deep Probe upgrade. It will highlight all collectibles on the map that are covered by a Hunter Tower. And given we have set up our Hunter Towers to cover the whole map, this means all the collectibles will become visible on the map.

5. Activate the Hunter Towers

The collectibles will only be visible on the map once you’ve activated a Hunter Tower. Activating one, activates them all so just head for the most convenient one and activate it.

6. Head for the “?” icons to find the collectibles

Now all the collectibles will be displayed as a “?” on the screen. These icons could either be a Tsukumo, a Document, or a rare Talisman. Sometimes the collectibles are at ground level, whereas others will be higher up. So when you’re in the spot of a “?” icon, always consider that it could be above or below you if you don’t spot it right away.

With this method, you should easily be able to find all the Documents in every area of Wild Hearts.

Tsukumo are one of the collectibles in Wild Hearts, and perhaps the most important of all of them. Collecting them rewards you with Old Cogs which you can use to enhance the Tsukumo who follows you into battle when you play solo. As such finding more Tsukumo is important to your survival. But with 250 of them to collect, it can prove difficult to find them all. However, here at God is a Geek, we’ve pulled together a guide so you can find all the Tsukumo with ease.

Ragetail is the first main kemono that you’ll fight in Wild Hearts. Like all kemono, they have a unique set of attacks and patterns you’ll need to learn to overcome it. But here at God is a Geek, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know to take down Ragetail in Wild Hearts.

Strategy

Being the first kemono you encounter properly outside the Prologue, the Ragetail isn’t designed to need a build strategy. It introduces you to kemono and how to get by in Wild Hearts. In this fight, you’ll need to get used to watching enemy movements and dodging their movesets. The Ragetail likes swiping at you from the front and also swiping at you with its plum tail. You can also be hit by it slamming its plum from the front too, so be careful. The safest place generally is at the side where you can focus your attacks.

This is also a fight where you should focus on getting to grips with your new Karakuri. Make sure you’re placing crates and piling them three high ideally. You can then run at them, climb to the top and launch off at the Ragetail from above, doing some great damage to the unsuspecting kemono. Whilst the head is technically the weakest part of the kemono, there isn’t much difference, so focus on getting hits in whenever you can. Some of the best material for crafting comes from severing the plum on its tail; luckily the Ragetail hammers the ground a lot, leaving the tail open to attacks. You’ll know you’re doing damage when parts of the tail come off prior to its actual removal.

As with all fights, don’t be afraid to heal regularly, especially if you get down to half health or below, as you don’t want to be killed. You can always look around the area for more healing flowers too. After a while the Ragetail will run to a new area, so use your Hunter’s Vision to track and follow them.

When the Ragetail hits rage form he will turn red and become more aggressive. Here the best strategy is to keep your distance to let him do his aggressive moves and then go in for attacks when he’s finished them. Keep hitting the kemono, dodging his attacks and using your Karakuri and this beast should fall.

Apex Legends season 16 is giving players everything they could want | Hands-on preview https://www.godisageek.com/2023/02/apex-legends-revelry-season-16-preview/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 16:00:31 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=273304 Revel in the goodness.

The post Apex Legends season 16 is giving players everything they could want | Hands-on preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Apex Legends season 16 is the gift of all that the community could want from the franchise. A revamp of the meta, a new weapon, an introduction of class-based perks, and more. Season 16, aka “Revelry”, seeks to bring to the game many balance updates and a fresh new experience.

The first of many things to pick apart is the new class-like listing of characters and their perks. There are five legend classes in the upcoming season and they are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, and Support. For example; the Skirmisher class, containing legends like Wraith and Octane, tends to list those legends that have the ability to initiate and dip in and out of fights.

Legends within the Skirmisher class have the perk of being able to see care packages earlier, even seeing the weapon inside, providing that it does in fact contain one. This can really aid your team in terms of positioning and obtaining the most powerful weapons in the game. The Assault class contains those like Ash and Bangalore, with the primary goal of providing combat benefits and utility for within fights. For example: Bangalore’s smoke can provide an escape just as long as the team you are fighting does not have a digital threat to see through it.

