Konami has announced that eFootball is set to get a mode back many had missed, all as part of celebrating it’s 28th anniversary. The celebrations are going to run from June 29th until July 27th, and will include various campaigns, giveaways, and challenges.

As part of the announcement for the eFootball updates, Konami has reminded us all that it’s been 28 years since “Goal Storm” launched (on December 22nd, 1995), before it turned into Superstar Soccer (1997 until 2001), then obviously it became Pro Evolution Soccer (2001 – 2021). Interestingly, there was no note of it being also known as Winning Eleven, but that was for the Japanese market, but many of us remember it that way, as well as PES.

Anyway, onto the celebrations for the current game, obviously now known as eFootball. Here’s the info, direct from the press release:

Co-op returns with rewards

After its Beta Test conducted between 8th – 22nd June, Co-op mode will again return on 29th June, meaning users can once again link up online and take on fellow users from around the world.

An in-game campaign related to Co-op will start on 13th July. Play a certain number of games and there will be some rewards in store too!

Campaign: Challenges galore

Throughout the celebration period, there will be a number of challenges for users to compete in and earn some serious prizes.

The ‘Legend Challenge Event’ will see users have to take on the various club champions from Europe’s top leagues including SSC Napoli and FC Barcelona.

The ‘Golden Goal Challenge Event’ will see users take on other users but with the twist of playing for the Golden Goal – a classic footballing format from yesteryear!

Campaign: The eFootball Festival

eFootball Festival

Users can claim a variety of rewards during the 4-week celebration period including a mixture of Epic Players, Show Time contracts, a potential total of 440,000 GP, and up to 200 Coins.

eFootball is out now and free to play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It also has a mobile version.

Six Days in Fallujah finally hits Steam Early Access in June https://www.godisageek.com/2023/05/six-days-in-fallujah/ Wed, 31 May 2023 15:18:24 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=278419 The long war

The post Six Days in Fallujah finally hits Steam Early Access in June appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The long awaited tactical combat sim, Six Days in Fallujah, is finally arriving in Steam Early Access on June 22, more than 15 years after development originally began. There are teenagers who literally weren’t born when this game was cancelled back in 2009 by Konami admitst backlash that it glorified the horrors of a very real, and then very recent, war.

Development originally began just months after the Second Battle of Fallujah, a conflict in the Middle East that started in November 2004 between US and American forces and Al Qaeda. Despite the game being the brainchild of a wounded marine and the involvement of over 100 US marines and even several dozen Iraqi soldiers, the negative buzz around the game led to its cancellation.

In 2017, publisher Victura restarted development with Highwire Games, to finally bring the game to life. In the words of Sgt. Eddie Garcia, the marine who conceived of the idea: “The way we play video games right now is not how people fight in real life. Six Days in Fallujah requires tactics and teamwork that are more like real combat than any other game I’ve played.”

To facilitate this lean towards a more realistic, cerebral experience, Six Days in Fallujah will boast:

• Procedural Architecture re-shapes the inside and outside of every building each time the game is played. Just like the real battle, players never know what to expect.

• Block-scale AI is a dramatic new approach to AI based on insurgent tactics from the battle. Unlike games in which AI is constrained to move in very small areas, AI enemies can go anywhere on the battlefield, and they will stalk, flank, and ambush players while coordinating their attacks with each other and luring players into difficult situations.

• Global Dynamic Lighting simulates real weather and lighting effects dynamically, so visibility shapes gameplay, especially as players move between blindingly bright outdoors and terrifyingly dark indoors. Realistic smoke, dust, and weather effects complicate visibility in unpredictable ways.

• Tactical Indoor/Outdoor Sandbox. Players, and their AI enemies, are free to approach challenges from any direction. Rather than breaching a house through a front door, for example, players might choose to climb to a rooftop, or cross rooftops on wooden planks, to attack from the top down.

Early access will begin with limited content focusing on the early days of the battle. But Highwire promise more features to come during the period, including cooperative play and the option to choose either US marines or Iraqi soldiers. Victura also plan to additional co-op missions as well as campaign missions that focus on stories told by real veterans of the conflict.

Six Days in Fallujah will launch on Steam Early Access on June 22, 2023 for the price of $39.99. The full release on PC and console is set for some time in 2024, but no concrete date has been given.

Konami and Genvid Entertainment have released a new trailer for Silent Hill: Ascension, the streaming series that’s coming out later this year. The show plans to feature multiple main characters and will involve fans while also being an official, canonical entry into the Silent Hill universe.

The series will feature “terrifying Silent Hill monsters”, and appears to involve fan interactions that will effect who lives and dies. Konami says that “even the project’s creators do not know” how the show will end, as the fate of everyone is in the audience’s hands.

Check out the trailer for the new interactive series, below:

“Silent Hill: Ascension will captivate audiences with its immersive experience, spotlighting stunning visuals and live community-driven moments, all while exploring the psychological horror that has made the Silent Hill series so beloved by fans worldwide,” said Jacob Navok, CEO of Genvid Entertainment. “By participating in Silent Hill: Ascension you will leave your legacy in the canon of SILENT HILL. And, in collaboration with Konami Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Games and Behaviour Interactive, we’re offering fans the unique chance to become part of the story themselves”.

Motoi Okamoto, a producer for the game series said: “Silent Hill fans and horror audiences everywhere have a lot to look forward to. We are pleased to tell a new interactive story, in never-before-explored locations, alongside new characters that will be introduced to fans of the Silent Hill universe. It is you who will decide the fate of multiple main characters, which will unfold simultaneously around the globe”.

Chris Amaral, Art Director at Bad Robot Games also added that: “We’ve gone the extra mile to create a dreamlike world in Silent Hill: Ascension with disturbing, hyper-detailed characters, other-worldly monsters, immersive atmospheres, and an overall audio and visual design that our team is very proud of. The detailed environments, the eerie ambiance, and the realistic characters and monsters should really enhance the horror experience, creating something that is pure Silent Hill, while also feeling unique for the franchise”.

Silent Hill: Ascension is coming later this year to streaming services. A Silent Hill 2 remake is also in development by Bloober Team.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater announced, original trilogy releasing in Autumn https://www.godisageek.com/2023/05/metal-gear-solid-delta-snake-eater-announced-original-trilogy-releasing-in-autumn/ Thu, 25 May 2023 01:19:03 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=278044 I'm still in a dream

The post Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater announced, original trilogy releasing in Autumn appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The long-awaited return of the Metal Gear Solid series has finally been announced, as Konami revealed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase. The remake of MGS3 came as somewhat of a surprise, given the trailer only revealed the game’s protagonist, Naked Snake, right at the end.

Discover the origin story of iconic military operative Snake and begin to unravel the plot of the legendary Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater brings unprecedented new graphics, immersive stealth action gameplay and sounds to its riveting story as players once again return to the world of Metal Gear.

The trailer (which you can watch below), pans across a colony of ants as they crawl towards a dead frog, soon picked up by a bird. As it lands on top of a floating log, an anaconda and a crocodile go to war as the camera disappears underwater, only to re-emerge on land to reveal Snake in all his wonderful glory. Konami revealed that the original voices are set to return, and that along with the PS5, it will also be coming to Xbox and PC.

The story follows Naked Snake during the Cold War as he searches for his mentor who has allegedly defected to the Soviet Union. The prospects for the remake are more than exciting. We keep imagining how good that boss battle with The End will play out, or what our first interactions with Boss and Ocelot will be like. Time will tell!

As well as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater being announced, the original trilogy of MGS, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, and MGS3: Snake Eater, will be coming to PlayStation this Autumn. It’s interesting to note that this collection is being called Volume 1, alluding to the fact there could be more re-releases down the line. More details are sure to be announced in the coming months, both for the re-releases and the brand new remake, but Konami did share this on their official website:

We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved instalments of the METAL GEAR series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER. We are working hard for METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.

