Gearbox Publishing and Gunfire Games today released a new video showcasing the skills and abilities of the recently announced Handler Archetype class in their upcoming action-survival shooter title, Remnant 2. The Handler Archetype specializes in canine combat and teamwork to take down any threat that stands in their way. Players can mobilize their faithful dog companion to attack enemies and distract enemies when things get a bit too hectic. The Handler’s Prime Perk allows their companion to revive them or their teammates, while their Archetype Trait reduces all friendly fire done to all allies and themselves.

Remnant 2 aims to plunge players deep into a devastated world. You’ll be required to master a mix of ranged and melee combat against cunning enemies and bosses. You can enter the fray as a lone-wolf or even the odds by teaming up with two friends to overcome the challenge. Each time players start a new playthrough of Remnant 2, they will be brought into a new world built from a wide pool of locations, enemies, NPCs, bosses, and weapons. These dynamically built levels allow for unique experiences as elements are woven organically into the world and narrative.

The newly-revealed Handler archetype that you can see in the above trailer is just one of many you’ll be able to play in Remnant 2. This sequel promises an updated Archetype system that gives players more flexibility in their play style and lets groups better sync unique passive abilities and stunning powers together in co-op play. Multiple Archetypes can be unlocked, leveled up, and equipped together. The intention is for a much broader experience, with more variety in play styles encouraged as you play the game.

Today, The Pokémon Company International unveiled the official title and logo of the upcoming Pokémon animated series, “Pokemon Horizons: The Series”. It will premier around the world in 2023 and beyond.

The Pokémon Company group also released a new full-length trailer featuring never-before-seen footage from select episodes of the series. The trailer provides an early look at the storyline for “Pokemon Horizons: The Series,” which focuses on uncovering the mysteries of the Pokémon world.

In “Pokémon Horizons: The Series,” dual protagonists Liko, whose partner Pokémon is Sprigatito, and Roy will encounter many characters during their journey, including a group led by Friede and Captain Pikachu called the Rising Volt Tacklers. Traveling across the Pokémon world on an airship, the Rising Volt Tacklers include Orla, who enjoys mechanical and electrical work and is accompanied by her partner Pokémon, Metagross; Murdock, who is skilled at cooking, and his partner Pokémon, Rockruff; Mollie, who specializes in healing treatments, and her partner Pokémon, Chansey; and Ludlow. Liko and Roy will also come across Amethio, who is joined by his partner Pokémon, Ceruledge, and belongs to an organization called the Explorers, as well as a popular video streamer known as Nidothing.

Riot Games and Valorant have today revealed to players their 22nd agent, known as Gekko. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gekko is Valorant’s newest Initiator who leads a tight-knit crew of calamitous creatures. His buddies bound forward, scattering enemies out of the way, with Gekko chasing them down to regroup and go again.

Keeping the Agent roster distinct from each other, while maintaining performance is always a difficult challenge. Gekko was the biggest one of all. Trying to create 4 super distinct creatures that you will fall in love with, while keeping them within certain game limitations is… hard. Throw in different states and it’s even harder. The team had to work through a whole array of building smart, so that we could maintain the design of the creatures, and keep the game within the performance boundaries.

VCT Champions is coming to Los Angeles

Additionally, Riot Games announced that Gekko’s hometown of Los Angeles will host Valorant Champions, the global final where the 2023 Valorant World Champion will be crowned. Teams from North America, Brazil, Latin America, EMEA, and Asia are currently competing for the chance to earn one of 16 qualification slots for the tournament. Two iconic Los Angeles locations will play host to the event, with early rounds taking place at the Shrine Auditorium and final rounds at the KIA Forum.

Valorant Episode 6 Act II begins on March 7, 2023. Valorant is out now on PC.

The Duviri Paradox is a roguelike-inspired, open-world experience. It aims to tell a gritty, sci-fi story that follows the Drifter stuck in a massive, color-changing, reality-fractured world. The Duviri Paradox will see players dive into the Void-wrecked unknown where the Drifter, along with their Kaithe, and Warframes adventure and fly across a vast color-shifting reality to face off against a powerful new Child King ruler – Dominus Thrax.