Apex Legends season 16 classes

Just as with the other classes, the Assault class has a perk: being able to open the new hidden compartment of supply bins. These hidden compartments use the smart loot system introduced which was brought in with season 13’s IMC Armories on Storm Point. This allows for you to obtain better loot tailored to you and your squad. In addition, those within the Assault class can hold an extra stack of ammo.

This is an incredible incentive to play (or have somebody in your squad playing) an Assault Legend, as it can be rewarded by having the upper hand early game with better loot and attachments that you may otherwise not likely find. The Recon Legends are those concerned with obtaining intel, for example Legends with scans. Bloodhound, Seer, Crypto and Vantage. In terms of perks, the Recon characters actually no longer have the ability to scan for ring data, but instead can reveal enemy locations on the map and pinpoint the location they were near for 30 seconds.

Apex Legends

There is a drawback, though. Those nearby to the scan can see the location they were scanned from. As the ability to see ring data was removed, it was given to another Class: the Controller class. These Legends generally have the role of area setup and area control. This would be those like Caustic and Catalyst. Along with their good area denial and control skill sets, the addition of being able to gain ring data only makes sense making these Legends excellent for close quarter late game scenarios.

Finally, the support class (whilst having the traditional role and goal of “team survival and supplying healing items”) is improved through its newly introduced perk. The support perk allows all Legends under the class to open the secret compartment of blue bins which now contain high value healing and survival items. In addition they can craft teammate banners from being fully eliminated during the game, regardless of whether the banner is timed out or not. The idea of perks is really nice to see, bringing an extra dynamic to Apex Legends and giving all Legends a fair chance at being playable.

Looking at more changes to the Legends, there are many changes and attempts to impact and change the scan meta. The idea was to reduce the scan level and strength of both Seer and Bloodhound. Seer has had his Ultimate duration reduced and can no longer spam the heartbeat monitor as much as before. In addition the heartbeat monitor is audible to nearby enemies. For Bloodhound, their ultimate has actually been changed. It no longer refreshes his abilities but now white ravens will be around the map leading you to enemies which seems like a large change but perhaps a welcome one as it may stray people from the scan meta.

season 16 is giving players everything they could want | Hands-on preview

Other legends have received a tweak to their kit too. Wraith has had her teleport distance doubled, and it is faster which allows for further and quicker escapes. Pathfinder has had his zipline speed increased so he is less of a sitting duck when using it, and this might give Pathfinder a little bit more survivability while using his kit. Mirage has received some very notable buffs too. When you shoot one of his clones you will now be punished through being tracked for a short period of time.

Perhaps most notable though, is that after resurrecting somebody as Mirage both you and your ally will remain cloaked as long as you do not unholster a weapon. This can allow for some getaways which may otherwise not be possible and can as a result, prepare for a re-engage or just plain run from the fight. Lifeline too, has received some care, obviously as the support perk contains one of her old niches to be played. The slowing penalty when reviving has been reduced and the speed for her care package has received a drop speed increase.

Apex Legends skins

Now for weapon changes. The rampage has been removed from care packages in place of the hemlock. I am not usually a fan of the hemlock but I was left presently surprised when testing and it felt much better than usual. The gold shotgun bolt is also a new addition. It automatically reloads the weapon and is in essence the kinetic feeder but just better. Shotguns have received more love from the balance team and stocks have been added to the mastiff and peacekeeper to tighten bullet spread, hopefully hitting less low damage rolls due to projectile spread as a result.

Assault Rifles have received a nerf to their hip-fire as they had become more of a hybrid between mid-range and close-range when designed to be mid range royalty. The R301 has been given an additional nerf also, having damage reduced from 14 per bullet to 13.

season 16 is giving players everything they could want | Hands-on preview

There is also a new weapon in Apex Legends season 16, though, and it far surpasses the previously mentioned R301. The name is Nemesis. It is a burst AR firing 4 bursts per input. It also has a charge mechanic which when reaching 100, pretty much fires as a full-auto AR. Even as a concept it sounds great but its damage is incredible, at 17 damage per bullet it shreds anything you successfully hit and at a huge lack of recoil. I tested the recoil extensively and even with the weapon at stock with exception to a 4x scope, the recoil felt very easy to control and should be treated with respect.

