Sony has announced its Days of Play week-long promotion for PlayStation games, hardware, and more, is back for 2023 and is kicking off on June 2nd.

The announcement was made via the official Sony Blog from Senior Direct of Global Store & Services, Gareth Barker, who explained that “Days of Play 2023 will begin on June 2 at 12:01 AM until June 12 at 11:59 PM local time in each region. Our official Days of Play site will be updated with more information later this week, so be sure to check the site for the latest details. Please note that offers may vary by region and are available while supplies last”.

While we don’t know specific games that will be on offer yet, we know that PlayStation Plus will be on offer, with Barker saying “For both new and current PlayStation Plus members, all 12-month plans will be offered at 25% off – this includes Essential, Extra, and Premium/Deluxe”, and that “Current PlayStation Plus Essential and Extra members can also receive 25% off a 1-month, 3-month, or 12-month membership when upgrading to a higher tier plan – it’s a great time to try PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe”.

There will also be deals directly from PlayStation, with codes DOPSAVE15 (up to 15% on select PS5 Accessories, including DualSense charging station, HD camera, media remote, Pulse 3D wireless headsets, select PS5 console covers) and DOPSAVE40 (up to 40% on select PS5 games) that will be applicable via this link.

As you’d expect, there will be 20% off “Gear” using the DAYSOFPLAY23 code. For those that don’t know, the Gear is PlayStation branded clothing, or things like mugs and other merchandise. There will also be sales on specific digital games, though again, we don’t know what just yet.

There’s an official Days of Play site (that will update presumably on June 2nd) you can keep an eye on for all the deals, right here.

PlayStation Plus April monthly games include Sackboy: A Big Adventure https://www.godisageek.com/2023/03/playstation-plus-april-monthly-games-include-sackboy-a-big-adventure/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 08:16:26 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=275782 Time to Meet Your Maker.

]]>

Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus April monthly free games available across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and one of them is a console exclusive in the form of Sackboy: A Big Adventure. We say console exclusive because it released for PC not too long ago.

The three PlayStation Plus April games will become available to players on April 4th up until May 1st, with Sackboy: A Big Adventure perhaps leading the charge, but it might not overshadow Meet Your Maker, a brand new game launching day and date on PS Plus. Meet Your Maker is from the same developer as Dead by Daylight, and the two games are having a crossover at the moment.

We previously knew about Meet Your Maker being the main attraction of the PlayStation Plus April monthly games, and it’ll be the PS4 and PS5 version. Sony (via the official blog) gave this as the description of the title:

Meet Your Maker is a post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game where every level is designed by players. Switch between roles as you mastermind devious Outposts filled with traps and guards, then gear up for methodical fast-paced combat raiding other players’ creations, gaining an edge by choosing the right loadout (melee, ranged, defensive), perks, and consumables to match your challenge or playstyle. Combine your creativity and build with a friend or join forces to raid Outposts as a team of two.

Sackboy is also the PS4 and PS5 version, while rounding out the three titles for April is Tails of Iron (PS4 and PS5, also) which Chris White scored a 9/10, saying, “Tails of Iron is a special little game. It takes a simple approach to combat and finds a way to make every fight a tense encounter of risk and reward. The hand-drawn art style drew me right in, and the variety in gear and the need to constantly experiment against different enemy types had me hooked throughout. It’s Souls-like inspirations are felt around every corner, but it is very much its own thing”.

Battlefield 2042 is coming to PlayStation Plus in March https://www.godisageek.com/2023/02/battlefield-2042-is-coming-to-playstation-plus-in-march/ Fri, 24 Feb 2023 08:56:40 +0000 https://www.godisageek.com/?p=274073 Essential level gets the goods.

The post Battlefield 2042 is coming to PlayStation Plus in March appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

PlayStation has confirmed the three games for PS Plus in March subscribers will get, and Battlefield 2042 is leading the charge.

While it was off to a rocky start, Battlefield 2042 has just been updated in a major way, with a return to the class system, which is more familiar to long-time players of the series. There are now four classes (Assault, Recon, Support, Engineer), but there are also major weapon improvements, balancing changes, a reworked Breakaway map, and even the audio and visual side of the game has been overhauled.

Battlefield 2042 is now in season 4, called “Eleventh Hour”, and with it coming to PlayStation Plus in March, it’s not a bad time to have a try, if you’ve always wanted to, but been put off by the early negative impressions.