Simultaneously, we will deliver the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.

The post Super Bomberman R 2 is coming this September with more modes than ever appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Konami has announced that Super Bomberman R 2 is coming to PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, Steam, and Switch on September 14th. This is the title that the publisher says has the “most amount of gameplay content in the series”, and will include an all-new single player adventure where you’ll have to save the galaxy from Dark Moon.

Available for pre-order now, Super Bomberman R 2 will be available one day earlier on September 13th if you grab the digital version, while it’s the physical version that hits retail on September 14th. You can check out the trailer, below, along with the story blurb.

The Black Moon starship ravages across the galaxy destroying the cities on the planets it visits. As the threat looms across the universe once again, can the 8 Bomber Brothers and their new friends, the Ellons, save the universe and keep the peace?

Here’s the list of battle modes, directly from the press release:

  • Castle: Fight in 1 vs 15 asymmetrical matches online in this new attack vs. defend battle mode! A defending player is tasked with creating a map and placing defensive traps to slow down the offense. Different terrain options, wall placements, defensive gimmicks and the help of new character types called “Ellons” are at the defending player’s disposal. The attacking side must blow through the defender’s gimmicks to reach all the treasure chests and win!
  • Battle 64: Be the last player standing in this battle royal classic. This chaotic mode features 64 players, but only one can come out victorious.
  • Grand Prix: Compete for crystals and knock out other players. Team battles are a blast in this game mode.
  • Standard: The beloved classic battle mode from Super Bomberman R 1 and Super Bomberman Online returns.

On top of that there will also be a stage editor so fans of the series can make their own levels and share online in the Castle Battle Mode, so it’s a bit like Super Mario Maker in the respect that, if you love Bomberman, there’s now endless Bomberman for you to enjoy.

It’s also worth noting Konami has confirmed that cross-play will be be included with this one, so you don’t have to stick to a set platform to play with friends, which is nice.

Super Bomberman R 2 will be released on September 13th digitally, and September 14th physically.

Silent Hill 2 dev responds to rumours the game is nearly done https://www.godisageek.com/2023/03/silent-hill-2-dev-responds-to-rumours-the-game-is-nearly-done/ Wed, 29 Mar 2023 09:04:28 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=275715 Short version is that it isn't about to come out.

The post Silent Hill 2 dev responds to rumours the game is nearly done appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Fans of Silent Hill can be excited to know that Konami is still investing in the series, with a remake of Silent Hill 2 on the way. The game is being developed by horror-specialists Bloober Team (best known for Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, The Medium, and the upcoming Layers of Fears), and rumours had been circulating that the game was way further along in the development stage than people realise: in fact, the scuttlebutt was that it was pretty much done and ready for release.

However, this isn’t the case, and despite most developers rarely responding to such rumours, Bloober Team has decided to make a statement on Twitter, and deal with the comments that have been swirling.

Check out the full statement, below:

As the Bloober Team, we don’t comment on rumours. However, this time we need to take the floor, as some recent statements have been taken out of context, due to inaccurate translations. Our company’s messages did not contain sales forecasts of specific titles. The figures connected to Silent Hill 2 refer to the potential success of the type of games we will be focusing on in the the future.

It is also not true that we have announced that Silent Hill 2 is ready for release. Regardless of the development stage, all our activities are focused on obtaining the highest quality for the finished product — the quality that fans of Silent Hill 2 deserve. We are aware that players are waiting for more information about Silent Hill 2. As soon as such information becomes available, we are sure that Konami, the publisher for the game, will share it with fans.

Thank you for your support and we will continue to do our best to provide high-quality games that give players the best emotional experience possible.

The comments regarding translation are about Bloober Team CEO, Piotr Babieno, who was quoted by PAP Biznes (via Bankier) and translated via Google Translate as saying the game “is technically ready. It does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close”.

Basically, reading between the lines, you can see that all of the current marketing Bloober is doing is related to Layers of Fears, which is due this year. With the remake announced in October 2022, you can be pretty sure it’s probably not coming in 2023, but hey, stranger things have happened.

So there you have it. No news to share, and the game isn’t imminent.

Back to the trial mode, the official word is as follows:

Step onto the pitch as Manchester United FC, Internazionale Milano, FC Barcelona or any of their respective league rivals when you play offline or with friends online in “Friend Match” mode.

The follow-up to the thrilling international break, eFootball 2023’s Season 3: “Back to the Clubs” continues with a series of in-game campaigns and events to be held coinciding with Carnivale in Brazil and the season kick-off of the J-League. eFootball 2023 embraces the vibrant revelry of Carnivale in Brazil and celebrates with its players login bonuses leading to the acquisition of a Brazilian football legend in a Legendary “Chance Deal” for their “Dream Team”!

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the J-League, legends and current players representing Japan are up for grabs!

Lastly the patch notes (found here) for version 2.4 explain the gameplay tweaks that Konami says are part of the steps taken to make a connection between the company and the fans. The developer says that the updates made “reflect the feedback from our online community including changes to graphics and gameplay. In this update, there are also improvements to dribbling response and manoeuvrability. Users can adjust ball touch immediately after trapping and improve response of the play and others”.

eFootball 2023 is available now, and is free to play.

Konami has announced a new eFootball tournament in the world of esports, and it’s focussed on Italy and the partner clubs within.

The developer says that this eFootball Italia is focused on “partner clubs, their youth players, professional esports players, and – most importantly – their fans”. And rather than try to explain it myself, here’s the official word on what the tournament is:

The ‘Coppa eFootball Italia’ represents a new esports venture for Konami and the football simulation gaming arena. The tournament will see the integration of three different players forming a team to represent each of the competing clubs. These are: A selected Youth team player; A professional esports player currently part of their existing squad; A club fan who wins an online qualification tournament.

This unique team composition of elite and grassroots esports players alongside the youth selection sees a melding of club representatives unlike anything seen on the current football simulation esports landscape.

There will be seven partner clubs from Italy taking part, as follows: AC Milan, AC Monza, AS Roma, Atalanta BC, Inter Milan, SS Lazio, and SSC Napoli.

Here’s how the actual competition will work:

Prior to the seven clubs taking each other on for the ‘Coppa eFootball Italia’ title, there be the selection processes for their three representatives.

Firstly, each club will hold an internal esports tournament between their Youth team players to determine a representative. This will come alongside a seminar from the Konami eFootball Activations team providing an insight into the ever-evolving world of esports and video gaming.

Secondly, there will also be an internal tournament at each club between their respective esports players to determine who will represent them as part of the tripartite.

Thirdly, eFootball will run an online in-game tournament for all gamers within Italy called the ‘KONAMICI’ this will be an Italian-only event within eFootball 2023. Players can register to compete online with the tournament lasting two weeks in total.

Players do not have to have played eFootball prior to this and can participate with no experience of the game. Each club fan can register online and select the club which they hope to represent.
From here, they will play a minimum of 30 online matches against fellow club fans, collecting points as they progress before the online ranking determines the top representatives.

The top ranked fans from each club will then progress to a club specific fan knock out bracket, also played online. The winning fan representative for each club will thus complete the three-part team alongside the Youth team and esports players who will go on to represent their respective club in the ‘Coppa eFootball Italia’.

It’s worth noting that the tournament will only be taking place on PS4 and PS5 (still free to play elsewhere, however), and that the winner will be able to represent their club in an “internationally broadcast esports tournament but will receive a series of unique experiences and prizes from both KONAMI and their chosen club”.

eFootball 2023 is out now, and free to play on all formats.

Konami has announced that eFootball 2023 season 2 has officially started, and will bring with it new features and teams.