There’s some good news in the form of game modes and some changes too. Team Deathmatch is back. A 6v6, high octane shootout fest. Maps such as Skulltown and Party Crasher are involved. TDM is returning inside of a game mode called Mixtape which is said to contain changes within it but TDM might be a mainstay. Furthermore, ranked is changing a little bit, rather than having maps per split, maps will rotate every 24 hours, and in season 16 maps available in ranked will be Broken Moon, Storm Point and Worlds Edge. Competitive splits, and resets will still exist so don’t be alarmed about that.

I believe that Apex Legends season 16 is the amalgamation of listening to the community and putting in place changes that should, or have the goal of adhering to the player base wants. The meta changes moving from the scan meta and whilst there is no new legend this upcoming season, there are more than enough changes to get excited about.

Apex Legends: Revelry is set to release February 14th on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

The post Star Wars Jedi: Survivor delayed to April 28th appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Respawn and EA have announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now be released a bit later, in order to fix bugs and make it better.

Announced tweeted:

, the statement reads as follows:

For the last three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say the next chapter in the tale of Cal Kestis is content complete. We are now focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience.

Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.

In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th.

Thanks to EA and Respawn for giving us the time to deliver the best experience for our players, and to all of you for understanding.

May the Force be with you.

Stig, and the Star Wars Jedi Team

Six weeks isn’t an enormous amount of time to add to a development cycle, but given that the game is content complete as of now, that does give them months to improve and bug fix for the game. Originally planned for March 17th, the new release date is April 28th, where the game will come to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

March is a stacked month anyway, so it doesn’t seem like a bad thing to give people a bit longer to clear that backlog.

The post Apex Legends Mobile shutting down in May appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

EA and Respawn Entertainment has announced that Apex Legends Mobile will be closing on May 1st, 2023 at 4pm PDT (Midnight UK time) due to “factors beyond our control”.

The statement made tweeted:

can be found below:

We have made the painful decision to sunset Apex Legends Mobile.

This decision does not come with ease. Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve.

As a result, the game will sunset on May 1, 2023 at 4pm PDT after which it will no longer be playable.

Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

The mobile version of Apex Legends even won a Game of the Year award from Apple for 2022, but it seems there’s 90 days left to play it before it’s gone for good.

On the official blog, there was a more detailed statement, as follows:

At Respawn, we aim to provide players with games that are consistently outstanding. Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game. Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players.

Respawn and the Apex Legends team remain excited about mobile as a platform and look forward to new opportunities to serve players there in the future.

In terms of what players can expect from here, today marks the beginning of a ninety (90) day window before we sunset the game. As of 1 PM PST today, January 31st, we will be disabling all real money in app purchases in the game as well as removing the game from webstores. During this period, players can spend their existing Syndicate Gold and continue playing the full game. At 4 PM PDT on May 1st, 2023, we will cease operations in all regions, and the game will no longer be playable.

We understand there will be many questions surrounding this decision and want to assure our players that we are here to help. Below you will find a list of questions and answers that will help clarify next steps. For questions that are not answered below or additional support, please click here.

Our love for the Apex universe and our players remains unchanged. We look forward to exploring this universe, its characters, and its stories along with you. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support and patience as we navigate these next steps.

EA says that it “will not be providing refunds for real money purchases, per the terms of the EA User Agreement”, and the “Mobile Web Store will no longer be accessible, and all game content sales on third-party web stores will no longer be available”.

When and how do I access my Dead Space suits?

Dead Space How to get your deluxe edition suits

Around an hour or so into the game you’ll find your first shop in the game. And before you can access anything, the game will tell you about the five suits and how they’re in your inventory. To equip them, access the store and hit R1 twice to go to your storage, whereby all five suits will be there to allow you to pick them.

What do the suits actually do?

