]]>

In our Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide we will teach you how to farm the mighty Purple Pikmin, which you’ll need in order to 100% the game.

As you progress through the story mode of Pikmin 4, you will naturally come across every type you need, from Red to the more secret ones later on, but the type that’s essential for 100% completion, is the mighty Purple lads and lasses. There are a few ways you can get lots and lots of them, but our Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide will net you ten new purples every few minutes, so read on to find out how. We’ve even included a handy video guide for you if you fancy, so subscribe to our YouTube Channel to never miss another video.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide: how many do I really need?

Chances are if you’re even searching for a Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide, then you know why you need at least 90, if not 100 of the little friends, and that’s to get the largest and heaviest treasure from the final location. Yes, to get the gold bar you’ll need 1000 strength, and the purple Pikmin have 100 each, so you can do the sums here, and work out that without Oatchie, you’d need 100 of them, or 90 and a maxed-out Oatchie who can add 100 to the strength meter.

Where to farm them?

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

You’ll need to be a little way into the game, but not that far, and have unlocked “Hero’s Hideaway” as a destination. Here, the easiest starting location is 2. Feasting Centre. From there head to Plunder Palace, which is a dungeon with 5 sublevels, and you need to ride a lift up after climbing up a few little objects.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

Take any ten Pikmin you fancy, it doesn’t matter, but know they will be converting to purples, so don’t bring any critters you will miss. Hit start and button through any menus or animations, then immediately head under the toys past a giant breadbug, and up the ramp, bending left towards the first Pikmin flower.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide | How to farm purple Pikmin

Throw your first five Pikmin in, collect up your new five purples, and head to the lift. If you’re quick enough, on some cycles this can all be done without waiting for the lift at all.

Pikmin 4 purple Pikmin guide

Once up the lift, ignore any enemies and run diagonally across the table to the next purple flower. Hop down and throw five more in, and collect up your new purples.

Lastly, with your ten new friends in tow, jump off the chair and sprint with Oatchie to the exit. Skip all the scenes, and that’s it, you’ve got ten more purple Pikmin.

Next steps

All you have to do now is turn around, jump back in and repeat the steps above. It should take less than two minutes to get ten new purple friends, meaning you can get up to or over 100 in no time at all.

If you’re still struggling, check out our full video walkthrough, below.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting even bigger this month, as Nintendo is releasing wave 5 of the booster pack on July 12th. The fifth wave will add eight new (old) courses, and three more characters.

Coming to the pack, character wise, is Kamek (from Mario Kart Tour), Petey Piranha (Mario Kart Double Dash!!), and Wiggler (Mario Kart 7). It’s safe to say Petey Piranha is a fan favourite, as it even got an Amiibo a few years back.

Check out the newly released wave 5 booster pack trailer, and the official word on the new courses, below:

Take on the Cherry Cup and get ready for a star-studded sprint around Los Angeles Laps (Mario Kart Tour), sandy surprises through Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart: Super Circuit), watery wonders in Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii) and the cool runnings of Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour). And in the Feather Cup, enjoy two classic courses in Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart: Double-Dash!!) and Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii), a historical tour with Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour) and the brand-new course, Squeaky Clean Sprint. Each course can be played locally or online.

With wave 5, this brings the courses available in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe up to 88, and Nintendo says there are 8 more to come before the end of the year. The Booster Pack is actually free if you have Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, though it can also be purchased separately.

I scored MK8 Deluxe a full 10/10 back when it came out for Switch in April 2017, saying it “is a beautiful game that just works for all ages and abilities, this time it even includes smart steering to aid newer players. When we came time to pick our Game of the Year for 2014, I said I had to read my original review to remind myself why I hadn’t given it full marks. I wrote that “the battle mode is truly lazy”, and thus felt it wasn’t quite deserving of that ten out of ten. Now, three years on, Nintendo has listened, and acted accordingly. I’m a man of my word, folks”.

Nintendo has confirmed that version 1.2.0 of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been released, adding general updates and fixes. Technically released yesterday (on July 4th), you can manually update your copy of Tears of the Kingdom by hitting the “+” button on the home menu game icon and selecting “software update” then “via the internet”.

The list of general updates is a bit peculiar, as Nintendo says that “By starting the game from within certain articles released on a specific Switch News channel (accessed via the HOME Menu) players can receive a number of in-game items”, though adds that “Depending on the state of gameplay progression or the location in which the data is reopened, there may be cases in which the items cannot be received”.

Basically, this means that in the Switch News channel there will be certain stories you can select that will get you some in-game items. Don’t get too excited as this was also made available in Breathe of the Wild and wasn’t too dissimilar to using an Amiibo, whereby you’d get some food and basic items to make use of.

Here’s the list of additional fixes:

 • Fixed an issue where players could not progress beyond a certain point in the main quests “A Mystery in the Depths” and “Secret of the Ring Ruins”, the side adventures “Hateno Village Research Lab” and “Lurelin Village Restoration Project”, the shrine quest “Dyeing to Find It”, and the side quests “Village Attacked by Pirates”, “The Incomplete Stable”, and “Seeking the Pirate Hideout”. Downloading the update will allow players to proceed past that point
 • Fixed an issue preventing fairies from appearing under certain conditions when they originally should have appeared
 • Fixed an issue preventing the meals provided by Kiana of Lurelin Village from changing under certain conditions
 • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is out now for Nintendo Switch.

It is strange to think that Pikmin 4 is the first new title for the series in an entire decade. It is actually even more odd that I can remember reviewing the first Pikmin title back in the mists of time – something that made me feel my age quite significantly when sampling the giddy delights of the forthcoming sequel. But I was also heartened by the fact that Nintendo has absolutely gone to town to make sure that this is perhaps the ultimate version of the game to date. It is like the company acknowledged the slow sales of Pikmin 3 (despite the deluxe Switch edition), and decided to create something huge, loveable, and easy to pick up, with a learning curve that dials down some of the plate spinning anxiety while also being much more accessible to newcomers.

I was let loose in the opening section of the game, which is also going to represent pretty much what Nintendo will serve up in the forthcoming, highly generous playable demo. Unlike previous games, Olimar is not the main protagonist this go-around. In fact, on the finished game, you get to design your very own elfish avatar, and step into the guise of Rescue Corps newest recruit. Captain Olimar himself, then, has ended up crashing on a mysterious Earth-like world. In a failed effort to recover the series mainstay, the Corps have ended up crashing their rescue craft. Pikmin 4 tells the story of how, along with your ultra-cute bipedal dog-like pal and a bunch of willing anthropomorphic beansprouts, you are tasked with finding the Captain and retrieving your fellow rescue comrades.

Pikmin 4 screenshot

Straight away you sense the warm Nintendo magic, helped nicely by the familiar cute sound effects and the typically lush Honey I Shrunk The Kids-like visuals. The camera angle is slightly nearer the deck here, which works rather nicely and brings things closer to a third-person feel. You are drip-fed the various mechanics of the strategic puzzling, resource gathering gameplay at a rate that is pitched just about right to appeal to all levels of experience. This time your aiming reticule doesn’t just act as a means of flinging the titular alien plants, you can also switch to control Rescue Pup Oatchi – who has plenty of puzzle-cracking abilities to make your missions easier.

Like with the titular Pikmin, you can instruct him to attack enemies and retrieve resources, but he also has a chargeable dash that can smash through certain breakable obstacles, and you can ride on his back and use his leaping ability to scale new heights around the mysterious world. He can also track things by following a scent, and detect treasures using his expert olfactory skills.

Oatchi is adorable, fun to use, and adds so much to the game, including the ability to eventually level up his stats and abilities and teach him new tricks. He is easy to become attached to and I felt a genuine sense of peril when I inadvertently allowed my pupper to be both set ablaze and frozen all during the same gameplay session. There are also new varieties of Pikmin entering the fray to fall in love with/feel guilty about when they die. Ice Pikmin have a variety of uses including being able to solidify blocks of jelly for Oatchi to smash, and turning water hazards into a traversable lake of ice.

Pikmin 4 screenshot

There is a ticking time limit as day turns into night, which lends a nice structure to the main gameplay loop, and there are promised new-to-series night time shenanigans with the introduction of another hitherto unseen version of Pikmin – the Glow variety – who look pleasingly luminescent and serve to distract the more aggressive night-time enemies that you may encounter. As well as the overground, there are subterranean dungeon areas where the passage of time is slowed down to 1/6 of its normal speed for your exploratory pleasure.

The word “Dondori” is used frequently in Pikmin 4. It is a term pertaining to carrying out a variety of tasks with the utmost efficiency and economy, for the best overall results. It sums up the organisational skills needed to pull off being an ace Pikmin player, and is also used to name the excellent looking split screen battle mode which we didn’t get to play but saw in the tantalising trailer and presentation.

The time I spent with the game did not even touch the sides of what is eventually promised for Pikmin 4. The trailer reveals a plethora of diverse areas, enemies, treasures, and puzzles, which I left the preview aching to explore more of. It is a game that any newcomer could enjoy whether or not they have played the preceding games, and looks like a sure fire Switch hit when it drops in July. In the meantime, all three prior Olimar adventures are available on the eShop now, so there has never been a better time to practice herding some adorable space veggies around.

Pikmin 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 21st.

The Nintendo eShop is having a pretty massive sale right now, with discounts on some major titles that are still pretty new and include some discounts of 50% off and even higher, and the sale is running right now until June 25th.

For example, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is currently on sale for £24.99 (50% off) until June 25th, and that’s well worth a look, going by our review, where I said it “is a fun, better balanced sequel, with clever ideas and bags of customisation and variety that make it an easy recommendation. This is a series I truly hope continues in the future, and despite a few bugs, it feels polished and looks better than it has any right to on the big screen”.

You can check out the entire Nintendo eShop Summer Sale at this link, but we’ve highlighted some of the top deals, below.

It Takes Two £26.24 (25% off). Our game of the year winner for 2021, scoring 10/10 with Chris White saying it’s “without a doubt one of the best platformers I’ve played in the last decade. The level design is incredible, and the amount of ideas in terms of its co-operative elements make every second of it so much fun to play”.

LEGO City Undercover £7.49 (85% off). A classic fun game. A bit older now, but almost anyone who plays it, loves it.

Diablo II: Resurrected £11.49 (67% off). It’s Diablo. Nuff said.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga £19.99 (60% off).

Hades £11.24 (50% off). If you don’t yet own this, you can apologise now.

There’s loads more though, as we say, with SteamWorld Dig available for under £2, Cuphead for a tenner, BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection, Gerda: A Flame In Winter, Dead Cells, and even the phenomenal Diablo III is at a discounted price. If you do pick something up, perhaps come join our community and tell us all about it in our Discord!

Nintendo and Monolith Soft has revealed the release date along with a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed, the fourth and final DLC for the game.

It’ll be coming on April 26th, and is set before the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but will feature a cast that uses both new and familiar characters which Monolith Soft says will be “an original story scenario that connects all three instalments in the Xenoblade Chronicles series”. It will also include new mechanics for the battle systems, like “Unity Combo”, which is where two heroes can attack at the same time.

Check out the trailer, below:

On top of that, Nintendo also announced that the Pyra and Mythra amiibo double pack will be hitting stores on Friday, July 21st. Nintendo explained what the amiibo will do in the game, as follows:

By scanning the Pyra amiibo in Xenoblade Chronices 3, players can change the appearance of the sword for Noah’s Swordfighter class to match Pyra’s Aegis Sword. When scanning the Mythra amiibo in Xenoblade Chronices 3, the sword for Noah’s Swordfighter class will match Mythra’s Aegis Sword. The Aegis sword weapon skins can be used by all players meeting a certain requirement in the game. A software update for this will be released in future. Finally, Noah and Mio amiibo have been announced.

I loved the third game, and said that “despite any negatives I may have, is a complete triumph. It’s rich and engaging, deep yet accessible. It even tutorialises some of the facets of the series better than the titles that have come before it. A mammoth “tips” menu lets you refresh your memory should you get lost, but really getting lost is part of the experience. Remarkably, there’s still room to grow for the series, but really thanks to the combat tweaks and quality of life improvements, it’s tough to see how any RPG will better Monolith Software’s latest part of its opus this year”.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is out now for Nintendo Switch.

The post Tears of the Kingdom website reveals how the game will start appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

The official website for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has revealed a tidbit about the game we didn’t yet know: how it starts! So just to be totally clear, if you want to go into Tears of the Kingdom not knowing anything about the opening, and have missed out on the trailers Nintendo has released lately, then probably don’t read on further than this. Okay? Right…

So on the official site, it starts off by saying: “Set out for adventure in a transformed and expanded Hyrule. Find new ways to explore, create, and discover on an epic journey fuelled by your imagination”. And we knew that, but it’s interesting to see the words “transformed” and “expanded”, which makes it sound somehow even bigger than Breath of the Wild.

Scroll down, however, and you get the explanation of how the adventure starts (via Reddit), and what you’ll be doing right away. Here we go, last warning for spoilers:

Link begins his journey on one of the many mysterious floating islands that have suddenly appeared in the skies high above Hyrule. It’s there our hero will have to gain new abilities before returning to the surface world to begin his epic adventure.

The site goes on to explain that “The sky isn’t the only thing that’s changed in Hyrule. Familiar locations have been dramatically transformed, with new towns, dank caves, and mysterious gaping chasms springing up across the world—all waiting to be explored”, then once again reveals the new mechanics, and abilities, such as Ultrahand, Fuse, Ascend, and Recall. Presumably at least some of these will be learned in the sky, similar to how Breath of the Wild made you do a few Shrines before it let you out into the world.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12th, 2023.

Nintendo has live streamed the final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s the last one before the release date.

The third and final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is just shy of four minutes long, and shows a whole heap of gameplay, voice acting, and mechanical aspects that were previously shown in the Tears of the Kingdom Direct showcase. You can watch it below, but be warned that if you avoided the Direct for fear of spoilers, this third trailer does give away a lot of the newer mechanical aspects of the game.

In this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and on the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above. Discover new destinations, dangers, sights and puzzles that will require your wits and resourcefulness to overcome. Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom?

This all follows the announcement of the new Switch OLED hardware linked to the game, and it really is a superb trailer. I reviewed Breath of the Wild for launch way back in 2017, where I gave it top marks and said “I do not say this lightly: Breath of the Wild is an absolute masterpiece, and may well be the best The Legend of Zelda game ever made. Having grown up playing those first games as a child on a system I remember fondly, it feels extra special to be playing a new Zelda on a new console; that I can’t deny, and there are flaws (it’s not perfect), but otherwise, this is everything I wanted it to be and more. I won’t forget Breath of the Wild for a long time, because it’s a memorable, beautiful, stunner of a game.”.

It’s hard to know how this could top it, but we have less than a month to wait now, to find out,.

Here’s 20 minutes of uncut Metroid Prime Remastered gameplay https://www.godisageek.com/2023/02/heres-20-minutes-of-uncut-metroid-prime-remastered-gameplay/ Thu, 09 Feb 2023 11:00:30 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=273503 Because February needed another game.

The post Here’s 20 minutes of uncut Metroid Prime Remastered gameplay appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Metroid Prime Remastered was shadow dropped at the February 8th, 2023 Nintendo Direct. Imagine that? So we grabbed it, captured some gameplay and decided “No, let’s not talk over this”, and just let the game speak for itself.

With multiple control methods (and invertible look, thankfully) Metroid Prime Remastered looks like it’s going to capture a whole new audience, and please fans of the original 2002 classic. I was a little worried at first, as I couldn’t find the option to invert controls for the look stick, and it wouldn’t be unheard of for a remaster to do that, but it is in there.

If you want, you can use a hybrid method, or use motion controls, while the original GameCube controls are also an option. Visually, as you can see from the video above, it looks pretty good for a “remaster”. I’m early days into the game but the Metroid Prime Remastered fire effects looked particularly impressive based on the opening, alone.

While it wasn’t the Metroid Prime 4 news that fans would have perhaps preferred, this finally puts to bed the fact that Metroid Prime Remastered did exist and was ready to go all along. Prime 4 might be a bit further off, however, as the development was restarted as Nintendo announced Retro Studios was developing it back in January 2019. Given the length of development for triple-A games these days, it’s not really a shock that it hasn’t been shown again since.

The latest game in the Metroid series is Metroid Dread, which we scored 9/10 saying “Metroid Dread is nearly the perfect return for Samus, and only some difficulty spikes rain on the parade. ]]>

Booting up Fire Emblem Engage for the first time, I was a little apprehensive. After thoroughly enjoying Three Houses and indeed, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, the lines between the two genres felt like they could be about to blur. But within minutes my fears slid away, because Engage is a Fire Emblem game through and through, and in many ways, feels a bit like a greatest hits.

The “Engage” subtitle plays more of a role than the usual Fire Emblem title that underpins the story (Awakening, Three Houses, etc). Here, it’s both deep rooted within the story, but also the newest and most interesting mechanic. The story of Engage is played out by a new cast of characters, but the “greatest hits” aspect comes in the form of using “Emblem Rings” to summon in Emblem characters from the past. Alear, the male or female (your choice) protagonist of Engage can summon these Engage characters, and once that’s done, they can share the ring with a fellow party member who can bond, and engage with them as well.

Fire Emblem Engage preview

The only one I’ll mention for now is the first of these Emblem Rings, which summons Marth to your side. The idea here is that Marth enhances your capabilities with passive and active buffs, but also special moves relating to his character. You can probably already imagine the depth this sort of thing offers, and the heroes from past games that aren’t just sword-based that could change battles in your favour. Initially once “engaged” you can stay that way for three turns, so there is no urgency to use the special move, but it is a tactical decision, though you can replenish your Engage meter by landing on specially designated slots on the maps, and thus re-engage for another go around.

But that’s really just the start of things. As you make use of your engaged hero, you grow with a bond level. Each level will add a new buff, whether it’s +2 strength, or a passive ability, and after level 5 you can inherit these skills. This means that, should you choose to, you can go and use some of the in-game currency to add Marth’s bond skills to Alear, while moving the actual ring to another Engage character, and start building up their bond, and thus, their skills as well. It’s complex to explain but easy in practice, and adds yet another layer to the tactical combat on offer throughout what I’ve played so far. What it means in practice is that there is seemingly an endless wealth of stats to play around with based on how you mix and match your party, but also your Emblem Rings.

Fire Emblem Engage battle

Of course there’s a whole “RPG” element akin to Three Houses present here, but I’m pleased to say that from what I’ve played so far, it’s quite streamlined. In fact, that’s something that can be said of the entirety of my time with Fire Emblem Engage so far. Whereas pretenders to the throne have copied the tactics-based gameplay before, with all the animations of battle, and tried to improve it, often they include x2 speed up options, and more. Engage doesn’t need to (so far) because everything is snappy and fast.

For instance, when you action an attack, the camera zooms from the top down perspective directly into the action, and back out again when complete. But if you do want to speed it up, tap the B button and the animation will be skipped and you’re back to the tactics screen. Likewise, hit “Start” on the enemy turn and it can skip the entire turn, getting you back to the action. I wouldn’t recommend this aside skirmishes or optional battles, but it’s always a good option to have. Of course, if you want to, it’s an option to automatically skip these animations entirely, and make it just that top down tactics game, but I suspect people won’t do that, because the game looks so good.

Fire Emblem Engage visuals

Elsewhere, all the information you need is on the same screen now. In a battle you can see your stats, and nothing is buried beneath reams of menus. Accessibility seems at the forefront for Intelligent Systems with Engage, and once again this is why it feels like a combination of everything good the series has done beforehand, at least so far. The combat is so tight and it’s as glorious as ever. Getting a crit still amounts to one of the best feelings in a game I’ve ever had, but everything feels honed to perfection. There are few games that channel that tactical feeling of playing Chess without, you know, actually playing Chess, but Fire Emblem is one such experience, and there’s no doubt in my mind that if Fire Emblem Engage can stick the landing and continue in this vein, it’ll likely be the best the series has to offer yet.

Before I head back to playing it, I do want to offer up something that truly took me by surprise: this game is gorgeous. From the character designs and animations, cut-scenes, to the colourful battle arenas: it’s not what you expect from Fire Emblem in some ways. There’s a sheen to the vibrant art design that feels like it’s on a higher plane than usual, and after playing a game like Pokemon Scarlet, Engage almost feels next-gen, thanks to the vibrancy of the aesthetic, and the amount of fully voiced dialogue. With a soundtrack that’s been stuck in my head too, really all that’s left to say is I can’t wait to play more, and this feels like it could be the perfect game to hide away from 2023’s dark winter months with, and dare I say it, this could perhaps be the best Fire Emblem title ever.

Fire Emblem Engage is coming to Nintendo Switch on January 20th, 2023. Check out our full 2023 release calendar.

The post Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is coming to Switch in March 2023 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

For those who thought it was a miracle that Bayonetta 3 finally came out: surprise, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is coming in March 2023.

A new take on the Bayonetta series starring Cereza, a young apprentice witch before she would come to be called Bayonetta. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon launches for Nintendo Switch on 17th March 2023.

It’s worth noting that while Bayonetta 3 was produced by Yuji Nakao, Cereza and the Lost Demon is instead has Koji Tanaka as producer, though Hideki Kamiya is still the supervising director.

In Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, players take on the role of Cereza, a young apprentice witch, and start a fateful journey into a forbidden forest to gain the power to save her mother. In addition to sporting a striking and distinct storybook-inspired art style of its own, this new title also features gameplay never before seen in the Bayonetta series. Controlling both Cereza and her infernal demon partner, Cheshire, players will focus on exploration, combat and puzzle solving to help Cereza go deeper into the forest.

Players who want a sneak peek of the game won’t have to wait long at all. In fact, a brief playable teaser for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon can be accessed within Bayonetta 3. Players who purchased the Old Picture Book at Rodin’s shop, The Gates of Hell, using in-game currency and unlocked it with three keys will be able to access it.

After what seemed like a lifetime of waiting, Bayonetta 3 did come out in late October, where I gave it a 9/10 and said: “As action games go, let’s pull no punches: Bayonetta 3 is an exceptional time, and up there with the very best there is. Compelling from start to finish, there’s very little reason I can think of to say anything other than it was well worth the wait. Yes, it could look better, and sure, it could be a bit less sexy, but really there’s just nothing else out there like it, and it deserves to sell gangbusters, and be celebrated because ultimately, Bayonetta 3 itself feels like a celebration of the medium. Bloody hell, what a ride, but maybe don’t make us wait another eight years for the next one, please”.

Seems like I got my wish, because Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is out on Nintendo Switch, on March 17th, 2023.

Just in time for Christmas, My Nintendo Store UK has a great free game promotion on with purchases of the OLED Nintendo Switch model.

The promotion is for UK shoppers only, and will run from around 7am on Friday 9th December 2022 until 31st December 2022. The deal is for a Nintendo Switch OLED Model (£309.99) in either the white or neon blue/neon red JoyCon configuration, and if you do so, you’ll get Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit (the Mario or Luigi set) free (would usually be £99.99) or The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Swords HD (physical copy, usually £49.99) as part of the deal, for free.

My Nintendo Store UK is giving away a free game with Switch OLED purchases

We’ve reviewed both potentially free titles, but in case you didn’t realise, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is the one that comes with tracks and a real-life Mario Kart you can remote control around the room. Back in October 2020, I said this about it: “…it’s the best use of augmented reality I’ve seen: it properly works, and I love it. I’m so glad Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit exists, because I needed the smiles it gave me, and if I don’t play it again, I’ll still think fondly of the time I spent with it, and sometimes making memories is the most worthwhile thing of all.”

As per the video review above, Skyward Sword HD converted me from someone who didn’t like the game, to a big fan. Giving it a 9.5/10 score, I said “There’s just so much to love about it. The ten year old visuals look striking even next to modern games, and it now runs like a dream. The soundtrack is one of the best in the series, offering some exceptional melodies to accompany your journey. The controls feel great, offering two vastly different ways to play, neither less valid than the other. There’s great boss fights and fun new items. Skyward Sword HD has made a fool of me, and really, I am just so happy I gave it another chance. This is the best version of a truly landmark game, and you need to play it“.

This deal runs from from around 7am on Friday 9th December 2022 until 31st December 2022, or “while stocks last”.

Nintendo has announced its sale prices for black Friday and there’s some genuinely good deals in there, including a cheap wireless controller.

It’s quite rare for Nintendo to discount games, let alone some of their top tier titles, but it seems for this year’s black Friday deals, that’s exactly what’s happening.

First up, the console itself (blue-red model, NOT the OLED) along with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three month Switch Online membership can be grabbed for £259, which is a saving of £56.98.

There are some other major deals, which we’ve listed below. Click the price to go through to the page if you do fancy grabbing anything. Don’t get us wrong, there’s nothing outrageously cheap here, so to speak, but if you do like having games digitally, you’re unlikely to get them cheaper elsewhere at the moment.

 • Super Mario Odyssey (£33.29, from £49.99)
 • Metroid Dread (£33.29, from £44.99)
 • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (£33.29, from £49.99)
 • Monster Hunter Rise (£17.49)
 • Bravely Default II (£24.99)
 • Astral Chain (£33.29)
 • The Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch Wireless Controller (£29.24, was £44.99)
 • Super Mario Bros (Blue) Nintendo True Wireless Sound Earphones (£20.99, was £34.99)
 • Wired Nintendo Switch Gaming Headphones (£17.99, was £29.99)

Check out the full list of game deals here.

It’s worth noting there are plenty of other deals in the sale, but that the Wireless controller isn’t the “pro controller” that most people will want, it’s the Wireless Horipad, which we haven’t tested ourselves, so we’re not sure how good it is, or isn’t.

Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best games on the system, however, and it got a massive 10/10 back in October 2017, where I said “I woke up thinking of Odyssey, and when I was away from my Switch I found myself desperate to be playing this game. It feels daft to tell you this because you already know it, but this is the reason to buy a Nintendo Switch. Full of happiness, an antidote we all desperately need, flawlessly designed, addictive, and just incredible. I worry I’ve left things out of this review, but in all honesty, I am desperate to hit that final full stop so I can get back to collecting more moons. This is platforming perfection, full stop”.

The post Nintendo Switch Sports golf update is coming next week appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch Sports golf mode is coming on November 29th as a free update, after around six months of waiting.

Nintendo Switch Sports golf mode has been eagerly awaited, and even had an update trailer back in September

The golf update will include 21 holes from the Wii Sports series, and support up to 8 players in the online mode. Survival golf will focus on elimination based on the number of strokes, and while the last news on the subject did say “Update available Holiday 2022”, many felt it’d be a bit sooner, but at least now we know: it’s coming on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022.

I really enjoyed Nintendo Switch Sports back in April, giving it 8.5/10 in my review, saying “The only other issue I have with Nintendo Switch Sports is that there’s no offline progression at all. If you don’t go online to play with or against people from around the world, you won’t unlock new clothes and accessories for your character. Really, this is a missed opportunity. There are more than enough modes within the sports to implement a challenge system of some sort, but it’s another reminder that this is a game aimed at online play.

Really, as long as you’re planning to play Nintendo Switch Sports online or with friends, you’re going to have a great time. I can’t stress enough how wonderful it was to have my now teenage children in the same room for hours on end playing something together. Yes, it’s on the lighter side as a package, and yes, there could be more sports ready to play right at launch, but I’m entirely confident that what’s here right now is a fantastic, fun time, and that if you enjoyed the Sports games that Nintendo has put out before, you’ll enjoy this too”.

Nintendo Switch Sports is out now.

The post Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe coming early next year to Nintendo Switch appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

During today’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, an updated version of the popular Wii game, will be coming on February 24, 2023. Everyone’s favourite pink cuddy ball (in your face, Jigglypuff) returns to Nintendo consoles when Kirby befriends the mysterious Magolor after its spaceship lands on Planet Popstar. The game isn’t just a port of the original, as it’ll feature new new abilities and subgames.

Kirby will gain access to special Copy Abilities as he teams up with his friends on a captivating quest, utilising the new Mecha Copy Ability. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe will support multiplayer for up to four people all on the same console, and everyone will be able to play as Kirby at the same time. It’ll also feature a collection of subgames to play, including the returning Samurai Kirby, and the brand new Magolor’s Tome Trackers.

Kirby has had a bit of a resurgence as of late, with both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Kirby’s Dream Buffet both dropping on the Switch this year. In our review of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, we said, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a lovely surprise. It’s an evolution for the Kirby franchise, and though it retains the fundamentals fans know and love, it adds challenge and adventure in a way that the series has never seen before. It borrows heavily from its mascot-friends from the Nintendo family, but also stands alone as an adventure every platform game fan should experience. I didn’t think it was possible, and I never thought I’d say this, but Kirby and the Forgotten Land is an essential purchase.”

As we mentioned earlier, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe will release next year on February 23, and pre-orders are now live.

]]>

As the final announcement on a Nintendo Direct, it doesn’t come much bigger: we have the full name and release date for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In case you didn’t realise it, that game name is brand new, and is what we’ve been referring to as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Until now that is, as the official name, which Nintendo itself said it didn’t want to reveal too early as it’s a bit of a spoiler, is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In a very brief (90 second) trailer, the name was revealed along with the release date: 12th of May, 2023.

Lots of artwork was shown, before seeing Link flying with a winged creature of some sort, climbing as usual, and doing some magic stuff with rocks. It’s easily the most anticipated game for most people in 2023, already, we’d bet. The original game was a masterpiece, as seen in our 10/10 scoring review, where I said: “I do not say this lightly: Breath of the Wild is an absolute masterpiece, and may well be the best The Legend of Zelda game ever made. Having grown up playing those first games as a child on a system I remember fondly, it feels extra special to be playing a new Zelda on a new console; that I can’t deny, and there are flaws (it’s not perfect), but otherwise, this is everything I wanted it to be and more. I won’t forget Breath of the Wild for a long time, because it’s a memorable, beautiful, stunner of a game”.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12th, 2023.

Nintendo loves a tease and it seems Pikmin 4 is the latest to get that treatment, as we now know it’s coming… next year.

Introduced by Shigeru Miyamoto, he spent a great deal of the presentation talking about Pikmin Bloom, the mobile game by Niantic that’s basically Pokemon Go, but Pikmin. Then, he announced Pikmin 4 would be coming in 2023. There was a specific comment about “not showing gameplay yet”, but Miyamoto-san did explain that the Switch controls make the game much easier to play.

Pikmin 3 was re-released in 2020 for Switch, and Chris Hyde scored it a 9/10, saying: “Pikmin 3 Deluxe wants everyone to come and experience what it has to offer. It doesn’t matter if you’re a single-player enthusiast or someone looking to sit down with a friend or family member. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a simple story experience or are a completionist. It doesn’t matter if you’re a speedrunner or a casual player. What matters is you enjoy yourself and Pikmin 3 Deluxe knows that. It has difficulty settings, and bags of content allowing you to tailor your experience and enjoy spending time in it’s lovely, charming, beautiful world. Pikmin 3 Deluxe has something for everyone, and that something is a whopping great smile.”.

Pikmin 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2023.

The post A Nintendo Direct is coming tomorrow afternoon appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

A brand new Nintendo Direct has been announced for 3pm on September 13th, UK time “featuring roughly 40 minutes of information mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching this winter”.

This means we’ll likely see more of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Bayonetta 3 (both of which are out in October) and could well mean some surprise announcements, given the fact Nintendo likes to release a game a month, and has nothing outside of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for the rest of November and December. Perhaps we’ll get a new date for Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp — who knows?

Last time this happened at a Nintendo Direct, we got the announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King, but there have been rumours circulating for a while now around The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and even a Metroid Prime remake, which would be one hell of a reveal, given the huge games we still have coming this year for all platforms.

Who knows, given that it “mostly” features games launching this Winter, maybe there will be an update on Breath of the Wild 2, though, well, we wouldn’t hold our breath (of the wild — sorry). With Splatoon 3 just out as well, there may even be details of future updates for that, but that’s again, pure speculation.

Regardless, via the embedded player above you can come back tomorrow at 3pm UK time (7am PT, 10am ET, 4pm CEST) and watch is, so bookmark this page temporarily until then, or subscribe to the Nintendo YouTube accounts to get watching on your phones.

As with some previous Nintendo Directs and showcases, the UK channel won’t be broadcasting it live, and instead will appear on the channel later. The official UK account tweeted: “As a mark of respect during this period of national mourning, we will not livestream tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct. It will be published as a video-on-demand on our YouTube channel at 16:00 (UK time) tomorrow”.

Nintendo has announced 3.45million units of Splatoon 3 have sold within three days, which is a new record for that period.

Announced via the Nintendo of Japan corporate site, Nintendo said “domestic sales of the Splatoon 3 game for the Nintendo Switch system have surpassed 3.45 million units”, which is a figure included both packaged and downloadable versions. The previous game sold very well too, with reports of over 13.3million copies sold worldwide.

Nintendo adds in the release that “Nintendo will continue its efforts to deliver Nintendo like entertainment including Splatoon 3, and communicate the features and values of Nintendo Switch, which customers can play anytime, anywhere, and with anyone”.

In my 9/10 scoring review, I said “Splatoon 3 may not be the most exciting release in the calendar, but it is the best the game has been. A plethora of tweaks to the formula mean it’s accessible, and there’s no nonsense to slow you down and stop you playing. A successful single player campaign is met with multiplayer fun that is unmatched by any other game for how unique and fun it is, and a massive amount of weapons means you won’t be getting bored any time soon. Splatoon 3 is a rip-roaring success, then, and is perhaps the game that fans wanted all along”.

Splatoon 3 is out now for Nintendo Switch.

The post Splatoon 3 direct shows off new modes, and lots more appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

One of Nintendo’s biggest 2022 releases still to come is Splatoon 3, and it just had a 30 minute long Nintendo Direct showcase revealing new modes and much more.

As you can imagine, the main hub has had a massive overhaul, but the new Clam Blitz mode looks great, which seems to be an American football style game where you have to throw the ball into a zone to score points. Another large single player mode is also present and continues the battle between Squidlings and Octarians (who are now sporting wild hair for some reason). Nintendo did refer to this single player portion as the “epic finale” of the saga, too, which is interesting.

In terms of customisation, you have “splashtags” which are banners, badges, and titles all rolled into one. You can also change the emotes your character performs when you win a battle. There’s an in-game catalog that you can buy these all from, and there will season gear, with a new catalog launching every few months.

Tableturf battle was also revealed, which looks like a weird Tetris-based puzzle game that lets you play opponents by laying cards (over 150 are available). You’ll get a starter deck for free, and Sheldon is involved as well.

Salmon Run is back in the form of “Next Wave”, and is still a four player co-op mode. There are new bosses and you still need to grab the golden eggs and deliever them into the nets to complete the quota for each wave. Sometimes before you finish a job, enormous “King” bosses will appear, and you get to fire golden eggs to deal “massive damage”, but it’s all on a timer, so you have to get it done quickly. There’s also something called “Big Run” which is going to come up once every few months, so more timed content there.

In the square there’s also a “Miiverse” style mailbox that lets you do drawings to send to people, both horizontal and vertical. Food returns and is a buff again. The Shoal is the school that lets you play locally, while Photo Mode is, well, a photo mode. Recon Mode is new, and lets you pick any of the in-game stages and just walk around them and explore at your leisure, which is a great idea, and something you rarely see in shooters these days, offering a chance to get used to the game’s maps.

Splatoon 3 will also have support for the new Splatnet app, which will be available at launch. Amiibo are supported for costumes, and you can take photos with them, and of course, there are three new Amiibo due to be released this holiday: two Octolings (blue and yellow), and a Smallfry Salmon.

There’s plenty of support coming after launch, too. New weapons, new catalogs, X-Battle (gained after high rank) and League Battle are coming in a future update, as well. “Large scale paid DLC” is also coming in the future, but Nintendo didn’t say what that would entail, as of yet.

I won’t spoil the final reveal of the direct, but it was a nice one for fans. It does seem, however, that the long-winded intro may still be present when you boot the game up, while Splatfests are also set to return, but there will be three teams to pick from instead of the previous choice of two, resulting in a Tricolor Turf War where three teams will fight at the same time. There will be a pre-release Splatfest on the 27th of August where you’ll need to pick between rock, paper, or scissors. It’s only going to run for that one day, though.

Anyone who wants to dive into Splatoon 3 before it launches on 9th September can join the Splatfest World Premiere on 27th August. Starting 18th August, the free demo can be downloaded from Nintendo eShop. Players can choose Team Rock, Team Paper or Team Scissors until 27th August. Certain parts of the demo will already be playable on 25th August, before the Splatfest event itself kicks off on 27th August at 10:00 CEST.

Splatoon 3 is out for Nintendo Switch on September 9th, 2022.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe next wave of courses coming in August

Wave 2 will join Wave 1, which is already available and features eight courses, including Wii Coconut Mall, N64 Choco Mountain, 3DS Toad Circuit, DS Shroom Ridge and GBA Sky Garden, as well as Ninja Hideaway, Paris Promenade and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour. The post Bayonetta 3 will have a mode that saves potential embarrassment appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

Hot on the heels of Nintendo announcing the release date for Bayonetta 3, developer PlatinumGames has revealed a new mode called “Naive Angel Mode”.

The mode is designed so that “more people can fully enjoy it. By turning it on, you can play right in the living room without having to worry about what’s on screen… we think”, according to the developer’s tweeted:

.

It seems the mode will censor some of the moments where more of Bayonetta’s skin is on display, and with certain costumes that, shall we say, look a bit risque on others. Likewise, when Bayonetta wears a very revealing outfit, this Naive Angel Mode will just add a layer and cover her up. Along with the message about the mode PlatinumGames did say that “the witch is back and sexier than ever”, so if you don’t want to turn off the skin, etc, then you’ll be fine too, I guess.

After what feels like years of waiting, Nintendo randomly revealed the October 28th release date for the game, along with the limited edition, making for a very busy month as October is also going to be the month Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is released on Nintendo Switch as well.

The last Bayonetta title was released in 2014 on Wii U, but was repackaged for Switch in 2018, where I gave the game an 8.5/10 and said: “This is a strong port of a terrific game. In for a penny, in for a pound and all that, but I still think there is room for improvement with the combat, and would prefer DmC’s to Bayonetta 2, but thankfully that’s not a choice I have to make. Bayonetta 2 remains one of Platinum’s best games, and is a treat on Switch just as it was on Wii U”.

Bayonetta 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 28th.

The very desirable LEGO Super Mario set has got a new building kit right now, and in The Mighty Bowser, apparently it’s the biggest one in the set to date.

“The set is the latest product from the unique LEGO and Nintendo partnership, which first launched in 2020. The Adult line incorporates a range of Super Mario-themed building kits, each designed to evoke nostalgia from LEGO fans who remember Mario as an intrinsic part of their childhood. Previous products include a buildable LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the iconic ‘?’ Block with levels from the Super Mario 64 game inside. The figure, part of the ‘Adults Welcome’ series, has been long-awaited by Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) who want to challenge themselves with a detailed set that will truly bring back fond memories of the past.”

LEGO Super Mario adds Bowser

“Bowser is, quite simply, the ultimate boss – and we’re delighted to announce that we’re introducing this oversized version to the LEGO Super Mario Adult line for a little added peril,” said Carl Merriam, Senior Designer. “Since we launched LEGO Super Mario two years ago, we’ve been on such a journey – gradually expanding with the most iconic and recognizable characters of the LEGO Super Mario universe.

“Adding The Mighty Bowser really is a blast from the past for many Adult Fans of LEGO. He might be the big boss, but he still brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia to adult Super Mario fans worldwide. Just as defeating Bowser was always the ultimate challenge in the Super Mario games, here we’re challenging fans to build the King of the Koopas from nearly 3,000 pieces. We know they’re up to the task and will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on this great new addition to the Super Mario line.”

The new set will be on sale from October 1st, 2022, from the official LEGO website, and will cost 269.99 EUR/269.99USD.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is complex, gargantuan, and brilliant | Hands-on preview https://www.godisageek.com/2022/07/xenoblade-chronicles-3-is-complex-gargantuan-and-brilliant-hands-on-preview/ Thu, 07 Jul 2022 13:00:12 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=264844 One of the biggest games of 2022 is nearly here.

The post Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is complex, gargantuan, and brilliant | Hands-on preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

I almost don’t know where to start with Xenoblade Chronicles 3. There’s a lot to talk about with this game, yet there’s just words floating around in my head that I feel I need to get out first. Let’s list a few: gargantuan, complex, long, systems, and so far… brilliant.

For long-serving fans, don’t worry, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is perhaps more complex and systems-heavy than any of the prior games in the series. Much has been made of the battlefield being a larger party size (it’s doubled), and this is all true, and it’s exactly as much chaos as you’d expect.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is complex, gargantuan, and brilliant | Hands-on preview

What this means, in reality, is that there are six characters fighting every single battle, with the auto-attacks, cancels, arts, and all manner of other move-types kicking off at once. The AI is, as usual, excellent at reacting to a combo starter. Nothing has been dumbed down. In fact, nothing has been turned down, meaning that all six of your heroes are yelling something heroic or mad. To combat the fact there are six of them, I’d say so far it seems the enemy is what has been quietened. Perhaps it’s the type of foe I’ve fought in the early hours, but they don’t seem to be shouting at me in a Scottish accent, that’s for sure.

As usual, though, there’s a war going on. Young people seem caught in the middle, not really having much choice but to fight, and warring factions are essentially told you have to fight to survive. There’s a clock that absorbs the energy of dead soldiers, so essentially you want your side to win so it sucks up all the energy and you can keep on living. In that respect, it’s as suitably barmy as any other game in the series, but focusing on the six heroes from the get-go does give a sense of focus and means you rather know who is important and not from the beginning. Truthfully, the narrative is engaging and, crucially, there’s a lot of it. It’s not uncommon to sit watching lengthy cut-scenes that explain the back story in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and I am absolutely here for it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is complex, gargantuan, and brilliant | Hands-on preview

One thing that I’ll touch on briefly is how Xenoblade Chronicles 3 keeps things fresh with a set run of six characters. Each of the six has a partner in battle, who can use the new “Interlink” mechanic, allowing them to turn into an Ouroboros form and battle for a set time as a stronger unit. Think of Power Rangers, and you’re on the right track. This adds yet more depth to the combat, with new arts to master, and a lot more to think about. There’s plenty to do away from fights, too, and the world is littered with items to grab, chests to open, and other things to do.

Likewise, after a certain amount of story has developed, you can change class. While Noah starts as a sword-wielding attacker, Mio is a speedy defender who excels at dealing damage while aggro-ing the enemy, allowing for healers to heal and attackers to attack. Switching these classes around so that Noah is the defender, and Mio is the attacker means things never get boring. This plays into the seventh character in your party, and while I won’t reveal anything about who these fighters may be, they are called “heroes” and if you complete their quests, you can add their hero class to the acquired classes, offering even more ways to spec out your party.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is complex, gargantuan, and brilliant | Hands-on preview

I wonder if what I’ve written here sounds like gibberish. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has left me feeling a bit that way so far. It’s so impressive, with every single turn adding to the mechanical aspects of the game in clever, unique ways, that I just can’t think of a single other game like it anywhere else on any system. At times it risks over-egging the pudding, and you wonder if someone wrote down every idea they’d ever had and said “put this is the game”, without fear of what it might do to the mind of the poor soul who chooses to play it.

Yet no, that’s not true, because it’s on my mind all the time, and it isn’t just “more” of the series. Improvements are abundant even down to the quality of life changes. The map is still pretty ropey, but now there’s a toggle to switch on a waypoint line that can direct you straight to a chosen quest or marker. These changes are small but seriously significant. But writing this feels like time I should be spending with Noah and Mio and co, mastering the combat, vanquishing foes, and uncovering more of the mysterious yet compelling story I’ve seen so far. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels, so far, like everything you’d want and more. I’d be very shocked if fans felt let down in any way,

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is out on July 29, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Switch OLED model is coming on Friday, August 26th, and it’s a Splatoon 3 edition.

The OLED model is by far the best model Nintendo has produced, often giving off better visuals in handheld than you’ll see on your own massive home TV, and Splatoon 3 being released on September 9th means this is a perfect timing situation.

The new Nintendo Switch OLED model is inspired by the upcoming game which isn’t included in the package. Nintendo says it’s “adorned with splashy, squid-tastic images straight out of Splatsville. It includes a set of one blue and one yellow gradient Joy-Con controllers with white undersides, and a white, graffiti-themed Nintendo Switch dock”. You can see it in action in the video, below:

Available on the same day as Splatoon 3 (September 9th), there will be a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Splatoon 3 Edition, featuring striking colours and images fit for Inklings and Octolings alike, and the Nintendo Switch Carrying Case (Splatoon 3 Edition) & Screen Protector. The company says that “Whether engaging in an online Turf War from home, or playing Story Mode on the go, these items will help ensure slinging ink in style”.

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Splatoon 3 Edition console features a vibrant 7-inch OLED screen, a wide adjustable stand, a dock with a wired LAN port (LAN cable sold separately), 64 GB of internal storage***, and enhanced audio in handheld and tabletop mode. Players can play on the TV and share the detachable Joy-Con controllers for right-out-of-the-box multiplayer fun. And just like both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, with Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, the system can be taken on the go to enjoy its play-anywhere versatility.

It’s always exciting to see what new games will be announced at a big showcase, so you should probably get excited about the Nintendo Direct partner showcase that’s coming tomorrow. We have no idea what’s coming, but we do know that it’ll take place at 2pm UK time and will last 25 minutes.

There’s plenty of speculation from fans about what could show up, and perhaps the most exciting of these predictions are ports of Persona 3, 4 and 5. With the announcement of these beloved JRPGs arriving on Xbox at their showcase a couple of weeks ago, it seems pretty believable that they could make an appearance.

Other previously announced games could certainly get release dates too. Bayonetta 3 has been a long time coming, and would be an exciting announcement. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has also been absent for some time, and with a 2022 release date currently it wouldn’t surprise me too much if it stole a spot at the show.

I could list dozens more third party games that might pop up tomorrow. The rumoured Arkham Collection, Dragon Quest 3 2D HD, Metal Slug Tactics… The list is almost endless. We will all have to tune in to the Nintendo Direct partner showcase tomorrow to find out for sure though.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, the MetroidVania that our critic really enjoyed (despite the name) is coming to Nintendo Switch next month.

The 2.5 “dieselpunk Metroidvania” will be coming to everyone’s favourite handheld console on July 12th and will cost you $29.99 or €29.99, and it’s even available to pre-order from the eShop at midnight tonight with a 10% discount.

In our review, Mick said: “For a game making such little noise, F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow Torch is an absolute blast. The world is stunning at times, the backstory deep enough to make the plot compelling, and the characters are fun and likeable if not overly original. Its exciting, brutal combat, and rewarding exploration set it apart from many of its genre-mates though, and make it utterly worth your time”.

On Switch, of course, the game won’t look or run quite as well as it did on PS5. The developer tells us that it’ll run at 1080p with 30fps when you dock it (playing on TV), while in handheld mode it’ll retain the 30fps but drop to a resolution of 720p, which is pretty fair, all things told.

On the port, the developer explained: “Powered by Unreal Engine 4 with physically-based rendering and extremely-detailed textures, presenting a gorgeous 3D visual performance and pushing the genre to a whole new level on Nintendo Switch”.

The game will launch on Switch on July 12th, it’s out now on PC and PlayStation.

The post Watch ten minutes of new Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes gameplay appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As part of our early preview thoughts on the opening sections of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, we’ve put together a little preview video that shows the game in action. There’s very little to worry about, spoilers-wise, as it’s all from the prologue chapter, which is actually available now as a demo from the Nintendo Switch online store.

Like with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has lots to it. Plenty of deep RPG mechanics to get stuck into, with relationships, and then the musou hack ‘n’ slash combat. It’s taken me by surprise, as you can see in the video.

In the full written preview, I said: “I’m deliberately not talking too much about the plethora of RPG mechanics brought over from Three Houses because I want to be clear about how enamoured I am with the combat alone. It feels like I have a long way to go and a lot to unlock but not once has this game left my mind. I even missed the final day of the cricket because I spent all Sunday morning pushing one chapter deeper. I keep thinking it’ll wear off, or I’ll wake up, but I just keep doing “one more” battle because I want to level someone up, or push the story on, or just hack and slash through enemies.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has stunned me. It’s captured me in a way I never imagined possible, and while I’m not sitting here claiming perfection, I am here to say don’t ignore this because it’s a musou. Maybe I was wrong about the genre or maybe I just never found the musou for me. Maybe everyone has just one musou in them. I have never been happier to have been wrong about a game in my life”.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is out exclusive for Nintendo Switch on June 24th.

The post Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes might just be the biggest surprise of 2022 | Preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Sometimes it’s good to eat humble pie. Don’t get me wrong, nobody enjoys being wrong all the time but it takes a good person to stand up and say “I was wrong”, and boy were my preconceptions about Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes ever wrong. So wrong were they, that I’m left wondering if my entire outlook on the Musou genre may need reevaluating.

There have been cracks in the facade before. Persona could have got me, and I wonder if Hyrule Warriors could have been the one. So before we go on with my early feelings with a significant amount of hours with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes I need to declare two statements, honest and true.

Statement one: I loved Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I adored the characters and mechanics, and battling, and just about everything about it.

Statement two: I had never played a musou I didn’t really dislike. Until now.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Houses

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is, to all intents and purposes, a sideways sequel to the original game. An alternate version of events with a new main protagonist and another crazy volume of hours to sink your time into. It’s unclear to begin with, especially if you did enjoy Three Houses as much as I did, but after a bit of time it becomes obvious this is almost a multiversal take on that game’s story.

This is essentially Three Houses with a new story and musou combat instead of the tactics, though there’s a heavy dose of tactics in how it all works. It also has everything from Three Houses. And I mean everything, so far. There is so much going on here, but I want to be clear, I won’t be delving into every aspect of the game right now.

The weapon triangle returns, there are encampments you improve, and relationships you want to see more of. Full voice acting and characters that are like friends returning from a long trip. Within an hour I was enraptured and desperate to find out where this version of events was going to go.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Houses

But more on that another time. The combat is the biggest surprise for me. In conjunction with the classes and Fire Emblem ideals it’s anything but a button masher. There are special abilities and meters for everything but the core combat is just so satisfying. Playing as Shez, following his “best path” for class you will cut through enemies with speed and power. Tens of enemies will end up in the air when you break a guard and activate a special that will deal damage numbers in the thousands.

That’s just Shez, though. Even though every combo can be ended with a different action, it’s when you start to try the mage classes, or the lance wielders; and then their combos depend on if they’re on horseback or not. Magic users combos can be ended with fire, wind, lightning, and more, but these are not random, and aren’t the result of a lucky mash. They are calculated. One character’s fire move knocks enemies back, but their wind move will draw foes nearer allowing you to break their guard meter quickly and let off a special finisher style move that is flashy every time you see it.

But the best thing is the roster. The second anything close to boredom sets in there’s a simple solution: you just change to someone else. You’ve been directing them from a map anyway during battle to attack or defend so they’re positioned well to continue the fight. Each battle allows for four playable fighters, but the larger sections allow for other members of your party to take part in battle, albeit as NPCs. You can assign them as adjutants (see what I mean, it’s all here) and get even better special attacks, or gain new buffs and abilities this way. It’s intricate, and frankly, as addictive as sugar.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Houses

I’m deliberately not talking too much about the plethora of RPG mechanics brought over from Three Houses because I want to be clear about how enamoured I am with the combat alone.

I’ve no problem saying this: I was wrong. I have never been happier to have been wrong about a game in my life.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is out exclusive for Nintendo Switch on June 24th.

As I sat in front of the dazzling title screen of Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, I was reminded that I once reviewed the original game in the series, back in 2005, on a system that is now legitimately described as “retro”. This made me feel a strange combination of nerdy pride and age-related fear.

Unlike me, the Gamecube version hasn’t aged too well, but the Wii sequel proved that there was still a place, and a need for decent arcade style sports titles. After just a few minutes with Mario Strikers: Battle League Football (Next Level’s third stab at a Mushroom Kingdom based soccer sim) I can say this is still very much the case. In fact, we could have one of the best stylised sports approximations on our hands since Speedball 2 or NBA Jam.

Battle League Football

The preview session began by allowing us to run through the tutorials. It soon became apparent that despite the cartoonish presentation and what you may expect to be a simplified version of the beautiful game, there is a tonne of depth at play here, and a lot of tricks and bells and whistles to master.

As well as the standard passing, lob shots and strike options, there are charged varieties of each with timing based sweet spots to learn; you can execute a “perfect” variety of each shot, pass or tackle type, lending it an ex-style enhancement. You can commit unpunished fouls of such crushing atrocity that I winced the first time I ironed out Yoshi with one. There are fighting game-like cancels, dashes, one-two passes, and through balls, and the ability to tee up shots for your teammates to volley into the net.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football could be one of the best stylised sports games

It wouldn’t be a Mario-themed arcade footy fest without power-ups though, right? As well as electrified perimeter fencing that you can smash your opponents into, there are several other ways to maim, explode, and pole-axe the opposition. And they come thick and fast. The ubiquitous question mark blocks appear on the field and gift a variety of familiar items. Green and red shells, Bob-ombs, speed-up ‘shrooms, and stars are all present and correct and led the action an element of chaos and unpredictability.

Joining the weaponry is the glowing orb that randomly appears at intervals, which, like when you hoover up all the gems in Power Stone, grants the ability for anyone on your team to execute a super move, or Hyper Strike. This is easier said than done in a match situation as these crazy strikes take a while to charge up, leaving you vulnerable to a challenge whilst doing so. You also have to successfully hit a timed series of button presses to gain full accuracy and power. If you pull one off, you are granted with an incredible bespoke animation for each character in the same satisfying, screen juddering manner of a super special in Street Fighter. Oh, and a cheeky two points instead of one.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football

The characters all feel distinctly unique, and are brought to life with the panache and humour you would expect. Wario straight up trolls the entire sport by cheating the entire time. There is no fancy footwork from the garlic chomping anti-hero – he just picks the damn ball up and throws it, like a miscreant child derailing a playground match. Mario and Luigi are the solid all-rounders, whilst Peach feels nimble and more likely to slalom her way past the larger and more cumbersome powerhouses like DK or Bowser.

There are customisable sets of gear that are purchasable via what looks like a reasonably generous in-game currency system. The gear not only enhances the stats of your on-field players, but are imaginative, funny, and look fantastic.

The gear system

Piecing together all you learn from the tutorial into an actual match is initially intimidating, but by the end of the session I was feeling confident, enjoying the game immensely despite the little flaws, and went home desperate for more. The goalkeepers were a slight issue for me. Either superhuman or worryingly inconsistent, and sometimes the whole thing felt a bit too chaotic for its own good.

Up to 8 players can play couch multiplayer, which has beer-fuelled session times written all over it. This could also be an online winner for Nintendo, as you can participate in online custom leagues, and play co-op or against your mates. I want to do this, which is a good sign, as getting me to participate online has been described as being like removing Steve Smith from the crease. Looking forward to this one.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 10th.

The post Nintendo reveals new Splatoon 3 weapon: The Angle Shooter appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As we get closer and closer to the September 9th release for Splatoon 3, Nintendo has revealed a brand new weapon that’ll be part of the game when it launches.

The Angle Shooter for Splatoon 3 was revealed via a Tweet from the Splatoon North America account,

Squid Research Lab coming to you directly with a report about a new sub weapon that’s as direct as they come. The Angle Shooter launches a perfectly straight line far into the distance and will reflect off any surfaces it encounters. It’s more exciting than it sounds—trust us!

It sounds fairly confusing, but thankfully there’s a video of it in action that’s been released, and a little more information, also via Twitter.

Back on May 9th the same account also shared information on the charger weapons (“hold ZR for a powerful shot that can hit faraway targets”), like the Classic Squiffer and the E-liter 4k.

Splatoon 3 is bringing back the horde based co-op mode Salmot Run, which was a fan favourite for Splatoon 2, but was a bit of an annoyance because it was timed, and only available at certain times. Many (myself included) are hoping Nintendo has learned its lesson and this will just be a mode you can play any time you fancy it.

Speaking of Splatoon 2, the DLC for that game (Octo Expansion) is currently free for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers, and it’s a decent chunk of content. There’s a load of single player missions to play through and it’s a lot of fun.

Nintendo just loves to drop surprise announcements on everyone, doesn’t it? A new Indie World Showcase will be airing at 3pm UK time on Wednesday, May 11th, and honestly nobody really knows what to expect from this one.

The usual “Hollow Knight Silksong when?” posts and comments will surely appear, but really, we’re at the stage where we haven’t got a clue about any games being shown. The only other information about this Nintendo Indie World Showcase we have is that it’ll be “roughly 20 minutes of information on upcoming indie games headed to Nintendo Switch”.

Nintendo has been on fire recently with announcements. First we got the news that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was being brought forward to September, then we got the even better news of a Splatoon 3 release date, and that the previous game’s DLC was going free for Nintendo Switch + Expansion Pack members.

In a recent earnings report it’s also been said that Bayonetta 3 is still due to hit in financial year 2022, but that’s a case of “we’ll believe it when we see it” for most people.

It’ll be interesting to see if we get some news on the No Man’s Sky port for Nintendo Switch as that’s an indie. Likewise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge must be getting a release date soon, and potentially we could see more of Omori, Dungeon Munchies, or even Sea of the Stars. Then there’s Sports Story, the sequel to Golf Story which seems to have vanished off the face of the earth for now.

We won’t have to wait long at least, as there’s less than 24 hours until we can all settle in for a 20 minute showcase of some upcoming indies that’ll be aiming to set the Switch on fire, perhaps very soon?

One of the biggest games of 2022 for Nintendo and fans of the Switch, Splatoon 3 has got a released date, and it’s coming on September 9th. Even better, if you own Splatoon 2, you can now play the Octo Expansion DLC for free if you have a Nintendo Switch + Expansion Pack membership.

Nintendo has also released a new video showing an extended look at Turf War mode for Splatoon 3, which is a 4v4 mode. The video shows a new stage called Eeltail Alley, but also reveals a new bow-shaped weapon type called the Stringer. This weapon lets you sling ink sideways and vertically.

In addition to frantic 4-v-4 multiplayer matches, Splatoon 3 also features a fresh single-player campaign and the next iteration of the co-op Salmon Run mode. In the single-player story mode, players will join Agent 3 in a fight against the unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze.

When diving into Salmon Run, players can ink up with others to fend off waves of dangerous Salmonid bosses, some of which are colossal in size!

Back to Splatoon 2 for a moment, Nintendo sent us over the instructions for how you grab if for free if you’re a member of the Nintendo Switch Online+ Expansion Pack membership. If you’re unsure, this is the additional tier that nets you things like the Mario Kart extra tracks, and the retro N64 games.

NSO+ Expansion Pack

To play the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC as part of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, players can download the DLC for no extra charge from its product information page on Nintendo eShop. After finding the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC on Nintendo eShop on their Nintendo Switch, they can select “Download” in the “Content for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Members” section at the top of the page.

Nintendo seem to be just throwing release dates out there at the moment, because although the Advance Wars remakes are on hold due to the situation in Ukraine, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 got a new (early) release date recently.

Splatoon 3 is coming on September 9th, Splatoon 2 is out now – both are exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

]]>

One of Nintendo’s biggest releases this year has been brought forward, that’s right, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is coming early. Originally planned for September, the highly anticipated RPG is now coming on July 29th. With so many huge games coming in the earlier months of this year, you have to wonder what else Nintendo have coming this year.

“Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for Nintendo Switch is arriving earlier than expected! Originally announced to release in September 2022, the game will now release on 29th July 2022. In this latest entry in the long-running role-playing series, players embark on an epic adventure that tells a grand tale with “life” as its central theme while connecting the futures of the two previous mainline Xenoblade Chronicles games.

Players will step into the roles of protagonists Noah and Mio amid turmoil between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Six characters hailing from those nations join forces to learn the truth behind their conflict, and set their sights for Swordsmarch, a land pierced by a giant sword.

The new trailer reveals the background to the group’s journey in Aionios, a vast and sublime natural world, and reveals new details of the battle system:

– Battle with up to seven characters: Like in previous Xenoblade Chronicles games, battles start by facing enemies directly in the field. Players can control Noah’s party of six as well as additional characters they’ll meet during the adventure. Each character has their own role in battle, which allows for diverse strategies.

– Class change: Noah is a Swordfighter, specializing in close range attacks, while Mio is a Zephyr, drawing enemy attention while evading their strikes. Thus, each character has their own class with their own strengths. Progressing in the adventure, players can change characters’ classes, creating a customised party.

– New Interlink system: Each of the tag-team pairs, Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, Eunie and Taion can make use of the Interlink system if certain conditions are met. They will then combine into a giant form called Ouroboros. Each Ouroboros has its own powerful move set, and deciding when to transform can be the key to winning a battle.”

The post Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer shows new and returning characters appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

As one of the big Nintendo Switch releases of the Summer, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a bit different. For starters, it’s not the typical “broad appeal” type game you might expect from Nintendo, instead being a musou genre title.

It’s the second game in the Fire Emblem Warriors series, which first saw the light of day back in September 2017 and even came to 3DS. This new game, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, is yet again developed by Koei Tecmo, and is due out on June 24th. This new trailer shows off new and returning characters from the series, and is called Intertwined fates – Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

Along with the new trailer, Nintendo has reminded everyone of the story for the game, as follows:

In this new tale, the future rulers of the three nations that govern Fódlan cross paths with Shez – a mercenary on a mission. How will this chance encounter change the future of the continent? Players will guide Shez through this yet unseen story and its three diverging paths.

In Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, players can explore the encampment and interact with allies before heading into the fray. It’s possible to enjoy training, tasty meals and conversations together, strengthening bonds and unlocking new abilities that could turn the tide in battle.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer shows new and returning characters

Players can give orders to allies in real time, while hacking and slashing through hordes of enemies. Some strategical elements from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, such as Adjutants, are also making a comeback. These allies can protect the player and help them unleash powerful moves called Partner Specials.

Forces can be manoeuvred across the map while keeping an eye on objectives. Extra events, such as the appearance of Survey Spots, the merchant Anna who sells valuable items and more can be found on the map as well.

It’s possible to freely change character classes to be prepared for any enemy encounter. The unique traits of companions with different classes can be utilised for a variety of tactical combinations.

The trailer shows off some of these gameplay elements, and the game is also getting a limited edition which features an artbook, a tapestry map of Fódlan, a set of five acrylic figurines, and a character postcard set, as well the game itself.

The post Kirby and the Forgotten Land might be the biggest surprise of 2022 | Hands-on preview appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Kirby and the Forgotten Land was another one of those Nintendo games. You know the type: the ones that are decent, but seem like gap fillers before the “main event” comes along. The thing is, based on what I’ve played so far, Kirby and the Forgotten Land might be the biggest surprise of the year. Presuming the rest of the game is as good as the first world, HAL and Nintendo has done the unthinkable. This isn’t just a good Kirby game, this might be the best Kirby game. It’s brilliant, so far, folks.

In fact, the game that most comes to mind when playing it is Super Mario Odyssey. Now look, I don’t say that lightly, Odyssey is one of the best Mario games, nay, one of the best platformers ever made, but Kirby is doing everything right so far to recapture a similar kind of magic that his brother from another mother platform-mascot did. Like all Kirby games, you suck up things to gain their abilities. But unlike previous entries in the series, here, the discovery and exploration from Odyssey is tantalising.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land: explore and adventure

The approach is slightly less open, and it’s more like previous 3D Mario adventures. You pick a level, do the main objective (free the Waddle-Dees), and there is a multitude of side-missions, so to speak, that you can replay for. This is where the discovery comes in. It’s got that magical “I wonder if…” feeling to it. You see something, you check it: it rewards you. The levels feel like smaller Odyssey worlds, chock-full of paths and things to do. There are hidden items and collectibles everywhere.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land: explore and adventure

Crucially, it controls beautifully, too. Even during boss fights, where switching your ability midway through can feel tricky, there’s always another viable option. You could suck up and launch back at the boss the stars they spit out. Or alternatively, just beat them up with whatever “suit” you’re wearing. It’s not a new thing for Kirby to shift into whatever he sucks, but the speed and grace with which it happens in Forgotten Land really does remind me of tossing Cappy at a “thing” to see if it works.

Packed with things to do

It’s all done with the usual colourful Nintendo panache you’d expect, of course. The major draw this time around (aside from the overhaul to the way it feels, plays, and looks) is that you can now use “mouthful mode”. This is pretty much what it sounds like, with the ability to suck up larger items than Kirby should be able to. It’s always funny, whether it’s a car, set of stairs, vending machine, or… actually, no spoilers, you need to see some of this for yourself. It’s not just a visual gag, either, all of these “mouthful” items have a mechanical purpose which itself can create a chuckle, or lead you to yet another secret room.

kirby-and-the-forgotten-land-so-much-to-do

Outside of the glorious (so far) levels, you can upgrade your abilities by finding blueprints in levels, and there’s a full town to develop too by grabbing as many Waddle Dees as you can per level. There are extra stages called “Treasure Road” which, frankly, will test your skills as the “par times” are outrageous in some cases. There are additional mini-games and a lot more that I’ve barely scratched the surface of.

Could be something truly special

I had a feeling about Kirby and the Forgotten Land from the recent trailers. That said, I’ve never been a huge fan of the little pink hoover, nor his games. I can only really say how surprised, borderline stunned I am at how much I’ve enjoyed this Switch entry. I hadn’t expected to laugh, and I certainly hadn’t expected to be sat alone in my office and actually stand up and clap something that happened in a cut-scene. Strap in folks, you might have thought the year couldn’t get any better for games, but if this keeps up the pace, it’s going to be something truly special indeed.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is out on Switch on March 25, 2022.

The post The first Nintendo Direct of 2022 is tomorrow appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Set your alarms and prepare for the money concerns to begin, as the first Nintendo Direct of 2022 is tomorrow. At the fairly late time of 10pm, Nintendo will be streaming a showcase of games that will (mostly) be coming in the first half of the year. It seems likely we’ll find out more about upcoming titles we already know are coming, but I’d expect a few surprises too.

The Switch has plenty of big games that we know about coming out this year. Next month alone sees Triangle Strategy, Chocobo GP and Kirby and the Forgotten Land releasing, and all three of those could appear in tomorrow’s stream. April’s Advance Wars remake could also get a bit of screen time too.

There are also plenty of games that don’t have a release date, that could get one tomorrow. Perhaps Mario & Rabbids Spark of Hope is coming sooner than we think, or possibly Splatoon 3. Another threequel that we are awaiting a firm date on is Bayonetta 3, and after it was confirmed that is was coming in 2022 in the final direct of last year a date is surely coming soon.

We can’t speculate about an upcoming Direct without mentioning the unnamed sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Is there a chance that BotW 2 could be coming in the first half of 2022. It seems unlikely to me, but maybe Nintendo has some big plans for the rest of this insane year of video games.

Of course there’s always a chance something completely unexpected happens tomorrow. Will Mario Odyssey 2 get a surprise announcement? Is Hollow Knight: Silksong actually going to release soon? Is Pikmin 4 in development? Will there be a brand new Mario Kart on Switch any time soon? Nobody knows but the big N at this point, so we’ll have to tune in to the first Nintendo Direct of 2022 tomorrow night and find out from them.

While it’s more balanced than the usual games in the series, the Pokemon Legends Arceus statue puzzle is one of the few areas of the main story fans may get stuck on. It’s not brutally tough or anything like that, but it’s one of very few puzzles in the main game.

It’s fairly late on in the story as well, over halfway, but to progress you’ll have to solve three puzzles that are based on the environment around you.

What is the Pokemon Legends Arceus statue puzzle?

Put simply, in a temple there are multiple statues that are facing strange directions. At the end of each area there is a closed door with the symbols for rock, ice, and steel on them. You have to work out the pattern based on the way the statues are facing, and check their chests to find out which element they represent, and thus the order of the answers.

What’s the solution?

What is the Pokemon Legends Arceus statue puzzle?

The first room, you’ll need to answer in this order: Rock, steel, ice.

Second door opens to the following pattern: Ice, rock, steel, rock, ice

And finally, the third door requires the following: Steel, ice, rock, ice, steel, rock

It’s easy to get confused in the third room because the prior doors make it seem as though you have to include other parts of the temple in the solution. Congratulations, on with your adventure, and go finish Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

So if you want, you could try out Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for free now, and if you like it enough, buy it at a discount in the next couple of days.

You can check out the tweet from Nintendo of America below:

We reviewed Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and gave it an 8.5 / 10. Here’s what Nick Gillham had to say about it:

The best part is that this is a great game to play on the go, the levels are short enough to crack out a couple on a short commute or loads on a long one, and they’re packed with extra challenges that take little time to accomplish as well. Yes there are some problems with the transition from machine to machine(s), but this is still a very welcome return of this brand of puzzle-action. I really hope that people do support this re-release because it might give Nintendo that push to make a sequel and that would be very welcome indeed.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is out now on Nintendo Switch.

GOTY 2021: Most Anticipated Games of 2022 https://www.godisageek.com/2021/12/goty-2021-most-anticipated-games-of-2022/ Fri, 24 Dec 2021 14:00:15 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=258374 It's raining games.

The post GOTY 2021: Most Anticipated Games of 2022 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

This year has been a roller coaster when it comes to games, but the most anticipated games of 2022 list was brutal for us to rank. We did our deliberations live to tape, so to speak, and we started with a shortlist of 39 games. Yes, you read that right: 39 games for 2022 that were confirmed either with a release date or as “definitely coming in 2022”.

In many ways, we’ve been burned by our looks towards the future. We almost renamed this award the “Dying Light 2’s most anticipated games of 2022 award”. That might seem harsh, but in past years we’ve voted for that game, and other games, which have been delayed. There’s one game on this list I personally think might not hit 2022, but I’ll leave that to you to guess. For now, here’s our list of most anticipated games of 2022. See if you can spot a theme, why not? Oh and check out all the other holiday Game of the Year 2021 content, here.

5. A Plague Tale: Requiem

Given that we awarded the first game from this series our Game of the Year award in 2019, it’s perhaps not a surprise that it’s in our top five most wanted for next year. Due out in 2022, with no specific month yet, here’s the official word on what the sequel will bring to PC, and new-generation consoles: “Embark on a heartrending journey into a brutal, breathtaking world, and discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival. Strike from the shadows or unleash hell with a variety of weapons, tools and unearthly powers”.

4. Elden Ring

Given that this is a brand new experience from one of the team’s favourite developers (FromSoftware), again, this is perhaps not a shock to see it in the top five most wanted for 2022. We’ve had a chance to play it and loved what we’ve seen thus far. Somehow Bloodborne didn’t top our list back in 2015, so perhaps 2022 might be the year a From-game does it. It’s up against some stiff competition, mind you.

3. Horizon Forbidden West

I’ll blame Zelda for why I played Horizon Zero Dawn so late in the year. But I fell in love with it. So much so that when the game finally came to PC, I jumped at the chance to right my wrongs and stick a big old 9.5/10 score on it. We know the sequel will be expansive and offer new skills and ways to play. Honestly, there’s nobody who wants to play this more than me, but I think most of the team feel the same way, and can’t wait to see Aloy’s first PlayStation 5 adventure.

2. The Sequel to Breath of the Wild

Look, the last trailer release said it’s coming in 2022, okay? Will it make next year? We’ve included it because we believe Nintendo on this one. Who knows what it’ll be… we don’t even know what it’s called yet! But regardless, this game was only beaten to Game of the Year in 2017 because Super Mario Odyssey also came out. What a year that was, right?

1. God of War Ragnarok

It may have won Game of the Year 2018 for us at a canter, but God of War (2018) is a game myself and few of the team feel is without peers. We media types like to use terms like “masterpiece” pretty regularly, but I still think about God of War and how I wish I hadn’t platinumed it so I had reason to go back. The PC version is out next year, and that’s enough excuse for me to play it again.

A brand news Nintendo Indie World Showcase will be airing on December 15th, here’s how you can watch it, and what to expect.

First of all, don’t expect news on the likes of Splatoon 3, The Sequel to Breath of the Wild, or anything like that. This is going to be around 20 minutes of indie games that are coming soon to Nintendo Switch..

There’s actually an indie world hub you can click here to visit. That will show the info you need to know, but otherwise, you can watch the show at 5pm UK time (6pm European CET) below:

Who knows, maybe we’ll get some info on Hollow Knight Silksong. There’s been lots of indie game demos released for Xbox recently, titles like Nobody Saves the World is looking great. Fingers crossed it’ll come to Switch, too. Don’t shoot us for hoping for some Silksong news, we don’t have any information other than hope in our hearts!

5pm UK time, tomorrow (15th December). Be there… or catch up later, it’s up to your really.

Get ready to give your brain a workout. The demo for Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is available to download on Nintendo Switch as of today from the Nintendo eShop.

You may or may not remember the original Big Brain Academy, which released on the Nintendo DS way back in 2005, or its 2007 sequel on the Wii, but the new version on Switch aims to modernise the concept. It features categories that ask you to Visualize, Identify, Memorize, Analyse or Compute data, in an effort to not only determine your brainpower but also give it a boost, too.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain demo

Billed as a multiplayer party game, Brain vs. Brain will offer competitive challenges that will see you rise from the lowly “Sprout” class to “Super Elite”. Hosted by the distinguished Dr. Lobe, the multiple modes are designed to put your brain through a rigorous workout.

Upon release, full game will feature additional modes as well as the ability to earn Big Brain Brawn, which rewards you with in-game currency to buy cosmetics, such as outfits, for your avatar. There’s also a Test mode, Practice mode and a Ghost Clash Mode, which pits you against data collected from players all around the world.

In addition to this, you can challenge anyone who has a profile on your Nintendo Switch, any of your friends and family who own their own, or even people all over the globe.

The eShop demo features activities from the Identify, Visualize and Compute categories in “Stretch mode”, as well as a trial version of Party mode. Anyone on the fence about Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain or unsure what it’s all about should definitely give the demo a look.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch on December 3rd 2021.

Chuchel is coming to Nintendo Switch https://www.godisageek.com/2021/11/chuchel-is-coming-to-nintendo-switch/ Tue, 09 Nov 2021 10:18:18 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=257322 It's pronounced Choo-chel.

As one of the weirdest yet most charismatic games of 2018, Chuchel went under a lot of people’s radars, especially being a PC-only title, but now it’s coming to Nintendo Switch, so more people can try it.

We actually didn’t get around to reviewing Chuchel here when it came out, so here’s hoping the Switch version gives us a chance to rectify that grievous error. I did, myself, have a look at the game with a short let’s play, however, which you can see below.

From what I remember from three years ago, I didn’t want to spoil too many of the puzzles, so it should be fine to watch even if you plan to play Chuchel on Switch when it comes out in 2022.

This is all thanks to a deal done with the developer to let RedDeer become the co-developer for the Nintendo Switch version. Dominik Czarniga, creative director at RedDeer, said: “Chuchel charmed me with its original graphic style, great humor, and unconventional puzzles. I’m glad that we will be able to use our experience in creating and porting games for Nintendo Switch to develop a new version of this classic adventure game for this console”.

Lukas Kunce, PR manager at Amanita Design, seems equally please this will be happening. Kunce said: “To partner up with RedDeer.games and together bring the whimsical adventures of CHUCHEL onto Nintendo Switch is a perfect opportunity for us to introduce the game to a whole new audience”.

Chuchel is out now for PC, iOS, and Android, but the Switch version will be coming in 2022.

Niantic and Nintendo launch Pikmin Bloom mobile app https://www.godisageek.com/2021/10/niantic-and-nintendo-launch-pikmin-bloom-mobile-app/ Wed, 27 Oct 2021 10:30:28 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=256876 It's in the flowers that this one shines.

In terms of surprise announcements, on the tweeted:

for the Japanese release of Pikmin, we didn’t see a Niantic developed mobile app called Pikmin Bloom coming.

You’d be forgiven for watching the trailer (below) and still not being entirely sure what it is, so let’s explain: the idea is basically that with this app, it’ll encourage you to go for a wander and get some fresh air. It’s a step counter that lets you collect Pikmin while you walk and make flowers bloom.

You never know, maybe this is Nintendo testing the water to see just how popular the Pikmin IP is. Pikmin 3: Deluxe Edition came to Nintendo Switch after snot selling so brilliantly on Wii U (like every game). The Switch version felt definitive, it seems, as our critic Chris Hyde said: “Pikmin 3 Deluxe has blossomed on Nintendo Switch into the complete package. With excellent coop and bags of content, it’s an experience not to be missed”.

Have a quick look at our video review, below, to see why Nintendo should bring Pikmin back for a fourth game!

The trailer for Bloom, however, features Shigeru Miyamoto, which is always a treat for people. He explained with Bloom you can take pictures with Pikmin and save them in your journal.

Pikmin Bloom is out now for mobile devices.
