Meat fans, unite! Thunderful and Team Meat have announced that Super Meat Boy Forever is now available to buy on iOS and Android for £0.99. The heroic duo of Meat Boy and Bandage Girl must unite to rescue their daughter, Nugget, the the evil Dr. Fetus.

The ultimate challenge for mobile gamers, with randomly composed levels that provide a fresh and exciting experience with every playthrough. While it’s tough, it’s also incredibly rewarding, giving you that sweet Super Meat Boy feeling of accomplishment with every level conquered.

With familiar settings and new worlds to explore, you’ll run, jump, punch, and kick your way to glory. Take the meaty goodness of Super Meat Boy Forever with you wherever you go – whether you’re on the toilet, waiting in line, or ignoring your significant other, this game will keep you entertained with thousands of level chunks that can be combined in endless ways. So if you’re up for a challenge and want to have a blast at the same time, look no further than Super Meat Boy Forever on mobile.

“Two buttons, hard as hell, bloody, rewarding and a whole bunch of fun”, said Tommy Refenes, the co-founder of Team Meat. “Thanks to Thunderful’s help, we’ve brought the entire game to mobile. No ads, no micro-transactions – it’s the full, uncompromised Super Meat Boy Forever experience for just $0.99. We were going to charge per life but we were afraid doing so would tank the global economy.”

The original released in December 2020, and in our review, we said it’s “an entertaining autorun platformer that never manages to step out of the shadow of the first game. Although packed with ideas and an almost infinite amount of content, Forever’s lack of control and dismal boss encounters fail to live up to the high standards that Team Meat has set previously.”

Game Freak’s Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! leads the charge for Apple Arcade this January https://www.godisageek.com/2023/01/game-freaks-pocket-card-jockey-ride-on-leads-the-charge-for-apple-arcade-this-january/ Tue, 03 Jan 2023 13:07:35 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=271778 Plenty coming this month for iOS users.

The post Game Freak’s Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! leads the charge for Apple Arcade this January appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Apple Arcade is starting 2023 with a bang, thanks to the January 20th release of Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! from Pokemon developer, Game Freak.

Apple says that after a year where 50 new games hit the service, as well as over 300 updates for games on Apple Arcade came, 2023 is going to start big as well, with Episode XOXO from Pocket Gems, which is the “next instalment in the #1 interactive storytelling game on iOS”, and is coming exclusively to Apple Arcade. This one is coming on Friday, January 6th, 2023.

Next up, on January 13th, Illustrated is adding to the already stellar line-up of puzzlers on iOS. Illustrated is described as immersing players “in beautiful illustrations and the stories behind them. Featuring creative gameplay that blends jigsaw and word puzzles, each puzzle begins with an illustration represented as an early concept sketch, paired with the concealed words of the artist’s story behind their work of art. With every correctly-placed piece, the illustration comes alive with colour while the words of the story are slowly revealed. Upon completion, the full-colour masterpiece and story are revealed together in unity”.

Illustrated

The biggest release of January 2023 for Apple Arcade however, is the title from Game Freak (the developer behind the Nintendo-based Pokemon series): Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! Here’s the official description:

Pocket Card Jockey originally released to great acclaim on the Nintendo 3DS, and while the basic rules are the same, the racing segments have been reborn in glorious 3D. Players will jockey their way to victory by clearing cards with sequential numbers in quick succession. The more cards they clear, the better their horse’s mood will be — which in turn helps them charge energy during races. The position of their horse on the track determines the difficulty of their solitaire rounds. There are also special cards that can be picked up if they run over them while racing.

These cards provide a variety of benefits, including levelling up their horse, learning new skills, or improving their performance in a race. Once their steed is fully charged and in the homestretch, they will then have to sprint their hearts out to secure victory. As players prepare for future races, they’ll be able to take the beloved steeds they’ve grown on the racetrack and pair them up on the farm. The foal they produce will inherit their abilities and become their new partner on the racecourse. Breed generation after generation of racehorses in the quest to conquer all the biggest, most prestigious races in the world.

Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!

And finally, on January 27th, Squiggle Drop from Noodlecake is coming to iOS devices. This is another puzzler that “uses creativity and imagination to solve charming physics puzzles by drawing a single shape. Players can complete over 100 puzzles, each with multiple and often surprising solutions, and earn rewards to build their very own Squiggletown. Unlock buildings, cosmetics, and various upgrades as players expand their own personal city”.

On top of that, there will also be updates throughout the month that include Angry Birds Reloaded, Grindstone, Jetpack Joyride 2, and Skate City.

The Steam app gets a long overdue update and visual overhaul https://www.godisageek.com/2022/10/the-steam-app-gets-a-long-overdue-update-and-visual-overhaul/ Thu, 13 Oct 2022 08:51:41 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=268723 Valve does it again.

The post The Steam app gets a long overdue update and visual overhaul appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The Steam app has finally been given a major update by Valve, and it’s night and day in terms of visual quality.

While Valve has often led the way with things like the Valve Index for VR, or even the recently released Steam Deck, the app has felt like a browser window inside an app shell for years now, but this new update really does bring a lot new aside the visual update, though it’s still not possible to redeem game codes (you have to use a mobile web link to do that) within the app.

One of the biggest features is the QR code login, which means once activated on your mobile device, you can just use your phone to scan a QR code on a PC (or even Steam Deck via a future update) and log in super-quick. Having tested that on a browser, it’s excellent and works flawlessly.

Features of the app

  • Two-factor authentication to ensure you’re the only one with access to your account
  • QR code sign in – Scan a QR code to sign into Steam instead of entering a password or…
  • Sign in confirmation – Confirm your regular Steam sign ins with simple “approve” or “deny”
  • Authorized Devices – Manage access to the devices your account has signed in
  • Easy access to the Store, Community, News, etc from wherever you are
  • Your Library with access to your game content, discussions, guides, support, and more
  • Remote download of games and updates on your PC, managed from your phone
  • Customizable Steam notifications: wishlist, sales, comments, trades, discussions, friend requests, and more
  • Trade and Market confirmations – to ensure items don’t leave your account without your approval
  • An improved Store browsing experience for mobile screens
  • Support for using multiple Steam accounts in the app
  • Customizable tabs

One of the nice features is that remote downloading, but the improved store is just a far better experience overall. You can update your existing app, or grab it from the iOS Store or Google Play marketplace.

Warped Kart Racers and Badland Party lead this month’s additions to Apple Arcade https://www.godisageek.com/2022/05/warped-kart-racers-and-badland-party-lead-this-months-additions-to-apple-arcade/ Wed, 04 May 2022 08:52:17 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=262847 It seems to me...

Apple Arcade continues to be a subscription that’s great value for money, and this month we’re getting Warped Kart Racers and Badland Party as the headline acts. Both titles are coming to iOS devices (including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV) with Warped Kart Racers coming on May 20th, and Badland Party hitting this Friday, May 6th.

Warped Kart Racers (from developer Electric Square) does look the pick of the bunch, bringing some Kart-racing fun in the style of Mario Kart to iOS. The game will include characters from TV shows like Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, and even Solar Opposites, which is the newest show from the co-creator of Rick and Morty (and it’s a great, fun show). There are 16 courses taken from “fan favourite episodes” for a single player campaign, or eight-player online multiplayer matches. The trailer shows 20 characters, with seemingly five from each show.

Badland Party comes from developer HypeHype Inc is a follow up to one of Apple’s Game of the Year award winning titles Badland, and Badlands 2. The game takes the series’ visual allure another step forward, introducing dozens of new characters to play with their friends. Survive through multiple new worlds, take down giant machines in epic boss fights, cooperate to solve multiplayer puzzles, roll, fly, swim and dive through the beautiful lush world of Badland and help save the Clones from the heinous contraptions of the machine kind.

Elsewhere this month, Goat Simulator+ is coming to Apple Arcade on May 13th, and Pro Darts 2022+ is joining the service on May 27th. Lastly, in a timely fashion for May the Fourth, LEGO Star Wars Battles and LEGO Star Wars: Castaways are also launching exclusively for Apple Arcade, the latter of which looks like it’s almost Roblox but LEGO, which seems pretty exciting.

Spokko, a member of the CD PROJEKT family, has announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer is heading to mobile devices. This will be a free to play, augmented reality, location-based RPG set in The Witcher universe.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is set before the events of The Witcher games series. Monsters are everywhere, and the new role of “witcher” is in charge of taking them down. It’s down to you to become an elite monster hunter using advanced AR features that will change your surroundings to that of the fantasy realm of The Witcher.

In Monster Slayer you can track, study and fight monsters, some of which are new and some you’ll recognise. Depending on the time of day and the real life weather conditions depends on what you’ll come across.

If you are going monster hunting though you’ll need to prepare. Preparation will include brewing potions and oils, crafting bombs and monster bait and upgrading your character. You’ll then be ready to make those monsters taste steel in first-person AR combat.

Monsters aren’t the only thing you’ll come across though. You can also take part in story-driven quests inspired by games in the series. These quests will test you as you attempt to become a professional monster slayer.

There is no release date for iOS or Android but this is due to be revealed later in the year.