This is the part where, if we were talking to you in person, we’d take a sharp intake of breath. You see, the suits don’t do anything. They don’t give you a larger inventory as Isaac, instead you’ll still have to purchase that first upgrade to get more suit space for 10,000 credits. No, what they do is make you look nice, or different. In the case of the Infested suit, you’re going to be playing almost looking like a necromorph for most of the game.

Any other bonuses I can get?

If you pre-ordered the game on Steam, you’ll get a copy of Dead Space 2 for free, when the remake of the first game launches on January 27th. That’s about it. Now go and enjoy the fact this remake even exists, hurrah!

Dead Space (2023) is an intense and thrilling game that manages to capture the very essence of the original while bringing in plenty of new features and expanding on ideas that have been fully realised for the current generation of platforms. The enemies are terrifying and the story takes various twists and turns, all coming together to provide a fantastic survival horror. With such, it may be interesting to know just how long it takes to beat Motive’s remake.

Dead Space 2023: how long to beat

While Dead Space is an impressive remake, there aren’t tons of ways to greatly expand on how long it’ll take to beat the main game. There’s little room for freedom, but different areas of the USG Ishimura can be explored, and new rooms will be unlocked when you obtain the correct security clearance. There’re side quests to be completed, but these are often done alongside the story. If you were to play through on the normal difficulty and complete a few of the side missions, you’re looking at around 11 hours to do so. If you were to finish all side missions and explore everywhere, you’re probably looking at closer to 14 hours.

What are the factors that determine how long it takes me?

As mentioned, side missions will take up the majority of your extra time. This will see you venturing between different areas, exploring every single room, and fighting off enemies that wouldn’t have been present had you stayed on the path of the main questline. There’s also a stat tree for every weapon, and new suits can be purchased, so grinding for these to be fully upgraded might be possible in a single playthrough. Dead Space 2023 hasn’t been designed for freedom, but rather a anxious and claustrophobic experience. There is a New Game+ mode that’ll unlock after completion of the story, and with it comes new enemy types to take out and other features that won’t be spoiled for you here.

EA and Koei Tecmo has just put out a new trailer that gives a bit more of an insight into the gameplay of Wild Hearts, due in less than a month. The last we saw of Wild Hearts was in December, with the “ferocious creatures” trailer, but this one really gives us some footage to work with.

This trailer shows one of game’s “most ferocious Kemono – Golden Tempest – in action”, says EA. So let’s check it out:

The footage (captured from a PlayStation 5) really shows off the “Monster Hunter” vibes, and you can even see the usernames on the left which says one hero has been “carted”, a term itself taken from Monster Hunter fans.

The extended gameplay footage showcases a team of hunters battling the Golden Tempest, a giant nature-infused tiger that wields golden wing to protect its territory. As it roars, leaps and whips its tail around the hunting ground, hunters can use the game’s innovative Karakuri crafting technology to adapt their battle plan and attack strategies to successfully defend Azuma.

This one is developed by Omega Force, with directors Kotaro Hirata and Takuto Edagawa at the helm. The developer is best known for the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series of musou titles, but was also behind Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, so has been trusted with huge brands before. As big fans of the genre of game Wild Hearts is entering into, we’re all quite excited at GodisaGeek to find out how it plays, and compares. Fingers crossed it’s a cracker.

Wild Hearts is coming to PC (Steam and Epic Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X on February 17, 2023.

The post AMD is releasing a Ryzen 7000 Series Star Wars Jedi: Survivor bundle appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Ahead of the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, AMD has announced it’s releasing a Ryzen 7000 game bundle, with pre-orders available now. Essentially, if you purchase a Ryzen 7000 series processor, you’ll get access to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and the deal runs from today, up until April 1st. The code included will be redeemable until May 6th, but most will redeem it right away, we’d guess.

The qualifying AMD processors are:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700
  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600

These aren’t cheap processors, but if you’re in the market for a new CPU, there are worse games to get as part of the bundle. The Ryzen 9 series processors go for around £600 depending on the model, while the lower end Ryzen 5 7600 willl set you back about a third of that, at around £200, again, depending on the model and where you buy from.