The update will add 40 (forty!) national teams, all of which can be selected for a limited time in trial match (offline) and Dream Team (online). There will also be The International Cup Experience added to eFootball 2023 season 2, which is an AI tournament allowing players to control one of the 46 available national teams, and there’s also the eFootball International Cup, which will eventually culminate in a prize pool of one billion in-game coins being shared out.

Trial Match, the offline mode will allow the national teams to be played from Weds, November 16th up to “mid-February 2023”.

To celebrate the unusual but exciting global football calendar of 2022, “The International Cup Experience” comes to eFootball 2023. This will allow players from 46 countries to compete against the AI and compete in groups stages and consequential knock-out rounds to reach the summit of the world football.

This will last from between Thursday, 17th November and Thursday, 12th January 2023.

This comes alongside the already underway “eFootball International Cup” where users can be part of winning a split of over 1 billion eFootball™ coins!

The “eFootball International Cup” has been running since Thursday, 20th October and will conclude on Saturday, 17th December.

So that people can get the national team players, there will be more packs available, as follows:

  • National Team Pack: France ‘22 [Premium]
  • National Team Pack: Argentina ‘22 [Premium]
  • National Team Pack: Brazil ‘22 [Premium]
  • National Team Pack: Japan ‘22 [Premium]

Each national team will include a “Big Time” card, which is essentially a legendary player like Maradona or Neymar Jr.

Konami says that “these players can be past or present and celebrate some of the individuals’ finest moments out on the pitch with a special card design. All to allow users to potentially recreate these moments (or do better) in-game on eFootball 2023”.

The feature is now available across platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and PC Steam devices.

But that’s not all, there are also new club backs that are aiming to help bolster Dream Team squads. Konami says: “eFootball will see the introduction of four new Club Packs from official partner clubs including FC Barcelona, Manchester United, FC Bayern Münich, and Arsenal”.

Konami has announced that it has extended the partnership between the publisher, eFootball, and Arsenal, a club that’s long been fully licensed in the series.

This will see a continuation of an agreement which started in July 2017, and now extends into a long-term partnership from the 2022-23 season onwards.

Chief Commercial Officer at Arsenal, Juliet Slot, said: ‘Konami’s eFootball provides a unique football experience. “We’re proud to extend our partnership and give our supporters the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic Arsenal experience.

“Arsenal and Konami both aspire to be at the forefront of fan engagement. I’m excited for us to work together to strengthen our collaboration and take our partnership to a new level, building on our shared values and giving our supporters more great opportunities to connect with their club.”

Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment European President, commented: “It is very exciting to be announcing an extension to such a successful partnership. Arsenal are a massive club and have been a core part of our partnership roster over the past few years.

“To have secured a long-term future that will include a multitude of commercial, image, and esports rights and activations is fantastic for KONAMI and for the eFootball series as it keeps growing, and we strive to set football free”.

eFootball is available now on all formats (except Switch) and is free-to-play.

The post EFootball will have Inter Milan as an exclusive from July 2024 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Konami has today announced an exclusive partnership with Inter Milan, meaning the Italian giants will feature solely eFootball moving forward. The deal is a multi-year partnership that will incorporate a range of elements in and out of the eFootball series. The partnership itself will incorporate many different commercial, imagery, and activation rights.

These will include:

  • Global Football Video Game Partner status
  • Training Kit Back Partner status (which will feature the eFootball branding)
  • Youth Development Centre Partner status – with the facility set to be known as “KONAMI Youth Development Centre in memory of Giacinto Facchetti”

The partnership will also see the club feature within the eFootball™ series from version 2.0.0 onwards. This will see the featuring of authentic kits, the newly branded training kit, and the infamous San Siro stadium in-game. The partnership will see Inter Milan feature exclusively within eFootball and no other video game from July 2024. This means Inter Milan is now almost certain to not feature in future EA Football titles once the FIFA license expires after FIFA 23, given the July 2024 deadline. It’s not clear how long this exclusivity deal will run and therefore how many seasons of football titles it will impact.

Alongside a host of branding and commercial rights, Inter Milan will also integrate themselves within the array of eSports tournaments and activations that Konami runs, including the eFootball Championship Pro, the most recent edition of which concluded last weekend.

Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.’s European President had this to say regarding the deal:

Adding a club the stature of Inter Milan to our cohort of partner clubs is very exciting for Konami With the naming rights to the Youth Development Centre, the eFootball branding on the team’s training kit, and their involvement in our ever-expanding portfolio of eSports activations, we at Konami know that this partnership will bring us many successes now and for the long-term.

eFootball 2022 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android devices.

Konami has announced the championship for eFootball 2022 will be taking place this June, and will make use of the new game mode “Dream Team”.

The championship was formerly known as eFootball League, and allows anyone from a beginner to the elite to take part. While Konami says there will be more information on this coming, and indeed on eFootball 2022 as future updates are announced, the official word is as follows:

Two competitions will be held: one will be “eFootball Championship Pro 2022”, which is the professional league esports players who contracted with European professional football clubs will participate in; The other, “eFootball Championship Open 2022”, is an esports competition in which players of all abilities will be able to participate in.

The professional players in “eFootball Championship Pro” and regular players in the “eFootball Championship Open” will be competing via the new game mode “Dream Team”.

The eFootball Championship Pro 2022

The 2022 pro championship is launching in June. That’s the professional league that esports contracted to European football clubs can take part in. Professional players will be selected from the world top players and will compete 1v1 within eFootball™ 2022’s new mode “Dream Team” to win the league. All games will be streamed online all over the world.

Qualifiers for the eFootball 2022 Championship Open

Qualifiers for the 2022 Championship Open are also starting in June. “eFootball Championship Open 2022” is the largest official eSports tournament using the eFootball 2022 series in which users all over the world can participate.

Users will not need to enter at Round 1, which will be started from June 2022. All users are able to enjoy just by participating in the relevant in-game challenge event.

During previous seasons, over 8 million users worldwide participated in the aforementioned “eFootball.Open”.

Utilising the “Dream Team” game mode, the top-scoring players will earn the right to participate in higher and higher levels of the competition, culminating in “World Finals”, in which the No.1 player will be crowned. The world finals will be streamed online all over the world.

The post eFootball 2022 version 1.0 is now available worldwide appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Nearly six months after eFootball 2022 was released, the free-to-play football game has hit version 1.0, which is to say it’s the first “proper” version of the game.

Available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam, eFootball 2022 brings with it a host of new features, updates, and fixes.

There’s a massive amount of information to get through, so let’s get the newly released trailer out there, first, shall we?

Along with the new “Dream Team” mode that was previously known as “Creative Team” (a mode very similar to FIFA 22’s Ultimate Team), there are a load of new gameplay changes, detailed below:

Player and Ball Behaviour

Player and ball behaviour, on which football is based upon, have been rebuilt from the ground up. With the help of research institutes in Japan, ball trajectories have been improved. The behaviour of the ball on the pitch was analysed and the factors that affect the behaviour was identified. Based on the results of this research, more realistic ball trajectories in this work have been reproduced. From dipping shots and bending crosses, to top-spin through balls and ricochets from blocked shots — users can now experience realistic ball behaviour within many different scenarios.

Natural player behaviours, and ball behaviours that take rotation, bounce, and friction into account. All of these elements help create the “moment of suspense” that are often experienced in modern football. When dribbling past opponents and breaking through the last line of defence with passing plays, these are the factors that give the exhilaration football fans desire.

