EA has confirmed the full soundtrack for EA Sports F1 23, which will include the likes of Hot Chip, Wet Leg (Too late Now, remixed by Soulwax) and a lot more.

This F1 23 soundtrack list comes on the back of the previous announcements that include the return of the Braking Point story mode, and that the game will include all the teams, drivers, and circuits of the 2023 season (including the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, USA, and the Losail International Circuit, Qatar). There will also be F1 World, a hub that lets “engage with their different solo and multiplayer modes”. There are new handling modes, and community requested features, but you’re here for the OST list, so let’s get into it.

With the sportswashing spectre of LIV casting an unwanted shadow over the sport, the world needs the traditional bastions of golf to stand firm more than ever. Which is why the news of a new EA Sports PGA Tour is particularly well timed. And by jove, it looks like an absolute corker. I attended a briefing during which EA outlined the stunning array of features that we can expect when PGA Tour drops on the 24th March.

The game is, as Producer Ben Ramsour describes, built on four “pillars”.

The first and foremost of this quartet is the inclusion of all fully licenced Majors, plus LPGA events, and a number of other world-renowned tournaments both amateur and pro, including the FedExCup playoffs . Thanks to the incredible presentation, these prestigious tournaments are rendered with all of the pageantry and pomp that they deserve. A stunning trailer, narrated by our very own six-time Major winner Nick Faldo, showed us the legendary St Andrews course in all its virtual glory. Everything from the iconic trophies to the coveted green jacket will be instantly recognisable like an enveloping hug.

Second is the huge list of bucket list golfing venues that will be included in EA Sports PGA Tour. Using the Frostbite engine, and a mind-boggling amount of geo-mapping tech, including helicopters, drones, and actually getting boots on the ground and photographing the courses, the level of detail in each of these courses is sensational. Every single tree has been recreated, including the iconic lone cypress at Pebble Beach. The beautiful azalea flowers at Augusta are rendered in all their glory, right down to recreating the correct hue at certain times of year. The level of immersion promises to give an emotional payoff to your virtual golfing.

In at three is the new Pure Strike system. Using analytics software Shotlink and the golf sim Trackman, as well as analysing actual ball behaviours on real life courses and motion capture of real players, there has never been a more realistic swing experience. There are 20 different types of swing, with 1300 physics profiles that give you virtually unlimited options when taking a shot. The game footage we saw was absolutely mind blowing with ultra-realistic physics, but also gameplay that looks fun and retains enough accessibility to remind us that it is a videogame first and foremost.

Having said that, apparently there are some real-life golfers who say that they will actually use EA Sports PGA Tour to practice, such is its commitment to maintaining the physics of real golf. The producers actually sound like they are genuinely enjoying the game immensely, which is a great sign. It left me wanting to have a crack at wielding the analog stick to trigger off some classic Big Hit Moments just as I watched the virtual Scottie Scheffler pull off here. The most telling thing I heard during the Q&A today was how the people behind the game grew up not only loving real life golf, but as kids loved classic golf video games like Mario Golf and the early EA titles. I am willing to bet they have had dalliances with Everybody’s Golf as well.

The final pillar is the immersive RPG style career mode on offer. You can play on a variety of different Amateur tours, or go straight in at Major level should you wish. You can create a player, which can be male, female, or gender neutral, and use in-game XP earned to develop your style and abilities.

What else can we expect? There’s a wide range of licenced golfing gear, including Nike, Callaway, Jordan, and Macklemore’s Bogey Boys. A few examples of these were shown and whilst they are only cosmetic, it is certainly cool to be able to dress your player in all manner of swanky gear. The golfers themselves are incredibly detailed using the powers of the Frostbite engine, with the strand-based hair and accurate representation of muscle definition and movement giving us eerily realistic players. The commentary and on-course reporting sounds dynamic and will include historical references to particular hole and courses. On board are the likes of ex-pro Frank Nobilo, Golf Channel anchor Rich Lerner, and golf legend Notah Begay.

As well as offline modes like Road to the Masters, there is plenty of online stuff to enjoy too – including social modes that match you to players with similar skill levels, seasonal events and tournaments that tie in with real life, leaderboards and the ability to play with up to 16 players at a time. Footage of this was shown, and it was confirmed that during such online play you can actually see the other players golfing on the course with you in real time. I cannot wait to take a swing at this one, both on and offline, when it releases in March.

EA (Electronic Arts) has announced that the EA Origins label has partnered with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to make “the next great hunting game”.

EA is referring to the title as a “truly AAA experience based in fantasy feudal Japan” and says more information about the title is coming later in September.