Powered by the new “Zen 4” architecture, the Ryzen 7000 Series Desktop Processors offer incredible performance for gamers. In addition to delivering a double-digit IPC increase over “Zen 3,” by leveraging the 5nm processor node, the processors provide up to 15% faster gaming performance than the previous generation to deliver unmatched performance in the latest galactic adventure from Respawn Entertainment.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and is again developed by Respawn Entertainment. We reviewed it back in November 2019, where Chris White said “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has some remarkable combat, with a decent story that feels more like Rogue One than one of the main Episodes. The ending was a bit of a let down, but the challenges you’ll face (particularly on a higher difficulty) and the amount of exploration to be done make it a game you should certainly play if you’re a fan of Star Wars, the genre, or both”, and scored it an 8/10.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox on March 16th, 2023.

EA Sports PGA Tour is out this March, and it looks stunning | Hands-off preview https://www.godisageek.com/2023/01/ea-sports-pga-tour-is-out-march-looks-stunning-preview/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 16:00:14 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=272137 Aiming for an Eagle.

The post EA Sports PGA Tour is out this March, and it looks stunning | Hands-off preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

With the sportswashing spectre of LIV casting an unwanted shadow over the sport, the world needs the traditional bastions of golf to stand firm more than ever. Which is why the news of a new EA Sports PGA Tour is particularly well timed. And by jove, it looks like an absolute corker. I attended a briefing during which EA outlined the stunning array of features that we can expect when PGA Tour drops on the 24th March.

The game is, as Producer Ben Ramsour describes, built on four “pillars”.

The first and foremost of this quartet is the inclusion of all fully licenced Majors, plus LPGA events, and a number of other world-renowned tournaments both amateur and pro, including the FedExCup playoffs . Thanks to the incredible presentation, these prestigious tournaments are rendered with all of the pageantry and pomp that they deserve. A stunning trailer, narrated by our very own six-time Major winner Nick Faldo, showed us the legendary St Andrews course in all its virtual glory. Everything from the iconic trophies to the coveted green jacket will be instantly recognisable like an enveloping hug.

EA Sports PGA Tour is out this March, and it looks stunning

Second is the huge list of bucket list golfing venues that will be included in EA Sports PGA Tour. Using the Frostbite engine, and a mind-boggling amount of geo-mapping tech, including helicopters, drones, and actually getting boots on the ground and photographing the courses, the level of detail in each of these courses is sensational. Every single tree has been recreated, including the iconic lone cypress at Pebble Beach. The beautiful azalea flowers at Augusta are rendered in all their glory, right down to recreating the correct hue at certain times of year. The level of immersion promises to give an emotional payoff to your virtual golfing.

In at three is the new Pure Strike system. Using analytics software Shotlink and the golf sim Trackman, as well as analysing actual ball behaviours on real life courses and motion capture of real players, there has never been a more realistic swing experience. There are 20 different types of swing, with 1300 physics profiles that give you virtually unlimited options when taking a shot. The game footage we saw was absolutely mind blowing with ultra-realistic physics, but also gameplay that looks fun and retains enough accessibility to remind us that it is a videogame first and foremost.

EA Sports PGA Tour is out this March, and it looks stunning | Hands-off preview

Having said that, apparently there are some real-life golfers who say that they will actually use EA Sports PGA Tour to practice, such is its commitment to maintaining the physics of real golf. The producers actually sound like they are genuinely enjoying the game immensely, which is a great sign. It left me wanting to have a crack at wielding the analog stick to trigger off some classic Big Hit Moments just as I watched the virtual Scottie Scheffler pull off here. The most telling thing I heard during the Q&A today was how the people behind the game grew up not only loving real life golf, but as kids loved classic golf video games like Mario Golf and the early EA titles. I am willing to bet they have had dalliances with Everybody’s Golf as well.

The final pillar is the immersive RPG style career mode on offer. You can play on a variety of different Amateur tours, or go straight in at Major level should you wish. You can create a player, which can be male, female, or gender neutral, and use in-game XP earned to develop your style and abilities.