Tactical Team Battles

In addition to individual player behaviour, engaging in tactical battles by including teamplay elements that are prevalent in modern-day football has also become possible. Individual and team — the bases for these elements have been restructured so that “familiar” scenarios in real-world football will now be replicated throughout matches. Ultimately, these changes made it possible to create a football game in which “football-like” decisions at any given moment could be the deciding factor between winning and losing.

eFootball 2022 “Stunning Kick”

This is one of the most ground-breaking mechanisms that have been incorporated in the game. Low passes, lofted passes, and crosses alike; now users can play all kinds of incisive passes using “Stunning Kicks”. The feeling of making that decisive pass, and the sense of achievement when players break down the opposition, has never been any greater.

Types of Stunning Pass

  • Stunning Low Pass: A powerful pass aimed towards the feet of the receiving teammate. The ball will tend to float for passes of longer distance.
  • Stunning Lofted Pass: A lower and pacier pass compared to a normal lofted pass.
  • Stunning Through Ball: A speedier version of the normal Through Ball, that will tend to end closer to the receiver’s feet
  • Stunning Chipped Through Ball: Pacier than the normal Chipped Through Ball, with a slightly lowered trajectory. Furthermore, the ball will tend to end closer to the receiver’s feet than usual.
  • Stunning Cross: A slightly lowered and speedier cross. It will also carry a stronger curl.
  • Stunning Low Cross: Speedier and with more whip than the normal Low Cross, the ball will also tend to bounce just in front of the receiver when applied

Stunning Shots

  • Pacier and more accurate than the normal shots, with a myriad of shot trajectories on offer
With this update, players can now use Stunning Shots to attempt different types of shots depending on the players’ Skills, such as
  • Dipping Shot, Knuckle Shot, and Rising Shot.
  • As with all Stunning Kicks, it takes the player more time to wind up the shot, creating a risk/reward element, so needs a strategy to create space and free allies

Pass-and-run (Cross Over)

The new “Pass-and-run (Cross Over)” enables combinations through “diagonal movements” that are often seen in real-world football. New offensive patterns are created in the center of the pitch and on the flanks.

eFootball 2022 defensive Tactics and Changes in Command Settings

On this update, the defensive command settings have been changed so that the ball can be taken away intuitively. Player behaviour has also been enhanced to make defensive plays more satisfying. Furthermore, team defending elements have also been added to the game to ensure that the best outcomes can be achieved by making the right decisions based on the football ideologies.

Pressure

  • This is a command in which users can win the ball back proactively
  • Players will move towards the ball and once they are within reach of the ball, they will then perform a standing tackle

Match-up

  • Tricky dribblers can be managed by using “Match-up”, a defensive option that allows the user to careful track and contain the opposition rather than proactively trying to win the ball back
  • By driving the opponent to the side while keeping the body facing the defender, user can bide time and wait for an opportune moment to take back possession of the ball

Call for Pressure

  • A new addition to the game as a part of this update, “Call for Pressure” is a command in which the entire team will work in tandem to recover possession
  • Utilizing this feature triggers a teammate to pressure the ball carrier, allowing the user to choose to cover space or double up

There’s plenty more that’s new to the game, as well as new licenses from Japan and North America, in the form of Meiji Yasuda J1 League, Meiji Yasuda J2 League, MLS Players Association *”MLSPA” players will appear in the “American League” in-game, and the USL Championship.

The post eFootball 2022 features some impressive gameplay changes | Hands-off preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

When the announcement happened about PES no longer existing, I was a little disappointed. While FIFA has more often that not been the better football game, Konami still had a great property on their hand. After learning a bit more about what their new venture was, the core gameplay appears to be much of the same. eFootball 2022 is very much Pro Evolution Soccer, except this time it’s free-to-play. The details are still slim in terms of the live service it’ll provide, but the gameplay is on full display.

I recently watched a hands-off preview hosted by director of football data & scouting at Konami, Klaus Ganer. I got to hear a rundown of the new gameplay features in eFootball 2022, as well as some other tidbits of information. While a lot of what was said felt like buzzwords and minor improvements to the already stellar football series, there were some genuinely exciting announcements. The main two revolved around a new camera angle and the inclusion of rising and dipping power shots.

eFootball 2022 preview: some big changes and additions

The new dual camera zooms in when a player has the ball. After a long cross, pass, or dribble, the camera pans out a little to see the pitch. It looks fluid in transition, but also provides a more immersive viewpoint. Seeing how this looks when actually playing might not be as smooth, but it certainly looks fantastic. On the whole, player animations and authentic pitches, tunnels, and dressing rooms are stunning. Watching Manchester United vs Juventus at the end of the presentation made me giddy. Seeing Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood, and Fernandes together will be a thing of beauty.

There’re always tweaks to gameplay, but the rising and dipping shot looks like a much-needed feature. It allows players to take control of incoming balls much better. With dynamic ball movement, long balls across the pitch will have more variety and outcomes. Watching Marcus Rashford take a shot on goal and see it dip behind the keeper looked cool. I’m very much excited to be able to do it for myself. It was in these passes and shots where eFootball 2022 seemed genuinely different to its predecessor.

Driving the ball through

A new driven through ball looked sublime, especially as I’m a huge fan of playing the ball in front of my strikers. Sharp kicks can open up attacking options and provide new routes to the goal line with a press of R2/RT. 1v1 duels have been reworked, now based on the speed of a player both on and off the ball. Iniesta is the prototype for attacking duels, which will provide players with full freedom dribbling past defenders. Pique has been selected as the defensive prototype, with Konami using his natural ability to offer a range of defensive options.

On PlayStation 5, Konami are taking full advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, especially when it comes to ball touch. Ganer said players would feel every touch and pass. Obviously, it’s hard to know this without having a controller in my hand, but it’s nice to know it’s happening. There’re also a range of new tactics for players to make use of in game, such as quick counters to force turnovers, and long ball counters to break deep defensive lines. These tactics help when attacking and after gaining possession, as well as when defending and losing possession.

eFootball 2022 looks stunning. As mentioned earlier, the authentic parts of the changing rooms and tunnels look wonderful, but the action itself is a thing to behold. One of the moments when Mason Greenwood got challenged really impressed me. Despite taking a knock, her recovered his footing and crossed into the box. It looked natural and unique, as if there’re so many more animations this time around.

I’m looking forward to playing eFootball 2022. Despite it being free-to-play, the gameplay looks as though it has been greatly improved. The small changes look impactful, with more big alterations as opposed to a tweak here and there. Visually, it’s gorgeous. I’ve always been an astute follower of PES, and I hope they make the big changes to compete with FIFA once again.

The post GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon gets a major update appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

Konami has announced today that GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon has received its second major update, which includes new stage Subspace Citadel. The Subspace Citadel is an ancient castle designed to keep unwanted guests at bay with its many tricks and traps.

With this new stage also comes a new boss to conclude it; Daidarabotchi, a possessed being with a body more massive than a mountain. New enemies Tenaga-Ashinaga and Shishi Gashira will also appear in Subspace Citadel.

Another big change in this update comes in the form of the newly added Hall of Treasures feature. The Hall of Treasures, accessed via the Getsu Clan Estate, is where players will be able to view the Battle Record. This gives players more information on enemies they have previously defeated.

About GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon

After 1,000 years of peace, the seal to the gate of hell has been ripped open and a flood of evil spirits have been released into the world. As it stands at the brink of destruction, Getsu Fuma must take on the helm as the leader of his clan and delve into the pits of hell to rip out the evil at its core.

GetsuFumaDen features roguevania 2D action with a dark fantasy world, brought to life through the stroke of traditional Japanese art. Players will descend into the Ukiyo-e style stages of the underworld while mastering an arsenal of weapons and equipment that can be paired to suit a variety of playstyles.

GetsuFumaDen features highly strategic combat based on the spacing and timing aspects unique to Japanese martial arts. Fearsome bosses and ever-changing layouts will challenge players while allowing them to grow stronger with each attempt.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is currently available on Steam via Early Access.

