Yes, in the year of our lord 2018 a new game has come to the Wii U in the shape of Zordix’s Waverace a-like Aqua Moto Racing Utopia.

Also available on PS4, PC and Switch Aqua Moto Racing Utopia wants you to race, pull stunts and generally get wet over several jet-ski themed courses. There are several Mario Kart style fun games included as well.

While the game doesn’t have a particularly good average on Metacritic or Opencritic across any of its formats it does have fans willing to give it decent ratings, so for those looking for a bit of Waverace style action might find a sense of relief here.

The first part of the Breath of the Wild expansion pack is out now, and I’ve been playing it.

Honestly? It’s fine. It’s a great reason to come back and play more Zelda, but the ultra hard mode isn’t for me, and really I feel like there’s plenty of game left in BotW anyway.

My suggestion would be to wait for expansion 2 reviews if you’re not sure about buying it, because you can’t buy them separately anyway. Thing is, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild review by miles, so any reason to go back and play more is fine by me.

The post How does the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild perform on the Wii U? appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

I’ve been exploring the lush meadows and scaling the foreboding mountain tops in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a fair few hours now and I bloody love it. It’s a game that promotes creativity, imagination and spontaneity. It allows the player to truly carve out their own paths and to think for themselves, more than any open world game in recent memory. It’s magnificent.

I may have the new Zelda, but I’m not, in fact, playing it on a new grand-spanking Nintendo Switch. Nope, I’m playing Breath of the Wild the ol’ Wii U.

There’s been lots of talk about how great BOTW is on the Switch, but even there it apparently has some framerate issues. So how, I hear you ask, does it run on Nintendo’s now obsolete console?

Well, pretty well. Surprisingly so, actually, because I’d imagine it’s easily the biggest game to ever grace the Wii U and it’s a small wonder that it’s working on the console at all. In the first area, the Grand Plateau, framerate drops to happen half regularly, especially just outside the area from which you are resurrected. The drops tend to happen for a couple of seconds, and they are intrusive, but they quickly fade from the mind when the goodness soon returns. I found that the Plateau was easily the worst area for frame rate irregularity – still, not that bad – and once you leave the starting area it improves a lot.

breath of the wild bees

There is a fair amount of pop in, with trees, foliage and on occasions animals gradually coming into frame as you walker closer towards them. This I found to be a bit subtle though and not that distracting. It grabbed my attention more because I saw something moving in my peripherals rather than something smashing into my face out of nowhere.

The only thing I do wish the Wii U version had was more gamepad functionality. Considering Link basically walks about with a gamepad attached to his waist, I am surprised you can’t access things like your map and inventory just from the gamepad while still playing, but it isn’t a deal breaker.

There was one shrine I entered in which the puzzle was a monkeyball-esque maze puzzle, in which I had to move a maze in order to get a ball through to the other end, and the maze moved via motion controls on the gamepad. I found this to a be a little fiddly with the gamepad not being very responsive. Thankfully I managed to cheese it with some clever thinking, but it was really beginning to get on my nerves.

So it does run really well, and the occasional technical hiccup comes no where near close to ruining the sheer scope and beauty of the majestically crafted Hyrule.

Nintendo Switch and 3DS to coexist says Reggie Fils-Aime https://www.godisageek.com/2017/01/nintendo-switch-3ds-coexist-reggie-fils-aime/ Sat, 14 Jan 2017 08:21:45 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=187714 By my side

Reggie Fils-Aime says the Switch and 3DS will live side by side.

In an interview with WIRED, Fils-Aime spoke about the future of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems now that the Switch is nearly in the market. He had the following to say about the 3DS and the Switch:

3DS has a long life in front of it. We’ve already announced games that will be launching in the first couple quarters of this year. There are a number of big games coming. And in our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side. You’re going to be meeting different price points, you’re going to be meeting different types of consumers, you’re going to have the newest, freshest content available on Nintendo Switch, you’ve got a thousand-game library available on Nintendo 3DS, plus some key new ones coming. They’re going to coexist just fine. We’ve done this before, managing two different systems. I think there’s a sense that Nintendo Switch is a portable device. It is portable. But at its heart, it’s a home console that you can take with you on the go.