“It’s an honour to be partnering with EA Originals and to have the support of a team with such an incredible track record of releasing groundbreaking new games,” said Yosuke Hayashi, Executive Vice President of Koei Tecmo. “The EA team fully embraces our creative independence and have become invaluable partners offering both development and publishing support. Adding the global resources of EA with our own will help us introduce a new kind of hunting game to a global audience of players and expand our reach into global markets. I’m really looking forward to the day that gamers from around the world can play this new game.”

Omega Force is well known for the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors titles, and was on duty for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and indeed Persona 5 Strikers, but the developer definitely has a known style. It’d be a surprise if this hunting game didn’t have some form of melee based hack ‘n’ slash combat, let’s put it that way.

“Building on the incredible success of EA Originals, which includes the recent releases of It Takes Two and Knockout City, we’re thrilled to be partnering with the amazingly talented Omega Force team,” said Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners. “They’ve elevated the hunting genre to the next level, merging their proven talent for combat gameplay with unexpected and innovative mechanics. Knockout City season 4 looks set to continue the trend of the game going from strength to strength, introducing a new map, new events, playlists, and another new brawl pass.

The new map is the Alien Smash Site, which is a place there are downed UFOs. With this comes a new mechanic that lets brawlers jump onto floating saucers and hover across open pits, moving at high speeds without losing ball-charge.

Over the coming months there will also be four new two-week events that have entirely new games, each with exclusive rewards, too. You can also have a UFO as a crew vehicle, a new energy drink is unveiled, and another season pass for Knockout City season 4 with 100 new levels to work through.

Over on the official PlayStation Blog, Zack Hiwiller, lead designer at Velan Studios, had plenty to say about trying new things.

One of the benefits of developing a live service game like Knockout City is that you can constantly try new things. If these things work for players, you build on them. If not, you try something else. The cycles can be really rapid. We want to constantly update game content and keep each experience fresh; we packed Season 3 with events, and you can expect more where that came from in Season 4. We have four two-week events planned for a twelve-week season which starts with our Conflict Escalation Playlist on December 7 and ends, as always, with a week of Midnight Madness at the end of February.

We also had a chance to speak to Velan Studios back in July this year, where the team revealed that “We knew that if they got their hands on it, they’d love it” and that “…now it’s our job to keep it fresh and unique each season, and surprise players. The team is working really hard to work on features that the community’s requesting, and respond to improvements, but also surprise with new maps, new ball types, new playlists, and that sort of thing, so hopefully we keep that going.”

Codemasters and Electronic Arts Inc. today released a new F1 2021 update trailer packed with information on all the upcoming free content and updates. The highlight is the addition of Portimao, home of the Portuguese Grand Prix, available from today to all players. Also available is the updated vehicle performance, reflecting the 2021 season more closely and the Aston Martin safety car, complementing the existing Mercedes AMG GT R.

Portimao is the first of three circuits added to the F1 calendar for the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. The free update allows players to re-write history following Lewis Hamilton’s win in May. Imola, home to Max Verstappen’s first win of the season, will be available in October, followed by Jeddah in November ahead of its debut as the season’s penultimate race. F1 2021 will also include several updates throughout the remainder of the F1 and F2 season.

EA and Maxis today revealed that The Sims 4 Spa Day game pack will receive an update on September 7, introducing a host of new improvements and content updates, allowing Sims to unwind, relax and melt away stress. Players can now pamper their Sims with facial masks, manicures, and pedicures.  There are new nail colors, designs, and shapes to let Sims show off their style and individuality.

In addition, The Sims 4 Spa Day game pack will feature a new Inner Peace aspiration and High Maintenance trait.  Kids will also be able to participate in wellness activities, including yoga and mediation. Sims looking to take their Wellness to the next level can aspire to be a Zen Guru or Self-Care Specialist.  They can then earn a few extra Simoleons by teaching other Sims to find control through mindfulness.

EA has announced the Knockout City Heroes event.  Starting Tuesday, August 31 at 12 pm UTC, Knockout City will be the ultimate battleground for heroes and villains in the all-new Superpowers! Playlist. Players will receive a random superpower every time they respawn in this 3v3 mode.  You can also earn a cache of items by taking on unique Contracts for a limited time. Knockout Superpowers

With the advantages granted by each of the seven unique powers, players will be able to dominate and wipe out the enemy team in brand new ways. The seven unique superpowers include:

• Ballform Bounce.  While in Ballform, bounce pads will Ultimate Throw you.
• Charge-Up.  Gain extra overcharge from catches and passes.
• Tackle Strike.  Tackle your opponents to deal damage.
• Double Jump.  Jump again in the air.
• Healing Powers.  Heal your hearts back over time.
• Strength.  Pick up opponents by tackling them.
• X-Ray Vision.  See and target players through walls.