Elsewhere, Minecraft Dungeons is also joining the PlayStation Plus Essential Tier, and this is another game that’s improved over time, with a wealth of content added via DLC. Back in May 2020 when it was released, Mick said that “Minecraft Dungeons is enjoyable in small doses and will amuse younger gamers for a while. And it has potential, heaps of it, so in a year’s time it may be a very different beast. But I’m afraid that right now I can’t shake the notion that this is a bit of a squandered opportunity that really should have done more with its source material”.

The final of the three titles to join PS Plus Essential on March 7th is Code Vein. Another Mick review, he said in 2019 that “Code Vein presents a unique and, dare-I-say, slightly more casual alternative to titles like Bloodborne and Dark Souls. It’s no revolution, but, perhaps ironically, Code Vein is an enjoyable, compelling Soulslike with a great deal of heart”.

The post First major PS5 update brings new storage options and more appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Sony has announced the first major system software update for the PS5 console will be rolling out globally on April 14, 2021. The update will let you store PS5 games on USB extended storage, share gameplay across PS5 and PS4 consoles, and more.

PS5 Storage Expansion and Management

PS5 update

You will be able to transfer your PS5 games to compatible USB extended storage from your console’s internal storage. This means you can extend the storage capabilities of your PS5 console, and you can seamlessly copy your PS5 games back to the console’s internal storage when you’re ready to play. It is faster to reinstall PS5 games from USB extended storage than to re-download or copy them from a disc.

It’s worth noting that PS5 titles can’t be played from USB extended storage or directly downloaded to USB extended storage. However, games that you transfer or copy back to internal storage will automatically update when applicable. In addition, you can select which game modes you want to install (such as campaign or multiplayer) for select titles that support the option.

New Social Features for PS4 and PS5 Consoles

PS5 update

 • Cross-generation Share Play. PS4 and PS5 players will now be able to Share Play together while chatting in parties. This means PS5 console users can let their friends on PS4 consoles view their game screen, or even try out the PS5 games through Share Play, and vice versa. Options include the ability to share your screen with a friend, pass your controller virtually to a friend, or pass a second controller virtually to play co-op games together.
 • Request to Join Game Session. A selection of your friends’ joinable game sessions will now appear on both PS5 and PS4 consoles, allowing for more gameplay opportunities together. The “Request to Join” option also serves as a shortcut to sending a game invite, reducing the time it takes for you to get into games with friends. Through the Privacy Settings menu, you can modify who can interact with you through parties, games and messages.

Enhanced Control and Personalization Options for PS5 Consoles

PS5 update

 • Improved Game Base. The Game Base menu has been improved for quicker access to important content and features. You can now easily switch between Parties and Friends to start chatting with your existing parties or see what each of your online friends is up to. In addition, you can turn notifications on or off for each of the parties you’re in.
 • Disable Game Chat or Adjust Players’ Volume. You can now quickly disable in-game chat, which turns off your mic audio and the voice audio of other players. Additionally, you can easily adjust the individual voice chat volume of other players in the same chat so you don’t have to ask your friends to lower or increase their mic volume each time.
 • Game Update Pre-download. Once it’s enabled by developers, title updates for games will pre-download to your console if the “automatic updates” setting is enabled and your console is on or in rest mode. This will let you start playing the latest version of a game immediately after the update’s release.
 • Customize Game Library. With the ability to search your library or hide games from view, it’s now easier to find content and personalize your view of your game library.
 • Screen Zoom. You can now adjust the magnification of the screen to suit your preference from the Settings menu.
 • New Trophy Settings and Stats Screen. The level of trophies that results in automatic capture of a screenshot or video clip can now be customized — so you can now choose to only capture and save images/videos of moments when you earn higher-grade trophies, like Gold or Platinum. We’re also introducing a new player Trophy Stats screen, where you can check out the summary of your trophy level and status at a glance.

New Features for PlayStation App

New features will also be available for the PlayStation App to make it easier to connect with your console experience remotely. Recent updates introduced the ability to save products in a wishlist, get notifications when your friends are online, and change your console online status. More updates will be rolled out in the coming weeks, including the ability to join a multiplayer session on PS5 from the app, manage your PS5 console storage, compare trophy collections with friends, and sort and filter products shown in the PlayStation Store.

This PS5 update will be rolling out April 14, 2021.

