Micro Webinar “Digitale Transformation für den Mittelstand” Part 1 | German

This video is the German version of my introduction to Digital Transformation, which focuses on small and medium businesses, in German “Mittelstand”. The goal of this video is to raise awareness about Digital Transformation, and provide general information of what we should expect from this far-reaching paradigm shift. It focuses on the German audience.

In this first part, I cover three main topics:

  1. We have talked about digitalization for many years now. The first computers entered big enterprises in the late 1950s. The IBM PC came on the scene in 1981. Many businesses, especially SMBs, are struggling to fully leverage tools like ERP, which are already on hand.
  2. Cloud technologies will decrease overall operating costs, or at least keep expenses at the current level. They will allow businesses an unprecedented freedom of mobility. To use this mobility, our data must be in perfect shape (see above).
  3. The Internet of Things (IoT) has already entered the private sector with smart home, connected cars, etc. Industry can heavily benefit from this technology. For example, with predictive maintenance, and intelligent products that collect data in the field, which can and will be used to improve the products in a way that wasn’t possible before. IoT can, of course, do much more. It is highly recommended for every business to look into this technology.

In the next part, I will cover 3D printing (additive manufacturing), new design methods, like generative design, which are necessary to fully utilize 3D printing. I will also cover social media and digital customer experience.