Limited-edition hero cosmetics can be exchanged for Power Crystals, earned by playing matches in Street Play and League Play or completing Contracts. Some Contracts require mastery of one of the unique powers, like the Sticky Fingers contract, which can be completed after scoring 10 KOs with the Super Strength super power. The Hero Bundle will also let players thrive as heroes, or rise to villainous infamy, in style with new Legendary items, including the V.I.P.E.R. Head, Captain KO Mask, Tech Gloves and Cybersuit available for 2400 Holobux in the Brawl Shop. Between the Hero Bundle and everything available in the event shop, there are over 20 limited and unique cosmetics available during the Knockout City Heroes event.

Players must be sure to try the Superpowers! playlist and spend their earned Power Crystals before the event ends on Tuesday, September 14 at 12 pm UTC.

Electronic Arts has announced Action Bronson as the latest addition to UFC 4.  This news comes ahead of the inclusion of UFC 4 to the EA Play platform.  The rapper took to his Instagram and revealed that fans can use him as a playable character in the game.

Action Bronson is a music artist, chef, television presenter, and lifelong MMA fan.  He also delivered the vocals for the trailer of UFC 4 in July last year.  Bronson’s inclusion into the roster is no fluke. The rapper has been on a transformational weight loss journey over the last year.  He has trained relentlessly and practiced martial arts to shed more than 125 pounds.  His impressive fighting skillsets have been crafted through training with rising UFC bantamweight Marlon Vera and Brazilian Jiujitsu expert Orlando Sanchez.

Chris White reviewed UFC 4 when it was released in August 2020.  He had this to say:

UFC 4 sees a big improvement on making the transition from clinches to strikes more fluid, and the overhauled submission system makes it easier for people like me who get confused by EA Sport’s take on transitioning from full guards to submissions, to everything else in between. The Career Mode has also seen some nice improvements, and the Blitz Mode is a lot of fun. Visually, it is still very much the same as it was in UFC 3, and even though the commentary can be repetitive, it’s nice not having to listen to Joe Rogan this time around. UFC 4 feels like a step in the right direction, and by the time we see the next entry in the series, the next generation of consoles could be the perfect home for the future of UFC.

Electronic Arts and DICE have revealed the official partners for the highly-anticipated next installment in the renowned Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 2042.  These include Microsoft, NVIDIA, Logitech, Polaris and Western Digital.

Earlier this month, EA and DICE revealed the game with Battlefield 2042’s official reveal trailer.  Then players got a first look at gameplay a few days later with the official gameplay trailer on June 13.

Electronic Arts has revealed the new Knockout City mid-season in-game event, Heatwave.  The dodgeball-inspired multiplayer game Knockout City took the spotlight at GameSpot’s E3 Play For All show yesterday, where the Velan Studios team revealed the Heatwave event.  The event is taking place Tuesday, June 22 through Monday, July 5.

Event features

During the Heatwave event, dodgebrawlers can beat that summer heat by collecting Ice Pops hidden all over the sprawling Knockout City maps. Players then have the chance to unlock cool limited-time items, if they can complete matches, find the Ice Pops, and earn Heatwave Tickets redeemable in the Heatwave Event Shop.  Limited-time items include an Ice Cream Truck glider and an intro-pose where players lounge in a beach chair sipping a drink.  Completing all Heatwave contracts unlocks the Legendary Ultimate Hologram, the Fire Hydrant.

Exciting new playlists will also become available, including:

• June 22 – Party Face-Off
  • 1v1, ALL Special Balls
  • Classic Face-Off Rules: Danger Zone, no border warnings, etc.

Today, Electronic Arts has announced the formation of a brand new studio based in Vancouver that is set to work on the next evolution of Skate. Full Circle are made up of team members from around the world, made up of different cultures and backgrounds, all under the leadership of Daniel McCulloch, former Head of Xbox Live at Microsoft.

“The fans wished Skate back into existence and we want them involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond. We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle,” said Daniel McCulloch, GM of Full Circle. “We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.”

The creative leadership of the Skate series return, with Daniel Chung and Cuz Parry back to bring their passion and knowledge of skate culture to make the next game in the series. “We’re so stoked to be back working on Skate,” the pair said. “Some would say things have come full circle.” The development team are also hiring artists, designers, and engineers, with more positions to come throughout the year.

The Premier League and Electronic Arts are launching the third season of ePremier League on FIFA 21, giving UK-based players the chance to win the ePremier League title for their favourite club.