This is interesting because even though Nintendo is marketing the Switch as a home console first, it can be played almost completely as a portable as well. Another interesting point of contention is how some of the biggest supporters of the 3DS have been absent when it comes to anything Switch related like the Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney teams at Capcom or Level 5. Yokai Watch is a huge deal on 3DS and Monster Hunter is arguably bigger. Both were nowhere to be seen at yesterday’s event. Nintendo is releasing a few Wii U game ports or versions for Nintendo 3DS early this year but it remains to be seen how 3DS is supported after. Atlus announced a new 3DS project for the 25th anniversary of Shin Megami Tensei as well. There’s a rumoured Pokémon game releasing on the Switch but that is big enough to warrant its own announcement or event.

Nintendo Switch will be available from March 3 and it is region free.

Thanks, WIRED.

This will make the Switch the first Nintendo console since the GameCube to not offer physical backward compatibility. Famitsu also managed to get some more interesting details that can be read here in Japanese or here on Perfectly Nintendo in English. They also commented on the battery life saying it would be revealed at a later date.

While it is great that Nintendo is looking forward here, one hopes that there’s the ability to play games digitally at least from the Wii U.

Nintendo Switch is expected to be released in March 2017.

FAST Racing NEO and the SteamWorld Collection to bring high-speed action, exploration, and intergalactic adventure to Wii U owners across Europe

26th July, 2016 – Since the introduction of the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems, Nintendo has continued to grow and cultivate its relationship with indie developers. On 30th September, this commitment to supporting great indie games and getting quality games in the hands of players come together with the retail launch of Shin’en Multimedia’s FAST Racing NEO and Image & Form’s SteamWorld Collection as the inaugural Nintendo eShop Selects titles for Wii U.

FAST Racing NEO sees players race through a futuristic sci-fi world at incredible speeds, putting their skills to the test in anti-gravity vehicles. With a challenging single-player mode, four-player split-screen or eight-player online, pilots race through dense jungle areas, futuristic cities, abandoned mines in the depths of the earth, and finally up into the stratosphere and beyond.

There’ll be even more tracks to enjoy with the Nintendo eShop Selects version of this release, as the eight downloadable courses contained in the upcoming NEO Future Pack will be included on the disc. The NEO Future Pack will also be made available for owners of the download version to purchase from 30th September. Some of these tracks will also be present at this year’s Gamescom show in August, allowing players to see them in all their high-octane glory.

The SteamWorld Collection will also be part of the Nintendo eShop Selects range, and represents the first time both SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist will be available in the same retail package. SteamWorld Dig sees the player take on the role of Rusty, a lone mining steambot, as he arrives at an old mining town in great need. By digging through the old earth, players can gain riches to unlock upgrades for exploring new areas, all the while getting closer to the ancient threat that lurks below.

In SteamWorld Heist, the other title in the SteamWorld Collection, you command a steam-driven pirate crew in a series of epic tactical shootouts. It’s turn-based strategy with an action twist: you manually aim the guns of your robots, allowing for impressive skill shots and bullet-bouncing action. As Captain Piper you will board, loot and shoot your way through enemy spaceships. Overcome the challenges of the vast frontier by upgrading your recruits with unique abilities, weapons, and even stylish hats!

The SteamWorld Collection will also include the SteamWorld Heist add-on content The Outsider, providing a new ally with a past shrouded in mystery, as well as new missions with brand new weapons, gear, and snazzy new headwear. SteamWorld Heist for Wii U will also launch on Nintendo eShop on Wii U on 30th September, and players can get their first look at the Wii U version at Gamescom in August.

As Nintendo eShop Selects, these titles will sit alongside a range of Wii U titles available as part of the Nintendo Selects range, such as Wii Party UThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, and New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U.

Wii U owners will have a new opportunity to enjoy Nintendo eShop highlights when FAST Racing NEO and SteamWorld Collection become the inaugural Nintendo eShop Selects, coming to retailers across Europe on 30thSeptember.

The post LEGO Dimensions enters its second year with new characters and a new portal appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

Hardly a secret now due to rumour and leaks, but the new packs making up LEGO Dimensions’ second year have been revealed, and, they’re quite something.