The best (and worst) Aliens games so far https://www.godisageek.com/2021/08/the-best-and-worst-aliens-games-so-far/ Mon, 02 Aug 2021 15:06:20 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=253821 Game Over, man.

The post The best (and worst) Aliens games so far appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

I was born in 1979, and had the kind of liberal parents who allowed me to be scarred for life early doors. And I mean that in a good way, of course. I was allowed to absorb pop culture, films and art however I chose. This comes a fair way to explaining my lifelong love of action and sci-fi flicks, as my formative years were a golden age dominated by Arnie, arcades, Rambo, board games, pirate videos and American wrestling.

One of the iconic franchises from back then also gave me my lifelong fear of being impregnated and subsequently cocooned by an acid-blooded Xenomorph. Alien, and indeed Aliens, was everywhere – even well into the early 90s. I can remember buying the novelisations, glowing green egg on the cover, and a tie-in Kenner board game at car boot sales. I remember the wildly popular Games Workshop tabletop classic Space Hulk borrowing more than a little from the Giger-esque beasts with their Tyranid Genestealers. And then there were the games.

CHECK THIS OUT: We visited a brand new arcade in 2021, what was it like?

Best and worst Aliens games: Twenty in total

There have been nearly twenty dedicated Aliens titles over the years. You can easily double that if you include the crossovers with Predator, the pinball tables and the many more board games. In fact, the reason I am sat here writing this is because there is another one on the horizon. And it looks like it could be rather good indeed. With the Left 4 Dead-esque Aliens: Fireteam Elite on the horizon, how can you best whet your appetites with some Aliens classics? And which ones should you avoid like an approaching facehugger?

Best and worst Aliens games: Twenty in total

First up, one that was routinely disowned by David Fincher. It also had a gestation period that had script changes out the wazoo. Alien 3 was never going to live up to the high octane space marines actioner that preceded, nor recapture the tense thrills of the original. Nonetheless, particularly in its re-assembled 2003 cut, it is a superb looking example of brutalist sci-fi. And it spawned not one but three-and-a-bit noteworthy games.

Alien 3: SNES & Mega Drive

The Genesis/Megadrive and Super Nintendo/SNES are the two versions of Alien 3 that will be most familiar, and are against the clock run and gun platformers, standard issue tie-in territory at the time. Both are damn fine 90s fare. But the Nintendo version edges out the Sega counterpart in the aesthetics stakes. It does, however, fall behind when it comes to longevity and gameplay.

Alien 3: SNES & Mega Drive

Both titles do a great job of capturing the foreboding, nihilistic feel of the movie, whilst using artistic license to introduce a shitload of weapons and explosions. Even the lesser powered consoles of the time like the NES and Master System had a half decent Alien 3. And an honourable mention goes to the top down Game Boy adventure, which is far better than it has any right to be.

CHECK THIS OUT: Lemnis Gate is a refreshing take on the FPS genre

Best and worst Aliens games: The gun?

Action platforming is one thing, but in the grand 1992-93 roll-out of Alien 3 game ubiquity, the real deal was Sega’s ridiculously fine, and hilariously titled Alien 3: The Gun. This one did exactly what it says on the bezel. A two-player light gun classic, it’s one of the best cabinets of its kind from any era. Eschewing the skinhead Ripley in favour of two space marine types, you face wave after wave of aliens, robots, facehuggers and eggs, and, ultimately, the spectre of human greed in a splendid twist ending. It looks great, has a genuinely unsettling soundtrack, and even features digitised swearing.

Best and worst Aliens games: The gun?

They tried this approach again in 2006 with Aliens: Extermination. It was good, but it can’t hold a torch to its Fury-based forebear. Rounding off the third movie in the series is its inclusion as one third of 1996 classic Alien Trilogy. Like most FPS of that era, it feels cumbersome and limited now. But like Medal of Honor and Goldeneye, we all played the hell out of this back in the day and it remains a fine use of the license.

Doom but with Facehuggers

Essentially Doom with extra facehuggers, this remains a muddy looking charmer. Going back a bit further, there were very few dedicated Alien (1979) videogames. A Pac-Man clone for the Atari 2600 in 1982 and a strategy title for home micros in 1984 hardly set the world ablaze. With its emphasis on action over slow burning dread, Aliens was always going to suit itself more to action. Much like Alien 3 would spawn multiple titles, Aliens had two very different games released between 1986 and 1987 that are like chalk and cheese in comparison.

Doom but with Facehuggers

With a none-more-1980s title, 1986’s Aliens: The Computer Game was released for home computers to poor reviews. Much like portmanteau horror films boomed in the 70s and 80s, minigame-based licensed tie-ins dominated the home gaming market for a long old while. Some of these, like this one, were very poor.

Aliens: The Computer Game

Thanks heavens then that in 1987, Software Studios got their hands on the license and created Aliens: The Computer Game? Yes, that’s right. Despite the predecessor being a wet turd of a game, they still retained the same title and tagline. If you managed to pick up the correct version then you got to play the first genuinely great example of an Aliens game. Do be careful though, as I once got my fingers burned in a car boot sale C64 cassette mixup.

Aliens: The Computer Game

It’s a first-person maze crawler with a brilliantly simple design. Somehow it retains the power to unsettle the player with jump-scare moments and a gradually heightening sense of tension. I loved this one back in the day, and so did the critics. It genuinely captures the feel and structure of the movie, right up to the final confrontation with the Queen.

CHECK THIS OUT: Every video game release date in 2021

Best and worst Aliens games: Enter Konami

First encountered whilst holidaying in France in 1990, Aliens (Konami, 1990) is another arcade game that dresses things up with a bit of flamboyant, colourful artistic license, and biodiverse Xenomorph types that are not actually in any of the films. Imagine if they remade Gremlins: The New Batch but with Aliens. Yeah, it’s that kind of thing. It does capture the feel and essence of the franchise, though. And has an oddly blonde Ripley donning the iconic Exosuit – and is decent run and gun.

Best and worst Aliens games: Enter Konami

Truth be told, Konami did better arcade games than this around the same era. But this remains a playable slice of coin-op nostalgia. If you really want to get stuck into a genuine classic Alien-featuring arcade game, then look no further than Capcom’s 1994 CPS2 belter Aliens Vs Predator.

Getting modern with Aliens

It came at a time when they could do no wrong in the belt scrolling department. It was a high point for their hardware and packed in more action and weapons than you can shake a xenomorph’s tail at. There has been near constant calls for it to be re-released. But sadly due to its licenced nature, it joins the similarly brilliant Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Punisher in being emulation only options if you aren’t packing a JAMMA harness and loads of money. It remains the best AVP game, with an honourable mention for Aliens Vs Predator (1994) for the ill-fated Jaguar.

Getting modern with Aliens

Let’s get a bit more modern, then. Aliens: Infestation (Nintendo DS, 2011) is a superbly presented Metroidvania affair. It even has some excellent comic book art from industry legend Chris Bachalo. It’s essentially the game that Alien 3 could have been if it had taken more cues from Super Metroid. This is well worth revisiting, but commands a hefty price in the secondhand market. Zen Pinball are fantastic, and of course there were a clutch of Alien related tables in 2016. These are as well-designed and fun to play as you expect from the renowned flipper experts.

CHECK THIS OUT: “The Switch version was quite a challenge for us”

Best and worst Aliens games: Isolation

Last but not least we have Creative “Total War” Assembly’s well-received Alien: Isolation (2016). This is a scary, atmospheric first-person survival sci-fi horror. It might be a bit too long, but it features plenty of excellent spooky space station exploration.