Registration for this year’s competition opens at 5pm GMT on Thursday, December 3, 2020 on the ePremier League website. Online qualification will then begin in January 2021. Representatives for all 20 Premier League clubs will compete to see who reaches the online playoffs, before the live finals take place next spring. The finals will once again be broadcast live on Sky Sports, Premier League channels and EA SPORTS FIFA Twitch channel.

The EA SPORTS FIFA video game series is one of the key channels through which fans all over the world can engage with Premier League clubs and players. Electronic Arts has today unveiled what FIFA 21 will look like on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S when it launches on December 4, 2020. Using the power of new generation consoles combined with advances in the Frostbite engine will enhance the player experience. Expect lightning-fast load times and enhanced sights, sounds, and player movement, in addition to ultra-realistic football environments.

This new version of the game will use LiveLight Rendering, a deferred lighting system that enhances every aspect of the on-pitch experience. Thousands of authentic chants captured exclusively from the world’s biggest competitions, including the Premier League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga, will deliver an authentic crowd experience. Next-gen technology powered by Frostbite delivers an unprecedented level of player fidelity. Electronic Arts has today revealed EA SPORTS UFC 4, featuring UFC middleweight champion Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya and UFC welterweight contender Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal as the game’s official cover athletes. The game releases on August 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and featured tons of new features that put the created fighter at the heart of the action. UFC 4 will feature an all-new unified progression system, overhauled takedown and ground mechanics, more fluid clinch-to-strike combinations, and the chance to experience the origins in all-new environments.

Not only are there set to be plenty of improvements and features, players who pre-order will be able to play out one of the most anticipated fights in combat sports history with world heavyweight boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury on day one.

“Fighting is what I have dedicated myself to. No matter the stage or opponent, I’ll always back myself,” said two time unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua “My character in UFC 4 will be no different. I’m looking forward to picking up the controller and dominating UFC 4.”

“I have a lot of respect for the UFC fighters but I’m the greatest fighter in the world,” said WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury. “It’s going to be exciting to watch players use my boxing skills to outshine the most talented MMA fighters in UFC 4.”

UFC 4 will see fighters shaped by their fight style, achievements, and personality. Through the unified progression system, players can develop and customise themselves and go from an unknown amateur to UFC superstar in the new Career Mode. There’re four new environments coming to the game, including The Kumite, The Backyard, UFC Apex, and Action Avenue, and you’ll also be able to challenge the world in new Blitz Battles or Online World Championships. Players will be defined by weight class and one of five MMA disciplines such as Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, and wrestling, with over 1,600 pieces of earnable gear and 120 emotes.

“EA SPORTS UFC 4 is the best fighting game ever made,” said UFC President Dana White. “Fans can play in the top arenas, as well as in Backyard and Kumite environments. This game allows you to play with the top athletes in UFC history*, plus legends like Bruce Lee and boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. It’s crazy how good this game is.”

“UFC 4 is the most authentic MMA game ever,” said Brian Hayes, Creative Director of EA SPORTS UFC. “We’ve created a visceral fighting experience that allows players to create their own UFC legacy with Create a Fighter, explore the origins of MMA through our new fighting grounds and be in full control of every strike and takedown with our overhauled core gameplay mechanics.”

Clinch-to-strike combinations are more fluid, authentic, and responsive. Clinch crontrols now bring RPM into the art of the clinch, adding a key element of strategy to the striking system. RPM Tech also drives a takedown overhaul, with a slew of new takedown animations which are driven by player contro and fight attributes. A new submission system offers a simplified player experience, with more ways to transition into submission attempts, accelerate a finish, or deploy high-impact slams to escape them.

The new Career Mode introduces a brand-new way to develop fighter’s backstories and offers an in-depth evolution process for the duration of the fighter’s career. The new fighter evolution feature will dictate a fighter’s skillset, meaning every punch, throw, or takedown builds a fighter up in that discipline. Relationship Building brings the impact of partnerships and rivalries into UFC 4, learning both friend and foe to gain experience and learn vital skills. Players will be able to pick their own path that’ll let them pick fights, weight classes, and rivalries they want, ensuring no two careers are the same.

Available worldwide on August 14 on PS4 and Xbox One (with EA ACCESS members getting to play the early access trial from August 7), players who pre-order now not only get access to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, but they will also get cosmetic items in the form of the Backyard Customisation Pack and Kumite Customisation Pack. If you purchase through UFC 2 or UFC 3, you’ll get 10% UFC 4, martial arts legend Bruce Lee, and 500 UFC points.

In a Pitch Notes blog for FIFA 20, EA Sports has laid out the changes they’re making to the Pro Clubs mode for the new game.

The changes will see improvements to customisation options for your Virtual Pro, new modes and several fixes. So, if you were a fan of this mode in FIFA 19 you should find yourself well catered for in FIFA 20.

In regards to customisation EA Sports are citing a ‘4 quadrant axis morphing tool’ that will allow you to define each facial feature to your liking, and also add extra morphing options and more skin tones. There’ll also be more options in the way of names being spoken in commentary, more choices of goalkeeper gloves and being able to set your favourite celebrations or set piece routines.

They’ve added more positions for you to choose to play in, and changed how player progression affects your player, with certain aspects having a risk reward element; should you focus a lot on certain attributes others will suffer as a result.

Broadcasting will see improvements along the lines of augmented reality overlays in regards to intros, half time and goals, there’ll also be unique colours dependant on the mode you’re playing.

Finally, there are two new match types coming to Pro Clubs: House Rules Cups and Practice Matches. House Rules Cups is basically a Pro Clubs extension of House Rules matches from FIFA 19, giving you a different match type every day of the week, the schedule will be available in game so you’ll always know when to attend to ensure you play your favourite match type. On the flip side I do believe Practice Match speaks for itself.

There’s a whole raft of bug fixes and quality of life improvements too, you can find all the details about FIFA 20’s Pro Clubs mode through the link posted above.

FIFA 20 will release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 27. EA Access members can play from September 19, while anyone who pre-ordered will be able to play from September 24.

We’re fast approaching the dawn of a new footy season, and the games are ramping up ready for their release, today sees EA showing off improvements in FIFA 20.

To be honest EA crow about improvements to their game every year, normally touting improvements to the ball physics and this year is no exception with the new improvements allowing for the most realistic experience yet. Anyway, watch the video below to learn a little about the changes to the set piece system, composed finishing and dynamic 1v1s.

FIFA 20 will release for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on September 27. Pre-order early access starts on September 24, while EA Play members will be able to start playing from September 19.

If you like FIFA and you like numbers then this is the news post for you, you lucky person (or persons).

The Global Series regular season events generated over 680 million minutes watched  with 61 million total views. Now, I don’t have last year’s numbers to hand, but that’s apparently a 60% increase in minutes watched and a 25% increase on overall views from the previous year, which is a really good return. You can see a full breakdown here if infographics are your thing.

From here the series goes to the playoffs with the Xbox Ladder taking place in Hamburg between July 5 and 7, then the PS4 bracket in berlin from July 12 to 14. 128 players will take part, with 64 per console bracket as they try to advance to the FIFA eWorld Cup and become the eWorld Cup 2019 Champion.

Bioware today confirmed that the Xbox One X version of Anthem will be enhanced compared to other console versions of the game. Scott Newman, the Head of Technology for Anthem at Bioware was speaking to Xbox Wire about the Xbox One version of the title and had this to say:

The Anthem team has been able to leverage the power of the Xbox One X to deliver enhanced graphics to our players. The added GPU power of this console allows Anthem to render at native 4K and with HDR. To complement the increased image quality of 4K, we have also increased the resolution at which we render shadows in the game, and we have enhanced the rendering of in-game terrain. Finally, the added memory of the Xbox One X allows us to increase the number of meshes and textures we stream into the player’s view at any given moment.

Once players see Anthem running on the Xbox One X, it becomes apparent that this is one of the best ways to experience it. No other console can handle the improvements to image fidelity while also rendering at native 4K. Anthem is quite stunning when played on Xbox One X.

So, that’s the definitive word on the enhancements the added grunt of the Xbox One X has afforded the team in charge of Anthem.

So the Anthem demos are over. We are now less than 3 weeks from launch, and frankly still a little unclear as to exactly what we’re getting on Feb 22nd. It’s like we’ve been given a free taster of a meal that went down fairly well but no one will tell us what the chewy bits were and no one’s seen Rover for a good few days. I’m not suggesting for a moment that BioWare intend to serve us dog, but I also can’t say with any concrete certainty that they don’t.

We’ve now had a glimpse at a vertical slice of Anthem, and we’ve been to events to see the endgame, such as it is, but here’s the thing: EA and BioWare are taking steps to control exactly what we know, and are straight up dodging the stuff they don’t like us questioning. Things like the microtransactions that they’re still being very cagey about and pretending they haven’t finalised for a game that’s gone gold. But what about the stuff we do know? Well, to be fair, we’ve got some questions about that too, and specifically about a handful of things – six, in fact – that Anthem is currently lacking, and really needs at launch.

1: A stats screen
This is a no-brainer. This isn’t even a no-brainer; this is what happens when you take a no-brainer and make it watch nothing but daytime soaps for 10 days straight. This is 101 stuff. The whole game is built on team synergy, teamwork, and gear builds, but I currently have no menu to check this. Anthem has more menus than a Chinese Takeaway, but just not this one. So if you forget which convoluted-scifi-named piece of planet-shaking ordnance you equipped before leaving Fort Tarsis, you’ll be useless when coordinating strategy.

2: Loadout stations
Likewise, there’s no way to change your gear or build in the world. This may be fine if you’re doing a mission and you’ve pre-prepared for 20 minutes, but if you or any of your friends screw up and bring the wrong gun (and that’s easy done because they all look the same) you’ll have to trek all the way back to Fort Tarsis, use the Forge, then load back into the mission. Also, in Freeplay, the objectives will be dynamic and varied (we hope) so not every job will be doable with the same guns. Except the Devastator sniper rifle. That thing is an utter menace.

3: Gun customisation
Why would you spend countless hours making your Javelin look like you built it out of two £100K sports cars and then go into battle with a gun that looks like you found it in a bin and fixed it with gaffer tape? If you’re the kind of vain, self-inflating exo-suit pilot who won’t go into battle without making sure none of your colours clash, why would you then pick up a battered old assault Rifle without giving it a similar makeover?

4: Player-to-player trading
Anthem has crafting. It also has material gathering and an economy. That leads us to believe there must be rare ingredients out there that you need to grind for in order to make the better stuff. So it stands to reason that you’d have people with busy lives and no time to grind and farm, and those with sod all better to do on a Friday night than loot alien spore pods for sticky goodies. Wouldn’t it make sense to allow players to trade goods, even if you limit that to avoid a gold-farmer situation. BioWare are giving us a meeting hub, so why not player to player trading?

5: A stable framerate
Let’s be clear, I really enjoyed my time with the Anthem demos, but it wasn’t the best showcase for the game. BioWare have repeatedly said that the launch build is better, and lots of YouTubers are saying similar things so I’m not hugely worried, but I am concerned that the demos were about as smooth as a horse’s bollockbag. If BioWare have managed to fix that framerate to a point where it’s not choppier than Jason Vorhese, kudos, but I’ll wait til I see it.

6: A meaty endgame
Now, far be it from me to body-shame anyone’s endgame but if you’re going to release a looter-shooter with the content equivalent of a bony arse no one’s going to stick around for long. At this point we’ve been promised 3 Strongholds, one of which we all played several times in the demo, and a daily legendary bounty, which is a multi-part quest that you can only do one of per day. And that’s it. You can zip around the openworld if you like, but really that seems pretty thin on the content side. Even Vanilla Destiny had patrols and Strikes and the Crucible to keep people at least half invested, but the big worry is that we’ll all be kicking around in gaudily-painted 2-ton murdersuits with nothing to murder but the wildlife while we wait for BioWare to give us something new to shoot at. There’s a new buzz word right now which is “Aspirational content” meaning Raids and Shaper Storms and dungeons – but I hope there’s more coming, and soon, because, honestly, I’m counting on Anthem to replace Destiny 2 as my new hobby game.

So, there you go. Those are 6 things I think Anthem really needs to bring to its launch party if it wants any of us to dance. Right now I’m still very hopeful, but I want to be wowed – and I think Anthem still has the potential to do that. My big fear is that all the demos and reveals have watered down the hype, and made an already tough sell even tougher. Fingers crossed for February 22.

The developers behind Titanfall have thrown their hats into the Battle Royale arena by unveiling Apex Legends.

Unveiled during a twitch stream and brought into the world via a trailer that looks like it could have been animated by Studio Laika, Apex Legends looks to marry the success of Overwatch with that of Fortnite Battle Royale. Here, unlike your character being the same as everyone else, you choose a character with a unique set of abilities and use those to succeed in a hostile arena with 60 players.

You can track your mode record and stats with a new Kick-Off ID. This mode will also allow you to turn off the referee and go all out into a survival mode that definitely isn’t like one of the more popular modes in AAA gaming today.

FUT 19 on the other hand has Division Rivals that replaces Online Seasons. Players will be able to earn weekly rewards here.

FIFA 19 releases on September 28 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

After seven years of EA’s Origin, the company are now launching a premium subscription option for the service.

By paying out for Origin Access Premier players will have full access to all of the catalogue available on the service and they will also be able to play games before non-subscribers have access to them. Forthcoming games to make use of early availability are Madden NFL 19 Hall of Fame Edition, FIFA 19 Ultimate Edition, Battlefield V Deluxe Edition and Anthem Legion of Dawn Edition. All of the game versions will include the additional extras the ‘special’ editions came with at no extra cost to subscribers.

The service is only available on PC, and will have two payment plans available. You’ll be able to pay either £14.99 a month, or £89.99 for a whole year. Sounds like a decent deal, but your mileage may vary depending on what your view is on EA’s catalogue. There’s certainly a lot of content, and for £15 a month you’ll be able to play as many of them as you want.

The ESRB ratings board has a new rating for Unravel 2 that gives us the platforms and some details about the game.

If you missed out on Unravel, check our review of it here. A rating popped up on the ESRB website ahead of EA play that has revealed the platforms for Unravel 2. We knew it was coming but many thought it would be on Switch as well.

The summary from the rating from Electronic Arts on the ESRB is below:

This is a side-scrolling platformer in which players control a pair of fantastical creatures called Yarnys as they navigate environments. Players traverse platforms and avoid hazards by swinging from yarn lassos; some areas contain animals that chase/menace the player’s characters. The Yarnys are defeated when they are eaten by a fish, grabbed by birds, crushed by boulders, or run over by cars.

This implies it could have co-op support. We will know more tonight at EA Play.

EA and DICE just announced that Battlefield V is launching worldwide on October 19.

Battlefield V goes back to World War 2 and will be the most immersive Battlefield yet. There will be new and fan favourite multiplayer modes and a new Tides of War experience that will have live events, challenges, battles, and rewards for Battlefield players. Multiplayer will allow towing stationary weapons, building and repairing structures to turn the tides of battle, and more. Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager, at DICE commented:

“Battlefield V is a homecoming for DICE as a studio—a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise. But as nostalgic as we are about World War 2, we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting. Our vision with Battlefield V is to let players explore new and untold sides of the conflict that shaped the modern world. The scale of each battle and level of immersion is unlike anything we’ve done before in Battlefield and players are in for an epic journey.”

Multiplayer will have customzable soldiers, weapons, and vehicles that evolve with progress. The 64 player conquest returns alonside Grand Operations and the new Tides of War mode that will be live services. Grand Operations will be fully revealed at EA Play next month. There will be no premium pass. All players get access to the maps and modes and the community will not be fragmented.

Battlefield 1 had War Stories as the single player campaign and there will be War Stories for Battlefield V as well. The campaign will take you across Norwegian frozen landscapes and the North African Desert in addition to more locations.

EA and Maxis have announced that The Sims 4 My First Pets Stuff will be releasing on the PC version next week, 13 March.

The Sims 4 My First Pets Stuff includes small pets like hamsters, rats, pygmy hedgehog and miniature bubalus. You Sim can name and play with them as well has learning a lot of things to help them take care of their pets.

Alongside some new friends, Cats and Dogs have a wider range of clothing, including matching outfits for both your Sim and their pet. There clothing ranges from glamorous dresses to comfy pyjamas, so your pets will be fit for any occasion. Sims can also decorate with pet prints across décor and furniture, to make their home the paradise their pets deserve.

The Sims 4 My First Pets Stuff will be available digitally on Origin from 13 March, you will require The Sims 4 in order to play it. In addition to unlock all stuff pack content you will also require The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs expansion.

EA revealed new release windows and gave everyone updates on new games coming up.

ANTHEM from BioWare which is an online multiplayer action experience will now launch in early 2019. It was originally scheduled for this year. There will be a new Battlefield game this October and EA believed it would overshadow Anthem.

Another interesting update was for Star Wars Battlefront II. It has sold 9 million copies which is 1 million lower than EA’s expectations. It also saw a higher percentage of sales being digital.

ANTHEM will launch in early 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The new and untitled Battlefield will likely launch on the same platforms this October.

Image & Form made a name for themselves with the amazing SteamWorld franchise. Zoink is more recently known for Fe which is coming out soon through EA. Both companies have been in the industry for a while and it is nice to see them joining forces. Thunderful is a new LLC company that fully owns Image & Form and Zoink. Thunderful is owned by Bergsala Holding, Brjann Sigurgeirsson and Klaus Lyngeled. Both companies are based in Gothenburg, Sweden and will continue making games with old and new IPs under their own labels. Brjann Sigurgeirsoon, CEO of Image & Form and CEO of Thunderful commented:

“We already work together on a daily basis in PR, marketing, intelligence and publishing. Image & Form and Zoink will continue to produce games like we always do, but we’re now formalizing our close relationship. Through Thunderful we can share resources more effectively, officially act together and launch bigger, more ambitious game projects. We’re becoming a real powerhouse.”

Klaus Lyngeled, CEO of Zoink and Chief Creative Officer of Thunderful also commented:

“Brjann and I already exchange very much information, so this development is natural,” says Klaus Lyngeled, CEO of Zoink and Chief Creative Officer of Thunderful. “With a group of close to 50 people we’ll grow our clout both nationally and internationally.”

They plan on moving to a larger office next. It is going to be interesting seeing what they do together in the future.

EA just announced that it is acquiring Respawn Entertainment.

The deal will have EA pay 151 million dollars in cash with 164 million dollars in long term equity through restricted stock units vested over four years. There may be an additional cash consideration for performance milestones and it is limited to 140 million dollars. Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, commented:

“We’ve seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent and an inspiring creative mindset. Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world. Together, we’ve brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more amazing things in the future.”

Vince Zampella, CEO of Respawn Entertainment also commented:

“We started Respawn with the goal to create a studio with some of the best talent in the industry, and to be a top developer of innovative games. We felt that now was the time to join an industry leader that brings the resources and support we need for long term success, while still keeping our culture and creative freedom. EA just announced The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs.

This expansion arrives for PC and Mac on November 10. It adds cats and dogs as the name suggests with a new create a pet tool. Design your dream pet with it through multiple breeds, with coat customization, patterns, and more. Lyndsay Pearson, Executive Producer, commented on the expansion:

“The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs offers fans some of the cutest, most charming pets ever seen in The Sims. From dogs and cats to puppies and kittens, the new tools for customising pets are so flexible and powerful, players can really create anything they can imagine. Bioware announces no more single player content or story through patches in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

In a post on the official Mass Effect website, the team gave everyone an update on future content and patches. The last patch which was 1.10 will be the final update for the game. Going forward, the multiplayer team will discuss the new content and support coming for that aspect of Andromeda. Here’s the full letter:

Since the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, we’ve worked hard to address feedback from our community. From improving animations to expanding customization options, we looked to respond to your concerns, and build on what you loved.

With each patch, you let us know we were heading in the right direction, and we’re grateful to everyone who joined us on this journey. We’re proud of what we created, and we hope you enjoyed it as well.

Early in development, we decided to focus Mass Effect: Andromeda’s story on the Pathfinder, the exploration of the Andromeda galaxy, and the conflict with the Archon. The game was designed to further expand on the Pathfinder’s journey through this new galaxy with story-based APEX multiplayer missions and we will continue to tell stories in the Andromeda Galaxy through our upcoming comics and novels, including the fate of the quarian ark.

Our last update, 1.10, was the final update for Mass Effect: Andromeda. There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content.

In the coming weeks, our multiplayer team will provide details of their ongoing support and upcoming content, including new multiplayer missions, character kits, and what’s in store for N7 Day.

We appreciate all the millions of people who came with us to the Andromeda galaxy. We hope to see you again in the Mass Effect universe.

This free demo will be on both PS4 and Xbox One. It will allow progress to be transferred to the full game on September 15 as well. EA and Respawn just released Titanfall 2 Ultimate Edition.

Titanfall 2 is pretty great and the post launch support has been amazing for it. EA and Respawn have just released an Ultimate Edition of it. This is the best way to jump into Titanfall 2 now and it includes loads of extras. For one, the deluxe edition content is all included and there will be a Jump Start Pack included. This unlocks all titans and pilot tacticals and has more tokens, xp, gear, and warpaint. Another announcement is that players will be able to get the post launch DLC for Titanfall 2 for free.

Sony and EA just announced some FIFA 18 bundles with PS4.

This year the console bundles for FIFA will be with PlayStation. There will be multiple bundles released in PAL regions. These bundles also have an exclusive Rare Players Pack and 3 ICON loan players for FUT.

EA and Dice just announced the dates for Battlefront II’s multiplayer beta.

If you preordered Battlefront II, you can start playing the multiplayer beta from October 4. This includes playing with your favourite heroes in 20 v 20 assault mode on Theed City. There will also be a Starfighter Assault Battle included in the beta. The public beta begins 2 days later on October 6 and will last until October 9. EA has finally revealed some details for FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch.

Ever since the Nintendo Switch announcement event, fans have wanted to know what version of FIFA they would be able to play on the Switch. Over the last few months we have had info ranging from the current generation version and even some reports that FIFA on Switch would be based on the last generation version. Today EA has revealed which game modes will be available in this version. EA Sports FIFA 18 on Switch will not feature The Journey (Story Mode) but it will feature FIFA 18 Ultimate Team. It will also include Career Mode, Local Kickoff, and Seasons. Here’s what the producer, Andrei Lăzărescu had to say about this release:

“FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch is the best FIFA you can take with you anywhere, play anytime and with anyone. We’re delivering the immersive and authentic experience that fans expect from FIFA, while leveraging innovative ways to play both at home and on the go with Nintendo Switch.”

It will output at 1080p docked and 720p on handheld and allow for local multiplayer with all control options. EA claims this will be the most advanced portable FIFA experience.