It’s that time of year now, when everyone is playing catch-up ahead of the all-powerful (and all-consuming) #GIAGGOTY. But before our celebrations and awards can kick off this year, we’ve been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising (nee-Gods and Monsters) and… it’s a massive shock how incredible that game is. Yes, it’s very Breath of the Wild, but what else has tried that since it came out? Shh, we know Genshin Impact exists.

Adam Carroll has been playing some PS5 games like Demon’s Souls and Miles Morales, but otherwise, we’ve been checking out many of the PS4 games that got updated to PS5 titles thanks to, well, not smart delivery, because nothing is smart about how that stuff works. Regardless, it’s a very next-gen pod this week, but what do you expect? GAMES ARE OUT!

What is is about Nintendo and Sony releasing massive games in close proximity? Chris White has been playing Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, and it might be the last amazing PS4 game before the new generation of consoles. Meanwhile, Adam Cook has played Paper Mario: The Origami King and loves it despite a few issues. On top of that, Chris has become Tony Stark in Sony and Marvel’s Iron Man VR.

If you watched last night’s State of Play show, you might have spotted this interesting and visually striking game among all the impressive titles shown. Yes, including that little game from Naughty Dog. HUMANITY’s teaser trailer showed huge crowds of people working together and fighting each other in unique scenarios.

HUMANITY is an evolution of a concept that founder Yugo Nakamura began developing three years ago at his company, tha Ltd. Publisher Enhance joined the project in 2018, taking on publishing duties, as well as contributing and consulting on general gameplay and level design.

“From the first early demo I saw, I couldn’t get HUMANITY out of my head,” says Enhance Founder and CEO Tetsuya Mizuguchi. “The whole look and feel of it—manipulating these teeming masses of people—was mesmerizing, especially in VR. I knew right away it could be something special, which is why I couldn’t be more excited to help a visionary like Yugo-san realize its full potential.”

“I’ve long admired the work of Mizuguchi-san and his team; it feels like the perfect fit to be working with the people who made games like Rez and Tetris Effect,“ says tha Founder and Creative Director Yugo Nakamura. “Everyone at tha is working hard to make HUMANITY something that likewise engages all your senses—a fun, challenging game, but also something more meaningful than that. Rest assured we have lots more to show and talk about…”

We’ll bring you more information on HUMANITY as it comes but until then, it’s simply down for release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR in 2020.

Apple has just launched its brand new subscription service, Apple Arcade. For £4.99 a month you get access to over 100 games in the library including some fantastic titles such as Sayonara Wild Hearts and Overland. The best bit, though, is that the first month is free.

This means that you can have a console quality gaming experience on your iPhone or iPad, with Apple TV and MacOS support coming very soon.

Even better, you can pair your PlayStation 4 DualShock4 controller to your device, and it’s very simple to do. Here’s how.

 1. Hold the PlayStation button and the Share button together for a few seconds. You’ll know it’s in pairing mode as the light bar will blink rapidly
 2. With your iPhone (on iOS 13) or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth (make sure Bluetooth is turned on!) and you will see “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless controller”. Touch it, and it’ll be connected.
 3. To be 100% sure it is connected, the DualShock4 light bar will be a gorgeous shade of pink.
 4. Play games with PS4 Dualshock 4 on iPhone or iPad

In case you were wondering if the games are good, we’ve dropped two video reviews to show off some of the highlights.

A little over a year ago, the excellent Wreckfest was unleashed from Early Access on Steam and I thoroughly enjoyed its particular brand of high octane, chassis-shattering racing. Here we are in July 2019, one THQ Nordic acquisition later, and Wreckfest’s console release is just over a month away. That’s probably got something to do with this new trailer being released, I imagine…

It’s worth knowing that Wreckfest will be arriving on consoles with two editions. The standard is exactly as you would expect, whereas the Deluxe Edition comes with the season pass, allowing access to 20 new cars, 20 new roof decorations and a bunch of other customisation options like rims and armour, all to be released bit-by-bit after launch. Alongside free content too, it seems.

The digital Deluxe Edition also comes with 24 hours’ early access. Does that make it three editions, technically? I dunno.

Owners of the PC version aren’t being left out, either. When the console version launches, a big ol’ free update will land on PC, adding all this:

 • 3 entirely new tracks and 1 new derby arena
 • 3 new crazy challenge vehicles
 • 1 new reward car for finishing the career
 • New & improved career events
 • Several new paint jobs for existing vehicles
 • Additional daytimes for all tracks
 • … and some more cool stuff!