Best and worst Aliens games: Isolation

In terms of what to avoid, then I would have to single out the one obvious big-time Alien faux pas. Yes, it’s Gearbox Software’s terrible Colonial Marines from 2013. Colonial Marines even got panned for false advertisement. But here we are. The game was essentially a stillborn chest-burster with inferior graphics and performance than its press demo content. It has crap AI, a hypermasculine, bullshit plot full of irritating characters, and cheap production values. This was a shameful effort and a low point for the series, especially given the technologically advances available.

We live in hope that Aliens: Fireteam Elite can provide us with another bug-shooting high point.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is out on August 24, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox formats.

Free-to-play and completely rebuilt in Unreal Engine, eFootball will launch worldwide first on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and PC Steam this Autumn. iOS and Android will follow soon after.

A new brand identity for a new generation of consoles and players, eFootball represents a fresh approach for the long-running franchise, previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer and Winning Eleven.

The system provides more than four times as many animations as before, achieving highly realistic movement. “Motion Matching” will be utilised across all eFootball platforms, including last-gen consoles, PCs and mobile.

Ensuring that eFootball is an experience that everyone can enjoy, Konami’s new football game is free-to-play across console, PC and mobile. Importantly, eFootball will also present a fair and balanced experience for all players. More details about gameplay and online modes will be revealed in late August.

As a digital-only title, Konami will also regularly add new content and game modes after launch this Autumn. Local matches featuring FC Barcelona, Juventus, FC Bayern, Manchester United and others will be available, for free, at launch. In the future, certain game modes will be sold as optional DLC, giving players the freedom to build an experience that follows their interests.

Uniting football’s global gaming community for the first time, eFootball will offer the same highly realistic esports experience across console, PC and mobile, including full cross-play support post-launch. eFootball on mobile will be detailed at a later date.

The post How a life-long FIFA fan found PES 2021 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Two tribes of gamers have existed since the dawn of time. Or perhaps more accurately, since 1995. When it came to console football games, you were either FIFA or Pro Evo, EA or Konami. Forget Nintendo vs SEGA, this is the real console war. And for this handsome gamer, since the hazy days of FIFA 95, there’s really only been one winner for me. I’ve not even touched a Pro Evo game since, well, before Pro Evo existed. ISS 64 with its infamous mail merge commentary overflowing with enthusiasm was great, and it had menu and title screen music I can still hear to this day. But despite that, I’d keep coming back to FIFA throughout the years.

But with the PES 2021 update now released, I’ve decided to break my PES duck and return to a Konami football title for the first time in nearly a quarter of a century. Here’s how I got on, and what I discovered on my journey.

I should perhaps be clear before we go any further, despite playing FIFA titles for years, I am in no way a hardcore fan of the series, or indeed very competent at it. I spend a lot of hours on them each year, truth be told, but mainly online with mates, teaming up in the Pro Clubs portion of the game. Often I’m a CDM that can pass, occasionally tackle, and whose shot on goal from last night, is probably still rising into orbit. We’ve won Division 1, but it certainly isn’t plain sailing, and there’s lots of setbacks, laughs and banter along the way.

So with a slight sense of trepidation, I embark on PES 2021. My first foray into this strange new world was an eye-opening one. Yes, I went for the “Alternative” control scheme, just to give myself half a chance, and then went straight into an exhibition match to cut my teeth. I chose my team, Manchester United (feel free to berate me in the comments), and then picked a random team as opposition, ending up with FC Genk. A team that should pose a challenge, but hopefully one I wouldn’t be humiliated by.

The match started very well, with me able to move the ball about relatively well. I settled into a rhythm and scored my first PES goal. Then another came, and then another, and I went in at the break 3-0 up, feeling rather happy with myself. Clearly my years of FIFA had paid off right? Well, not really, because either through incompetence or sheer complacency, I somehow ended up drawing that game 3-3 and feeling like a bit of an idiot. I still had a lot to learn it seems, some way to go to understand the nuances of how to play PES, rather than just playing FIFA in a different game.

So, in an attempt to improve my skills, I embarked on the Become a Legend mode. I created a new player from scratch to start my own virtual career with a team in the English Premier League. I went through the usual rigmarole of picking a hairdo and other extremely important specifications. A quick shout out goes to the 100+ different goal celebrations to choose from, helpfully just labelled as different numbers, meaning there was no way to know what each one was without watching them all separately. So I spent more minutes than I care to admit flicking through them all, looking to find something suitably akin to my Prancing Bird celebration from FIFA. Nothing really sufficed – cue an eye roll from me – and I just went with a random couple that caught my eye. My camp jubilations will have to stay on FIFA where they belong.

But now we’re onto the big point, who I end up signing for. Normally this wouldn’t even be much of a point, but it ends up being Leeds United. Now, for those unfamiliar with English football, let’s just say Manchester United and Leeds fans don’t get on. It’s a local rivalry that’s been around awhile, some, depending on who you ask, call it the Roses Rivalry, pointing back to the War of the Roses in the 15th century. So yeah, it’s a pretty significant divide with very little love lost between the two teams. Of all the teams to choose, I had to get Leeds. I actually got them twice because I had to restart when my game didn’t save properly. So PES 2021 clearly has it in for me, a clear mark against it.

As with such things though, I rise above it and keep the grumbles to myself. I’ll show that pesky PES algorithm who’s boss, by actually becoming a legend in spite of playing for Leeds. And whilst that clearly hasn’t happened yet, given the time it takes to evolve your player over time, this mode really did teach me a few things about PES, and how it plays differently to FIFA. By starting out as an average player, it forces you to spot and notice the nuance, you often can’t just play your way out of trouble, it’s about understanding your options and the skill of both teams around you.

It certainly seems a little less forgiving in the stamina stakes for a start. Even when playing as Man United, I was finding players were getting tired if I would run with them a bit. I learned long ago not to overuse running, even in FIFA, but it felt more necessary here. And especially in Become a Legend because my Stamina rating wasn’t great. I would find myself jogging everywhere unless a real opportunity or need to run presented itself, and watching my stamina bar almost as much as the field of play, which feels like a significant inconvenience.

That said, it did bluntly force me to better appreciate my player positioning, especially in relation to those around me. As a CDM in my Pro team on FIFA, I’d be trying to do this anyway, trying to offer an option in the middle of the park. But there I’d be able to often box-to-box sensibly in a match, but not so in PES, unless I wanted to be in the red before the end of each half, running on empty.

The defending part of the game feels different too. If anything right now, defending, and being able to win the ball feels slightly easier in PES than in FIFA. Having a button input to pressure, and another to physically make a challenge feels more successful than jockeying in FIFA. The tackling didn’t feel quite so dramatic in PES 2021, a far cry from the excessive lunges that FIFA players would make in their bid to get the ball.

In terms of attacking, dribbling felt a little easier, and passing was solid, as it is in both games. Through balls seem to work a little differently, logic wise in PES, seeming to opt for the most forward player even if your intention and direction doesn’t imply that. You can obviously manually manage the direction should you wish, but I find more often that a through ball would work as my mind’s eye intended in FIFA, with a few more hiccups in PES 2021.

The AI is an interesting one between the two titles too. Defending AI seems almost scared of the ball in PES sometimes, which coupled with the ability to score from crosses with your head, can make for some great attacking moves or nervous moments at the back depending on where the ball is on the pitch. That said, I did get a sense that different teams played more distinctly, more akin to how they might shape up on a weekend afternoon in reality. Whilst this is sometimes true of FIFA, it felt more so the focus was on the individual players and their abilities than the cohesive whole of the team.