Duviri represents the game’s fourth Open World, and the expansion also plans a new upgraded melee combat system for players to try out. You also have Intrinsics for players to upgrade their Combat, Riding Abilities, Opportunity, and Endurance. All players new and old will start their Duviri journey by selecting one of three game modes: ‘The Circuit’ which provides a new Warframe Only endless game mode, ‘The Duviri Experience’ which is a fully open-world adventure, and ‘The Lone Story’ for a solo narrative experience. The world is fluid, where visual and gameplay experiences shift and transpose as the mood of the Child King ruler Dominus Thrax changes day-to-day, weaving through elements of Fear, Anger, Happiness, Envy, and Sadness. Each mood in The Duviri Paradox is visually represented in environments and combat, where enemies and the citizens of Duviri behave differently and colors shift to create a new experience with each step into this world touched by the Void.

In addition to Quests and Activities, The Duviri Paradox will unite the core Warframe with all things related to the Drifter. Below the floating islands of Duviri lurks an area, The Undercroft, a broken Void space where Dominus Thrax could not completely control the Void. The Undercroft contains a full Warframe experience free from the eyes of Dominus Thrax, featuring custom Warframe arenas where Decrees also matter and a mix of known enemies and different threats of Warframe exist. Completing this Warframe segment of The Durivi Paradox rewards players and sends them back to Duviri while restoring color to the shifting world.

SEGA has today published a new trailer for Sonic Frontiers, diving into the game’s combat system.

Sonic fans can learn about the new Skill Tree being introduced with Sonic Frontiers, which is full of exciting new abilities for players to unlock as they progress through the game. In doing so, players will have the opportunity to master their individual approaches to battle and conquer Sonic’s biggest and strongest enemies on the Starfall Islands.

The trailer gives us more insight into how Sonic Frontiers will actually play. Collectible Skill Pieces will be invaluable to help you progress the Skill Tree to unsure you’re as powerful as needed to progress across the Islands. But it’s clear we’ll also need to be keeping our eyes peeled for red Seeds of Power and blue Seeds of Defence to give us even more of an edge.

We were also treated to some specific abilities that will be unlocked during the game. Phantom Rush will prove useful as a payoff for those bagging combat combos, whereas the Sonic Boom uses Sonic’s feet to unleash shockwaves toward your foes. Wild Rush and Cyloop offer more versatility in attack, and recovery, giving your more options at your disposal.

The new Sonic Frontiers’ combat trailer also showcases Guardians – large boss-like enemies that will clearly require more thought and consideration as well as Sonic’s array of moves to take down.

And finally, it seems even Sonic is getting a parry move now too, giving you the edge against enemies if you time it just right. There certainly seems to be a depth to Sonic Frontiers’ combat, and we here at God is a Geek, can’t wait to see more of it ahead of launch.

Today EA SPORTS has announced NHL 22, the latest iteration in its ice hockey series, which for the first time will be powered by the Frostbite engine. According to EA SPORTS, this allows for a ‘breakthrough hockey experience’  for current and next-gen consoles.

For the first time ever, the Frostbite engine comes to the EA SPORTS NHL franchise. This gives NHL 22 the biggest leap forward in graphics and game play in the franchise’s history. Players will be brought to life via overhauled player likeness, cloth animations and uniform micro-details, all delivered in higher resolution to make every stitch visible. Toronto Maple Leafs superstar center Auston Matthews, whose world class skills personify what it means to be an X-Factor on the ice, returns to the EA SPORTS NHL cover in NHL 22 after an incredible 2020-21 season that included winning the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy for most goals in the regular season.

Netflix has released the first trailer of their upcoming film Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, teasing what we can expect when it premieres next month. The film is due for release on August 12, 2021, available exclusively on Netflix.