Wreckfest is out now on PC, and will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 27th.

Sony has today confirmed that they will be altering the PS Plus free Monthly Game line-up for July, by replacing PES 2019 with Detroit: Become Human. After facing a backlash for releasing PES 2019 for free, given that PES 2020 will be launching in just two months on September 10, 2019, it seems Sony has listened an offered an alternative.

This is great news for those who have yet to pick up Detroit: Become Human, and what’s more, the version on offer is the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, meaning it comes with Heavy Rain as a bonus game to enjoy.

See the announcement below on Twitter:

Horizon Chase Turbo is still part of the July PS Plus free Monthly Games line-up with Detroit: Become Human, and both are available for free to PS Plus members to download from today until August 5, 2019.

Opinion | Why I still love E3 https://www.godisageek.com/2019/06/love-e3/ https://www.godisageek.com/2019/06/love-e3/#respond Wed, 26 Jun 2019 12:01:21 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=223314 Good things come to those who wait

The post Opinion | Why I still love E3 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Now that the dust has settled on another year of big announcements, CGI trailers, nice surprises and not-so-nice disappointments, the internet has had its say on E3 2019. The verdict? Lacklustre, apparently.

Although I’m inclined to agree, at least as far as some of the biggest names go, I couldn’t help but be drawn into the hype and the fun of the whole show. It’s the same every year and you know what? I bloody love it. I love the build-up, as we all throw our hats into the ring, trying to predict what will be shown and when that big game will finally arrive. This year’s pre-show was even better, with several games announced before the conferences even got underway. We had Death Stranding’s release date arriving with that almighty, eight-minute-long trailer that still managed to give nothing away. We had the surprise of the Darksiders Genesis reveal, brought to us by some of the series’ original creators at Airship Syndicate. We even got the long-awaited news that the creator of the stunning Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios, is making Baldur’s Gate 3! It might not be arriving anytime in the near future, but it’s still darned exciting.

When the show’s conferences began, or lack thereof in the case of this year’s EA Play, we finally got to see the gameplay for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which looks like it takes plenty of cues from The Force Unleashed, something I can certainly get behind. Yes, I’d still prefer a protagonist that wasn’t your usual human dude, but the post-Order 66 Star Wars era has so much potential and I hope Respawn does it justice. Those folks know what they’re doing when it comes to action games, so I’m quietly confident Fallen Order will deliver when it launches in November.

You know what else I love? The pre-Xbox chatter. Every year, before the Xbox, Nintendo and Sony (well, not them this year) shows, the social medias are buzzing with excitement for what the “big three” will announce. Yes okay, there are still an uncomfortably large number of people that still subscribe to the whole “console wars” thing, and love nothing more than to take shots at their perceived “enemies,” despite some of them declaring that they’re not fanboys of one particular console or another, but thankfully almost all of the people on my Twitter feed are decent folk who simply love games and want to be excited by them.

Deep down, I want to believe that most people enjoy the excitement and promise of what each first party might show, and I’m very rarely disappointed on that front. So when Xbox began announcing games left, right and centre, it was great to see the buzz online. Games like Minecraft Dungeons (still amazing to think that Microsoft is making multiplatform games) and Spiritfarer, both drawing “oohs” and “ahhs” like a circus performance; the almost unbearably delightful announcement of Forza Horizon 4’s LEGO DLC that had me grinning like a little kid, and last year’s acquisition, Ninja Theory, announcing its new PvP hero title Bleeding Edge. Okay, that one was leaked beforehand and honestly, it was disappointing to see a studio renowned for its storytelling moving away from that to pursue multiplayer stuff. Still, it’s always great to see Ninja Theory’s new games and it’s yet more proof that it’s a developer constantly pushing itself to try new things. You have to respect and admire that.

On a much more personal note, despite not really being an advocate for the next generation just yet, the Project Scarlett news and in particular that beautiful Halo: Infinite trailer and announcement that it would be a launch title for Microsoft’s next Xbox in Holiday 2020, really got me. The idea that I may get a new Xbox with a very shiny new Halo game (and probably a new Forza) was a sudden and surprisingly exciting prospect. I mean, that Halo trailer. Chills. Excuse me a moment while I go watch it again.

Of course, without Sony it was a strange E3, like something was missing. Still, Nintendo certainly didn’t skimp on the games and surprises, helping to fill the void of PlayStation’s absence. My Twitter feed was going crazy at the first appearance of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and rightly so. Tom Nook will once again own our asses in March 2020. I know we wanted it this year, but with a more invigorated team under less pressure, I think we can all appreciate what Nintendo is doing and we certainly know that we’re going to buy Animal Crossing on the Switch, regardless of when it arrives. It’s Animal Crossing, for goodness sake.

I love how Nintendo brings out the child in all of us, how we all made heart-eyes at the sight of that adorable Link’s Awakening Amiibo, and seeing Gooigi had us smiling until our cheeks hurt. The Duck Hunt dog’s appearance, before fan favourites Banjo-Kazooie pulled the old switcheroo, announcing their appearance in Smash Bros., was masterful. But in the same Nintendo Direct, CD Projekt RED’s phenomenal The Witcher 3 was revealed to be coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console, in a move that makes us all wonder just what (s)witchcraft is being performed to get it running on hardware that seems rather underpowered. What little we saw, however, made it look surprisingly good!

Speaking of CD Projekt RED, how about Keanu Reeves announcing Cyberpunk 2077’s release date, as well as his appearance in the game? A breathtaking move, you might say. Normally, celebrity appearances are a bit cringey to say the least, but Keanu’s recent re-emergence into the spotlight and his genuinely nice personality earned him the most memorable moment of the entire show. He had fun on Microsoft’s stage, the crowd loved it, and it brought a real warmth to the evening. That warmth continued, with Tango Gameworks’ Ikumi Nakamura capturing the hearts of everyone watching the otherwise dull Bethesda show, as she enthusiastically announced her new game Ghostwire Tokyo. Ubisoft got in on the action too, with Jon Bernthal bringing his dog Bam Bam onto the stage during his Ghost Recon: Breakpoint appearance. Bam Bam was a very good boy, upstaging the whole Ubisoft show.

Ubisoft was arguably one of the biggest disappointments of E3 2019, showing a bunch of brown shooters and CGI trailers, not to mention a strange mashup mobile game featuring Sam Fisher, which didn’t go down too well with Splinter Cell fans whose patience is wearing very thin at this point. I also have a huge problem with Rainbow Six: Quarantine, as it strays well away from Tom Clancy’s original vision. Yes, it’s an expansion of the limited-time event from Rainbow Six: Siege, but could have easily been made into a new IP instead of once again relying on the Tom Clancy name.

Still, in a bid to keep this positive, Ubisoft did start strong with its extended gameplay debut of the impressive-looking Watch_Dogs Legion, and ended with the tantalising tease of Gods and Monsters, the stylised new mythology-based game from the team that gave us Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. I cannot wait to get more info on that.

This article wasn’t meant to be a look back at the show, but there were so many great games shown that I needed to talk about them a little bit. But that’s the point, isn’t it? We all talked about them, as we do every year. We get excited about the big AAA games like Halo, and we remain passionate about the games that disappoint us, sometimes by their absence (I’m looking at you, Ubisoft). We love the big surprises and some of the fun talking points like Keanu Reeves. We love publishers like Devolver Digital and their insane branding, all the while bringing genuinely brilliant-looking games into the spotlight, usually by small developers that deserve to be seen.

E3 is certainly going through some changes, with EA’s reduced appearance and Sony’s total absence this year, and 2019 especially felt a little like a transition as we wait for the concrete announcements of next generation consoles. That said, this year’s release schedule now looks a whole lot more enticing and the beginning of 2020 looks like it’s going to have a bigger Q1-2 than ever. Before the show, I was in a bit of a gaming funk, as we all go through now and again, unable to really find any interest in anything. I went back to older games, as new stuff didn’t bother me and while I looked forward to E3, I couldn’t see much beyond that for me to care about. Thankfully, while many saw E3 2019 as a disappointment, I still revelled in its bombast – and my faith in 2019’s games was restored.

No matter what others see in the show, it always manages to excite me. Which is exactly why I still love E3.

As of right now PS4 users can change their online ID instead of being stuck with the name you though was the peak of coolness/hilarity back when you picked up your PlayStation console those many years ago.

The first change is free but subsequent changes will cost you £7.99/$9.99 USD/CAD or £3.99/$4.99 USD/CAD if you’re a PS Plus member.

Sony have put together a Q&A to help you make that first change and answer any other burning name change questions you might have.

However there are some kinks in the new name change functionality. The name change isn’t compatible with games made before April 1, 2018 as they weren’t developed to support the feature. There are a list of games and their potential issues over on the Playstation Blog but the problems you may come across are:

 • Your previous Online ID may remain visible to you and other players in some areas.
 • You may lose progress within games, including game saved data, leaderboard data, and progress towards Trophies.
 • Parts of your game and applications may not function properly both online and offline.
 • You may lose access to content (including paid-for content) that you may have acquired for your games including content like add-ons and virtual currency.

Today it was announced that the “hallucinatory adventure” Vane will release in January, exclusively on Sony’s PlayStation 4.

Set in a ruined desert, Vane is an exploratory journey, where players will transform between bird and child form to unravel the land’s mysteries and create a path forward through this expansive landscape filled with ominous caves, mysterious machinery and harrowing storms. As they roam this mythical wasteland, the world reacts to their passage, evolving and building into something altogether different.

Tokyo-based developer Friend & Foe is made up of talent that worked on the likes of The Last Guardian, Killzone, Battlefield 3 and even Bionic Commando. An eclectic mix, eh? The team wanted to make a game in which the player finds their own path through the world, and so has created a world designed to be explored almost to the point of getting lost.

Inspired partly by games like Ico and Journey, Vane is meant to be more unsettling, but you can decide for yourself when it releases on PlayStation 4 on January 15th. Pre-orders are available now through the PlayStation Store, including a dynamic theme as a bonus.

Sony just revealed the content that will be timed exclusive to PS4 owners of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Sony has a marketing deal with Rockstar Games for Red Dead Redemption 2 and that allows them to do bundles and get some timed exclusive content for the game. The exclusive (for 30 days) content is in the base game and Red Dead Online. For the base game PS4 players will be able to customize Arthur Morgan with the Grizzlies Outlaw Outfit. For Red Dead Online beginning November, PS4 players will get 30 days early access to the versatile Arabian horse featuring a custom Alligator skin saddle, and the High Roller double-action revolver. The full list is below:

Grizzlies Outlaw Outfit – available day one in Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode and at the launch of Red Dead Online

A slick but rugged look, the Grizzlies Outlaw Outfit is perfect for exploring the forests of Ambarino.

Featuring a wool-lined, long coat with custom, hand-tooled leather accents, a leather vest with ornate pattern details, stand wing-tip collar with black neckerchief, and custom ornate buckle with matching boot tips, the Grizzlies Outlaw Outfit pays homage to the “boss” of the Northern States, its real-world inspiration.

Red Chestnut Arabian Horse – available at the launch of Red Dead Online

Known for its speed and handling, the Red Chestnut Arabian Horse is in a class above most horses you would find in the wild, with performance a step up from the first tier of available horses.

Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle – available at the launch of Red Dead Online

In addition to its stylish look, the Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle provides a number of benefits when equipped including core Health and Stamina boosts, which increase speed and acceleration for the horse. This saddle is an enhanced version of the basic saddle that comes stock for players when starting Red Dead Online.

High Roller Double-Action Revolver – available at the launch of Red Dead Online

Looks could kill: The High Roller Double-Action Revolver features a polished steel body with unique period-inspired, beautifully detailed engraving work. The deadly, quick draw revolver comes complete with unique playing card and skull elements carved into the grip. Its superior, quick rate of fire over all other revolvers makes it a great choice for mounted combat.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PS4 and Xbox One platforms on October 26.

]]>

Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced as “Play it first on PlayStation 4” at E3 back in 2015.

Since then, the game has been through a lot with developers changing and the release window being mostly absent. Walmart Canada had it listed for Xbox One which is the first instance of any confirmation we have to the remake of the PS1 classic being on non PlayStation platforms. I always expected it to hit PC soon after PS4 but an Xbox One version was never in the picture for most. Today, GAME in Spain has it up for preorder. At this stage it is likely we get an announcement for it at E3 at the Microsoft showcase.

It could still be playable on PS4 first through a demo or something. It is unlikely that the full release (or the first episode) is timed exclusive given the retailer listings though. The listing screencap from GameReactor is below:

Final Fantasy VII Remake is announced for PS4 only at this stage.

Thanks, Gamereactor.eu.

Much like Bushido Blade, this game will reward or punish you depending on your skill and reflexes, as taking even a non-fatal hit will impair your movement. That will likely just prolong the inevitable anyway, leaving you unable to defend against the next sword stroke.

Slice, Dice & Rice is out now on PC and comes to Playstation 4 on February 14. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Good news for fans of gaming headsets, as Sony has announced the imminent release of its new Gold Wireless Headset. Coming to the US this month according to the US Playstation Blog, with the EU release “soon”, it boasts a range of features to enhance the enjoyment of your favourite PS4 games.

Its new, sleek form is even designed to fit over the Playstation VR headset, so you can enjoy 7.1 virtual surround sound for total immersion. As if Resident Evil 7 wasn’t scary enough as it is, you can go all in on soiling yourself now.

For online players, it comes with two hidden, noise-cancelling microphones for crystal clear communication with friends (or enemies, if you’re that kind of player). It’s also compatible with mobile devices, as it comes with a 3.5mm audio cable. Perfect for a blasting out a bit of Slipknot. Kids still listen to them, right? I bet the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack sounds glorious through these, too.

The Headset Companion App is still compatible with this new, enhanced headset, so you’ll be able to configure specific audio profiles for your go-to games.

The Playstation 4 Gold Wireless Headset comes to the US later this month, price at $99.99. Coming soon to Europe.

Bethesda has announced that its second story DLC for the excellent Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is out now on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Available as part of the Deluxe Edition or via the £17.99 The Freedom Chronicles Season Pass, The Diaries of Agent Silent Death sees you play as the titular agent, real name Jessica Valiant. Former OSS agent and assassin, Jessica is hot on the trail of a sinister plot (very mysterious) in the offices of Paragon Pictures in Tinseltown; once a film studio, it’s now a propaganda machine for the Nazis. Speaking of which, there’s never a shortage of Nazis to kill and Agent Silent Death excels at that job. Well, assuming you’re not rubbish at the game, anyway.

7 Indie Games to Watch in 2018 https://www.godisageek.com/2018/01/7-indie-games-to-watch-in-2018/ Tue, 30 Jan 2018 09:24:44 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=202347 Below the radar

The post 7 Indie Games to Watch in 2018 appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

How do you follow a year like 2017? So many fantastic releases, many from indie studios, but it isn’t stopping there. This year has so much potential, with a few long-delayed, Kickstarter-funded games on the horizon. Assuming they actually arrive this year (worries will arise if they’re delayed any longer), 2018 could be one of the best indie years in quite a while.

But which ones should you be keeping an eye out for? Here’s seven that have the potential to be absolute stunners:

Below

I was always going to start with this one. While others have been lambasting Capybara for releasing other games during the extremely lengthy development period of Below, I’ve been (im)patiently watching the drip feeding of information and footage from various events. Actually, that’s a lie; I’ve been moaning after every E3 without a release date. When it finally got a release window and then it was delayed “until it’s done,” I think I might’ve wept.

Taking elements from different survival games and adding combat mechanics similar to Dark Souls (yep, I’m mentioning that game), all wrapped up in an almost Zelda-like visual style; Below is a top-down action-RPG that takes place in the depths of a mysterious island. It also has an interesting roguelike mechanic, as each death sees you take on the mantle of a new adventurer, with your previous character’s corpse still holding on to their belongings.

If Below does finally arrive in 2018 (I’m predicting an E3 “and it’s available now” moment) then I’ll be first in line to get my grubby mitts on it.

Eitr

Another game that has seemingly been in development forever. Developer Eneme Entertainment is really taking its time on this one, but already it’s gathered quite the following and it has produced endless gifs due to the sheer quality of its design and animation.

orse mythology is becoming all the more popular these days, with the new God of War just the latest in a long line of games and other media to embrace this incredibly deep pantheon of gods and monsters. As the Shieldmaiden, your destiny should have been simple, but Loki changed that when he introduced the substance Eitr into the mix, engulfing the great tree Yggdrasil in darkness and perverting the Shieldmaiden’s destiny.

What this means is that you’ll be fighting monsters in an isometric dungeon crawler, complete with..oh god, I have to say it again; Dark Souls-like difficulty and roguelike elements. But honestly, just watching in-development gameplay videos has me salivating, because it looks incredible.

And how often does Devolver Digital get it wrong, when it comes to publishing games?

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Koji Igarashi is a name synonymous with Metroidvania games. More specifically, the Castlevania games that helped to inspire the term. He worked on Symphony of the Night, even going on to produce most of the Castlevania series, including the incredible DS titles.

A few years back, he and his team created a Kickstarter for a Castlevania-inspired adventure. Initially asking for just $500k, the Kickstarter gathered over $5.5million and development soon began, with hype already at fever pitch at the thought of a spiritual successor to Symphony of the Night.

In 2016 a demo was released to Kickstarter backers and was met with much praise and general joy; not something you often see in this industry these days. It really looks like it captures the visual and gameplay style of those classic Castlevania titles, and let’s face it, Konami doesn’t seem to be interested in the franchise anymore, so even a spiritual successor like this is better than nothing. Or Lords of Shadow 2.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards

“But Gaz,” I hear you cry, “this is DLC for an existing game, it shouldn’t be on this list!”

You have a point, but guess what? This is my list and damn it, I’m bloody well putting King of Cards on it. I’ve recently played through the main game on Switch, plus I’ve been struggling through the bastard ‘ard first DLC, Plague of Shadows and pulling my hair out in frustration, before I moved onto the third episode, Spectre of Torment. But it’s such a fantastic game and I am eager to see what Yacht Club brings to the table with this latest addition. Plus, King Knight is such a lovable idiot, ripe for a fun piece of DLC.

Sociable Soccer

I know this technically came out in 2017, but only on Steam Early Access. 2018 sees this spiritual successor to Sensible Soccer arriving on PC and consoles and people should be excited by this. Let’s face it; football games are basically represented by po-faced simulations and not much else, these days. Sociable Soccer aims to bring back the fun of fast-paced, arcade footie complete with ridiculous parodies of real player names.

Already the game has been improved since launch, with the AI and goalkeepers significantly better than in the version I previewed last year. More game modes will be introduced and it’ll even include an homage to FIFA’s Ultimate Team by the time it hits its intended formats (almost all of ‘em, really) later in the year.

The Last Night

Look, no matter what you think of the whole controversy surrounding Tim Soret that came about following The Last Night’s big unveiling at last year’s Xbox E3 briefing, it’s hard to deny just how good the game looked.

Cyberpunk is already in the middle of a resurgence, thanks in no small part to the return of Blade Runner last year; and The Last Night looks heavily inspired by that franchise. Looking like a glorious mash-up of Blade Runner and games like Flashback, all with a delicious layered 2D pixel art visual style.

Hopefully Odd Tales can deliver on the quality shown in that E3 trailer.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Not quite your traditional indie game, but Warhorse Studios went through hell to get this game funded through Kickstarter, after unsuccessfully attempting to find funding through publishers beforehand. Despite Deep Silver eventually taking on publishing duties, this is very much an indie game at heart, only it lies somewhere in that grey area recently occupied by Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice: not quite fully independent, but also not AAA. I suppose the term is AA, but that somehow sounds derogatory to me. Like it’s somehow less than those games with massive publisher backing.

Regardless of your stance on this, there’s no doubt in my mind that it looks incredible. It’s essentially a fully open-world RPG a la Elder Scrolls, only without the fantastical myths and monsters. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is historically authentic, plus you won’t be a one man army as you’ll need to eat and sleep to stay alive, not just fight and earn loot/XP. With horseback combat, real armour and weaponry from the 1400s, the level of detail on offer is astounding.

Only time will tell if it can stand side-by-side with the likes of The Witcher 3 and Skyrim, but considering the much lower budget and the more independent nature of its development, one can only hope that Kingdom Come: Deliverance can, ahem, deliver on its potential when it releases on February 13th.

These are just a handful of indie games due this year, not to mention the ones that haven’t even been announced yet, plus ones that have already arrived (Iconoclasts and Crossing Souls, I’m looking at you). It really looks like 2018 could be another cracking year for independent games.

Surprise! Nearly a year and a half after its release, The King of Fighters XIV is still getting new fighters, with publisher Deep Silver confirming that four new characters will be added to the roster, as paid DLC this April.

The first to be announced is Oswald, making an appearance due to being highly requested by fans. He’s a bit like X-Men’s Gambit, using playing cards as weapons against his opponents, though he looks a bit older. And he’s an ex hitman.

You’ll be able to try out Oswald for yourself, when he and the three as-yet-unannounced fighters hit The King of Fighters XIV on Playstation 4 and PC this April.