EA Sports PGA Tour

What else can we expect? There’s a wide range of licenced golfing gear, including Nike, Callaway, Jordan, and Macklemore’s Bogey Boys. A few examples of these were shown and whilst they are only cosmetic, it is certainly cool to be able to dress your player in all manner of swanky gear. The golfers themselves are incredibly detailed using the powers of the Frostbite engine, with the strand-based hair and accurate representation of muscle definition and movement giving us eerily realistic players. The commentary and on-course reporting sounds dynamic and will include historical references to particular hole and courses. On board are the likes of ex-pro Frank Nobilo, Golf Channel anchor Rich Lerner, and golf legend Notah Begay.

As well as offline modes like Road to the Masters, there is plenty of online stuff to enjoy too – including social modes that match you to players with similar skill levels, seasonal events and tournaments that tie in with real life, leaderboards and the ability to play with up to 16 players at a time. Footage of this was shown, and it was confirmed that during such online play you can actually see the other players golfing on the course with you in real time. I cannot wait to take a swing at this one, both on and offline, when it releases in March.

EA Sports PGA Tour will be released on March 24th.

Motive Studio and EA has released a launch trailer for Dead Space, which showcases Isaac Clarke’s adventure on board the USG Ishimura. To coincide with the trailer’s release, Motive has published its fifth instalment of their ‘Inside Dead Space’ blog series, which discusses the balancing act of “staying true to the original heart of the story and adding their own twists where they can.”

In the post, Motive talk about the story in plenty of detail, including how they already had an incredible story that was already recognisable by many. Fortunately, in remaking Dead Space, the team at Motive™ had the benefit of working from a story that was already pretty great, one based in recognizable and near-universal themes. “You’re descending into Hell to save your beloved,” says Senior Game Writer Jo Berry. “That’s one of the oldest stories there is. But the Dead Space interpretation of that is also very relevant, because it talks about corporate corruption, about spirituality going awry, about division versus reconnection….”

Back in October last year, Motive revealed plenty of interesting details, and the remake will be a blend of old and new ideas coming together to celebrate one of the best survival horrors ever released. In our coverage, we said, ” Dead Space sounds like so much more than just another remake, with new immersion features like a lack of load screens, the peeling system, new voice acting, new areas, new story beats, new UI map controls and an improved locator, and more, Motive has gone all out in crafting a faithful remake, filled to the brim with new features and effects. All I can say is, roll on January when the world gets to experience one of the greatest horror game of all time in a brand new and exciting way.”

Dead Space releases on January 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

EA and Respawn has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a release date of March 17, 2023, continuing Cal’s journey to extinguish the Empire. To coincide with the announcement, a brand new trailer was released at last night’s Game Awards, showing off what fans can expect from the anticipated sequel.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picks up five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as Cal continues to grow as a Jedi and evade the Empire’s constant pursuit. With trusty companion BD-1 by his side, he joins forces with new and old allies to aid him on his quest, including the mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal) and former crew member Cere Junda (Debra Wilson). With new traversal options such as an ascension cable to reach new heights and the ability to tame and ride creatures, Cal has many ways to navigate the perils he will face as he explores both familiar and new worlds across the galaxy.

The trailer looks pretty damn impressive, showing off new skills and the ability to use various creatures to get around. In the description below the video on YouTube, it says the following:

Continue Cal’s Journey – No longer a Padawan, Cal has come into his own and grown into a powerful Jedi Knight. The Dark Times are closing in – with enemies new and familiar surrounding him, Cal will need to decide how far he’s willing to go to save those closest to him.

Go Beyond Your Training – The cinematic combat system returns with additional Force abilities and new lightsaber fighting styles. Creatively leverage all these abilities and weapons to strategically take on an expanded host of enemies, sizing up strengths and weaknesses while cleverly utilizing your training to overcome your opponents and solve the mysteries that lay in your path.

Explore an Untamed Galaxy – Discover new planets and familiar frontiers in the Star Wars galaxy, each with unique biomes, challenges, and enemies. Master new skills, equipment, and abilities that will augment the ways you explore, fight, and roam.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases March 17, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

BioWare and EA love to celebrate its franchises, and this year’s Dragon Age day we got to see new Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and Dragon Age: Absolution media.