So lot’s of nuance and difference, but how did I feel after this little experiment? Well, what is clear is that there’s a lot of truth to the belief that FIFA is a more arcadey experience, with PES opting for a more simulation-style approach. If I had to pick, I’d likely stick with FIFA’s approach, but I certainly enjoyed my time with PES 2021, and I’ll definitely be going back to grow my Legend further. And perhaps my biggest take away is that there’s clearly room for both in my life. I even think playing both back to back has helped me improve, as I’ve had to train myself to consider different weaknesses in each. Don’t expect me to be challenging for any esports honours anytime soon, but hopefully, my FIFA mates notice I’m not as bad as I used to be. And don’t tell them I’ve been fraternising with the enemy to do so, they’d never let me live it down.

Konami has today announced a new long-term partnership with Italian club AS Roma, meaning the official name, crest, and kits will all be available with the PES 2021 Season Update on September 15. Stadio Olimpico, AS Roma’s home stadium, will also be included in PES 2021. It’s a huge signing, especially as AS Roma has won Serie A three times, the Coppa Italia nine times, and the Supercoppa twice.

“We have a long history of championing Italian football through the eFootball PES series and we’re proud and humbled that AS Roma is the latest to join that legacy,” said Jonas Lygaard, Senior Director Brand & Business Development at Konami. “This year’s PES 2021 will be the only console video game with a truly authentic recreation of the club, but it’s also just the start of what will be a long and fruitful partnership.”

“We are delighted to welcome KONAMI, world-leading company in the design and development of video games and eSports, to our family”, says Giorgio Brambilla, Commercial Director at AS Roma. “Thanks to this agreement we will be able to implement the volume of interactive experiences and the involvement of the new innovations of the Giallorossi fans all over the world. We are already working hard with the new partner to set the activities for the coming months and to support the launch of PES 2021 with various activations. In the Club, we are sure that KONAMI will be the perfect strategic partner for the development of the activities that will involve the AS Roma eSports team, which is increasingly aimed at the public who loves football videogames”.

PES 2021 will be ‘seasonal update’ this year, PES 2022 will be completely updated for next gen in Unreal Engine https://www.godisageek.com/2020/07/pes-2022-will-be-completely-updated-for-next-gen/ https://www.godisageek.com/2020/07/pes-2022-will-be-completely-updated-for-next-gen/#comments Wed, 15 Jul 2020 15:24:42 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=239299 The future of the beautiful game

The post PES 2021 will be ‘seasonal update’ this year, PES 2022 will be completely updated for next gen in Unreal Engine appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

Yearly franchises often have huge overhauls in the move to a new generation, and Konami have announced that this will be no different for PES. This year’s edition of the football franchise (PES 2021) will be a season update as opposed to a full sequel, but next year PES 2022 will be completely updated for next gen in Unreal Engine. Recent versions of the game have seen it utilise the Fox engine made famous thanks to Hideo Kojima, so this is a huge step for the franchise.

“As the industry stands at the precipice of an exciting new generation of consoles, we believe that now is the perfect time to share some of our plans for the future of the PES franchise with you.

To that end, we are excited to announce that we are hard at work on a next-generation football title that aims to truly embody our core concept of “The Pitch is Ours”.

This title is being developed with an updated engine that will enable us to dazzle you with staggering improvements to all areas of the game. Expect more realistic player models and animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals, and much much more.

We recognize that many of you are enthusiastic for new myClub and Master League content, and we are also excited to share that large updates are in the works for both of these modes.

However, the sheer scale of everything we are aiming to achieve for our next-gen debut has made it necessary to pare back our efforts in other areas of development. As a result, we have made the decision to launch this year’s PES as a streamlined offering in the form of a “season update”. That being said, we are still extremely confident that this year’s game offers fans more than enough thrills to tide them over until our next-gen title is ready for launch.”

After a solid entry in the series with eFootball PES 2020, the season update should hopefully tide fans over until the full overhaul coming next year. It sounds like 2021 will be a landmark year for PES players though, as Konami fully embrace next gen.

It’s not been a great year for sports fans (or anyone else really). Although live football is starting to make a comeback around the world, continental events like the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament have still been rescheduled to next year. It’s not all doom and gloom though, as Euro 2020 lives on in eFootball PES 2020. This free DLC will bring new content to help simulate Europe’s most prestigious summer sporting event.

“Konami Digital Entertainment, B.V. today announced the details of an extensive online event in eFootball PES 2020 across console and mobile, named “UEFA EURO 2020™ Matchday”, which will start on July 13th and run until August 23rd.

While the real-life UEFA EURO 2020™ tournament will now take place in 2021, players can now enjoy the official UEFA EURO 2020™ downloadable content (DLC) within eFootball PES 2020.

The highlight of the campaigns, UEFA EURO 2020™ Matchday, will take inspiration from the original tournament match schedule and features up to three fixtures per day, each played in the online Matchday mode. Participating players will be able to pick a national team to support, with their individual game performances determining who wins each fixture and progresses to the Round of 16 and beyond.

To encourage participation in the online event, KONAMI will be running the UEFA EURO 2020™ Matchday Predict-The-Winner Campaign where players can guess the champion for Matchday. Players will enter by selecting their prediction as their base team from August 11th – 13th. A total of 100 million myClub coins will be split equally among the winners that correctly guess the result of the Final, held on August 23rd. Further details will be shared in the near future.”

For PES players, this seems like a good excuse to play a few games a day and get in the Euro spirit. When this tournament is over, maybe football will even be coming home this time.

As we arrive at the 4th anniversary of asymmetrical multiplayer game Dead by Daylight, fans have been feverishly guessing what new licenced horror franchise would be coming to the game. There were rumours of Candyman, Hellraiser and IT floating around the official message boards, but the actual reveal managed to overshadow all other predictions.

The new Dead by Daylight chapter is Silent Hill. Players will be able to kill as Pyramid Head (known in game as The Executioner), and survive as Cheryl Mason of Silent Hill 1 and 3. All of their powers, perks and add-ons have also been revealed, ahead of their official release next month. Could this also mark the return of more Silent Hill? We haven’t had a main series game since Downpour, or seen the series advertised since P.T. Regardless, this is the most excited I’ve been to play more Dead by Daylight since the Stranger Things update.

Konami has announced the return of eFootball.Pro this weekend. An eFootball.Pro Friendly Series will kick off on Saturday May 9 at 13:00 CEST.

The Friendly Series is a 1v1 tournament style with representatives from each of the 10 clubs participating taking part in a single elimination bracket. If you feel like tuning in for some eFootball action you’ll need the following details:

As well as professional players taking part in the action, Harry Channon will also be commentating on matches. The matches will stream on the officialPES YouTube channel with coverage also on their Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages.

As the Regular Season has been postponed Konami is hoping this will give fans the chance to see if individual gameplay will reflect the current League Table standings. Or this might give players the chance to try some new tactics and improve their rankings.

Participants will be seeded in the Round of 16, or to the Quarter Finals, depending on their clubs standings after the most recent Regular Season.

Now that we’re through the when of the tournament you’ll want to know the who. The eFootball.Pro Friendly Series participants are:

  • FC Barcelona – HenrykinhO
  • Juventus – Ildistruttore
  • Manchester United – KAMS
  • Arsenal FC – Christopher
  • FC Bayern – JOSE
  • FC Schalke 04 – GOOOL
  • Celtic FC – INDOMINATOR
  • AS Monaco – ASM Kilzyou
  • Boavista FC – Barboza
  • FC Nantes – Roksa

If one of your favourite eFootball.Pro players is on the list you won’t have long to wait to see them in action.

Due to pretty much everything being postponed thanks to COVID-19 it looks like some DLC is the latest postponement. Thanks to the UEFA EURO 2020 being postponed Konami have delayed the EURO 2020 DLC for eFootball PES 2020. The original release date was April 30 but there’s no word yet for when it will be released.

Konami have also announced that they have cancelled plans to release a physical version of eFootball PES 2020 with a EURO 2020 cover. However, those who currently own or are looking to purchase eFootball PES 2020 will still get the free update on PS4, Steam and Xbox when the upcoming Data Pack is released.

That’s not the only announcement from Konami. They have confirmed that the UEFA eEURO 2020 esports tournament will be going ahead. The final will be due to take place on May 23-24. Players were due to compete in London but that obviously won’t be happening. Instead the matches will be played virtually.

Konami have announced details of the winter update for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading card game. The update includes the return of Shaddoll monsters, the launch of the Ignition Assault Special Edition and the Duel Overload collector’s booster set.

The Shaddolls

First up is news on The Shaddolls. The winter update sees three new Main Deck monsters coming your way. Each monster has a different attribute, unique special summon effect and ability triggered when they’re sent to the graveyard.

These new Shaddoll monsters can also be used for Fusion Material for El Shaddoll Apkallone. A new Fusion Monster summoned by using any two Shaddolls with different abilities. The new El Shaddoll Apkallone also comes with its own abilities. After it has been special summoned, Apkallone negates the effects of any one card on the field. Once Apkallone has been sent to the Graveyard you will be able to retrieve any Shaddoll card from your Deck or Graveyard, add it to your hand, and discard a card. You can also discard a Shaddoll card to trigger another effect.

The new Trap Card, Resh Shaddoll Incarnation, is another one to look out for. It can be used to revive a Shaddoll from the Graveyard, face up or face down. The Trap Card can also be banished from the Graveyard, along with any other Shaddoll card, to flip a monster you control face up or face down.

Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown will be released on February 13 and contain one Beginner’s Guide, one Double-sided Deluxe Game Mat/Duelling Guide and 49 cards. The Main and Extra Decks include: 39 Commons, 7 Super Rares and 3 Ultra Rares.

Ignition Assault

As some of you will already know, Ignition Assault debuted in January, introducing Ai’s “@Ignister” strategy. Picked right from the final arc of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS series. Ignition Assault also included the Ancient Warrior, Megalith and Plunder Patroll themes. Also included were legacy monsters such as Sky Striker Ace – Roze, Witchcraft Genni and Marincess Pascalus. The pack also included “splashable” picks like Sales Pitch, Gizmek Kaku, the Supreme Shining Sky Stag and Lightning Storm.

If you missed these the first time round you now have another chance to pick these up.

If you’re one of the Intrepid Duelists, you have the chance of collecting two preview cards from the 2020 Spring Booster set, Eternity Code, weeks before it releases. You might also find two new link monsters. First is Cyberse Accelerator, a Link-2 that buffs a Cyberse-Type monster, gaining it a 2000 ATK or allowing it to attack twice. Next is the Gouki Destroy Ogre, a high impact Link-4 with 2800 ATK. It protects the monsters it points to from battle, and its effect can also call forth Goukis from your Graveyard. All cards are Super Rares and you’ll find two in each Special Edition.

Ignition Assault Special Edition will be available on March 5. Each with three Ignition Assault booster packs and 2 of 4 Super Rare variant cards.

Duel Overload Collector’s Set

And finally is the Duel Overload Collector’s Set. The biggest collection of new Link Monsters, with 20 new Links and a total of 56 new cards. There’s a new “Predaplant” Link Monster which copies the effects of “Fusion” and “Polymerization” Spells straight from the deck. A new Bujin assembles Xyz Summons and the Sky Strikers find a new Link-2 threat.

Duel Overload also includes one of the most powerful monsters, the Link Monster Crystron Halqifibrax. Link Summoning this with a Tuner, plus any other monster, and Halqifibrax appears on the field to Special Summon a Level 3 or lower Tuner from your hand or deck. You can also banish Halqifibrax on your opponent’s turn to Special Summon a Tuner Synchro from your Extra Deck.

That’s not all as there are also 26 more new cards. These include additions to the Malefic and Cubic strategies from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions and Yu-Gi-Oh! Bonds Beyond Time films.

There are also 44 reprints including top tournament cards like Cynet Mining.

Duel Overload bursts onto shelves from March 19. Each box has 6 Duel Overload boosters with 5 Ultra Rares per pack. This also includes 1 of 6 special oversized collectible cards with a design inspired by the manga series. The complete booster set contains 100 cards.

Like the title suggests, Konami have announced the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2020. This year’s competition will take place on August 22 and 23 in Minneapolis, USA.

Those that have qualified for the Trading Card Game, and the mobile and PC game Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, will compete to claim the title of King of Games.

If you want to compete in the European qualifications you’ll need to make your way to Krakow, Poland, from July 10 to July 12.

For those wanting to compete in the qualifiers, and wanting to qualify for the WCS 2020, you’ll need to:

  • Be one of the top performing Duelists at the European qualifiers; or
  • Be one of the top players in the World Qualifying Points Playoff; or
  • For Duelists born in 2006 or later; be the top performing duelists in the Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier

Sounds easy enough.

If you happen to be in the Oceania region and want to qualify you will need to be;

  • Top performing Duelists at the Oceanic 2020 World Championship Qualifier; or
  • For Duelists born in 2006 or later; be the top performing Duelists in the Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier

More details for the Oceania qualifier will be released soon so keep your eye on www.yugioh-card.com for info.

For those of you wanting to compete in Duel Links, you can qualify in-game via the KC Cup Events, or via the WCS 2020 Regional Qualifier. Starting from today, February 06, the third KC Cup in Duel Links is being held.

If any of this has piqued your interest there’s more information on the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2020 on Konami’s website.

Konami has released the third data pack for its flagship football game, eFootball PES 2020 (yes, we’re all aware at the ridiculousness of that title).

This new data pack includes updates to several stadiums, including Old Trafford, Juventus’ Allianz Stadium and São Paulo’s Morumbi – Cicero Pompeu de Toledo. There’s also a brand new addition, in the form of the Arena do Grêmio, home of Grêmio FBPA.

Several new player likenesses have been added to the game, too. Players like Tyrone Mings, Donyell Malen, Ivan Perišić, Fikayo Tomori and Renan Lodi are all fully modeled in high detail.

There are new Adidas and Mizuno boots available, including the Adidas Predator, along with seven updated national kits from Adidas: Germany, Spain, Japan, Northern Ireland, Wales, Belgium and Scotland.

Finally, seven new Partner Club Squads have been added for purchase, including preset myClub squads that feature the manager, latest players and team tactics, plus a theme for each chosen club. These teams are:

  • Manchester United
  • Juventus FC
  • FC Bayern
  • FC Barcelona
  • Arsenal FC
  • Inter
  • AC Milan

Each Partner Club Squad is available for eFootball PES 2020 from £3.99 to £4.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. February will also see a classic kit arrive for each of these clubs.

As part of national Discover! Creative Careers week, top UK publishers SEGA, Ubisoft and Konami will be opening their doors to Digital Schoolhouse students aged 11-18, between November 18th-22nd. The aim is to “inspire young people to pursue a career within video games and other creative industries.

Together with Nintendo UK, schools from the Digital Schoolhouse programme will be able to visit these global pulishers in order to learn more about careers within the videogame industry. There will be career talks from employees across multiple disciplines, as well as networking opportunities and the ability to present a creative brief to industry professionals.

“At Digital Schoolhouse we embed careers education in everything we do,” said Shahneila Saeed, director of Digital Schoolhouse. “As a bridge between industry and education we’re keen to support and engage with opportunities such as the Discover! Creative Careers week, which does just that.”

“In addition to the digital skills required in both business and technical roles within the creative sector, experiences like this enable students to gain a vital insight into real work environments which spotlight the importance of soft skills too.”

“This is unique careers education and an exemplary opportunity for students and teachers alike, to understand possible pathways in the video games industry and perhaps uncover roles that they didn’t even know existed.”