The trailer gives us the gist of the story surrounding an approaching Elder Dragon – no surprise to Monster Hunter veterans. As well as seeing some of the key characters in action we also catch a glimpse of some well-known Monsters from the series. Early on in the trailer, we see a Velocidrome hunting down the main protaganist. He has clearly mistaken it for a much smaller Velociprey.

Later on in the trailer we also catch glimpses of what appears to be a Testsucabra. Then later we see a Deviljho facing off against a Congalala. Given these diverse Monsters on show, there’s hope we could get many different Monsters on show throughout the film.

Capcom has revealed an extensive post-launch road map for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin ahead of its release later this month. Monster Hunter series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Director Kenji Oguro have offered an in-depth look at the post-launch content coming to the game. Additionally, they also showcased some co-op gameplay, a new story trailer, and more. The new story trailer provides one final look at the gripping narrative we can expect in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Meanwhile, the extensive post-launch roadmap also detailed the challenging and rewarding end-game content awaiting Monster Riders after the game’s July 9, 2021 release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 post-launch roadmap announced

In addition to the already announced first post-launch update, which brings the fan-favorite Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise as a ridable Monstie to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on July 15, today’s special program detailed five additional free updates coming to the game through October 2021. Title Update 2 arrives on August 5, and introduces the gilded Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth as a new co-op quest. However, Kulve Taroth will not be available as a ridable Monstie. Instead, her materials will be invaluable for crafting powerful new equipment. This update will also introduce Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos as additional Monsties.

Title Update 3 arrives in early September, and brings Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, and Oroshi Kirin as new Monsties! In late September, Title Update 4 delivers Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex. Also, Kulve Taroth returns in a new high-difficulty co-op quest offering even greater rewards. In October, Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian swoop in as part of Title Update 5. We will also see the arrival of a special mysterious monster. It will be part of a highly difficult co-op quest that offers materials for crafting incredibly powerful equipment.

Co-op gameplay revealed

During the co-op gameplay reveal, Tsujimoto-san and Oguro-san provided an extensive look at the many ways that players can collaborate in co-op expeditions. This includes exploration, strategizing on combat, discovering Monster Dens, selecting eggs, and hatching new and unique Monsties. We also get a glimpse of how the original Monster Hunter Stories was first created. The pair then discuss what they set out to accomplish with a sequel and their design inspirations.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has a free Trial Version on Nintendo Switch. The PC free Trial Version releases on July 9, 2021, alongside the release of the full version of the game. Both Trial Versions allow save data transfer to the full game. Additionally, Nintendo Switch players with save data from the free Trial Version of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will also receive a special “Kinship Talisman” when linked with Monster Hunter Rise.

In addition to the Standard Edition (physical and digital on Nintendo Switch), Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin also has a digital-only Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes a number of cosmetic options. Players can customize their appearance with Razewing layered armor sets and a Nergigante-inspired hairstyle. They can also use the Kuan Coat outfit to alter the appearance of the Wyverian companion Ena. First Blood fans have a lot to look forward to next month, and Warner Bros has just dropped a new trailer showing off Rambo joining MK11. Tons of moves and costumes are showcased, with the voice of Sylvester Stallone adding that extra level of authenticity to the proceedings.

“Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios today revealed a new Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate gameplay trailer showcasing the franchise debut of Rambo, featuring the voice and likeness of actor Sylvester Stallone.

John J. Rambo, the former Special Forces soldier, brings his unique fighting skills to the Mortal Kombat universe, equipped with his signature survival knife for up close encounters and compound bow for longer range targets. As an expert in hand-to-hand combat, Rambo attacks with vicious grapples and uses traps to keep his opponents guessing, combined with his brutal strength to take on any Kombatant who stands in his way.

Rambo, licensed by STUDIOCANAL, joins the roster as a new playable fighter on 17th November as part of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and Kombat Pack 2 and will include character skin variants inspired by the “First Blood,” “Rambo: First Blood Part II” and “Rambo III” films.”

After watching the trailer, I’m excited to pit Rambo against The Terminator and Robocop to fulfil all my wildest action film fantasies. His character looks to fit into the world of Mortal Kombat perfectly, and I’m excited to watch him score a fatality on Schwarzenegger’s famous character next month.

Two of the greatest puzzle games are coming together again this December, and in a new trailer Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 showcases new modes playable when it releases. With multiple ways to play online and locally, Sega are promising a ton of features for the upcoming crossover.

“In Skill Battle mode, players will create teams of three from selectable characters in either Puyo Puyo or Tetris gameplay settings and use their unique skills to create the ultimate lineup.

Each character starts out with a single specialty and learns more powerful skills as you play with them. Selecting characters with complementary skills becomes a key strategy for winning a Skill Battle match. As you play, you’ll pop Puyos and clear Lines, sending Garbage Puyos and Blocks to the other player’s board. When the Garbage falls, your opponent loses HP. If their HP hits 0, you win!!

Puyo Puyo Tetris® 2 offers fun for all types of players, including Leagues for experienced gamers and a Free Play mode for fun and casual gameplay.

Sega will be releasing on next gen and current consoles on December 8th, with the PC launch coming early next year. I think it might be a perfect game for Switch, but maybe it’ll be worth getting on a next gen console too.

Bloober Team has announced the release date of it’s upcoming third-person psychological horror game The Medium as December 10, 2020, as a launch title exclusively for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. With previous horror titles as Blair Witch, Observer, and Layers of Fear under their belt, Bloober Team certainly know the genre. However, The Medium promises to be something a little different. It features two visually distinct worlds simultaneously – the real world and the spirit world through dual-reality gameplay. Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living, and interacting across the two worlds through her psychic energy.

Alongside The Medium release date confirmation, Bloober Team has released a brand new video. It gives you a closer look at the dual-reality world, showcasing the game’s dark art style inspired by Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński, and his dystopian surrealist work. Throughout the video, you can here “Marianne’s Theme”, a new track by Arkadiusz Reikowski. As an added bonus, you can download this track for free on Steam right now.

With the October 2nd release date looming, Motive Studios have just unveiled the new Star Wars: Squadrons Hunted CG short. Showcasing some of the backstory for the upcoming game, the high quality video is available for all on YouTube and is trending globally already.

“Made in collaboration with Motive Studios, Lucasfilm, and Industrial Light & Magic, “Hunted” is set before the events of Star Wars: Squadrons, introducing one of the ace pilots who players will fight alongside in the single-player story.

In this standalone story, Imperial forces are in retreat after a surprise attack by the New Republic at the Imperial dockyard orbiting Var-Shaa. However, for Titan Squadron Leader Varko Grey, the battle is far from over. He finds himself as the last TIE pilot on the battlefield, hunted by a determined New Republic X-wing.”

The 7 minute long video is well worth a watch, and makes me think the story content when the game is released will be of very high quality. I always want my Star Wars games to have a hefty dose of new expanded universe content (like last year’s Fallen Order, or the incredible Kyle Katarn games) so Squadrons is looking like a day one purchase for me.

With the September 8th release quickly approaching, THQ Nordic has put out the first Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning gameplay trailer. The trailer shows of the stealthy option of the Finesse path. The huge RPG was well received back in 2012, with fans enjoying the Destiny system allowing for continuous character growth throughout your adventure.

Sega of America has released a brand new trailer for Yakuza: Like a Dragon that takes players on a journey through the streets of Yokohama, Japan.

The How Will You Rise? trailer shows Ichiban Kasuga, the first main new protagonist in the history of the mainline Yakuza series, alongside some of his loyal party members, Nanba, Saeko and Adachi.

Along with the release of the trailer, Sega also announced that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will launch on Xbox Series X consoles on the day of release with a PlayStation 5 release planned for later.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon promises to bring dynamic RGP gameplay to the streets of Yokohama Japan. Featuring the intense brawls the series has become known for with party customisation, strategy and a huge variety of skills that players would expect from an RPG.

We can all agree that Happy Gilmore is the greatest sports movie of all time, but I did not expect the film’s villain to be in a PGA Tour 2K21 trailer. With no Sandler in sight, Shooter McGavin focuses his attention on 3 celebrities in the hopes of getting his golden tour jacket back.

It seems like every week we find out something new and exciting about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. I was sold after reading our preview last week, but Ubisoft isn’t letting up on the hype yet. Today, the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla trailer highlights main character Eivor and their reason for coming to England.

2020 is definitely the year for game delays. With global issues affecting every aspect of life right now, a video game releasing a little late is rather forgivable. 2K are the latest company to bear bad news, with Mafia: Definitive Edition hit with a small delay. The remaster of the Mafia series‘ first game will only be pushed back a month, from August 28th to September 25th.

“Mafia: Definitive Edition will now release worldwide on September 25. Though we’d originally planned to release the game one month earlier on August 28, finalizing everything in time for that launch date has become increasingly challenging due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, and the last thing we want to do is compromise the quality of the experience.

Chibig Studio, the developer working on upcoming Summer in Mara has shared a brand new story trailer that provides a little more context to the narratives adventure of Koa, the game’s protagonist.

Summer in Mara is a mixture of farming simulator combined with a story-based adventure. Players will get to explore new islands, make friends and learn more about the evil corporation Elit, which wants to take over the idyllic island of Mara.

As Koa you will be tasked to make the world of Mara a better place with an adventure set around growth and character development achieved through personal experience.

There’s a new sheriff in town for lovers of cowboy tactics, and it can all be seen in the In-depth new trailer for Desperados III. Coming out on June 16th, the new trailer shows off a ton of previously unseen content. This includes the effect of view cones, gun shot noises and pesky guard dogs.

In a surprise announcement today, Nintendo announced that Paper Mario: The Origami King exists and it’s releasing in only a couple of months. The trailer showcases some Tearaway influences, as well as a bizarre looking ring combat system (which looked to be more RPG leaning than recent entries in the series). The trailer also showcases the Sinister new Origami antagonists looking to take over The Mushroom Kingdom.

Digital pre-orders are now live, and pre-ordering will net you the free 4-song “Theme Song DLC Pack” on launch day.

Digital pre-orders are available now via the Nintendo eShop for both the base version and Mega Pack. The Mega Pack comes with 6 DLC song packs each with 6 songs.

Once the game has officially launched the DLC packs included in the Mega Pack will be available to purchase individually or as a bundle.

All pre-orders will come with the 4-song “Theme Song DLC Pack” containing playable versions of theme songs from previous Project DIVA titles. Fear not though, because if you miss out on pre-ordering, the “Theme Song DLC Pack” will be made available for all players beginning 12 June.

Team17 and Ghost Town Games have revealed a new free update to Overcooked 2, introducing its Spring Festival. This new update is in time for the Chinese New Year and is out now on PC and consoles. Players will gain access to two new playable characters – a turtle and a rat – as well as five new themed levels. In keeping with the Chinese theme, Dim sum, hot pot and fruit platters will also be making their way back onto the menu.

Publisher Humble Bundle and developer Crema have released an animated trailer for Temtem, a Pokemon inspired game, to celebrate the launch of the game.

The trailer is an homage to the classic Saturday morning anime intro and introduces some of the characters and creatures players will meet on their journey through Temtem.

Temtem is a creature collecting MMO and released on 21 January in Early Access. Players will explore a world with their friends, battling, trading and collecting Temtem in an ever-growing persistent world.

The Early Access key features include a 20+ hour campaign with four Boss Dojos, full coop. 76 Temtem to catch and trade, breeding system, PvP battles and more. There are also plans to increase the content post launch with 3 more islands to explore, more story content, player events, new Temtem and more.

Bandai Namco has today confirmed that the My Hero One’s Justice 2 release date as March 13, 2020, when it arrives on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. In addition, we also have confirmation of new fighters and modes for the upcoming brawler. Four new characters, Sir Nighteye, Fat Gum, Mr. Compress and Twice have been announced for the roster.

Also, 2 vs 2 battles have been confirmed, as have destructible stages to fight on. There’s also Team Plus Ultra – which provides unique attacks when specific team combos are selected.

Pre-orders are also now live, and for those that do, there’s an exclusive character, Nomu, as your reward. You’ll also get early access to another two unconfirmed characters.

At the end of today’s Nintendo Indie World presentation, Tom Happ, creator of Axiom Verge, showed off a brand-new trailer for the sequel, Axiom Verge 2. In the presentation he thanked fans for the love they showed the original title. He also stated that he had been working on Axiom Verge 2 for four years.

Tough decisions await you as you try and stay afloat.

Slitherine Ltd and Sony Pictures have today announced that Starship Troopers – Terran Command will be coming to PC in 2020. Ubisoft has today announced a limited-time event for Rainbox Six Siege based on the hit Netflix TV series, Money Heist. The event, which runs from November 20-25, 2019, will be set in the Bank map of the game. Furthermore, it will be based on the Hostage game mode, and – you guessed it – the hostage is kitted out in the famous red suit and mask from the hit TV show.

As well as a new mode, costumes are also available, check out the official blurb below for details:

The Money Heist in-game event will also bring a full red suit and Dali mask outfit for Vigil and Hibana. In total, eight unique items will be available, including uniforms, headgear, weapon skins, and charms. These exclusive bundles are available for 1680 R6 Credits.

But that’s not all. During the event, Rainbow Six Seige will be discounted by 70% for those who have yet to take the plunge. If you still need convincing though, you can even try out the game for free between November 21-25, 2019 to make your mind up.

Teyon and Reef Entertainment have released two new gameplay trailers for their upcoming shooter, Terminator: Resistance. They each give us a different look at how the game is shaping up ahead of its release later this month.

The first trailer centres on the combat you will experience in the game. It features the main protagonist Jacob Rivers, who is a member of the Resistance. Throughout the adventure, he will be battling SKYNET in the Future War, so you’ll be seeing a lot of him.

The second trailer showcases the game’s opening gameplay. It lasts for just under ten minutes and provides an introduction to the game’s mechanics and world. Showrunners have revealed a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Netflix series The Witcher. They also confirmed all eight episodes of the series will be available on December 20, 2019. The footage was unveiled in a panel discussion with cast members Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri).

The TV series is based on the best-selling series of Witcher books. As such the storylines will differ from those in the game series. However, you can still expect the same world of magic and mystery, where the lines of good and evil are blurred.

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Karakot today at Paris Games Week.  The new trailer showcases gameplay from across the Buu arc of the game. It also features the well-known theme tune “WE GOTTA POWER” from the Dragon Ball Z anime.

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have revealed a new gameplay trailer for upcoming superhero adventure Marvel’s Avengers. Following on from the Ms. Marvel announcement earlier in the month, this time we delve more into the story and gameplay mechanics. The gameplay will consist of two different Mission types; Hero Missions and Warzone Missions. Hero Missions are single-player and form part of the main story campaign. However, Warzone Missions can be played by up to four players, and are scaled based on team size and player level.

You unlock more of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as you progress, and you can unlock and equip new gear to strengthen your party. Furthermore, you can customise each hero’s abilities and skills to suit your preferred playstyle.

Draw Distance has released a brand new animated gameplay trailer for Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York.

The trailer shows the basics of the narrative based game, which takes heavy inspiration from the original pen and paper Vampire: The Masquerade game.

The trailer shows a Visual Novel art style and in it you can see several game mechanics such as hunger, the passing of time, clan disciplines, in game map, and quests etc..

Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York is due to be released on PC in early December. It is expected to be available on Steam, GOG.com and globally through other digital outlets. There are also plans to release a Nintendo Switch version, due out in Q1 of 2020.

For PS4 and Xbox players there isn’t any firm news at present, however the team is actively exploring options to see if a release on those platforms will be possible.