The star of the day (yesterday, December 4th) would be the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf 2D cinematic. Recently it was announced that the game had entered a stage where it was fully playable from start to finish, and was at the “production phase”, which is the point where they’re polishing, testing the narrative branches, and making sure it is right. It’s still early-ish days, but based on that info, it’s not impossible to consider a 2023 release for the game.

Anyway, the 2D Cinematic for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is below:

One thing that will have fans of the series excited is that the Netflix animation Dragon Age: Absolution is kicking off on December 9th (this Friday). It’s a six part series in collaboration with BioWare and Netflix, and that also has a trailer. The developer also added that “Before you ask, we’re sworn to secrecy on any new details—but we can say that you should keep an eye out for interviews about the project, both from our developers and from the team at Netflix as the series rolls out over the coming weeks”.

There are also some Dragon Age: Absolution posters, which you can check out over on the official blog.

We have a lot to celebrate this year, with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf deep in development and Dragon Age: Absolution just around the corner. And of course we’ll be celebrating the whole franchise alongside you, including a new short story, a small collaboration with The Sims 4, and discounts on the games across all platforms

Dragon Age has a lot coming down the pipe, then, hopefully that new game also makes an appearance.

In honour of nearly 15 years of Mass Effect, BioWare and EA have released details on how they intend to celebrate this huge milestone. In an official blog post, some small details about the next entry in the Mass Effect are revealed, although nothing regarding the story or gameplay is mentioned. Project director Mike Gamble does say, though, that “pre-production development has been proceeding very well,” and that the team behind it are “hard at work crafting new characters and locations that you’ll love, as well as revisiting many that you’ll remember.”

BioWare and EA are also celebrating 15 years of Mass Effect by teaming with Maxis to release some N7-themed wearable items to The Sims 4 on November 17. They’ll be free to anyone with the game, which is now free to play across all platforms. There are also a whole host of new clothing and collectables dropping on various retailer’s websites in celebration of Mass Effect, such as Dark Horse, Volante Design, Sanshee, and the official BioWare Store. Finally, Mass Effect Legendary Edition on PC will be on sale on the EA App and Steam.

At the end of the blog post, Mike Gamble rounds off the news on 15 years of Mass Effect by leaving one final message, which reads:

In the nearly 15 years since the release of the first Mass Effect, the biggest reason we still love working on it is the warmth, dedication, and passion of this community. There are some of you who have been with us through everything. We’ve grown together, sacrificed Ashley together, (Editor’s Note: Or Kaidan, Mike! We all make different choices.) faced difficulties together…and laughed until our Faces Were Tired…together! And for those of you who are new to Mass Effect (thanks, Legendary Edition!), welcome! I can promise that many years of fun, adventures, and characters you’ll fall in love with are still ahead.

Regardless of when you joined us, through four games and more expansions, I can say with certainty that we’re in this because of you, and every N7 Day is a wonderful reminder of that. As we look forward, each week is a fun and exciting challenge for the team. We love bringing this universe to life, and although there’s much more we want to share with you, that’ll have to be for another time.

For now, there is something we want you to have a look at. We’ve intercepted some strange footage from one of the monitoring stations in known space. It could be nothing, but…

Happy N7 Day, everyone!

The post A lot of effort is going in to making Dead Space an incredible remake appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Since 2008, Dead Space has become a huge IP in its own right, spawning multiple sequels and spin-off titles, comics, novels, and animated movies. However, by the time Dead Space 3 released, it became more focused on action than the survival horror seen in the original. We were recently shown a presentation held by Roman Campos Oriola, the Creative Director for the new Dead Space remake coming out in January 23. He was very clear that the intention with this remake was to return to the series’ roots, and doing so in a host of exciting ways.