Starting on September 30 sixteen new packs will become available for the game starting with Harry Potter and Adventure Time level packs (characters, vehicle, item and level) and an A-TEAM fun pack (character, vehicle and item).

Additionally to this, the game will be getting a tie-in with the upcoming Ghostbusters movie reboot. This will feature a Chinese restaurant overlay for your portal along with Melissa McCarthy’s character Abby Yates and the new Ecto-1 vehicle. The pack is something entirely new for LEGO Dimensions in that it’s a Story pack, making it the game of the movie.

Ghostbusters Story Pack

After this initial flurry we’ll see movie based packs on the LEGO Batman Movie and the upcoming Harry Potter follow up Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them. After that we can expect old skool favourites like The Goonies, Beetlejuice, Gremlins, Knight Rider and E.T. not to mention Cartoon Network’s Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans GO!

But, possibly the biggest surprise is the inclusion of SEGA’s mascot, the cocky blue hedgehog Sonic, seen at the end of the above trailer stealing The One Ring away from Gollum.

If you thought they would stop there you’d be mistaken too. In a first for the LEGO games, you’ll be able to take part in 4 player split screen co-op with new battle arenas. The minifigures within the new toy packs will come with special golden tags that will unlock arenas based on the franchise they belong to. Each arena will come with a set of modes and hazards specific to their brand.

Phew, that was a lot to take in. There’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a LEGO Dimensions fan, and a lot of money to be spent.

I just hope my son doesn’t find out.

Nintendo have announced that their upcoming The Legend of Zelda title will be released in 2017 on both the Wii U and NX, as well as being the sole focus of the publisher’s E3 conference this year.

The Legend of Zelda was originally slated to launch sometime this year, but has been pushed back due to developers needing more polish time. In a press release, Nintendo said: “The latest instalment in this classic series is scheduled to launch simultaneously for both Wii U and NX, and both versions of the game have been in development in tandem. Because developers need more time to polish the game, it will launch in 2017, but it will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3.”

The game will be unveiled formally at E3 this year, and will be the only playable Nintendo title at E3 this year, “in order to provide attendees a complete immersion”.

Nintendo have announced that their next console, the NX, will be released worldwide in March 2017.

The huge news came via a press release, with the Japanese giant also stating that the console will NOT be formally unveiled during their E3 press conference in June–instead it will be revealed “later this year”. E3 will focus on discussing The Legend of Zelda title, now set for release in 2017.

There’s been rife speculation that NX would release in late 2016, following AMD’s reports of chip manufacturing for a variety of new consoles. Also, how could we forget the faked controller prototypes? In any case, NX launches next March.

The post Here’s some of the biggest games you’ll be able to play this April appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

With March having delivered some incredible games such as Pokkén Tournament, Hitman, Tom Clancy’s The Division and Salt and Sanctuary, we’ve only become more expectant of the games set for release this fine April. It looks as though it will be a quieter month in terms of the number of releases, but don’t underestimate some of these blockbusters which are almost definitely holding the top spot on a number of gamer’s wishlists.

See the top picks for April below.

1. QUANTUM BREAK — APRIL 5

Remedy Entertainment’s long-awaited time-bending title Quantum Break arrives on April 5, after various delays since its initial reveal during the launch of the Xbox One. The game aims to blend the mediums of gaming and television together, offering players segments of gameplay broken up by live-action episodes. It’ll be choice-influenced and is certainly a new direction, so we’re anxious to see how it comes across. You can hear Adam and Mikhail talk about their first impressions of Act 1 above. Buy from Amazon.

2. DARK SOULS III — APRIL 12

While some on Xbox One might already be stuck into Dark Souls III thanks to a Marketplace glitch, the rest of us will have to wait until April 12. Perhaps the most anticipated title on this list, Dark Souls III promises a new punishing frolic through the gothic kingdom of Lothric. Players can expect a smattering of new bosses, enemies and equipment as FromSoftware prepare to kick us while we’re down once again. You can hear myself and Adam discuss our thoughts on the game’s first few hours above. Buy from Amazon.

Danganronpa-2-Goodbye-Despair-Featured1

Releasing April 22 on PC via Steam. Already out for PS Vita!

3. DANGANRONPA 2: GOODBYE DESPAIR — APRIL 18

Oh what I would give to forget it all and be able to play Danganronpa again from the beginning. The second outing of the series, Goodbye Despair, is being released on PC next month following the release of the original in February. A hit with a number of YouTubers, Danganronpa 2 takes the series’ sadism to the next level with the new killing semester taking place on a tropical island of all places. Monokuma still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve so if you were a fan of Trigger Happy Havoc, this a is a must-buy.

startscreenpng-1088be_765w.png

Landing on PC on April 19.

4. THE BANNER SAGA 2 — APRIL 19

Stoic’s sequel to their hit turn-based role playing title The Banner Saga is set for release on PC in April, following the original’s release all the way back in January 2014. The Banner Saga was recently ported to PS4 and Xbox One this past January, with the sequel to release on both consoles sometime in the coming months. I hope you’re ready to dig out your horned helmet and get back into that Viking groove.

starfoxzero

Wii U exclusive Star Fox Zero takes flight on April 22.

5. STAR FOX ZERO — APRIL 22

The Wii U calendar for 2016 is hardly filled with blockbusters the way that PlayStation’s and Xbox’s are, but that won’t stop Nintendo from giving the people what they want. Star Fox Zero is the first Star Fox game in almost ten years, and has certainly been highly anticipated since its reveal at E3 2014. Originally intended for a November 2015 release, the game was delayed until Q1 2016 and here we stand. A standalone tower defence game, Star Fox Guard, will be bundled with every copy of Star Fox Zero. Buy from Amazon.

049631

Time goes by so slowly. Four months time, to be precise.

6. KING’S QUEST EPISODE 3: ONCE UPON A CLIMB — APRIL 26

The Odd Gentleman’s re-imagining of the classic King’s Quest series will see it’s third episode release on April 26, following a four month wait since the release of episode two. We should be grateful however, as it was an excruciating six month wait between the debut episode and it’s follow-up. The episode will heavily focus on romance, specifically the meeting of King Grahame and his future wife, Queen Valanice.

Nintendo: Wii U production “is scheduled to continue” https://www.godisageek.com/2016/03/nintendo-production-of-wii-u-continue/ Wed, 23 Mar 2016 14:28:18 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=176495 "From the next quarter and thereafter".

Following reports that the company was wrapping up the manufacturing of it’s current flagship home console at the end of this year, Nintendo have hit back at the claims and said that their production of the Wii U is set to continue.

Yesterday we reported that Japanese newspaper Nikkei had published an article claiming that Nintendo was preparing to cease producing Wii U consoles by the end of 2016, strongly hinting at the release of a new home console by the company later this year. Since then, Nintendo have responded to these claims. “This isn’t an announcement from our company,” a Nintendo spokesperson told Japanese site IT Media. “From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production [of the Wii U] is scheduled to continue.”

While the statement confirms that production is set to continue, it doesn’t necessarily rule out Nikkei’s claim of the ceasing of manufacturing. The statement only explains that Nintendo will support the Wii U in the next two quarters, taking us to the autumn of 2016.

No-one would particularly hold it against Nintendo — the Wii U has sold less than 10% of what its predecessor, Wii, sold. With a variety of sure-success titles having already been released for Wii U, it seems unlikely that the Wii U will bounce back from its abysmal sales figures so it would make sense for the company to retire the console in place of a new one.

Japanese outlet Nikkei has reported that Nintendo are halting the manufacturing of their Wii U console at the end of this year.

The Nikkei article says that Nintendo are terminating production of their “less popular” non-portable console due to the “sluggish” sales in comparison to its hyper-popular predecessor, Wii. If true, this evidence seems to almost solidify the rumours that Nintendo will be announcing a brand new home console with a possible release by the end of 2016. Nikkei also discusses how Nintendo seem to breaking the mould on the notion of console manufacturers continuing to produce a console long after its successor has been released — just look at Microsoft and the Xbox 360.

Story developing…

Nintendo of Europe have announced that Star Fox 64 will be released on Wii U Virtual Console this Thursday (March 24).

It appears that Star Fox 64 is only seeing release in Europe at the moment, with no announcement made for release in other territories. The game will receive a special introductory discount, with buyers getting 50% off until April 21 so if you’re thinking about trying out the series’ signature space combat before Star Fox Zero lands later this year, you’re best to take advantage of this deal.

It should be noted that Nintendo of Europe have referred to it as Star Fox 64, not its original European name of Lylat Wars which means the re-release could be the U.S. version of the game.

As previously mentioned, you’ll be able to pick up Star Fox 64 on Wii U this coming Thursday.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

Women that Rock and Rock the Ages: 2003, bring six new songs to Guitar Hero Live this week.

Taking to Guitar Hero Live’s TV channels is probably the best way to play Guitar Hero’s brand of button pushing rhythm action, and this week sees the following tracks added to the service:

Rock the Ages: 2003

 • Incubus – Megalomaniac
 • Chevelle – Send the Pain Below
 • Marilyn Manson – mOBSCENE

Women That Rock

 • Deap Vally – Gonna Make My Own Money
 • St. Vincent – Birth in Reverse
 • Halestorm – Apocalyptic

Women that Rock comes just as we’ve waved goodbye to International Women’s Day (which took place on Tuesday 8th).

As well as the aforementioned songs, the following 80s hits will be available for one more week:
Stadium Rock Anthems

 • Bon Jovi – Livin’ on a Prayer
 • Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar On Me
 • KISS – Crazy Crazy Nights

We loved Guitar Hero Live, and think you just might too, it’s pretty cheap these days, with some places selling a copy, with guitar for around £30. So it’s worth a punt.

Make more Super Mario Maker with brand new tools https://www.godisageek.com/2016/03/super-mario-maker-brand-tools/ Wed, 09 Mar 2016 19:15:18 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=175563 Today brings a brand new update, with new ways to torture fellow Mario players!

The post Make more Super Mario Maker with brand new tools appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

It’s hard not to love Mario Maker. Honestly, having infinite Super Mario levels is essentially the best thing to ever happen to gaming, ever (and that’s no hyperbole. OK, maybe a little bit, but I’m biased). Anyway, Nintendo have kept the game fresh with regular updates, adding new tools and ways to make gamers worldwide scream in frustration. Today brings a brand new update that adds some classic Super Mario hazards!

First up, is the key from Super Mario World, and of course the doors that you use the keys with! Shake the P Switch and you’ll end up with your key, while shaking normal doors will turn them into Key Doors. You can probably figure the rest out – Hide the key somewhere, or even give it to an enemy to guard! For more challenge, why not shake a coin to turn it into a Pink Coin – If a player collects all of these rose-hued coins on a course, they’ll be rewarded with a key.

Another deadly hazard is the infamous spiky pillars, again from Super Mario World. Shaking a Thwomp enemy will give you these thorny shafts to place wherever you choose. Lay them down and watch them thrust back and forth, creating instant pain for all who touch them.

Aside from these new tools, a brand new “Super Expert” difficulty mode is available for those who finish 100 Mario Mode on Expert. These levels are the hardest on the Internet, and will prove to be the biggest test for Mario veterans. The rewards are great though, unlocking five new Mystery Mushroom costumes for this difficulty, joining four new costumes for finishing on Expert, and three for finishing on Normal.

The Super Mario Maker Bookmark website has also been updated to show the World Record players for each level.

Anyway, see more info in this handy video!

Not a bad bunch of FREE additions, and more are on the way – Are you still playing Super Mario Maker? Will this update bring you back to the game?

This is the first Paper Mario title to be developed for the Wii U, and is currently still in development prompting Nintendo to skip out on announcing a release date — we’ll get one “sometime in the future”.

Paper Mario: Color Splash takes place on Prism Island, which has been drained of its colour. Mario is equipped with a paint hammer and is taken with restoring colour to the island, including one example shown in the Direct that featured reanimating some whited-out Toads.

The game is due for release sometime this year.

Here’s a few of the notable games coming this March https://www.godisageek.com/2016/03/march-2016-game-releases/ Wed, 02 Mar 2016 16:17:51 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=175144 What will you be picking up?

The post Here’s a few of the notable games coming this March appeared first on GodisaGeek.com.

]]>

After a chock-a-block February that seemed to overflow with releases, March appears to be shaping up for a similar set up. With popular titles such as Far Cry Primal, Street Fighter V, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 and XCOM 2 making a splash last month, will March’s releases be able to draw their attention away from the big hitters?

Take a look below at the big games set for release over the next month, and prepare to be broke.

1. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS HD – MARCH 4

Ten years after it released on Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess makes its triumphant return to Wii U in glorious HD. Set in a Hyrule fractured by an all-consuming darkness know as the Twilight Realm, Link must set out to restore light to the affected regions and defeat the malicious Zant before he can plunge Hyrule into eternal twilight. I reviewed it recently, giving it top marks, which you can read here. Well worth picking up, whether you’re new to the series to a Zelda diehard.

2. HEAVY RAIN/BEYOND: TWO SOULS COLLECTION – MARCH 4

Remedy’s last-gen classics Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are getting the remaster treatment, and will be released digitally and physically as part of a dual-disc set. Both received positive reviews on PS3, Heavy Rain in particular which drew much acclaim for its writing. Beyond: Two Souls had a more polarised response, but was ultimately positive. Released in 2010 and 2013 respectively, this upscaling will certainly please many people.

3. TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION – MARCH 8

After numerous betas which drew in over 6.4 million players, Ubisoft’s third-person shooter finally releases on March 8. Set in New York City following a rampant strain of smallpox causes the United States government to collapse, you take control of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) who are tasked with restoring order and investigating the cause of the outbreak. It’s been in development since 2012 and has received somewhat positive feedback follow its online betas, so it’s certainly one to watch.

4. KHOLAT – MARCH 8

Landing on PS4 following its release on PC last year, this sub-zero horror title is based on the Dyatlov Pass incident in which nine Russian college students went missing and were subsequently found dead in the winter of 1959. Set on Kholat Syakhl (translation: Dead Mountain), players are tasked with venturing out into the snowy Russian wilderness to find out what happened on that fateful February night. Sean Bean narrates. Need I say more?

5. HITMAN: INTRO PACK – MARCH 11

Hitman also lands this month, after months of back-and-forth about release schedules and what not. The game is being released episodically over the next few months, and the intro pack — the game’s base and first batch of missions set in Paris — kicks the series off on March 11. It remains to be seen whether the episodic approach for Hitman will be a success: opinion seem split at the moment, but it’s all pure speculation. Following a rather exiguous beta, we’re still a bit clueless on this one. For more information on the content coming to Hitman and its release schedule, see here.

6. EA SPORTS UFC 2 – MARCH 15

Players will be able to jump back into the ring this month too, when EA Sports UFC 2 hits on March 15. The mixed martial arts fighting title introduces a variety of new features, including the new Knockout Physics System allows players to knock out opponents dynamically based on finishing hits’ momentum and strength. Improvements have also been made to the submission, grappling, parrying and blocking systems from the previous entry, so if you’re a fan of MMA then this could be worth a look. Our guy Chris had a hands-on with the game last week, and also interviewed creative director Brian Hayes.

7. POKKÉN TOURNAMENT – MARCH 18

Hitting Wii U on March 18, Pokkén Tournament is a mix between Pokémon and Tekken — as if it wasn’t obvious. Removing the RPG elements of the games and turning it into a real-time fighting title, Pokkén Tournament goes back to basics: offering a Street Fighter-like experience in place of your typical Pokémon title. With a variety of Pokémon to choose from — Gengar, Suicine and Charizard to name a few — Pokkén Tournament promises to deliver a whole new dimension to the franchise.

8. ADR1FT – MARCH 28

Ever wanted to know what it feels like to float around in space? Well, in ADR1FT you can, but it’s not exactly under the ideal circumstances. You take on the role of an astronaut, a survivor of a dreadful accident aboard a space station. You have no memory of the incident, and must traverse the wreckage of the station to discover what really happened. Adam Orth, director of the game, compares the game to his experiences following his inflammatory comments prior to the launch of the Xbox One concerning the console’s proposed “always-on” feature. The game is fully compatible with Oculus Rift so if you managed to snag one, it looks to be quite the experience.

Speculation has been rife about what Nintendo will discuss, but it’s been made clear that the NX won’t be mentioned at all. Fans are hoping for an EU release date for Fire Emblem: Fates, which saw release in North America last month. Other titles hitting the top spot of wish lists are Star Fox Zero, Yo-Kai Watch, Genei Ibun Roku #FE and of course the enigmatic new Legend of Zelda title.

Anyway, back in Blighty, and back on consoles – the Wii U specifically – he’s now been playing the English-language version, and has found that he’s understanding a lot more about the game. But being a fighting game fan, I am massively interested in what this is, because it looks like Tekken if Tekken had Pokemon characters instead of Tekken characters.

Is it? Let’s find out in this video, where I quiz him on the game.

In case you’ve not been keeping up, Colm and I have been blindfolding one another, and instructing the blindfolded party to traverse a game, or do whatever is required.

This week, I asked him to pop the pink blindfold on and play Splatoon, which is a game I adore. The results are, well, they’re in this video below.

Here’s all of the amiibos you can use in Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, and how they help in-game https://www.godisageek.com/2016/01/zelda-twilight-princess-hd-amiibo-functionality/ Tue, 26 Jan 2016 07:24:09 +0000 http://www.godisageek.com/?p=173285 At least that Ganondorf amiibo isn't completely useless.

Nintendo have released a new video showing off the amiibos which will be compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, as well as their effects when used.

The video shows that using the Wolf Link amiibo will open the ‘Cave of Shadows’: a challenge dungeon in which players used Wolf Link and Midna to defeat waves of enemies. Once your done, you can save their remaining life hearts to the amiibo and attempt to beat their own high score. Using the Toon Link or Link amiibo during gameplay will provide players with up to 60 arrows, and the Princess Zelda or Sheik amiibo will fully heal the player when applied to the gamepad.

Players looking for an extra challenge may use the Ganondorf amiibo to increase the amount of damage taken, sort of like an under-stated hardcore mode. The video also points out that the new Wolf Link amiibo will be compatible with the upcoming Legend of Zelda game for Wii U.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is due for release on March 4.

Hot on the heels of Minecraft finally coming to Nintendo’s Wii U is the news that Telltale Games’ Story Mode releases this week.

January 21, is the date Wii U owners across the USA and Europe will be able to play Telltale Games’ latest adventure game, marking Telltale’s first foray onto Nintendo’s HD console. The first episode – The Order of the Stone – will be priced at $4.99 (or local currency equivalent), and will be launched aside the season pass for $19.99, which will secure the remaining episodes for $19.99.

The game will be compatible with the Wii U gamepad, allowing off TV play, just in case someone else is hogging the TV, as well as integrated touch controls, just in case you fancy not using the sticks and buttons.

Minecraft: Story Mode follows a regular person by the name of Jesse, who along with their friends finds something terrible happening within their world, and they must work together to find the legendary Order of the Stone to prevent oblivion!

We’re reviewed episodes one, two, three and four; and we think it’s pretty good. So, if you haven’t played it, and you own a Wii U then this might very well be a good time for you to jump in.

Super Mario RPG will be releasing onto the Wii U Virtual Console later this week, Nintendo have announced.

The game received critical acclaim upon release, successfully meshing our favourite 2D platformer into a fully RPG world, similar to the style of Paper Mario titles. It was never released in Europe until 2008, when it hit the Wii Virtual Console.

Super Mario RPG will become available on Christmas Eve, and will cost €7.99 across Europe, with UK pricing still to be confirmed.

Games review aggregate site OpenCritic has been updated with a couple of new features today.

Chief among these is a new ranking graph system.

dragonagesmall

The purpose of this is to show inquisitive gamers just whereabouts a particular score falls amongst the other games ranked on the site. So you can see if the game’s aggregate score puts it in the top games around, or the worst.

Next up is a percentage recommended indicator. Essentially, this boils down to a marker that tells you how many outlets have scored the game above 80%, thus indicating a recommendation. Any non-scoring outlets that have branded a game as recommended or higher will also be included in this figure.

OpenCritic is really setting itself out to be the prime destination for your game score aggregative needs. Simple to use, and with a host of information for you to get your teeth into.