For now you can have a nosey at The Witcher: Monster Slayer trailer just below this.

For puzzle fans, there are few series better to play than Professor Layton. The dapper gentleman and his young apprentice Luke first strode into the limelight on the original DS, and now the last game in the DS Trilogy is available for almost anyone to play on mobile.

“10 years after its original release on the Nintendo DS, Professor Layton and the Lost Future / Unwound Future is now on mobile devices with animation, cutscenes and puzzles all gorgeously rendered into eye-popping HD. The intuitive touch controls have also been optimised for smart devices to make solving puzzles more fun than ever.

To celebrate the release, early bird adopters can purchase the iOS/Android game at a discounted price until the 27th of July!
Fans can also enjoy the Professor Layton Trilogy Bundle pack on iOS, which has been discounted even further starting from today until the 27th of July! The pack consists of a specially-priced set of apps that includes the HD iOS versions of Curious Village, Pandora’s Box / Diabolical Box and Lost Future / Unwound Future. Note: If you already own one or more of these games on iOS, you can purchase the remainder of the bundle’s games at the difference in the reduced sale price!”

With Proffesor Layton and the Lost Future is out now on mobile, puzzle fans have no excuse not to play the charming games. The Lost Future was my favourite of the trilogy, but all 3 games are well worth playing and perfect for mobile gaming. Here’s hoping his adventure with Phoenix Wright is next for the smart phone upgrade.

Blending the lines between video game and graphic novel, interactive comic app Charisma out now on iOS and Android. With 4 series available now, including a Sherlock Holmes Vampire story, you can help shape the narrative of these gorgeous comics.

“Developed by To Play For, the interactive narrative games company, Charisma opens up with adaptations of graphic novels series from French comic book publisher Delcourt to create stunning stylised settings across titles from Sherlock Holmes and the Vampires of London and Akademy to the supernatural Shadows of the Strix to post-apocalyptic novel Centaurus.

Guy Gadney, CEO of To Play For and Charisma.ai, commented: “Once audiences have finished stories in their linear form we are seeing that they want to dive into more immersive experiences – something we term ‘vertical bingeing’ – spending time with the characters and stories they already love.

“Audiences want to get closer to the stories they love, and Charisma takes this to a new level that has only recently been possible through the creative use of natural language processing technology.”

With the success of PUBG and Fortnite on mobile, it should come as no surprise that Activision has brought Call of Duty to the App Store and Google Play store. The only surprise is that it’s taken this long, really.

In collaboration with Tencent Games and developed by their TiMi Studios, Call of Duty: Mobile brings the blockbuster franchise to mobile as a free-to-play FPS. It includes weapons, maps and iconic characters from all across the franchise, including the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series, in an all-in-one multiplayer experience with traditional head-to-head modes and an “all-new Battle Royale experience including classic locations from Call of Duty featuring land, sea and air vehicles.”

“Call of Duty: Mobile represents a landmark moment for us to bring one of the most successful entertainment franchises in history to the world’s largest platform,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “This is a triple-A, free to play experience that we’re delivering to a whole new audience of fans.”

Activision, in collaboration with Tencent, have announced that Call of Duty: Mobile will launch on October 1 in countries that support Google Play and the App Store. Unfortunately Mainland China and Vietnam aren’t included.

Call of Duty: Mobile will have fan favourite maps, modes weapons and characters from across the Call of Duty series including the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series. CoD: Mobile is being developed by Tencent’s Timi Studios and is free to play on Android and iOS.

“We are delivering the definitive, first-person action experience on mobile with signature Call of Duty gameplay in the palms of your hands,” said Chris Plummer, VP, Mobile at Activision. “We are bringing together some of the best the franchise has to offer, including Modern Warfare maps like Crash and CrossfireBlack Ops maps like Nuketown and Hijacked, and many more, into one epic title. We’ve tested the game extensively in select territories and the feedback we’ve received has helped us refine the experience for October 1st.”

CoD: Mobile will launch with multiplayer and battle royal modes with more modes, content, time limited events and playlists to be added regularly.

Multiplayer will have classic modes like Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy and Free-for-All and include some recognisable maps like Nuketown, Crash and Highjacked. As you rank up you can earn and unlock Call of Duty characters like John “Soap” McTavish and Simon “Ghost” Riley from the Modern Warfare series and Alex Mason from Black Ops. CoD: Mobile will also include weapons, score streaks and additional gear, for equipping and customizing loadouts.

The battle royale mode has been specifically built and tailored for CoD: Mobile and will have up to 100 players facing off against each other. You can do this solo, as part of a duo or as a team of 4. You will also be fighting across land, sea and air with vehicles including an ATV, helicopter, and tactical raft. You’ll also find weapons from throughout the CoD series scattered about the map.

If CoD: Mobile sounds like your kind of thing then you can sign up and pre-register at www.callofduty.com/mobile.

Zynga Inc. has today announced the worldwide launch of their brand new puzzle adventure game Mere Magic! Developed by Gram Games – the team behind Mere Dragons!, 1010!, and Six! – Mere Magic! sees you attempt to merge various creatures and match new items to win rewards that’ll unlock plenty of surprises as you play. With new graphics and engaging gameplay, Mere Magic! has you creating a range of weird and wonderful creatures such as the ‘Peacat,’ which is obviously a mix between a peacock and a cat.

“We wanted to create a new puzzle game where players can merge anything together to create unique mythical creatures that no one has ever seen before,” said Eren Yanik, Chief Product Officer of Gram Games. “The possibilities are rousing in Merge Magic!, taking our signature ‘match and hatch’ gameplay to bewitching new heights, offering players lots of depth in exploration and immersing them throughout their journey. Our future in-game events will also offer the community different ways to interact and enjoy the gameplay, not least of all our planned events for this coming autumn and Halloween”.

Discovering enchanted tales and quests in the mysterious world of Mythia will be your goal, combining everything into better and more powerful items throughout your journey. It’s up to you to lift the curse on Mythia and you’ll have to merge a whole manner of things to do so, whether it’s eggs, treasures, magical flowers, trees, or magical creatures.

“Merge Magic! transports players to fantastical new worlds where they will discover mythical creatures like the powerful unicorn and feisty fairy and create never-before-seen hybrids like combining an elephant and a butterfly to make a butterphant,” said Bernard Kim, President of Publishing at Zynga. “Players will find hours of enjoyment in discovering magical objects, creating creatures, and lifting curses on mysterious new realms.”

There’re witches ready to stop you in your tracks, mythical creatures like fairies, unicorns, and minotaurs, and frequent events you’ll be able to participate in and win advanced beings to take back to your garden. You can download Mere Magic! now on iOS and Android.

Instead of just releasing last year’s game with a few lineup changes Konami are bringing all the licences for the console version to the mobile game, as well as bringing new gameplay features like Finesse Dribble and better AI behaviour. Another big console feature to come to mobile will be the Matchday feature which sees you choose a side and have your contribution go towards your team’s overall success.

If you’re a current PES Mobile player some data will copy over to the new game when it releases.

It’s official, Team Rocket has finally arrived in Pokémon GO in the shape of Team GO Rocket.

As you walk around playing Pokémon GO now you will notice Pokéstops where the cube on top is behaving erratically, approaching these you’ll find a Team GO Rocket Grunt that you can challenge and hopefully beat. These Team GO Rocket goons are using Shadow Pokémon, these are Pokémon that Team GO Rocket has tried to unnaturally make stronger causing them to take on a different appearance.

Once you’ve beaten a member of Team GO Rocket you’ll have the option to catch a Shadow Pokémon, and unfortunately you cannot transfer these to Professor Willow. What you’ll need to do is purify these Pokémon before you can transfer them, however, you might want to keep hold of them as purified Pokémon get stat boosts and may result in stronger final evolved forms.

Anyway, get out there and get battling trainers, those Pokémon need you!

Most people love cross-platform gaming, especially in the wake of Fortnite’s massive success, but it looks like Microsoft may be going one step further as it is reportedly looking at bringing some form of Xbox Live to other platforms, including Nintendo Switch.

This is all coming about due to Microsoft’s plans for GDC 2019, as it plans to detail a new SDK that will enable developers to “connect players across platforms.”

“Xbox Live is one of the largest, most engaged gaming communities on the planet with decades of experience providing managed game services to developers that save you time and unlock all of the social and engagement features that players love.

Now Xbox Live is about to get MUCH bigger. Xbox Live is expanding from 400M gaming devices and a reach to over 68M active players to over 2B devices with the release of our new cross-platform XDK.

Get a first look at the SDK to enable game developers to connect players between iOS, Android, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any game in the Microsoft Store on Windows PCs.”

This could potentially be a game-changer, especially following Minecraft’s massive cross-platform initiative, so we’ll keep you updated on any developments when GDC 2019 takes place from March 18th.

Thanks Screenrant.

If you’re like our resident screenshot expert Nicola, you might love sharing your screenshots and videos on the likes of Instagram or Twitter. You might like nothing more than to show off your photo mode skills (wait, do people still use “skillz” these days?) online, or simply share a funny video of that stunt-gone-wrong.

Well, chances are you’ll also know how much of a pain it can be. While it’s true that the Xbox One UI has improved immensely since launch, arguably becoming the best and most user-friendly at this point, there are still cracks that show from time to time, and a rather large crack is how awkward it is to share your captures online.

Some people have been using the XboxDVR site, but said site also has an app now. Available for iOS and Android, the XboxDVR App allows you to find, share and even edit your captures through your phone or tablet. It should be noted that this isn’t an official Xbox app however, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Thanks to mspoweruser.com.

Free to play online action RPG Dauntless is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Mobile devices in 2019.

The game’s transition to other devices from PC was announced at last night’s Game Award ceremony (where God of War picked up the game of the year award). The game will arrive on PS4 and Xbox One in April while Switch and mobile devices will get their versions later in the year.

Along with this the game’s developers Phoenix Labs announced that the game’s newest update Frostfall was now live, and that the game now has a new Behemoth to hunt called Valomyr. Another addition is the ability to buy what’s called a Hunt Pass for $10, granting you activities and challenges to complete that reward you with exclusive items.

Additionally, Phoenix Labs believe this multi-platform launch will allow them to fulfil their vision of a ‘One Dauntless’, essentially a complete cross-platform play and progression management. How this will work with Sony’s reticence remains to be seen.

The game is free on iOS and Android, but as yet there’s no confirmation of pricing for the PC version, I’m sure this will come in future. In the meantime check out the trailer below.

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds gets a first person viewpoint today, as well as a few other bits and bobs for your pleasure.

Basically, if third person shooting isn’t your thing, and you prefer your bang bang a bit more up close and personal you can switch to the new first person mode and have at it. The new update for the mobile version of the first Battle Royale shooter also brings an Arcade mode called Mini Zone, this mode drops 100 players into a smaller area but with three times the weapons, these skirmishes are expected to last around twenty minutes.

Also in this new update is an armory, allowing players to check and compare weapon stats and performance data, there’s also a Royale Pass where players need to do missions to earn points and increase their rank to earn crates. The person with the highest Royale Pass level can choose where the starting airplane finishes its path. Finally, players have a whole new load of gestures and movements to perform in game.

The new update is available right now.

Apple’s latest conference came and went yesterday with a lot of social media focus on the new memojis, but Apple TV got some time too.

Apple TV 4K is getting a tvOS 12 update alongside iOS devices getting their 12 update later this year, and with it will come a bunch of improvements and additions including – as the headline states – Dolby Atmos support

Apple TV 4K has been around for a while now and is bolstering it’s 4K library with even more show and movie content as time goes by, many people will have noticed that some of their existing libraries have been freely upgraded to 4K content. Now with Dolby Atmos support those people will find titles once again freely upgraded, should they support Dolby Atmos.

In the US cable provider Charter Communications will begin offering Apple TV 4K to their customers as part of their service, along with iPhones and iPads, using the new Spectrum TV app on their devices they’ll have access to more TV than they could ever wish for, I don’t know how they’ll manage it, I can barely get through all the Netflix shows I want to watch.

New features coming with iOS and tvOS 12 will include being able to auto fill passwords on Apple TV from your iOS device, and an Apple TV remote added onto the iOS control centre.

Originally released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, adventure game The Pillars of the Earth now makes its way to iOS devices with Book 1: From the Ashes.

Available for $4.99/£4.99/€5.49 for the first part, the conversion of the entire trilogy is underway, but the minimum requirements are the iPhone 6s and the iPad Air 2, so I hope you have a relatively up to date device.

The beautiful hand painted backgrounds and character animation has made it across intact, with the only changes being to adapt the controls for a touchscreen. You’ll type and swipe as you explore 12th century England as Jack, Aliena and Brother Philipp as they try to build the gothic Cathedral of Kingsbridge. Here’s a few bullet points from the blurb if you’re interested:

  • An interactive, changing plot, which is affected by the player.
  • The complete story from the PC and console version with adaptations of the controls and icons.
  • Over 200 hand-drawn backgrounds which faithfully depict life in 12th century England.
  • Three playable main characters and two more playable characters.
  • An orchestral soundtrack from the FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague.

All the series’ biggest beasties will make an appearance, from raptors to the Mosasaurus, while a mode on the Jurassic World table will turn the balls into Gyrospheres.

The tables look great and will also feature dialogue from the films to enhance the experience, I guess it’s plain to see that Zen Studios have spared no expense.

It will have 2 player co-op as well. Kepa Auwae, Co-Founder of Rocketcat Games, commented on the upcoming ports:

“We believe Death Road To Canada is perfectly suited to be played in both the home and on the go. Single player is great of course, but the local co-op mode brings a slower, more tactical pace to the game.