From the trailer released recently, it’s clear that this ground up remake using the Frostbite Engine is not just bringing the game into the modern audience, it is faithfully remaking a much-loved horror classic and making it even better than it was before. Oriola detailed various improvements than fans will lose their minds over. For starters, the once voiceless protagonist AKA Isaac Clarke, the most unluckiest space engineer in the galaxy, with be voiced by Gunner Wright, the man responsible for bringing the character to life in the second and third mainline titles.

Another new feature that sounds devilishly wicked and utterly bonkers is the Necromorph Peeling System. Fundamentally, enemies will shed their skin as you attack them, or their bones will break in glorious detail. As Oriola said, it focuses on a “strategic severing of limbs under pressure.” It sounds horrific, but without a doubt it will add to the immersion Motive and EA are planning to bring to the remake, giving the player more strategies when taking down necromorphs. Embracing that immersive side is also highlighted in the fact that the entirety of Dead Space will take place in one continuous shot, without a single load screen or break of the camera.

The USG Ishimura was just as much of a character as Clarke, and Motive know this. That’s why they’ve added new rooms, as well as interconnected corridors and routes throughout the entire ship. The visual terrors of Dead Space are even more explicit, with incredible lighting and particle effects. Motive has built something called an Intensity Director that dynamically adjusts whatever lies in Isaac Clarke’s path, be it a necromorph spawn and their reaction to the engineer, the various environmental effects, or direct feedback of Isaac’s heartbeat, breathing, and exertions to provide the player with an idea of his emotional and physical state.

Dead Space sounds like so much more than just another remake, with new immersion features like a lack of load screens, the peeling system, new voice acting, new areas, new story beats, new UI map controls and an improved locator, and more, Motive has gone all out in crafting a faithful remake, filled to the brim with new features and effects. All I can say is, roll on January when the world gets to experience one of the greatest horror game of all time in a brand new and exciting way..

From the looks of the trailer, fans of the original will love it, and newcomers will also get a kick out of one of the best sci-fi survival horrors ever made.

The remake has been built from the ground up using the Frostbite game engine for enhanced audio and crisp, detailed visuals to evoke a brand new level of immersion. There will also be newly added narrative elements as players explore the USG Ishimura. In Dead Space, you take on the role of Isaac Clarke, an engineer on a routine mission to fix a vast mining starship who uncovers the ship’s crew have been slaughtered and infected, with his girlfriend, Nicole, missing on board.

Dead Space will also feature some key gameplay improvements including the following:

  • The Peeling System: Necromorphs, monstrosities unlike anything seen before, have been reconstructed around the new Peeling System, which introduces layered flesh, tendons and bones that break, tear and shatter in shocking new ways. And while strategy is key, players will also experience increased opportunities for creativity in how they utilize their variety of unique weapons and abilities to combat these horrifying enemies.
  • The Intensity Director: Dead Space’s beautifully crafted, equally haunting world has long been easy for players to get lost in, but now players will truly feel the weight of every mysterious step Isaac takes. The new Intensity Director dynamically adjusts what shows up in Isaac’s path, from Necromorph spawns and how they choose to attack them, to environmental effects such as light, smoke, particles and sound. Isaac’s heartbeat, breathing, and exertions also adjust based on his stress level to provide players direct feedback into his mental, emotional and physical state.
  • An Enhanced Engineering Fantasy: Without weapons or backup, Isaac is forced to defend himself against the Necromorphs by leveraging high-tech mining tools to strategically dismember nightmarish creatures, solve puzzles on his thrilling journey and turn the Ishimura’s malfunctioning systems to his advantage. Originally a silent protagonist, players will now hear more from the beloved engineer via new narrative enrichments voiced by Gunner Wright, the original voice of Isaac in Dead Space™ 2 (2011) and Dead Space™(2013).
  • A Fully Interconnected Ishimura: From the start screen to the end credits, players will confront the frighteningly tight corridors and shadowed hallways of the USG Ishimura without a single load screen or camera cut ever breaking the immersion. This enormous mining ship has been restored for the remake with new rooms, routes and obstacles while permitting seamless exploration with new UI map controls and an improved locator.

Dead Space launches on January 27, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can check out the Dead Space gameplay trailer below:
